Am going to stop eating crap and lose 4 stone. Want to help me stay on the straight and narrow?

That's it really. Need to lose 4 stone, have failed at every diet I've tried so am going back to basics - 3 low fat meals, 2 healthy snacks, 2 litres of water, more exercise.

I have to do it - on a serious note, have two gorgeous DCs and I want to be fit for them - this weight is not good for me and I know that I'm putting myself at risk of heart trouble, diabetes etc etc - and what's more, I want to wear a size 12 again - instead of size 20 for fuck's sake.

Have failed on all the summer weight loss threads so am hoping that starting my own will spur me on! So anyone with me? Or just want to come and shout at me when I want a chunky kit kat?

markiing place so this is back in my thread im on. will post tomorrow. solo reminded me, had lots going on. will catch up tomo. night.

florencerusty · 02/12/2010 08:35

Blimey Solo! Restores your faith in people a bit :)
Hope tomorrow is better for travelling. We rarely get much over here but the pavements are so treacherous we havent ventured out for days. Off to late night shopping this evening with my DD2 but really dont want to drive. Roads must be bad though coz DH has been taking the van rather than the motorbike to work and he is pretty hardcore lol.

Really feeling quite despondant about tomorrows weigh in - not sure there will be any difference and I have been good :(

Niecie · 02/12/2010 09:43

Hello Giraffes! Nice to see you. How are you?

My boys are off today although DH has gone to work. I don't understand the logic that he can get to work but the teachers can't get to school (live next to the school) but it is nice (sort of) to have the DSs home.... until they start fighting!

I'm not looking forward to tomorrow's weigh-in either. Cold seems to make me heavier!!

Now the question is do we make cupcakes or do we not? If I make them and there is no school fair tomorrow that is dangerous. Smile

Morning All,

Can I join please?? I'm 5'6", weight 13st 10lb and feel horrid.

Ideal weight range is between 9-11stone (i've never been 11stone in my life!) and nearly three stone to lose feels a mile away.

How do I do it?

Wanna cry Blush

strumpet82

Niecie · 02/12/2010 11:01

Oh don't cry Strumpet, it is a big job but you can do it!!

You are more than welcome to join in. I think mostly we are just trying to be careful what we eat and some of us (not me unfortunately Blush) were being very sensible and trying to do more exercise. The weather seems to be spoiling that one at the moment.

I personally am going with the 80/20 thing where if you eat sensibly and well 80% of the time you can afford to have a treat for 20% of your calories (although I seem to have it round the wrong way this week and seem to be only eating healthily 20% of the timeBlush again). I am considering doing a 2 week blitz and seeing if I can kick start my losses again but I haven't started yet.

That's it really. I think the thread is more about keeping the weight loss goal in focus and making sure it doesn't get forgotten more than being about the diet. The others have been very encouraging and it is nice to talk to people online so I can avoid being a diet bore in RL!!

Oh and if you find it useful www.foodfocus.co.uk is a good website for working out calories, monitoring your goals and doing the sums (BMI, exercise calories that sort of thing). It is free so some of us are using that. Smile

strumpet82 · 02/12/2010 11:06

Niecie thank you for your links and advice, i'll start smiling Smile

florencerusty · 02/12/2010 11:24

Welcome back Giraffes and welcome Strumpet
Definately don't be sad. I have almost 3 stone still to lose but am trying hard to be really positive - we can do this.
Foodfocus is excellent. I am calorie counting like a loon Monday - Friday and being sensible but more lax on the weekends. And so far its working although this week might be a blip and not feeling like I have acheived much - tomorrow morning will tell.

Cakes????????? mmmmmm I am toying with making some Christmas cookies just for something to do with DD but then someone will have to eat them!

solo · 02/12/2010 12:37

Hi all :)

I stayed at Mums again last night...I had alcohol Blush which has probably undone all the good I had done :(

Need to get going soon. Dc's are both off chool and Ds is annoyed that school might be open tomorrow. Dd was off sick on Monday and Tuesday and then the school closed on Weds and I was going to send her back. I'll probably keep her at home until Monday now (maybe).

Will have to dig the car out soon...

solo · 02/12/2010 12:38

Niecie, freeze the cakes?

Niecie · 02/12/2010 17:13

Can I freeze them with icing on? I have no idea - cake is usually something that doesn't hang around long enough to freeze! Blush

We have had an email saying that regardles whether school is open tomorrow, the Christmas Fair is postponed until next week. I'd already made 6 for the school with my cupcake maker (very lovely gadget) and then the DSs wanted some for themselves so I made another 6. 3 have already gone but now it looks like we have an extra 6 to dispose of so freezing would be good but I am not sure about buttercream. Or I could take them to my mum's tomorrow and let her worry about what to do with them!!

