So today is D day! Diet starts today, I have my first slimming world class tonight and i am feeling quite motivated. I think I probably have around 3 stones to lose, but i would be happy to even lose 2. I just feel fat and unhealthy and have never been this big before!

So today is day 1 of sorting myself out! Just wondered if anyone else was starting today too, not just slimming world, but any thing, and wanted to have somewhere to chat, swap ideas, or get some moral support?

I have just had the most scrumptious lunch.
I am doing a red day today.
The recipe is an extra easy one, so I just had a huge place of free veggies instead of noodles.
Its from slimmingeats.com
Chilli Beef Noodles
So so moorish. Not that spicy either, just nice, so easy for kids to eat. I didnt have the chili paste the recipe called for so I googled a bit, and used a half teaspoon of chili powder and a clove of garlic mushed up.

Am completely full now!

desiretochange · 21/10/2010 14:42

Thanks for link to website Melty, didn't even know it existed, looks to be great recipes and the photos definitely make them look appetising. Going to trawl through it later:):)

Lulumaam · 21/10/2010 16:12

thank you for doing the list ! we've done ever so well !!

i had jacket potato for lunch with left over chicken from last night, that i'd marinated in honey and sesame oil (4 syns , but shared between 3 of us , but i counted it as 4 syns for me ) chopped up an mixed with light salad cream (1.5 syn) and celery
very filling

we're having prawns in oyster sauce tonight , with boiled rice and pak choi, should be about 4 syns maximum for me.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 21/10/2010 16:49

Some lovely sounding food on here, making my mouth water. Maybe we could repeat the list just before Christmas and see how we (and anyone else who joins us) have done then.

I don't have a loss to add this week as I stayed the same but it's my weird week where I sts or gain, so am happy with that and will hopefully lose 2.5 or 3lbs next week. I genuinely felt alright with it when I saw on the scales this morning and felt I was making progress in my attitude, less of the sulky toddler that has a tendency to emerge.

One of the girls at group got her 5 stone award today, she's been going for about 18/19 weeks and our one and only male at group has lost nearly 3 stone in 12 weeks, amazing losses and you can really see the difference in them.

I am going to be at target 18th December 2011, I hope someone will be left on here still to talk to me !

Lulumaam · 21/10/2010 16:55

i've not even set my target yet, i'm keeping going until i feel comfy in myself.

i imagine i'll be around for a while yet !

whatkungfuthat · 21/10/2010 17:03

There are a couple of men in my group that have lost loads really quickly Envy Right now I could kill for a proper indian meal - naan, bjahi's the lot, a SW curry just won't do it but I will be strong!

whatkungfuthat · 21/10/2010 17:04

bhaji's even

Melty · 21/10/2010 17:21

Kungfu, try the lamb curry from the slimming world website.
It is really great, tastes like a proper curry!
Lamb

upsydaisysexstylist · 21/10/2010 17:28

I'll be here till next August, according to my calculations and am planning on attending and posting regularly untill xmas as want to get the mainteince thing really sorted so never need to do this again

whatkungfuthat · 21/10/2010 17:49

Thanks Melty Grin

According to that projected progress chart SW reckon I'll hit where I want to be at the end of May. V. optimistic I think!

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 21/10/2010 18:02

Oh good, I'm pleased I won't be on my own thank you ! I forgot to say thanks for the help with the boots. I'm still pondering what to do. I nearly bought from thebootmakers site but luckily read about them on the net whilst looking for a discount code. Am tempted to go for a Duo pair with fabric lining but I have no idea if my calves are likely to shrink much. They don't seem to have shrunk at all with the first stone and a half but who knows what will happen, can't remember what my legs were like when thin as it was too long ago.

ditavonteesed · 21/10/2010 18:08

is nobody going to give me sympathy, supposed to take puppy to training class but struggling with the old walking malarky.
think wew should all stay even when we get to target, like at a group stop us putting it all back on.

whatkungfuthat · 21/10/2010 18:11

Wynken, I really wish I'd measured myself before I started this diet as I don't think you can tell on yourself IYSWIM. Have you tried vivaladiva.com? They do various leg widths, not sure of the quality but they are quite a bit cheaper than Duo etc.

Melty · 21/10/2010 18:31

Sympathy???
Whats that?
Poor dita.
Try a redox muscle soak.
Or my mother used to swear by epsom salts in the bath. (she was right about wearing a vest, I froze today!)

