Am going to stop eating crap and lose 4 stone. Want to help me stay on the straight and narrow?

That's it really. Need to lose 4 stone, have failed at every diet I've tried so am going back to basics - 3 low fat meals, 2 healthy snacks, 2 litres of water, more exercise.

I have to do it - on a serious note, have two gorgeous DCs and I want to be fit for them - this weight is not good for me and I know that I'm putting myself at risk of heart trouble, diabetes etc etc - and what's more, I want to wear a size 12 again - instead of size 20 for fuck's sake.

Have failed on all the summer weight loss threads so am hoping that starting my own will spur me on! So anyone with me? Or just want to come and shout at me when I want a chunky kit kat?

Well I would be up for a Friday weigh-in. I was doing it everyday Mondays but I suppose if you do Fridays and you have a bad weekend, you've got all week to get back on track!! Smile

Solo, if your scales are broken, can you go to somebody else's house once a week and do a weigh in there? One of your 'plump' friends maybe? OK it wouldn't be a first thing in the morning naked weigh in but so long as you did it at roughly the same time of day every week you would still be able to plot your loss fairly accurately.

solo · 04/10/2010 22:57

Yes, I'd be up for the weigh in on here and I will try to buy a new set of scales before I actually knuckle down to DIET!!!

Thank you all for dragging me along :) (notice the lack of pie in that? Grin)

Preciousdaisybear · 04/10/2010 23:21

I'm up for a weekly weigh-in. Must stop doing it every day as the fluctuations are a bit demoralising... Let's do it!

mamadiva · 05/10/2010 08:12

Morning all how is everyone today?

It's my little sisters' 5th birthday today so me and DS need to go to McDonaalds with them for tea tonigght. Don't know what to get that is even remotely det friendly...

Niecie that's why I go to my meetngg on a Thursday :o

Solo sometimes you just need a kick up the arse to get motivated, I'm sure we've all been there! I have the £10 WW scales from Asda and they seem to be okay if that's any use to you.

Motivational point 5 for me: The inside of my thighs really hurts with all the bloody rubbing :(

Niecie · 05/10/2010 13:28

Oh yes, Mamadiva, the sore thighs.

I had those last year even though it was a crap summer -sudacream every night yuck. But this year, one and half stone down, when it was really hot in June and July, they didn't hurt half so much. I was surprised so small a loss (relatively speaking - out of 7st it isn't much) could make such a big difference when I can't really see my thighs are any smaller!

Excellent motivational point.

I have another one which surprised me too -

Being able to bend down to do your shoe laces up without suffocating yourself.

Before losing a bit, when I leant forward to do my shoes laces up, the size of my stomach crushed my chest and it was really unpleasant. I was virtually holding my breath trying to do them up because there was no room for my lungs to expand so I could breath. Horrible. No such trouble now. Smile

And I can cross my legs again.

I can only dream of what wonderful experiences I will encounter with the loss of the rest of the weight. Grin

SparkyMalarky · 05/10/2010 21:35

Hi everyone - not caught up on the posts as I just wanted to say hi and sorry for disappearing. Had a few tricky days at home, but getting back to normal so back on the straight and narrow for me :)

Did I hear mention of a weekly weigh in - exactly what I need. I'm in. Right, am off to read up on what you've all been up to - are you all doing very well?

OP posts:
solo · 05/10/2010 22:41

God yes! the suffocation of put socks on and tying shoe laces...
The rubbing thighs! the walking with knees kind of together and the calves apart as only over weight people do...

Thanks for the scales tip; I'll have a look for those :)

solo · 06/10/2010 23:37

Asda were sold out of all scales today, so I'll have to pass on Fridays weigh in. Have a streaming cold right now, so not in the mood to start eating sensibly anyway :(

How's everyone else doing?

Preciousdaisybear · 07/10/2010 09:53

Solo: sorry to hear you're feeling poorly. Hot toddy?

Are we going to weigh in tomorrow? Full of tredipdation as haven't been on scales all week but also have not been good. DH has been buying peanuts (BOO HISS) and can't resist after finally finishing chores and getting to sit down in pm. So hopeless Blush

Still today's another day...

mamadiva · 07/10/2010 10:35

Hello all,

Solo- Hope you feel better soon, nothing worse so just kick back and chillax :o

Niecie- sounds like you've done well! Glad to hear that it does make a difference.

Precious- Yup weigh in tomorrow, I'm dreading as I know I've put 9on weight this week because monthlys have decided to show up and thus have been stuffing my face with poop Blush:o

Does anyone else have that problem? How do you cope...

solo · 07/10/2010 11:10

Thanks girlies! feel like crap today.

Might have a reason for the weight gain...thyroid. Going for a blood test tomorrow morning, so I should know soon.
It went over active when I was pg with Dd and I lost loads of weight, so I guess I'll have more trouble losing weight if it's gone under active

Niecie · 07/10/2010 15:21

Solo, sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. Let's hope it is at least the kind of cold that makes you lose your sense of taste and not feel like eating. Rather that than the kind of cold that you need to feed.

Not particularly looking forward to the weigh in either. I seem to be stuck. I finally handed in my final OU assignment today so I am no longer a student which is good, and it means I can start being a bit more active after weeks of being desk bound - maybe that will help although I am losing the faith a bit at the moment.
I haven't eaten much in the last few days except toast - too stressed with the work and DS2 is home with a temperature too which I could have done without (as I am sure could he, bless him).