Solo - sounds like you had a bit of a break despite the inconvenience and a poorly DD. I hope you make it home OK and digging the car out uses loads of calories!

florence - I bet you've done OK. I guarantee it will be better than me! Smile

strumpet - I forgot to say we have a weigh in on Fridays. That way we can overeat on Saturday and Sunday and still have 5 days to put it right before the next weigh in! Smile

solo · 02/12/2010 20:39

I'm home now thank goodness. Ds dug the car out for me and I scraped ~ twice! because it snowed and froze so fast!

I think you can freeze icing, but not buttercream, though I may be wrong.

I've not been really bad this week, but I'm scared to weigh in tomorrow :(

Just been watching Nigella stuff her face and can't help but wonder if she's bulimic real. Envy I mean, I was able to eat what the heck I liked 10 years ago, but not now and I think she must be my age.

solo · 02/12/2010 20:43

Oh my goodness! Nigella is nearly 51! she looks fantasic!

florencerusty · 02/12/2010 22:14

Yeah she does and at least she isnt a stick insect even if she isnt quite in my league

Niecie · 03/12/2010 00:06

She does look good for 51! I think she does struggle with her weight sometimes though. I read somewhere that she does diet from time to time. Her husband lost a massive amount of weight a while ago didn't he? Must be really difficult when faced with her cooking. Hats off to him.

At least cutting back on eating my own cooking isn't a great hardship!!!

florencerusty · 03/12/2010 08:48

I cannot imagine living with Nigella and not being able to eat 24/7 ! she has to be my favourite celeb chef, I often whip up one of hers :)

Well the scales say loss of a lb so at least its a loss.

Niecie · 03/12/2010 10:12

Oh crap. Just realised I wrote she does look 51!! Of course she doesn't! Blush

For some reason I have lost the ability to put 'n't' so on the ends of words. I keep doing it which of course completely changes the meaning of my sentences. My fingers seem to got very lazy. Weird.

Proof reading doesn't make any difference. My eyes and fingers are in a conspiracy to make me look a mad woman. (It isn't hard)!!

florence - well done! Smile How much have you lost in total now?

Still in PJs myself - the boys are off again so not in any hurry. Was going to go out Christmas shopping with my mother but decided it looked like it might snow again and don't want to risk getting stuck miles from home.

Will weigh shortly. Probably not lost anyway. Sad

florencerusty · 03/12/2010 12:32

Niecie positive thinking! It's loely and sunny here but bitter out, so we are in and doing sticking and gluing :)

No it's ok you wrote that she looks good so it all makes perfect sense.

I'm no longer sure what I have lost because of the change in scales! The old scales said I started at 14st and went down to 12st 10. Then I changed scales last week and they said I was 12.13 (same day I was 12 10 on the others!) are you following? lol
and today they say 12.12 sooooooooooooooo nope no idea :)

solo · 03/12/2010 14:42

Lord, I'm cold!!!

My scales threw me off this morning in disgust as apparently I'm now 14 11.3 not impressed as I thought I'd been quite good all in all...perhaps it was that alcohol then :(

Ds is off sick as he has caught Dd's cold/cough/man flu. Dd's school still closed, but I think she may have still been off sick anyway...

Niecie · 03/12/2010 15:19

I reckon the scales don't like the cold weather any more than we do! Mine are all over the place but I would be kidding myself if I didn't admit that I have actually gone up a lb. Sad

Could be AF which started today despite being due at the beginning of the week and threatening to come all that time. Damn hormones - not used to lateness but I suppose that is what comes of being 44.

Or it could be the cumulative effect of cupcakes, chocolate and being stuck indoors all week.

Oh well, pizza for tea. The scales aren't going down any time soon, are they?!

Solo - hope your DS makes a quick recovery.

solo · 03/12/2010 16:24

Awww Niecie, you're a spring chicken sweetie!

Ds is coughing away...I feel bad him being off (apart from him being a pita) as they were sent home early on Tuesday and off due to snow weds and thurs...he's at a really good grammar school and I don't want him falling behind.

florencerusty · 04/12/2010 22:14

hope you are all better than me. bad day and could get worse yet

solo · 04/12/2010 23:42

You around florence? what's up honey?

florencerusty · 06/12/2010 17:27

TY I am a bit better today - well not feeling urderous at least. Worst bit is not even entirely sure why!

solo · 07/12/2010 00:00

:( but :) you are a little brighter.

I've had the munchies tonight and I hate that!
