So today is D day! Diet starts today, I have my first slimming world class tonight and i am feeling quite motivated. I think I probably have around 3 stones to lose, but i would be happy to even lose 2. I just feel fat and unhealthy and have never been this big before!

So today is day 1 of sorting myself out! Just wondered if anyone else was starting today too, not just slimming world, but any thing, and wanted to have somewhere to chat, swap ideas, or get some moral support?

hi, please don't talk too loud. am very ipressed with the list of chocolatey things wynken.
Izzy what an amazing loss.
well yesterday I was quiite good, stuck to vodka and diet coke all night and had a massive baked potato. just eating boiled eggs then back to bed for me, how much does sw actually cost you every week, am really thinking about it, all your losses seem so much more than mine.

dh doing s rosst latre but not entirley sure I will be able to face it.

Lulumaam · 19/09/2010 13:37

also loving the new name !!

this morning i had smoked salmon, cottage cheese and a hard boiled egg for brekky

going to have jacekt spud with tuna, red onion and a 1/2 tbsp of salad cream

out for dinner,so going to aim for a piece of plain fish or meat, with veg and salad and ask for no butter. it's a restaurant we go to a lot, so i am sure they will accomodate my diet-y demands.

findingtheRialme · 19/09/2010 14:46

LOL dita - good day out then?

feeling a bit perkier now - maybe I was hungry!. Got the kitchen cleaned from breakfast just in time to make lunchHmm and now it's clean until time to make the curry (and i think if my worst enemy or MIL rang now and invited us for tea I would be there like a shotWink)

sadly while I was sparkling the kitchen the boys have trashed the rest of the houseSad Have to taken them to visit my parents later as we bought my mum a ticket to a local show as an early birthday present (so she can take DS1 for me - his friend is in it) and we need to give her it.

Lulumaam · 19/09/2010 14:50

i've been a bit ratty, i do think it is sugar withdrawal. i've gone from eating biscuits and lots of sugary tea and coffee to 1 tspn of sugar a day. i have had two sugary fixes, but i think it has been a reduction of 95% in sugar intake. hence feeling lethargic and bad tempered.. i think !

just praying i've lost weight tomorrow at the first weigh in, though lots of people have said the first week can be a bit disappointing and it really kicks in the second week

what curry you making?

ditavonteesed · 19/09/2010 16:32

meant to say loving the new name. am trying to follow you guys recipes more now, I have another week until I an afford to join so someone be kind and give me a curry recipe, I could really fancy curry. Smile

moocowmrs · 19/09/2010 16:33

Help ! I am struggling with not baking ! ( and I wonder how I got to be this size) I enjoy doing pubs for dh and cakes etc he has a manual working from home job so likes to have something nice to eat with his cuppa, so was wondering if anyone had any suggestion for low syn baking. Apart from taht god awlful weetabix thing !!

DontCallMeBaby · 19/09/2010 16:48

Baking ... I was going to make cookies from the booklet in the current magazine (if you search for SW cookies online you should find it; it has toffee Mullerlight in) but the one thing I forgot to buy from the supermarket was ... guess? Not an ingredient, but new batteries for my kitchen scales. I don't suppose I can weigh flour on a Wii Fit board, can't I? :o

It's probably just as well - my other baking plan for the day was to make flapjacks for DD's packed lunches, and I suspect that's a test that my willpower would not have stood up to. There's also a muffin recipe on the Splenda box that I will do sometime, though I'll have to work out the syns from scratch for that.

moocowmrs · 19/09/2010 17:00

Will buy the mag next week then and get teh cookie recipie, they sound ok thanks for that ! ohh and a muffin recipe would be good, quick to make and just fill a gap Thanks x

findingtheRialme · 19/09/2010 17:31

LOL at weighing flour on the Wii fit! Why not?Grin

Dita - you are a far stronger person than me if you can eat eggs with a hangover! The boys always seem to want eggy bread when I'm hungover

