So today is D day! Diet starts today, I have my first slimming world class tonight and i am feeling quite motivated. I think I probably have around 3 stones to lose, but i would be happy to even lose 2. I just feel fat and unhealthy and have never been this big before!

So today is day 1 of sorting myself out! Just wondered if anyone else was starting today too, not just slimming world, but any thing, and wanted to have somewhere to chat, swap ideas, or get some moral support?

was looking at the fitflop boots but have wanted uggs for ages

findingtheRialme · 22/10/2010 22:11

Sad Elizabeth, much love and get well vibes to you and your mum, and just take care of yourself and her.

I love those bootsEnvy sadly I am a scruffy lump who doesn't go anywhere worth boots like that, let alone have anything to wear with them.

Am having a rubbish day. Incredibly painful TOTM (hurt to walk to school this afternoon Hmm), mild panic attack about driving the car with no children in it this morning after I dropped DH at work so I could go shopping Hmm. Have purchased crafting items and now can't be arsed as Dsis has sort of stolen my thunder (long story), abject misery at the total in Tesco, and the thought of half term meals plus DH home for 2 weeks and requiring feeding (he is a chef so is always at work at mealtimes, letting me off the hook somewhat), then just had a withheld phonecall with no-one there at around 9.30pm, cue paranoia and panicSad. Need a big fat kick up the arse! My total regain over the last few weeks (since I was ill) is 6lbBlush On the plus-side, my hideously expensive shopping is all SW friendly, and I will be back on plan breakfast and lunch tomorrow, but have to collect DH from hospital some time tomorrow afternoon I expect, requiring a scary drive I have never done before, so I make no promises for my third mealBiscuit

whatkungfuthat · 22/10/2010 22:20

Am drunk [blush}

whatkungfuthat · 22/10/2010 22:20

I meant Blush see, I told you I was drunk!

ditavonteesed · 23/10/2010 08:28

eliazbeth, so sorry and thinking of you, you can't possibly be worried about your eating at the moment, although I bet you will find you have still been quite good.
rial hope everything goes ok today.
I was a saint last night, not only did I not eat chocolate birthday gateau but I brought a piece home for dh.
wasn't too drunk last night, stuck to vodka and diet coke, don't have a hangover so no need to eat junk today which is good. muscles still a little bit sore but nothing like thursday not sure when I will fit shred in today but I will.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 23/10/2010 08:59

Elizabeth so sorry about your Mum Sad How awful for you all. If you do start back on Monday please don't put too much pressure on yourself and plan lots of quick easy meals that don't need much cooking or thought to ease yourself back in with plenty of your favourite treats to keep you going.

Lulumaam, someone up at school has the classic cardy ones in grey, I was looking at them yesterday thinking they looked good. But I like both the ones you've linked to and would be hard pressed to have to decide.

Dontcallme, I ordered mine a calf size down, it said in the reviews they came up big. Fingers crossed they are OK. I can't get my head round the idea that I might actually have a pair of boots which go over my calves. I really like the black ones but have some ankle boots in black so decided I'd better go for brown. I'm glad you're able to wear them now, that would have been
horrible to have them sitting there not being quite right.

Rial sorry you've had a bad day. The weight you list when you were ill was a lot of water I reckon and you do find that when you've lost it quickly through illness that it goes on again as it wasn't a true loss. You're still here despite everything that you've had to contend with the last few weeks and you WILL be thinner by Christmas, even if it a pound or so, they all count. I have been so scruffy the last few years but have decided it is time to change. I'm very lucky that my friend at SW has given me lots of clothes the next size down and she shops in places like Monsoon. But I have decided that I generally need to take more pride in my appearance on a day to day basis as to quote that cheesy advert, I'm worth it and I am no longer doing the whole 'i'll worrybabout it when I loose weight' and am doing it now. And I feel a whole lot better for doing so.

Dita, that is very impressive self control! You should work out how many syns the cake is, they are you Halo points ie the syns you didn't eat. Add the wine etc and crisps you didn't have as well and see how many syns you didn't eat, I bet it's loads.

whatkungfuthat · 23/10/2010 09:04

Oh god ladies, sorry! I really shouldn't drink wine on a mainly vegetable stir fry! Elizabeth sorry to hear about your mum, mine had something similar happen with an op last year Sad

findingtheRialme · 23/10/2010 16:52

hi guys, just checking in as bored and lonely. It is SO cold too, and raining and windy. not a jolly day at all.

