Am going to stop eating crap and lose 4 stone. Want to help me stay on the straight and narrow?

That's it really. Need to lose 4 stone, have failed at every diet I've tried so am going back to basics - 3 low fat meals, 2 healthy snacks, 2 litres of water, more exercise.

I have to do it - on a serious note, have two gorgeous DCs and I want to be fit for them - this weight is not good for me and I know that I'm putting myself at risk of heart trouble, diabetes etc etc - and what's more, I want to wear a size 12 again - instead of size 20 for fuck's sake.

Have failed on all the summer weight loss threads so am hoping that starting my own will spur me on! So anyone with me? Or just want to come and shout at me when I want a chunky kit kat?

Happy Monday!!

Hope everybody is well. Last week of school this week and looking forward to not having to get up early every morning and, most importantly not having to make the dreaded pack lunches.

Not plucked up the courage for a name change thread yet but thought I might get more response on a week day and I was too chicken to do it this weekend.

Had a decent weekend and trying to maintain my small lossses. Would still like to lose a lb or two before Christmas because I intend to relax a bit and not think too much about what I am eating. Don't want to start the New Year by having gone back over that 16st mark again. That would be Very Bad.

defineme · 13/12/2010 13:24

Hi,
I've been thinking of starting a food diary thread and then I saw this. Hope you don't mind!
I'm 5 10" and 13st 4 lbs and bursting out of my 16s and nowhere near my 14s. I really can't afford new clothes and need to get back into the ones I've got. I'm down to one pair of jeans. I'd like to be under 12 st fairly soon-after that who knows!

Bread, butter, wine and crisps are my down fall.

I started on Saturday.
Cornflakes + 2 satsumas
salad, slice bread, 2 eggs
tortellini and salad + 2 satsumas
yoghurt

Sunday
shreddies
pizza (450 cals worth so not that bad)w green beans. yoghurt an dfruit
muesli
more muesli
shreddies
that was a bit crap, resisted wine but appear to have had a carb fest

Monday
cornflakes
beans on toast with scrape low fat flora grapes
no idea about tea yet

So pleased people are sticking at it. I need to be inspired and remember falling off the wagon shouldn't lead to giving up entirely.

Sunday

Hi defineme - looks like you had a good weekend! There is very little, if any snacking on that list of things, which is always my downfall, especially in the evenings.

How are you recording your diary? Some of us are using the Food Focus website. It is free and has a few tools that it is interesting to play about with.

We do weigh ins on Fridays if you want to join in and monitor your progress on here. I have found this thread good for the moral support for the bad days and a pat on the back for the good ones. Keeps me focused!!Xmas Smile

defineme · 13/12/2010 20:35

Thanks -that website looks great.
I will weigh in on Friday, but I don't hold out much hope because I feel like I'm just eating what non fat people eat normally and so I'll just stay the same. Whereas I think to actually lose weight I'll have to eat a lot less!

frozenfestiveflo · 14/12/2010 08:58

Morning peoples

Define me - well we'll cross our fingers for you - for my first week a simple change of milk had a marvellous effect :)

Indulged in a mince pie yesterday - gosh Christmas is a killer for me!

Oh and of course AF is here again!!!!!!!!!

But today's sneaky weigh looks ok.

Just about to throw a chicken casserole into the slow cooker - that helps me I think. Not having to go and cook at 5.30! When something quick would most likely not be very healthy!

How are we?

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 14/12/2010 10:53

Me too flo (AF I mean).

Not weighed myself this week yet.

Got Ds off sick again 2nd day this week...

Niecie · 14/12/2010 17:54

Doing Ok this week. Lets hope it will last but can't see that happening once the chocolates get opened!! Mince pies I can resist, not keen on Christmas cake (marzipan is not my favourite thing) but chocolate....oh dear, oh dear. And I had planned to make a yule log too - chocolate and cake, my two favourite food groups.Blush

I was just doing my Christmas cards and found a page in my organiser (don't use it much) which I wrote on 1/1/08 where I obviously thought I was going to lose some weight that year. I was 15st 12lb.Xmas Shock

When I think where I ended up it is not good. Obviously I had forgotten about those weight loss plans by 2/1/08. However, it does mean that I am now the lightest I have been for 3 yrs which is nice to know.