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 21/10/2010 18:32

Dita I think you are incredibly brave to do the Shred so lots of sympathy! I'm hoping you're not going to say in 28 days time that it is fantastic and we should all try it. Can you get one of the DC's to chuck a ball for the dog and direct a training session from the sofa? I read that 5 mins of training is equivalent to a fair bit of exercise.

Kungfu I tried them but the boots they claimed were wide fit and stretchy didn't stretch. I measured my calves in my pursuit of wellies a year ago when we got the dog so I know my before measurement and they just haven't shrunk at all so far.

I do have the answer for wellies though, Muck boots. Very comfy, warm and really do stretch as they claim.

whatkungfuthat · 21/10/2010 18:34

Muck boots? Confused

whatkungfuthat · 21/10/2010 18:47

Ignore my ignorance, I just googled them Blush Not sure they would fit my gargatuan calves though! I got those grey leather boys (biker) ankle boys from Next, they fit me if thats the sort of thing you are after?

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 21/10/2010 18:52

I can't link at the moment but I think they were designed originally for use in stables for mucking out etc. They are rubber at the bottom then neoprine on the leg and they have varios different types. Some have grippier soles than others. Expensive but well worth the money if you wear wellies a lot and struggle to get normal ones to fit.

Grizzlylou · 21/10/2010 18:54

I have those boots, Whatkungfuthat, amazed they go up to size 8!

Dita, stick with the shred, it gets so much easier after a few more gos, honest! I did Level 1 today after ages, and I really felt it. Before my holiday in July I'd been doing Level 3 every day plus running and gym. Then I got foot off gas and put it all back on Hmm

Typical yo yo dieter me.

SW Quiche tonight (one of my faves) and SW Frylight chips.

There is a woman at our group who re-joined with her 2 week old baby. She'd been following SW before and during her pregnancy. If cooing over a newborn doesn't make you want to go to Group, nowt will, he is gorgeous.

whatkungfuthat · 21/10/2010 19:04

Grizzly, I made the mistake of not sizing down with my boots so they are big on me but I still wear them, even though I feel a bit like the frankenstein monster clomping about! I may get a size smaller (6) and give mine to DS1, they will fit him soon.

whatkungfuthat · 21/10/2010 19:06

Oh sorry, Dita hope you feel better soon! I've ordered my copy so I'll be in agony with you.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 21/10/2010 19:23

Sorry, am very slow posting, DD on the computer and the thread takes ages to scroll down on my phone. Muck boots say they expand to virtually calf width. My calves are 47 cm and they would stretch wider still.

I have black ankle boots but would love some knee high brown boots. This all started as a friend gave me some lovely Monsoon skirts she doesn't fit in any more and I wore one the other day. I never usually wear skirts and it is flipping drafty! So I thought some long boots would be good, what a silly idea!

Grizzlylou · 21/10/2010 19:50

Whatkungfuthat, mine are a size 8, my size and they flap around like noones business, but I just stick a pair of thick socks on. I am aware I may look like a clown!

findingtheRialme · 21/10/2010 21:25

think I will still be here in Dec 2011!

have a flipping cold now, and TOTM, so feel like a HUGE lumpSad, scared of scales tomorrow as have really hit the junk food this weekBlush. wonder if I should try some viatmins or something as a bit of a health boost? any recommendations?

wow Dita, you are dedicated. Just the word "shred" is ehough to make me clench my buttocks in pain!I am achey from decorating, but I suppose its not quite the same. Have another day of sorting out tomorrow, am bored of it now, but it does look good, and tidy too. They will keep it clean and tidy.

DontCallMeBaby · 21/10/2010 22:12

Blimey, that shred DVD has 1,533 five-star reviews on US Amazon. And the first UK Amazon review that comes up is titled 'Beware - this will KILL you!' :o

I'm kind of tempted, I'm a little bored with Wii Fit too, and I don't want to get completely bored with it as I'll just stop and not do anything else.

I do also have a little pipe dream that I might, in the spring, go running. I have always declared that I am NOT built for running, but I think if I lose enough weight and get a bit fitter with indoor exercise, and wear three sports bras, I might just manage it.

Argh - just nearly sat on one of my cats. Would have to lose a LOT more weight before that wasn't a very bad idea indeed!
