Am going to stop eating crap and lose 4 stone. Want to help me stay on the straight and narrow?

That's it really. Need to lose 4 stone, have failed at every diet I've tried so am going back to basics - 3 low fat meals, 2 healthy snacks, 2 litres of water, more exercise.

I have to do it - on a serious note, have two gorgeous DCs and I want to be fit for them - this weight is not good for me and I know that I'm putting myself at risk of heart trouble, diabetes etc etc - and what's more, I want to wear a size 12 again - instead of size 20 for fuck's sake.

Have failed on all the summer weight loss threads so am hoping that starting my own will spur me on! So anyone with me? Or just want to come and shout at me when I want a chunky kit kat?

Ah, but my way of thinking is that it is impossible to live a life of total abstinence of all things you enjoy. You might lose weight but you would have a miserable life. So, occasionally you should let yourself have a little of what you fancy and enjoy it. You lost a lot this week so a few minstrels and a cream bun will not pile all the weight back on. It just can't. There aren't enough calories.

So don't feel bad, just don't do the same again every day.

No point feeling bad. It is nearly Christmas!! Xmas Grin

How is everybody?

Cold and busy here. Not doing too badly with the eating.

Looking forward to breaking open the Christmas choccies though. Xmas Blush

Just wish I could be the sort of person who can take them or leave them but sadly not.

frozenfestiveflo · 21/12/2010 17:13

Oh nor me! And 1 is never enough, in fact 21 is never enough lol.
I'm doing ok I think, although financial restrictions have meant I have not eaten quite so healthily this week. And have had my hand in the homemade cookies but only a tiny bit.

Snowed all day here and have been out but not far!

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 21/12/2010 21:13

Brrr! very cold here too.

I stepped on the scales this morning and it was fully clothed and after having eaten breakfast and a large cup of tea and......14 81/2 Xmas Grin very pleased!

I'm terrible with a box of chocs too. Fine until it's open and then...Gone! Xmas Blush

frozenfestiveflo · 21/12/2010 22:23

One of my wicked daughters bought me a chocolat orange today! I succumbed although must say only managed half.

Well done Solo :)

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 21/12/2010 23:06

Thanks flo. Might have wrecked it though...pen guin bis cuits Xmas Blush

NineNieciesDancing · 22/12/2010 00:04

Well done solo. I doubt one Penguin would ruin a good week - it will be fine.

Knowing my own weakness for chocolate, the stupid thing is that I have bought TWO tins of chocolates this year. Why???!! One Roses and one Celebrations. It occurred to me that it might be because they are smaller this year than in previous years, so I am told. But not that much smaller that I need to have 2 surely?

I wouldn't mind but I know I will probably eat more than my fair share - the DSs are rationed and DH will have his own chocs. I know because I bought them probably due to some deep seated need to single-handedly prop up the world chocolate market obviously. Xmas Hmm

How are your DC Solo? Recovering OK?

NineNieciesDancing · 22/12/2010 00:08

(Yay, festive name changed worked. Not clever but I like a bit of alliteration)Xmas Smile

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 22/12/2010 00:35

Cooooool name Niecie! Xmas Grin I knew you could do it!

Dc's are much better thank you! and I have a sore throat. Not impressed!

What about 2 penguins? creme fraiche? hot chocolate?

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 22/12/2010 11:08
  • 2lbs...don't want to go for my weigh in now. Very Xmas Angry with myself.
FiveColdRingsForSolo · 22/12/2010 22:52

Well according to the nurse I have lost weight! 14st 7lbs! woo hoo!

I asked what my start weight was etc and she had me at 15st 1lb and waist measurement was 88cm and she keeps telling me what a 'slim' waist I have! it used to be slim! it's still shapely, but when you consider that my waist was 22", you'll understand that 88cm = 34.6 inches is not slim! anyway, it's now 77cm = 30.3inches.............yay!!!!!!! Xmas Grin can you tell I'm pleased?

To tell you the truth though, I don't understand how I'm losing weight or inches, I really don't. My jeans are definitely looser though.