I reckoned I could be back to an OK BMI by the end of July (11st 5lb). What was I thinking!!? I would happy if I could be that by this time next year now. 2lb a week would take some serious dieting which I am not prepared to do - it has to be sensible eating or I will look back at this page in another 3 years and have not have lost an ounce.

Solo - sorry to hear your DS is poorly. Is he still struggling with the cold he had or has he got something else now? Don't you just love this time of year for illnesses. Xmas Hmm

Florence - I like the sound of a casserole - I have no idea what to have for tea tonight which is dangerous - bad choices are made when I have no plans. It's only me and DS2 tonight as the other two had Christmas lunches. Alright for some!

defineme · 14/12/2010 19:44

Having started foodfocus food diary I have resolved never to eat hot cross buns again-unfestive and no more calories left for the rest of the day!
Very pleased I can put cleaning in the exercise bit and can put walk to school in as well-if I hadn't done that hot cross bun would have taken me over calories.

Is it wrong to ask dh not to eat cheese in front of me-find that very hard.

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 14/12/2010 23:45

Niecie, I didn't write mine down, but I can sympathise with you re the previous desire to lose weight

Ds is even worse tonight. Dd also has it and is meant to be going to her very first nursery Christmas party tomorrow :( not sure she'll be well enough to go though.
Both have high temps and Ds just came downstairs; thought he was sleep walking or delusional as he was saying some weird stuff!

Defineme, well done :) and no it's not wrong, but maybe you could just try to cope with it as you wont be able to ask everyone to leave when they eat something you love. It's really hard, but it's self discipline. Sometimes I have it; sometimes I don't :( I guess we're all the same.
Keep up the good work though.

frozenfestiveflo · 15/12/2010 09:22

Oh Solo oh do hope DS is better soon and DD gets to go to her party :(

Defineme yep I think foodfocus certainly focussed my mind too lol.
That said I did have a mince pie again last night - the small victory is that last year DH and I would happily eat a box an evening !
Niecie - planning for me is definately a good thing otherwise we'd definately go down the rubbish route. I think you should be celebrating that this is your lightest rather than wondering what happened to those long ago plans.

We are doing it and we are doing it our way and at our speed

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 15/12/2010 12:45

Well, Ds is still off but Dd went in. She enjoyed herself and I think will be fine until the end of the week. Ds on the other hand, I think I'll keep home.

Niecie · 16/12/2010 11:03

Solo - sorry your DS is so poorly. Do you think it is flu? Hope he is recovering today and is well by Christmas

DH got DS2's tummy bug yesterday (he says it is food poisoning but it doesn't usually start the instant you finish a meal does it?) and I got DS1's cold which is less runny nose and more annoying cough. At least I haven't felt much like eating!

Oh and the tumble dryer has broken down - probably due to overwork this week.

On the plus side I got my OU result, I passed and more surprisingly, passed comfortably. So, now you can all me Niecie MSc because that was my last course! Hooray. Xmas WinkXmas Grin

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 16/12/2010 21:37

Congratulations Niecie!
Bummer re the tumble dryer. Mine is now 26 years old and I dread it going wrong.

Ds wants to go in for half a day tomorrow as it's the last day; I don't want him to, but he's determined!

Dd has been off today as she had a temperature and is very snotty with a cough and is sneezy. She wont be going in tomorrow. She's asleep on my lap right now.

Niecie · 16/12/2010 22:40

Repairman came but predictably, didn't have the right part and can't get it until Monday, weather permitting. I better have it soon. The inlaws are coming and I have washing to do and it isn't the time of year to have to dry it without a tumble dryer.