Chicken and veg curry - serves 4, free on EE
1 medium onion, finely chopped, fry in fry light 5-6mins. Add 1 inch ginger, grated, 2 tsp crushed garlic, 2tbspn mild curry powder and a pinch of turmeric, cook on high heat for 1-2 mins.
Add 681g chicken thighs cut into bitesize pieces and cook until sealed. Add tin chopped tomantoes, 511ml chicken stock, 5oz green beans, 2 medium carrots and 2 red peppers cut into bitesize pieces and a pinch of sweetner. Bring to boil, cover and cook over reduced heat for 20-25 mins until chicken and veg cooked. Remove from heat and add 7oz fat free fromage frais and seasoning. Serve with rice.

There is a SW cookbook devoted to curries I believe. Not sure about baking though.

ditavonteesed · 19/09/2010 17:52

thanks Smile I used to be weak of stomach about eggs but these days all my eggs are fresh that day from my back garden.

ElizabethWakefield · 19/09/2010 18:03

You are all doing so well, I actually feel embarrassed reading you posts because I have just been so bad this weekend, it all went downhill after the curry on Friday night.

I am honestly dreading the weigh in tomorrow night at my class.

Had planned to do a car boot sale with my friend today, had never done one before so thought it might be a laugh?! Got up at 4am to leave, after 4 hours sleep, it was torrential rain. I packed a flask of tea and rice cakes...stupidly thinking that would get me through the morning!

We arrive at 5am, torrential rain, no shelter at all and we are given the space next to the van selling breakfast rolls...waaaah! Manage 4 hours (still raining) before caving in and having a roll Blush Then after a further 4 hours (of heavy rain soaked right up to my knees) we decide to call it a day and head to McDonalds!Blush but it was the nearest warm, dry, indoor place! I stupidly thought the veggie deli roll thing would be quite low fat, but it was full of mayo....

We made £160 so not all bad, but weigh in will not be fun!! Next week I will be so much better!! Promise!

Just a quick question if I make a smoothie, no juice in it just lots of fruit and muller light, is that still free or because I have blized it does it become syns. Fruit and yougurt is what I would normally have for brekkie just thinking i could speed up the morning if I did this and could drink !

AngryPixie · 19/09/2010 20:35

Once juiced it is no longer free, not sure of the syn value though

RedBlueRed · 19/09/2010 23:36

Do we think there is any way that a glass of red wine can constitute my HEB?

I'm trying to follow the plan but I'm more of an ad lib kind of dieter...

Keziahhopes · 20/09/2010 00:19

Hi - may I join?

I started a SW class at the end of May and initially did quite well on it, but for 8 weeks have "maintained" and I have just got totally stuck! I joined to get my BMI down below 30 for IVF (go on Friday for hopefuly treatment protocol!) and I have done that, so lost momentum - and eaten too many snacks.

I do green as dont' eat meat, but fish soemtimes.

findingtheRialme · 20/09/2010 10:11

I have to say I think it's a silly rule about fruit, if you would eat 1 banana and 1 yogurt or whatever, then it should be the same blitzedHmm, obviously not if you have to blitz 5 bananas thoughWink

my night went downhill too EWBlush. the curry was nice though, but I would have liked more than half a mini naan with it. Next time I will dig out the recipe for SW bahjis and make it a feast. DH bought wine...

am waiting for DH to go to work so i can get on with painting the boys ceiling (easier if he doen't know I'm doing it til its done) tht will stop me eating at least, just hope I finish in time to stay on plan with teaHmm

AngryPixie · 20/09/2010 10:25

I think thats the reason, no one in their right mind would eat 10 apples, but juice 10 apples and you probably only have half a glass. Fruit is quite calorific.

I'm not following it to the letter though, I am basically doing red plan but with v little carbs at all, no bread even as a H.E.

