Am going to stop eating crap and lose 4 stone. Want to help me stay on the straight and narrow?

That's it really. Need to lose 4 stone, have failed at every diet I've tried so am going back to basics - 3 low fat meals, 2 healthy snacks, 2 litres of water, more exercise.

I have to do it - on a serious note, have two gorgeous DCs and I want to be fit for them - this weight is not good for me and I know that I'm putting myself at risk of heart trouble, diabetes etc etc - and what's more, I want to wear a size 12 again - instead of size 20 for fuck's sake.

Have failed on all the summer weight loss threads so am hoping that starting my own will spur me on! So anyone with me? Or just want to come and shout at me when I want a chunky kit kat?

Testing...

solo · 26/11/2010 10:22

Bummer! I've tried writing and posting a lengthy post 3 times and it disappears each time and takes me to the topics page!!!

solo · 26/11/2010 10:24

In short Angry

Well done florence.
Asda for digi scales.

Intentions: get to 14st 7lbs, go on detox for half stone, normal eating, see what happens.

Fingers crossed!

solo · 26/11/2010 10:24

Hooray!

florencerusty · 26/11/2010 10:48

Asda really? I didnt think ours had any but that would suit me fine
Sounds like a good plan Solo

Been back on the scales and they say closer to 2 but think I'll def go shopping

Niecie · 26/11/2010 13:19

Well done losers!! Grin

I am a stuck again. Mind you, the scales were all over the place this morning and then refused to work at all (at one point I weighed 1.4lbsConfused).

Given that they have taken a bashing in the last few months I suspect worn out batteries.

Solo, did you get weird machine code looking pages earlier when you were trying to post? Weird things happened to me earlier too. I was alright to look at Active Convos and the threads I'm on list but not to actually go into a thread without gobbledy gook coming up instead.

Seems OK now but was odd for a while. Not something I have come across before on MN.

florencerusty · 26/11/2010 13:37

Oh Niecie lets hope they are just 'having a moment' then.

I've done it - I've been and got digi ones and of course have already gotten on them :( Wish I hadn't but not going to be too pissed about it til tomorrow morning when I'll try at the right time of day. They claim 4.5lb more than my old ones grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Niecie · 26/11/2010 13:48

Oh that is annoying!

I would agree that it is best ignored for now since you were presumably fully clothed and have eaten today? They seem to need to settle down a bit.

I was wondering whether they ever get affected by the weather as well. But that might just be me clutching at straws. Smile

solo · 27/11/2010 00:59

Niecie, no, it just took me to the list of topics. In the end, as you can see, I just blasted out the basic message!

Definitely don't worry about the weight at lunch time florence, that doesn't count :)

I'm freezing! am home alone as Dd wouldn't wake up at my Mums to come home, so I put her to bed there and Ds is staying with her...never done this since Dd was born but for 1 night! Grin
On the way home a fox ran right out in front of my car and I ran over it; he was closely followed by another and they kept running :( I hate animals being hurt...I went back to see, but I could only see one fox and it leapt over a 6 foot fence, so I'm hoping that it/they are ok.

florencerusty · 27/11/2010 10:29

Oh no Solo that is horrid - I have been seen searching for rabbits in verges after similar events!

Well AF is here AGAIN! and the scales say 12st 13lb so not as little as I'd hoped but am remaining positive because regardless of numbers I have lost weight - lots of trousers now fit that didnt a month ago. So today is a new starting weight.

Niecie · 27/11/2010 11:12

Oh Solo that is horrible. Not nice to hurt anything. I know the guilt too - I ran over a pheasant last year. They usually run right across the road and keep going. This one didn't, it turned and looked at me. It was on a dual carriageway and, being on a dual carriage way and going fast, stopping was not an option - I wouldn't have made it. I considered swerving but couldn't decide which way it would run if it came to its senses. Unfortunately, in the split second I had, I couldn't decide and it didn't run so I got it head on in broad day light. Horrible.Sad Thankfully the boys didn't see.

Despite all that I hope you enjoyed your night without children and more to the point, a quiet morning this morning!

Florence, sod the scales, if the trousers say you have lost weight, you have lost weight! Far more reliable. Well done!

solo · 28/11/2010 23:09

Thank you ladies.

Morning was lovely thanks!

I love it when clothes fit when they didn't previously...my jeans feel loose, but I haven't got into anything I couldn't before. Onwards and upwards...

florencerusty · 29/11/2010 08:46

But looser is only a little step from next size down :)

Not had a good weekend at all but yeah onwards and upwards (or downwards in the case of the scales )

Niecie · 29/11/2010 09:01

Not sure if it is the cold weather or the imminent arrival of AF but I have had terrible munchies this weekend. Daren't get on the scales. Sad

Off out Christmas shopping with DH today too. Lets hope the traipsing round the shop calories burnt are greater than calories from our once a year treat of having lunch together, without the children! I am hopeful I will burn some with it being so cold because Artic Explorers have to burn huge amounts of calories just to get up in the morning, don't they, so I will have to too.Smile

solo · 29/11/2010 12:07
Grin

Not a good combination Niecie; AF and the freezing cold weather :(

I'm still at 14st 9lb, so no more loss, but I did have a big Sunday lunch yesterday, so I'm grateful not to have gained weight!