Feeling a bit sorry for myself really, rather than relieved which is a shame because after 2 years without a break between modules - I deserve to feel a bit more relieved. Oh well maybe tomorrow and there is always the weekend to look forward to.

Niecie · 07/10/2010 15:23

Blimey, punctuation, spacing, sense of humour - seems I have posted the whole lot i the envelope to the OU. Blush

Please forgive my last post - I'll be a bit more upbeat tomorrow!

solo · 07/10/2010 15:34

Well done! Niecie. You may just need a bit of a 'come down' after the studying, but I'm sure the relief will set in soon. :)

mamadiva · 08/10/2010 08:29

Well... I've put 3.5lbs Blush but I knew that so I know what I need to do to fix it, and I guess I have still lost 4lbs o verall :( but still upbeat....

Solo best to get it checked as atleast you will kno0w and they will give you ways to try to combat it! Hope you feel better today :)

Niecie well doen you for getting it all completed! Your head will be a pile of mush for the next few days but you will soon see the benfits of FREEDOM :o

Hope your DS feels better soon too :)

Mamadiva- 17.5.1/2 lbs +3.1/2lbs

mamadiva · 08/10/2010 08:31

No wait will try that again- does that format make sense? Then I will copy and paste all into one at the end of today when everyone has posted or tomorrow am.

Mamadiva 17.5 1/2 (+3.5lbs) Overall -4lbs

Niecie · 08/10/2010 11:41

How about the latest person to post copies all the weigh-ins from the person who posted before? That you save you having to collect them up Mamadiva.

But we can do it your way if you want - I don't mind.

Mamadiva 17.5 1/2 (+3.5lbs) Overall -4lbs
Niecie 15.12 1/2 (-1lb) Overall -5.5lbs

I'm starting from where I started with this thread as it didn't seem fair to include all the loss since Feb and anyway, I want to give over this 'stuck' phase I seem to be going through. Also I still think of myself as 17st 12.8lb and I'm not and I'm finding it demotivating because I still think I have a huge mountain to climb and really it is a slightly smaller mountain in the foothills of the bigger one now.

Mamadiva - 4lbs is 4lbs and worth it. Probably the 3.5lbs will come off easily if they have gone on so quickly this week. Can't be real weight gain - even I on the large bar of Dairy Milk a night diet, couldn't eat an extra 11,000 in a week so I reckon it must be water. Grin

mamadiva · 08/10/2010 12:41

Yes your way soudns easier :o

Well done Niecie! I have taken mine from start of thread too. I hope it will come off easily this week. I have pigged out though but still!

Can't wait till I'm under 17st as that will be a huge motivation for me!

solo · 09/10/2010 11:29

Hi all...
I didn't come on here yesterday evening, I feel sooo unwell! sore chest and a barking cough, sore head and runny nose :( please someone rub my back for me
Anyway, I'm still on the lookout for a scales so I can weigh in.

Well done everyone else for being so good and resolved! Keep it up :)

florencerusty · 10/10/2010 16:11

CAn I join this thread or is it too late?

Background is never been smaller than a 14 been as big as a 24. Weightwatchered years ago down to a 16 met new husband.

Got pregnant, little boy stillborn pregnant again 9 months later and now she's 2.
Size 20 now and its causing a problem with our sex life :(
Can't afford WW or SW but need to do something :(

Very sad

xxx

Niecie · 10/10/2010 17:55

Hi Florencecrusty, of course it isn't too late to join. The more the merrier. We have just this week started weigh-ins on Fridays so now would be good time to start.

You sound like you have had a really tough time. So sorry about your little boy. Sad I am sure that your weight has been the least of your worries.

However, if you feel you need to do something now you are very welcome to join in. Do you have a plan or are you just going down the healthy eating and more exercise route? Do you have a target?

If it helps, Food Focus isn't exactly WW or SW but you can keep a weight and food log and it will work out what you need to do to lose weight,i.e. how many calories you need to eat to meet you target, how much exercise you need to do, that kind of thing. It will also work out the calorific value of your food.

Niecie · 10/10/2010 17:57

Solo, hope you are feeling better today. Sounds like a bad one!

Hope it is the sort that put you off your food. Wink

florencerusty · 10/10/2010 20:39

Thank you Niecie

Our scales say I am 14 stone so I'll start there shall I?
Thanks for the link will take a look now.
Just cutting down for now I suppose. Have been having full fat milk in the house for years so today have downgraded to semi and not eaten anything that wasn't part of a meal.
Mind you am having an attack of the munchies now so resisting!!!!!

Have to do something have got to get hubby interested again :(
x

solo · 10/10/2010 23:44

Hi all!
Florence, why don't you try that purple labelled milk? it's less fat than semi, but tastes just as good :) I've just changed and it's fine!

Niecie...not much puts me off my food sadly. They do say 'feed a cold, starve a fever.' Hmm Coughing badly still, but I'll live :) I'll be glad to know about my thyroid though. I walked down 5 steps at home this morning and was out of breath! that can't be good can it?

florencerusty · 11/10/2010 09:37

Thanks Solo thing is bit of a pain to have different milks for different people in this house so will see how it goes with the 'green' for now and we'll all have it. In theory that must make a difference already surely? Or is that wishful thinking?
Sorry to read you arent well.

Managed bare meals yesterday but that might have been from the upset.
