So today is D day! Diet starts today, I have my first slimming world class tonight and i am feeling quite motivated. I think I probably have around 3 stones to lose, but i would be happy to even lose 2. I just feel fat and unhealthy and have never been this big before!

So today is day 1 of sorting myself out! Just wondered if anyone else was starting today too, not just slimming world, but any thing, and wanted to have somewhere to chat, swap ideas, or get some moral support?

I'm pretty sure the quorn sausages are free, the SW site won't let me on. That's all great. You need to fit in another Healthy extra B (or did you combine 2 for the toast ) and have a healthy extra A, plus the only syns you've had today is the butter so you'll probably need to have a few more as you need to have at least 5.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 26/10/2010 18:14

Good luck Keziah, have my fingers crossed for you.

You're sorted then, well done, one day under your belt !

DontCallMeBaby · 26/10/2010 18:32

I have a 6yo DD - I have all that alien stuff to come.

Hm, today so far: two pain au chocolat for lunch (no breakfast), two cups of tea so far, about six skinny chips from DD's portion ... I think I need to go back to basics. Blush Weigh-in later, after which I shall have the butternut squash soup I made earlier. I think the chips have stopped the carb craving that would otherwise have made me accompany it with about six slices of toast.

findingtheRialme · 26/10/2010 18:49

hi guys, good luck with weigh-ins.

Had a fab day food-wise yesterday (bacon and egg sandwich - HEB and pineapple for breakfast, spicy butternut soup and leftover pasta bake with fruit for lunch, roast chicken, dry roast potatoes and parsnips, shed-loads of veg, gravy, stuffing and a yorkshire pudding and 2 small glasses of wine) OK, so over 15 syns, but I didn't continue it into supper time with more wine and many packs of crisps and chocolate etc, which is a massive achievement for me, and I have been planning that meal for ages, though I felt like I'd spent so long in the kitchen I didn't make apple crumble. Was very pissed off with Dh last night so went to bed early.

Am still pissed off today (grudges, me?), so have been more good! Also had rotten night with lower back/hip pain, so got up and had ibuprofen and went back to bed, then had paracetamol too and it made me feel sick and groggy. Chicken salad sandwich for lunch, and bubble and squeak with bacon, egg and beans (DH must have sussed he is in the wrong as he claims to have made tea using frylightShock). Have had wine with tea (because i am not flying solo with the boys, and also have spent the afternoon making 2 pumpkins and 2 butternut squash into "celebrities" for a pumpkin competition... so I deserve it!) may have another glss and a couple of matchmakers later. I know I am not being precise with synning, but I aren't on a massive binge, so I'm happy with that for this week. Might even go for a walk later.

sorry for boring with food detailsBlush

findingtheRialme · 26/10/2010 18:49

I have a 13 yo DS. Very alien.

whatkungfuthat · 26/10/2010 20:02

Hi everyone, hope you are all ok. I'm having a bad week this week. Not only am I wearing the drunken shame but also the shame of ordering a chinese on Sunday night because we got home a bit too late to start cooking Blush. When I weighed myself yesterday I had put on 5lbs Shock despite doing the shred dvd for the first time on Sunday morning. This morning I was down 2 but I am still 3 pounds heavier than this time last week so I have asked for a hols week and blamed the half-term so I can crack on with shred and try to have a decent loss for next week. Have also decided to give up wine till xmas....

ElizabethWakefield · 26/10/2010 22:20

Evening everyone!

I have a 10 yr old DD, I don't understand her and her friends, they either totally over the top love each other, or bitch about each other...there seems to be no middle ground Grin

I thought I had a good day today until I have just realised the cous cous salad I had for lunch was 7 syns Shock so no evening treat for me! Have had 12 syns today, I know that is still ok, but was hoping to keep some back for DP's birthday tomorrow.

DD had a halloween disco at school tonight and talked me into letting her spray her hair black, I spent ages scrubbing my bathroom after she washed it all off (it was all up the tiles, the bath was grey, and there was even some on the ceiling!!!) so presume that burned off some calories!!

Hope you had a good day grizzly, and hope the weigh ins tonight went well!

Good luck with the pumpkin competition Rial Grin

I bet you will lose the 3lbs and more next week kung!

Intrigued by the idea of carving a butternut squash - it was all I could do to chop mine up roughly for soup without accidentally decapitating myself. We haven't got a pumpkin yet - did a Halloween treasure trail at the pick-your-own place yesterday, which was quite fun, but their actual pumpkins for sale were a bit rubbish, so we'll have to go elsewhere. I'm going to try a Jack Skellington design this year, as opposed to my usual random little pumpkin people.

Weigh-in - down 1.5lb, total loss of 13lb. So I'm highly hopeful for the full stone next week. I got slimmer of the week too ... am I right in thinking you can only get slimmer of the week for losing the weight the first time? As in, if you yoyo a bit and re-lose weight, that doesn't qualify? Cos I was definitely runner-up, someone lost more but left early, but there were still people there who lost more than my modest 1.5lb. Two who did were a couple who've definitely been up and down a frew times.

Anyway, DH and DD can eat the baked beans, I'll give the mixed beans to my dad, have eaten one out of four tangerines, will try grapefruit with Splenda ... but what am I going to do with a great big turnip?!

ElizabethWakefield · 27/10/2010 00:09

Well done on slimmer of the week! You are the same as me, I have lost 13 too, fingers crossed we both make it to the first stone next week!! Smile

I think in order to be slimmer of the week, you must have attended class the week before, and also lost the week before.