I'm hoping to my half stone this week (wk2) but may have to refrain from any more wine til Thursday Grin

Welcome Keziahhopes, what an incentive you have!

DontCallMeBaby · 20/09/2010 15:56

I agree with the thinking about the fruit - I thought the thing about the eight oranges was ludicrous at first, then thought, well, you wouldn't eat eight oranges, and if you did they'd fill you up, whereas a glass of juice is on the side of a meal, goes down in 5 seconds, and you don't even notice you've had it. But if it was fruit you were going to eat anyway, what does it matter?

I am taking a very pragmatic approach though - if one thing is 250 calorie and very filling, and another is the same and not filling, if I fancy the non-filling thing I'll eat it, and just be bloody-minded about NOT eating other stuff because I'm not full up.

This may or may not work though, I don't have a good feeling about it this week.

ElizabethWakefield · 20/09/2010 16:29

Afternoon all, have managed to get back on track last night and today, although have not had much to eat at all today, so am now having the should I or shouldn't I have dinner before I get weighed in class dilemma!?

Haven't managed to get a proper food shop done this weekend as normal, between DD not being well and carbooting, so have grabbed some things on my way home from work and will do a proper food shop tomorrow, but I am feeling quite unprepared, which I don't like!

Lulu, quite fancy doing the baked rice you mentioned earlier for dinner tomorrow. If you do veggies with it do you normally put them in raw? And how much water do you normally put in? Just enough to cover the rice or more? Thanks.

Not looking forward to stepping on the scales later!!!

findingtheRialme · 20/09/2010 18:25

good luck EW.

I like the sound of the ric too. Will try it later in the week.

Have been angelic so far today, due to the bloody ceiling needing 4 coats of paintShock (DH painted it dark blue about 6 years ago when he did a wizard themed room for DS1, he did this while I was on holidayHmm) Am just (very late) doing a roast dinner with pork chops and am having gravy and yorkshire pudding for my syns. Yum.

Haven't made tomorrows salad yet, or planned tea and am out all day, so no idea how it will go. Hope i don't resort to medicinal wine later (although goodness knows i deserve it after the paintingWink)

Lulumaam · 20/09/2010 20:56

5.5lbs off ! Grin
v v v pleased !! woooo hoooooooooooooo

would have been slimmer of the week if it hd not been my first week.

thrilled !

and got some new recipe ideas

EW, re the baked rice, i would sauté the veg first or roast seperately if leaving chunky or if small dice, throw in wi th the rice, will be more like a sauce though

add a few inches of water and you can add more whilst it cooks

ElizabethWakefield · 20/09/2010 21:02

Excellent Lulu, well done!! That's a fantastic start. Smile

You will definitely need the wine after giving the ceiling 4 coats of paint!! Just think of the exercise!!

I lost 1.5 tonight, I was pleased after how bad I have been all weekend, and got my half stone award Smile

Will give the rice a go tomorrow. Looking forward to it!

well done E.W, am curious to know if you will transform into Jessica as you lose weight.
Bugger, Bugger Bugger Yeo vally organic fat free vanilla yoghurt is not syn free. Did I measure what I put on my banana,no, did I check the ingredients after seeing it on special offer,no are 3 of the ingredients after milk sugar, why yes, just when I had used my syn allowance on chocolate when devil child finally asleep. And the diet Twix was a con, still 9 syns and parctically all air, in future am sticking to proper food in smaller quanities.
Thourght I was doping so well with my shopping, have to do maths now hmm 75/450 x 4.5, around .8 . breathes sigh of relief.

I really hate wasting my syns, spent loads first week absent mindedly finishing off my 21/2year olds food

ElizabethWakefield · 20/09/2010 22:15

You are right, I might have to change my name Grin

I also bought a huge big tub of yoghurt that wasn't syn free today too, Rachel's organic vanilla, was so annoyed.

Annoying about the diet twix! Will remember to not bother buying one!

Keziahhopes · 20/09/2010 22:32