Glad your DS is on the mend. It would be a shame to miss the last day of term. I upset DS2 earlier by mentioning that tomorrow was his last Christmas end of term in the Infants. He got all maudlin then wound himself up so much he was in tears! What terrible mother. Xmas Blush The end of term is obviously important to them.

Hope your DD perks up too. What a crappy time of year to be ill!

And it looks like none of us are going to escape the next lot of snow either.

Weigh-in day tomorrow. I am optimist for a change!

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 16/12/2010 23:05

I'm not!

defineme · 17/12/2010 08:09

Morning ladiesSmile

I am now 13st 1 so that's 3 llbs off-very pleased and hope I keep going.

How is everybody else doing?

frozenfestiveflo · 17/12/2010 08:47

Well done defineme :)

Oh you poor loves with sick houses :( an awful time of year fro bugs - I do hope eerything is gone by next week! Doesn't sound like food poisoning Niecie lol - bit quick. Fab news about your course. One of these years I may actually start one Blush

I am very chuffed with this mornings weigh in. Another 2.5 lb gone. Done to 12st 8lb - sounds so much better than where I started :)

Niecie · 17/12/2010 09:24

Well done defineme and florence - impressive week for both of you, especially in view of the temptations in our way this time of year.

I have lost about 1.5lb which makes me 15st 8lb. Yay!! Thats a total of 9lb since September and 2st 4lb since last February.

I am pleased but then think about all the weeks between July and November when I gained some and lost some without making real in roads. It could have been better but who cares!!!

Are we having one more week of sticking to plan and having a weigh in next week or is that it until after Christmas. Obviously I will still keep obsessively weighing anyway. It will be interesting to see what effect Christmas does have!

frozenfestiveflo · 17/12/2010 09:27

Niecie - cut yourself a break! A loss overall is a triumph - that's what counts :)

I am planning another week and weighing next week (and tomorrow and sunday and .... you get the picture lol)

Niecie · 17/12/2010 09:48

I know but I am still exactly 3st heavier than you and I would still have to lose at least 1.5st more than that to be a healthy BMI. There is still a long way to go - 4.5st is a 6 yr old!!

But I am pleased, really I am! I was nearly 18 stone Xmas Shock - I have rediscovered my collar bones, the ability to cross my legs, the ability to bend over to do my shoelaces up without suffocating myself and items in my wardrobe that I haven't worn for years. It just takes sooooo long and I worry I won't stick it out! Will my motivation disappear when I reach the overweight category instead of being obese?

Nah. I will be 11st again one day.Xmas Smile

As a matter of interest, has losing weight made any difference to the rest of you? Can you 'feel' it?

frozenfestiveflo · 17/12/2010 10:56

You will stick with it because we all will :) and we'll all be here! For the record I am short so even if I get to a target 10st I will still be technically overweight!

It's definately made a difference to me. I have chickens and it used to be a real struggle to get into their run and open their door - now I can bend down so much easier and yes cross my legs too :)

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 17/12/2010 11:18

Hello you lucky lovely losers!

I am stuck at 14. 10 it seems, but at least I haven't gained again. So just 4lbs off for me from the start.

I will weigh in next week, but I don't hold much hope for the following week sadly. I'm a fresh cream fiend

frozenfestiveflo · 17/12/2010 21:22

however have had a bag of minstrels and a cream bun this evening :(

Niecie · 17/12/2010 21:59

Don't worry about it - I've had pizza. I am currently resisting the After Eights I opened yesterday in celebration of my exam results when I sat there all evening by myself as DH went out having a good time. Xmas Hmm(Bitter - moi?) but how much longer can I resist?

I shall put it down to being demob happy as there is no more school for 2.5 weeks and therefore no more of the dreaded pack lunches to make. No idea why I hate that job but I do.

Tomorrow is another day.

frozenfestiveflo · 17/12/2010 23:18

but I hate the feeling of letting myself down :(