DH is unexpectedly getting kept in overnight, and hadn't gone down to theatre half an hour ago. Have been awake since he left home at 4.30 (it is almost 2 hours drive from here to the hospital). Am very glad I don't have to drive him home today, but I wish he was coming home today(I am truly patheticWinkBlush). DS2 has gone off to my Dsis's for the day. so it has been really quiet. I have had a major tidy up of our bedroom and can now walk around the bed, rather than having to vault over DH and however many boys in the night when I need a wee!

Lulumaam · 24/10/2010 09:42

hope DH makes a quick recovery, ria...

fingers crossed everything goes smoothly...

last night was a potentially BAD day food wise.. had a bar mitzvah in the morning with a lunch afterwards.. took some open sandwiches, just ate the toppings, not the bread. so had smoked salmon, salad and poached salmon, no mayo or anything, salad and fruit..avoided all the fried fish etc.. no cake either

had a grilled chicken breast when i got home.

for dinner, made a big roast as DHs birthday.. had some gravy with my beef, made with some bisto ,mustard powder etc.. but relatively low syn. beef itself v lean. made potatoes in frylight and made caramalised sweet potatoes for DH, i had one small spoonful and i had my own sweet potatoes, mashed with quark. and loads of broccoli. no wine and a small sliver of cake for pud.

so all in all, think i did well, avoiding too much high syn stuff, especially after 18 syns on friday !! weigh in tomorrow night..

still not been feeling 100 %, i had a sleep yesterday afternoon, still shaking off this awful cold, but finally got my voice back properly.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 24/10/2010 10:37

Hope DH is OK Ria. Well done on the tidying!

Lulumaam, you really do deserve a good loss on Monday. You and Dita have both been incredibly virtuous out and about.

I am delicate this morning . The dog wanted to go for a wee this morning at 3am which is about the same time my gallbladder kicked off after I stupidly ordered Chicken Rogan and boiled rice which I had with chopped tomato for my superfree. It wasn't even very nice so am not doing that again. Only plus side is I'm not hungry yet this morning. Mum is coming for lunch so I need to cook Roast beef in a minute. Last night was obviously more syns, I don't believe the 7 or whatever the curry is supposed to be. The two days before that were 9 and 5syns so I have been OK.

Lulumaam · 24/10/2010 15:52

what symptoms do you get with your gall bladder?

I have Crohns disease but it's really well under control and i have found my digestive system seems quite happy whilst i've been on slimming world.

also saw my parents today which was lovely and i got the £ for my Ugg boots from my dad. so really looking forward to getting them , hopefully tomorrow Grin

Also treated myself to the new Jilly Cooper book,. £5 off in waterstones.. it's my notso guilty reading pleasure

Grizzlylou · 24/10/2010 18:37

Hope everyone is OK.

Which Uggs are you getting Lulu?

I have had a bit of a lightbulb diet moment.

I made roast chicken for dinner, didn't eat any skin, no stuffing either. Had 3/4 plate filled with veggies.
Then I watched my DH and DS's eat the Eve's pudding I'd made (apparently the best I'd ever made) and I didn't have any. That is actually a first for me. I just didn't want to undo my good work.

It is a wonder what the threat of being weighed will do. I doubt I'll lose anything anyway as I am retaining water, they call it the star week here.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 24/10/2010 18:38

It's a sharp stabbing pain under my right ribs that radiates round to my back. Bit like contractions but with no gap in them. Blasted thing is going to come out when I'm thinner. SW does help it a lot but it does kick in if I make silly choices, if I get stressed or just sometimes for no reason. Sympathies about the Crohns. My brother was thought to have Crohns at one point but the diagnosis ended up as UC. Any decision about which Uggs you are going to get.

Good day foodwise today. Melon and yoghurt for breakfast , lunch was roast beef with frylight roast spuds, beans, carrots, sweetcorn and gravy (1.5 syns) follwed by couscous cake (4.5 syns) I still have a HEB so will have a hifi bar and need some Laughing cow light for HEA, probaby a mushroom omlette for tea.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 24/10/2010 18:44

Well done Grizzly. Fingers crossed for tomorrow, it is really fustrating when water retention gets in the way of a loss, happened to me last weigh in. The one consolation is that hopefully you end up with a good loss the week after.

Grizzlylou · 24/10/2010 18:51

Wynken, It's not weigh day until Wednesday for me, but I tend to stay the same/gain for a week around that time.

Ah well, have exercised and stuck to plan, as you say, so next week will be the biggy (I hope!). It is a marathon not a sprint n all that.

Your gall bladder condition sounds very painful, do you have to medicate. I suffer from digestion problems, but do find SW cures them. Which is when I wonder why I ever dropped off the plan?

Lulu, do you suffer a lot with the Crohns?