Go my weigh in on Weds with the nurse...not looking forward to that; I don't like her scales.

Niecie · 29/11/2010 20:39

I bet you will be fine at the nurse - I was looking back over the thread and you are heading in the right direction. So what if it is slow? Slow loss is good - it is more likely to stay off. Smile

Does the nurse expect you to lose a certain amount?

I have spent most of the day being cold. Even in the restaurant we were sat near the window and ended up cold. My hot chocolate first thing was actually tepid chocolate (I declined the squirty cream so not too awful). I hope I have frozen a few calories off. Just have to steer clear of all things proper chocolatey this evening.Smile

solo · 29/11/2010 23:30

No, I don't think she does, just me...

How was the chocolate temptation Niecie?

Niecie · 30/11/2010 10:02

Managed to steer clear of the chocolate!!

Actually once I had parked my bum on the sofa last night, I was so swaddled in blankets and scarfs that I didn't move off it again until bedtime. Even the thought of emerging from the pile for chocolate was a step too far. Grin

Got a thin covering of snow this morning. Somehow it is still colder than last winter when we had inches and inches of the stuff. I don't remember being this cold last winter at all. Mind you I had an extra 2 stone of blubber back then!!Smile

solo · 30/11/2010 11:22

Hooray! good on you!

We have around 3 or 4 inches of snow here too. Chilly!!! I don't like snow if I have to go out in it that's for sure! and I have to today. Dd still unwell, but a bit brighter.

Same weight today, so I think I need to change tack. Maybe I'll make some soup...or eat lots of bacon and eggs! hmmmmmmmmm!

florencerusty · 30/11/2010 14:03

Well done Niecie and you're right I have never been so cold in my life as I was the year I lost 4 stone! Well done for aoiding the chocolate :)

Solo - I'm all for bacon and eggs but not sure its very slimming friendly lol

Feel a bit down, AF and seem to be a bit static :(

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Niecie · 01/12/2010 12:01

Still cold!! And breezy. Brrrrrr!!

Need to get out of the house and do some shopping but it is so chilly!! What a wimp!

Need to go sooner rather than later too or I am going to be so hungry I will make rash purchases and overeat.....again.Blush

Soup is supposed to be the dieters friend apparently - it takes longer to digest than proper food. I once saw a programme about how people who ate a meal whole lost less weight than those who had the same meal liquidised as a soup. Weird.

And I think bacon and eggs is OK so long as you do an Atkins stylee diet and cut out the carbs. If you can do that you are a better woman than me. Grin

I think my problem is I can't decide what approach I am taking and end up doing the treat bits of several different approachs and none of the diet bits.

Maybe I should buy the Rosemary Conley mag and do whatever 2 week blitz they have this month - hopefully get things kick started again.

solo · 01/12/2010 17:54

Well! It took me 9 1/2 hours to travel less than 8 miles yesterday! was awful. I was with Dd and I have to say; she was a star! She even managed to hold onto a wee for around two hours ~ not bad for a 3.11yo.
There were real live Angels in our lives too in the form of a lady and I think her daughters as they walked along the very long queue of vehicles offering coffee, bottled water, fruit and digestive biscuits to us! brings a tear to my eye actually. I gave them a pack of disposable cups and took just a little water for Dd in one to make it go further, plus Dd had a banana and I had a small but welcome hot coffee and a digestive...they refused any money, asking that I pass it along instead (the good deed). How utterly wonderful were they?!
We hadn't eaten since lunch, Dd hadn't had breakfast, she was still feeling unwell. We left at about 2.30 and abandoned the car at about 11.30, walked to my Mums and arrived there at midnight. Knackered! Grin

Sometimes, lots of eggs and bacon speeds up the metabolism and weight does drop off.
I was still 14 9 yesterday, so clearly stuck.

Niecie · 01/12/2010 22:44

Wow, what a trip! And what lovely people to help out like that. Roughly which region do you live in?

We don't have it nearly that bad down here in the South. We had our share last year. DH had to walk 4 miles home from work just before Christmas last year because the whole town was completely gridlocked - nothing moved for hours. His colleagues who left before him all had horrendous journies home. One woman took 12 hours to do 15 miles. Another took 6 hours to do 3miles so it sounds similar to you. Awful!

Your DD sounds like a trouper though. I hope she feels better soon.

Oh and then at the beginning of January, DS1 (who was 9) went on a residential field trip and got snowed in there which was a bit traumatic for him as he was so unhappy about going anyway that his teacher was on the phone to us every five minutes with updates and suggesting that if weather permitted we go and get him. Hmm It took 2 days before I could!!

All tales to tell for years to come! You won't forget yesterday in a hurry.

Foodwise I have been OK today but not great. Tomorrow is another day I suppose but I have got to make some cakes tomorrow for the school fair on Friday. I don't normally bother but feel I ought to make the effort occasionally. I might have to make two batches if DS2 gets his way which won't be good!

solo · 01/12/2010 23:20

Harrumph! I just wrote out a long answer and lost it!

Can't even consider trying to recall what I wrote!

Niecie · 01/12/2010 23:45
Grin

(that was at the empty calories not he lost post - that must be very annoying!)

You haven't ventured back to your house then?Don't blame you if you haven't - wait for it to thaw. Hopefully it will be OK to drive again soon!
