Starting slimming world today, anyone else starting to lose weight today want to join me for some moral support?

So today is D day! Diet starts today, I have my first slimming world class tonight and i am feeling quite motivated. I think I probably have around 3 stones to lose, but i would be happy to even lose 2. I just feel fat and unhealthy and have never been this big before!

So today is day 1 of sorting myself out! Just wondered if anyone else was starting today too, not just slimming world, but any thing, and wanted to have somewhere to chat, swap ideas, or get some moral support?

I meant shred Blush just weighed myself and the wii reckons I have put on 3lbs, which is not possible hoping it is some sort of blip, do feel reslly bloated this mornin g, will do official weigh in tom.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 25/10/2010 09:06

Rofl at Dita and her stripping, that's made my day! Sorry to hear about DD, hope she makes a quick recovery. Ignore the wii, mine told me I'd put on 2 on WI day where as the SW scales said I'd stayed the same, they'd been fairly accurate until then I had thought.

Ria, good news about DH. I hope half term goes alright, it's hard when you have small DC's. Hang in there, it gets easier when they are older.

Lulumaam, fingers crossed for your boot shopping. I read it as chocolate and honey in your stirfry and was thinking how unusual, hadn't thought of chocolate in a stirfy until I read it again!

Melty, well done. I do understand that feelng about wanting to be under a number. I'm 17.3 and desperate to be 16 something, as it feels like I've been 17 something for ages, which I know logically isn't true but I find time perception gets warped in strange ways. I've changed body shape, the bit under my ribs is now larger than my stomach and my backside and thighs are shrinking. Not sure about my boobs, I think they have shrunk a bit, really I should go bra shopping and get properly measured.

Thank you all for the gallbladder sympathy, it behaved itself last night and I slept like a log. I have set myself the challenge of getting my BMi to be somewhere under 30 before I have the op to remove it as I really don't want a general unless absolutely necessary at the minute. I do read about people who have problems after which worries me but I can't go on as I have been for ever and what happened to Elizabeth's Mum is horrific. What would be lovely is if the blasted thing settles down and it could just stay where it is without causing me pain. I'm not going to eat raw onion for a
bit and see if that helps as I think it has been kiccking it off recently. SW definitely definitely has helped though, I'm down from about 4 attacks a week to about one.

DontCallMeBaby · 25/10/2010 09:54

Phew, it's all go around here, isn't it? Hope everyone who needs to recover from something does so, and that no one else has any mishaps or needs to recover from anything.

We are at a bit of a loss today - have spent the entire weekend cleaning and tidying to have the house fit for the in-laws visiting, DH has the day off work (which was planned before his parents requested a visit admittedly), there is a big chicken in the fridge and a mass of potatoes and veg to go with it, DD was all excited ... and their car has broken down and they're not coming. Argh.

Meanwhile MY parents, for some utterly unknown reason, have decided to take their narrowboat out for pretty much the whole of halfterm (I guess the waterways aren't actually especially busy during this particular halfterm) so aren't available to come and eat chicken for us. DH has randomly given DD a choice of two substitute days out, one of which has Halloween stuff starting on Thursday, so I don't want to go today, and the other will be absolutely PERISHING cold (it's exposed and usually about 5 degrees coler than everywhere else).

The psychology of the weightloss numbers is interesting, isn't it? I had never quite resigned myself to being over 12st, although I have been for quite some time, let alone the 12st 7lb the SW scales came up with. So 11.5lb later I almost like I'm only a couple of pounds lighter, as some deep ingrained part of me had only ever admitted to 'nearly 12st', not considerably more. However the fact that I'm doing my belt up on the next hole and am halfway towards the next one tells a completely different story.

ElizabethWakefield · 25/10/2010 12:24

Hi everyone, thanks for all the good wishes. My mum is still not great at all, wont eat or anything, but there has been some improvement!

Wynken, I really hope i haven't worried you with what happened to my mum, it has definately been a disater and not the norm! Sorry to hear you are in lots of pain, I hope it settles down for you.

Ria glad your DH is recovering well and hope your DD is ok today, Dita.

I am re-starting today and trying to get back on track. I am not going to be able to make it to my class for the time being (i can't be sure when my mum would be well enough to watch DD while i went and it is a half hour walk there and back which I would feel rotten about dragging DD on now the weather is really turning) so I am just going to do it myself at home.

So I will weigh myself this evening on my home scales and just do that every Monday, worried that I wont be quite as motivated as i would if i was going to class, but I am confident that you will all keep me on the straight and narrow! Looking forward to getting back into it today, I feel all bloated and my skin has all broken out in spots! Basically due to how bad my diet has been the past 2 weeks!

Only slight problem is Wednesday is DP's birthday, and we are going for a curry, but if i have a good week and save some syns, i am sure it will be ok?!

OP posts:
ElizabethWakefield · 25/10/2010 19:35

Weighed tonight for the first time in 3 weeks and I appear to be 5lb down! Not sure if it due to all the running around i have been doing, but I am obviously pleased Grin

I did initially think the scales might be out, but my mum said they were accurate as she weighed the same on them the morning before her op as she did in her pre op assessment.

Just have another 1lb to go and that will be my first stone.

I did think I would have felt more of a difference having lost a stone, I mean some of my clothes are looser but not enough that I would need a size down yet. Anyway, not complaining!!

Hope all is well with everyone else Smile

Well done Elizabeth. Nothing like a bit of stress to burn up the calories!

Hi Angelina, well done. Thats really impressive.
If only I found it so easy to give up the snacks!
Unfortunately I dont have the luxury of saying my excess lard is related to having a baby. Purely gluttony and comfort eating.