Melty · 27/10/2010 05:47

Turnip? put it in the basket next week!
Well done. Smile
Had a work meal last night, and had about 40 syns, oops.
But otherwise having an ok week. Apart from having to be in so damm early!
Early mornings do not suit me at all-have to be in at 7.

desiretochange · 27/10/2010 06:20

Morning everyone, weighed in last night and lost 1lb, not a lot but considering I ate and drank too much wine at weekend am happy at least that it is going in the right direction Smile

ditavonteesed · 27/10/2010 07:48

Kung fu - how were you feeling after day 1, I am fine now infact wondering if I shoiul go up a level as not really feeling it, bt first couple of days were painful.
desire yay, 1lb off is great, especially iof you can live normal life iyswim.
melty 7 Shock you have my sympathy.
DCMB and Elizabeth, heres to one stone next week then, hoping not to be too far behind you.
keziah - hope ww was ok.

rial - photo's of the pumpkin and squashs are needed.
I had a good day yesterday, still sticking with the shred and enjoying it (odd). enjoying half term bveen out and about and very busy with the girls.

upsydaisysexstylist · 27/10/2010 08:50

Hi, well done on the losses, I found a pound this week. Know what I did wrong, buying mini gingerbread men is not good if you cannot stop at one, damm you waitrose. But always find it hard to break int o the next stone. Still we have a sucess express challange at group this week so am now on my first day of 2as,2bs,and 2/3s superfree at each meal, think I've remembered it right

whatkungfuthat · 27/10/2010 10:03

Well done on the losses. Our group does the fruit basket thing for slimmer of the week where everyone brings in a bit of fruit and the winner gets it, does everyone do this?

Dita, I've only done one 'shred' as the kids have been at home and very present (DS2 is 4) hubby is home now for the rest of the week so hopefully can start properly today. It was ok, exhausting but doable. The problem I had was all the jumping jacks etc, and what I thought was a supportive bra letting me down, so I did all those exercises clutching my boobs!

DontCallMeBaby · 27/10/2010 10:08

We have a basket of free foods, so there's some fruit but other stuff as well. Including Super Noodles. Hmm

I almost always forget to take something, so putting the turnip back is tempting - it's really big tho, will be very obvious!

desiretochange · 27/10/2010 10:21

Does everyone work out their food plan on a weekly basis or daily?

findingtheRialme · 27/10/2010 11:22

you could carve the pumpkin DCMB? Is the traditional thing in the north of England I think? or roast veg with harissa paste.

I didn't carve the squash, just decorated, more a fancy-dress pumpkin TBH. I don't know how to put pics on here.

Have started today well...Hmm

DontCallMeBaby · 27/10/2010 13:49

Ooh, Halloween turnip, there's an idea ...

Desire, I do weekly menu planning for dinners, but take breakfast and lunch as they come. When I'm at work I have stuff to go in packed lunches - Ryvita, light Philly, ham, light Babybel, carrots, grapes, apples, Mullerlight, cereal bars, etc, and just chuck a selection of stuff in each day. Weekends are rather hit or miss, and this being halfterm is proving rather interesting. DD and I have just had homebaked cheese scones for lunch - made with skimmed milk, lower fat spreadable butter, and lower fat cheese, AND we've left some, so not too bad, hm? The dinner planning is no more than I did pre-diet really, I work out seven evening meals (or six-and-we'll-have-a-takeaway-soddit if I'm uninspired), allocate some to particular days (if something's going to go out of date, if someone is coming round, or if I'm going to be short of time, etc) and do the others as the fancy takes me.

desiretochange · 27/10/2010 14:10

Thanks DCMB am so flipping hit and miss with my attempts at Slimming World - joys of doing it with just the book Hmm

whatkungfuthat · 27/10/2010 15:35

desire, I try and roughly plan dinners based on the weekly shop but I tend to have the same things for breakfast and lunch during the week. We are trying really hard to cut out the takeaway at weekends and if we do get one its usually a chicken kebab without the pitta. I do sometime give in to a chinese though by kidding myself that if we get plain rice its not too bad [hblush] I'm getting really fed up with a lot of the dinners now though.

Lulumaam · 27/10/2010 15:37

well done to those who've lost !!

and if you've gained, there's no shame in a gain or a maintain !

so, last night DH baked a big gooey chocolate cake , with the DCs, filled with marshmallows and chocolate chips. i did have a v small slice, have counted it as 15 syns as no idea how many syns, but had had a syn free day up to then.

hoping it was not too many more than that..eeeeeeeeek !

today have been v good, no syns yet, but am ravenous and keep eyeing the biscuit tin, and then reminding myself i am a whisker away from 20lbs off, 3 lbs off club ten and doing really really well

but i am HUNGRY and craving SUGAR

i have had 4 fat free activias in varying flavours through the day, in the hope it will help. going ot have early dinner and make it v v filling. beef & veggie stir fry with heaps of boiled egg rice.

Lulumaam · 27/10/2010 15:38

i try to plan each week, factoring in maybe one take out.. usually chinese..boiled rice, chicken black bean and hot and sour soup - 10 syns approx.

mostly do a chicken based dish, beef based, mince based and egg based dishes

roast chicken with frylight chips or boiled potatoes , loads of veg

stiry fry beef and chicken with loads of boiled rice

ommlettes/frittatas

chillis , bolognese etc