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 24/10/2010 18:59

I'll keep my fingers crossed for a STS Grizzly, less annoying than a gain. I have prescription codeine and buscopan for when I get an attack and go to bed lying on my left side with a heated wheat pack on my rightside, I am very organised with it now ! My codeine is lasting much longer as am having fewer attacks overall since starting SW which is great.

Lulumaam · 24/10/2010 19:09

will the gall bladder settle down whilst you are doing SW , eating lower fat?

sounds nasty Sad

UC and crohns are both inflammatory bowel disease and present quite similarly. it's not pleasant , i am v v luck mine is under control

grizzylou, i think for me too it is the 'threat[ of weigh in, but more in terms of being spurred on as i've lost a lot quickly and i find that motivating. also, i've made friens with another girl from the group and we're cheering each other on which is good

think i'm going for the metallic cardy uggs. going tomorrow to the boutique, but i bet they won't have them !!

good day for me too...

scrambled eggs & salmon on nimble bread this morning

grilled chicken breast with potatoes in frylight and cucumber salad

boiled rice with sticky beef and broccoli for dinner

1 piece of chocolate and a tablespoon of honey in my stirfry marinade

Lulumaam · 24/10/2010 19:12

managed to xpost there !!

findingtheRialme · 24/10/2010 22:41

thank you for your wishes for DH, he is home safe and well, minus a 2 inch screw (froma previous op) and some bone. And I survived driving back to the sticks fromthe big city. Despite many many wankers on the roads. Haven't cooked the lovely roast I'd planned though, as DH had ordered steak for his hospital dinner last night and didn't get it, so steak on the menu here today (and Fru key lime dessert). will have family roast tomorrow instead.

The gall bladder etc all sound nastySad. A couple of friends of mine from the PN thread have had theirs removed after hideous nastiness. I do sometimes wonder if I have IBS.

How many syns are orange matchmakers? they are 99p a box (or something, half price maybe) in Tesco, and I love them. A little of what you fancy...Wink

good luck to everyone who is doing WI tomorrow, and good luck to everyone with DC on healf termSmile I will need it!

ditavonteesed · 25/10/2010 07:48

glad your dh is home safe rial, I had a bit of a trauma yesterday, kids being mega hyper so I sent them outside an d dd2 split her head open. anyway neighbour is a nurse so saved us a trip to a&e which was a relief. not a good sign for half term, also didn't manage to strip yesterday which I am, feeling suprisingly guilty about and I promised dd1 we would go swimming in holidays but obviously we can't now, oops.
wynken that sounds awful, and lulu, impressed that a good diet helps, that should be quite motivating (although it doesn't always work that way does it?).
taking dc to mueseum today and taking a picnic, just about to cook myself some pasta so I can take cold pasta with chilli philli.

Melty · 25/10/2010 07:51

Morning to everybody.
Hope your mum is improving Elizabeth, and Ria time to chill now your DH is home.
Wynken, I feel for you with your gall bladder problems. Are they definitely going to take it out?
My mum had hers done years ago, and to this day has problems with fatty food. She gets dreadful heartburn if she eats anything fatty. On the other hand i know quite a few people that have a nice happy gall bladder free life!

I just weighed myself, and am down another 2 lbs. Weirdly, I feel a bit deflated.
I think its because I am hovering above the 16 stone mark. (Its a big boost to go past a number if you see what I mean) I'm 16.1 and I know thats a fantastic loss, but I need a bit more!
I am doing ok food wise, and my clothes are definitely getting looser.
I am turning into humpty dumpty though.
My boobs have shrunk. (Anyone need a couple of 40E Nude Freya bras? PM me and I will stick in the post)
My bum and hips have shrunk, but my belly is taking a little longer. It's definitely gone down, but I still can't comfortably close the size 16 trousers around my waist/belly. They tie, but are just a smidgen too snug.
I'll just keep calm and carry on!

Melty · 25/10/2010 07:57

Ooh, Dita.
Cuts to the head normally take about 3-5 days to heal. (Marvellous blood supply to scalp and face, although can also bleed like a stuck pig).
So take them swimming at the weekend. Sounds like you have a nice day planned anyway.

What exactly were you stripping, or meant to be? My mind is working overtime1 Confused

Lulumaam · 25/10/2010 08:05

glad to hear that ria

and dita, hope DD is ok !

I have weigh in tonight !
hoping for a 2lb loss , can't repeat last week's epic 5lb-er !

have been good this week, had 2 syns yesterday which will have helped counteract friday...

we shall see later !

Lulumaam · 25/10/2010 08:06

ditto re the boobs , melty.. a sginificant difference here already Sad