You, on the other hand, have grown a little person, and as such you have my permission to weigh whatever you like. Wink

Lulumaam · 25/10/2010 21:43

hi elizabeth, sorry things not going so great for your mum.. hope things are more positive soon..

i lost 3.5lbs this week, giving me a total weight loss of 19.5 lbs in 6 weeks.

[grinGrinGrin

Keziahhopes · 25/10/2010 22:43

Lulu that is great 6 weeks Grin

Elizabeth sorry to hear about your Mum, but great that you still trying to do SW by yourself.

Am 1lb off my 10% target, but had emotional week, so .. will find out the truth tomorrow, eek!

Grizzlylou · 26/10/2010 05:22

Congrats to all the losers (iyswim), you're really inspiring.

My Wedding anniversary today, we are off out to a Castle for the day with the boys. Am taking a packed lunch and being mindful of weigh day tomorrow.

ditavonteesed · 26/10/2010 08:13

OMG, was really annoyed as I have maintained and feel I have been working really hard this week, so decided to measure my waist, I have lost an inch off my waist, an inch off my hips and and inch of my chest. dh says you can tell as well. Shock that is mad. I can't believe I forced myself to shred (not strip) last night after being out all day with the dc and knackered. glad I did now. [hgrin]

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 26/10/2010 08:27

Welcome Angelina and well done on your 13lbs and on the baby!

Lulumaam, that really is quite amazing, a huge well done ! Have you sorted your boots?

Elizabeth I'm so sorry about your Mum and hope she starts feeling a lot better very quickly. What has happened hasn't put me off, but it does make me more determined to be as fit and healthy as I can to give myself the best chance of recovery as I guess with any surgery there is always a chance it will go wrong as it has for your Mum. For the curry, chicken or lamb rogan or chicken dansak fit well with a portion of boiled rice on EE, 6 to 7 syns. You have us to keep you on the straight and narrow so don't worry about group. 5lbs over 3 weeks is great, though the circumstances it has been under not so good.

Keziah, good luck for tomorrow, fingers crossed for you and sorry it has been a difficult week.

Grizzly, happy anniversary, hope you have a lovely day.

Kungfu where are you? Have you recovered from your Saturday night?!

I had a lovely night's sleep again last night with my gallbladder behaving beautifully so no more takeaway curry for me for the foreseeable future. I'm going out tomorrow but have decided to go for steak, new potatoes and salad and make sure they leave any butter, salad dressings off. Made muffins the children and their friends yesterday who finished them off unbelievably quickly but I wasn't at all tempted to have a bite. Syns for the day were 6.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 26/10/2010 08:40

Melty, I meant to say yesterday, size 16 is the size the 'average' woman is isn't it ? So you are nearly average ! I was watching Nigella with DD last night and I reckon she's a 16, so you are turning into Nigella (but you have nicer recipes than her), plus next week you'll be 15 something.

Lulumaam · 26/10/2010 09:45

happy anniversary grizzly

keziah, i saw your other thread Sad hope things improve

angelina, congratulations!

dita, well done on sticking to the shred

congrats everyone on their weight losses

wynkne, glad your gall bladder is ok

elizabethe, hope things continue to improve

we're a big thread now !

i've had to order my uggs. not sure how long they'll be but the i know the lady in the shop, she's got my phone number and shes going to call me as soon as they're in!

desiretochange · 26/10/2010 10:28

Morning, have my weigh in tonight and despite being very good last week, Friday night started the downward slope, drank too much which in turn led to eating too much:(

Lulumaam · 26/10/2010 12:41

one day of eating too much should not make a difference !

i hope not anyway ! I got a pizza last night after weigh in, as been craving pizza. i then had the most awful headache, i am not sure if the two things are related!

today i put on some jeans that have not fitted me for a long time, not only do they fit, they are loose !! Grin very pleased.

i am 3.5 lbs away from club 10 too.

desiretochange · 26/10/2010 12:56

Congrats Lulu and hopefully when I hop (?) on scales tonight there will be some weight loss Hmm

Lulumaam · 26/10/2010 13:17

let us know how you get on ! as our consultant says 'there's no shame in a gain'

just draw a line under if, if you gain and start afresh tomorrow.

desiretochange · 26/10/2010 14:10

Will try and remember that Lulu:)

LastWitchFinder they are JEALOUS! :o

My parents are doing low-carb, my mum especially can't figure out how SW works (she knows someone else at my class, who sits around having big baked potatoes for lunch while my mum goes Confused). But it works, which is what counts! Plus if you go a bit wrong with low-carb your body chemistry goes all wrong and actually interferes with your weight loss, whereas with SW you just eat a bit too much, go 'oops' and start again.

Hello there Witchfinder, sorry I wasn't here to greet you having sent you here, I was listening to Paul Mckenna. Think I might join you with a few green days, I am in the mood for mountains of pasta at the moment.

Has anyone else been really cold today and wanted to eat loads? And does anyone else have an 11 year old DD or an older one, who can explain them to me please, they are currently like an alien species, the dynamics between the girls in DD's year needs a Ph.d to work out. I don't get them at all so resorted to making muffins again and eating my couscous (syned) muffins instead.

Quorn sausages free LastWitch - as long as plain quorn sausages and not the fancier flavours. Quorn mince and pieces both free.

About to go and get weighed. Thanks Lulu - comfort eating taken over Sad, but at least only one piece of cake, or 2 biscuits at a time, but not good for weigh in ... and am 1lb off 10% target which I so hoped to hit tonight!

LastWitch - your day's sound lovely - just one syn with butter? Wow!