NineNieciesDancing · 23/12/2010 01:12

Whoo hoo!! Well done Solo! 30" waist is brilliant. What a Christmas pressie to yourself.Xmas Grin

I take it this week we are looking forward to weighing in? Xmas Smile

Actually in some ways the weigh in doesn't matter. Isn't your waist measurement meant to be more important than what your weight for your health?

Are you going to treat yourself to some new clothes in the sales then? You deserve it!

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 23/12/2010 01:53

Hehe! Thanks Niecie Xmas Grin.

Yes I think you are right re the health thing, but I still want to lose at least 2 1/2 stones AND another 8 inches off my waist! Xmas Wink but no, I haven't got the money to buy new clothes for myself, besides, I don't think I'm at the smaller clothes size stage yet Xmas Grin and when I am, I've got plenty in the space bags!

frozenfestiveflo · 23/12/2010 10:40

Solo yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy what fab Christmas news :)
I absolutely know I havent lost and may even have put on - how do I fight the disappointment in myself :(

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 23/12/2010 14:27

Thanks flo! The thing is as one of you said before; your weight can change daily. This morning I had a step on as you do and I'm 3 1/4lbs less than my scales said yesterday Hmm so it's better still! but tomorrows weigh in might be really disappointing.
I think the only way to fight your own disappointment is to strive to do better for next week but, considering it's the week of Christmas pudding and lashings of fresh cream... I'm so going to be joining you on the self disappointed step.

defineme · 24/12/2010 09:49

Morning ladies-congratulations to all of you that are doing well. Smile

12 st 13 this am which is onlyy 2 llbs, but I'm well pleased considering the vodka, wine, champagne, cheese and mince pies, oh and the chip cob for tea last night Grin

I'm having mainly cereal and soup inbetween the parties so I think that's helping.

NineNieciesDancing · 24/12/2010 10:06

Merry Christmas! Can I say that yet with it being Christmas Eve and all? (although not sure I will be back tomorrow to tell you everything I have eaten!!)Xmas Grin

Well, I am down to 15st 6.5lb which is 1.5lb off. Haven't eaten much this week due to being in the House of Germs and rushing around like a lunatic! DS1 had a tummy bug last weekend and has been completely knocked for six. No energy or appetite and now seems to have developed another cold plus a touch of a temperature every morning.

SIL and PIL took my two boys out bowling yesterday, which DS1 coped with OK (I wouldn't let him go unless he ate a bit of lunch) but then he completely crashed when he got home. Just lay on the rug until I shooshed him upstairs to lie on the bed and watch telly for a bit. Then he couldn't face tea. No going out for him today!

Defineme - well done on your 2lb despite everything! You'll reach target in no time at this rate. Xmas Smile

florence - hope the scales give you a nice surprise and if they don't, well, next week we can start getting back to normal so worry about it then. Xmas Smile

solo - never mind the scales, you have a 30" waist. Xmas EnvyXmas Grin

frozenfestiveflo · 24/12/2010 13:51

Morning loves - Merry merry Christmas and yes today I am not thinking about it.
Put on a lb but the bigger picture is that I am wearing smaller clothes :)

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 24/12/2010 22:18

Merry Christmas everyone!

I've decided to only do one weigh in on here a week now and it will be on a Weds on the week the nurse weighs me and Friday when she doesn't. Of course, if I have a significant loss, I shall be here showing off Xmas Wink

frozenfestiveflo · 27/12/2010 18:43

ouch I fell off!

NineNieciesDancing · 28/12/2010 10:43

So did I!

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 28/12/2010 23:03

I'm assuming you are speaking of the wagon? I have to say that I've been really very good all in all Xmas Grin

NineNieciesDancing · 29/12/2010 00:30

I'm glad somebody has some will power Solo!! Mine has deserted me.

In my defence, AF has just arrived so that has been playing havoc with my ability to resist chocolate.Xmas Blush

I have decided that I will lighten up for bank holidays and weekends over the festive period and eat whatever I like (within reason) but be strict for the normal days so tomorrow, Thursday and Friday I have to retrieve my will power from wherever it has been lurking and show some restraint. Hope I manage it!
