ElizabethWakefield · 30/08/2010 10:15

So today is D day! Diet starts today, I have my first slimming world class tonight and i am feeling quite motivated. I think I probably have around 3 stones to lose, but i would be happy to even lose 2. I just feel fat and unhealthy and have never been this big before!

So today is day 1 of sorting myself out! Just wondered if anyone else was starting today too, not just slimming world, but any thing, and wanted to have somewhere to chat, swap ideas, or get some moral support?

was sure I had posted this morning, how odd. anyway dvd arrived this morning, so going to have A GO when dd in nursery at 1pm, am actually a bit scared.

whatkungfuthat · 20/10/2010 12:13

Hi Dita, had a look at the shred dvd on Amazon Shock Looks great but hard work!

I am thinking of trying it as I seem to spend hours on the wii fit so I could do with someone more intense and much shorter. Good luck and please report back with a review Smile

ditavonteesed · 20/10/2010 12:31

I will if I ma able to lift my fingers to type, I was starting to get really bored of the wii fit as the intensity is so low that you need to do it for so long. is only 20 mins so will see, bet I can't do half the excercises.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 20/10/2010 13:01

Wahey Daisey, 10% is hugely impressive, well done !

Dontcallme, well done. Would you mind doing that cheesecake on behalf of all of us who aren't brave enough to get the Bailey's in until we know the cheesecake is worth the risk ?! I can't bring myself to try Quark and options as I think I'm going to hate it.

Desire, another great loss, this thread is doing really well. I don't do red I'm afraid so can't help. My EE days go something along the lines of 2 weetabix plus melon or apple for breakfast, jacket spud plus cottage cheese and salad or an omlette for lunch. Tea is something like carbonara, roast chicken, last night was homemade burger with SW chips and salad. Then my syns in the evening.

Dita I'm very impressed you've bought the Shred DVD, we will understand if your fingers need a day or so to recover !

I've got WI tomorrow so am thinking light thoughts today. Have just received a pair of knee high boots that are supposed to be stretchy for my rugby player calves but aren't. So am pondering my next move on the boot front. I'm allergic to leather and some suede which doesn't help when you add that to my massive calves. We had good news, DH has a permanent job starting in the next month or so. He was made redundant shortly before I started SW in July, has been freelance since then for a bit but not been bringing in much. Hypotherapy seems to be helping, appetite reducing and feeling fuller longer.

Shall we add up our losses :

Wynken 21 lbs
Tawdry 2 lbs
Upsydaisy 24 lbs
Candyfluff 8 lbs
Lulumaam 16 lbs
Melty 14 lbs
Whatkunfu 37 lbs

Total 122lbs which is 8st 10lbs.

I couldn't find all the total losses so have missed some people off, maybe you could add yourselves and correct any I've got wrong ? Hope no one minds me doing this, I think it is quite amazing that we've lost the weight of a person between us.

findingtheRialme · 20/10/2010 13:35

yay for your DH wynkenSmile mine has been for an interview this morning, hoping that after his op on Saturday he will be fit to work full time in a proper jobHmm, hope so, (and hope he gets it of course) as it's about 3x the money we are on now! (though it would have been better if he hadn't chosen today for a 3 hour interview, I want to get the boys room finished so I can go shopping, for food - and christmas craft items which are going to stop me grazing in the evening, honestWink)

those losses are fabSmile. will add mine on Friday weigh in. Can I put down my total loss this year, or just since I joined the thread?

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 20/10/2010 14:00

Your total loss Rial, every pound is worked for and most definitely counts in my book!

Fingers firmly crossed for your DH and I think you deserve a huge pat on the back for still being here despite everything going on. It's not the easiest of times for a lot of people right now and I think the general mood amongst people generally is of worry. This combined with the weather getting cold and shorter days is a good recipe for shutting the door and comfort eating but we aren't. We're all doing this and OK some days/weeks might not go quite to plan but we all get back onto it and between us we've lost a huge amount, I'm having a proud moment!

whatkungfuthat · 20/10/2010 14:07

Great news about your DH Wynken, and fingers crossed here for yours Rial. I was freelance before having DS2 and finding it hard to get any work now too.

This could all go horribly wrong but I am attempting to make a baked lemon cheesecake of sorts using half the ingredients for the roulade 'base' as the bottom (precooked) and quark, splenda, eggs and lemon juice. Its in the oven now so will report back later Hmm I usually make an Annabel Karmel baked cheesecake for christmas which would be 100's of syns, so have adapted that recipe.

Lulumaam · 20/10/2010 14:09

typical EE day for me is

2 x nimble bread with laughing cow light , black coffee , some fruit

or scan bran with quark and smoked salmon

lunch is eggs/turkey rashers/soup

or jacket spud with chicken/apple/salad cream, or cottage cheese, or beans

dinner is stir fry , lean beef and veg with boiled rice, or spag bol, or chilli, with extra tomatoes and beans in it. or roast chicken with sw chips and veg

syns i save for wine or chocolate or the like of an evening

i fill up on fat free yoghurt, black coffee/water/diet coke/ HEX a cheese, and fruit

desiretochange · 20/10/2010 14:39

And thanks for your typical EE day and also thanks to Lulu, work full time and sometimes the thought of what to eat drives me demented, so more often than not end up stopping at takeaway on way home:(:(

hoping to increase my contribution over the next month with the shred anbd got a night out in 5 weeks which in a perfect world I would be a stone lighter than now for.

Sorry about my annoying half pound. :o

Wynken, quite a few Rocket Dog boots are non-leather/suede, although I don't know what the calf fittings are like for knee length ones. I am after these which I hope will overcome the chunky calf problem by being a bit shorter. Or you can search Duo online for fabric-lined boots, if that might help? Mine are fabric-lined, but have a couple of inches of leather at the top ... Duo aren't exactly cheap either.

Desire, I work part-time, but it's 8.30 to 2.30 every day, so I really need to have lunch so as not to snack myself silly at home, but don't get an actual break, so can't get a baked potato from the canteen or anything like that. I've had soup in a flask a couple of times, but normally do some sort of pick and mix of Ryvita, cheese, ham, tomatoes, raw carrot, fruit, cereal bar, yogurt.

ditavonteesed · 20/10/2010 15:47

sorry didn't change the total lbs, should read 133lbs.

2 lb loss. I slunk back (in a non-slinky way) to my usual group as DS2 is poorly so probably can't make the daytime group but def. going to change next week. Dita you have inspired me to try the shred dvd, although I will do it when OH is about at first in case I have a heart attack!

whatkungfuthat · 20/10/2010 19:13

Wynken, don't be seduced by the fitted boots from the Bootmakers. This is the Fitted Boot Store under a new name. They were on Watchdog last year and went out of business. Not diet related, sorry!

Grizzlylou · 20/10/2010 19:54

I can even things up! I lost 5.5lbs (1st week and last week I had a very thick woolly cardigan on for weigh in Blush), am happy.

Hope you don't mind me adding mine in, but you've been really helpful this past week, I was quite bemused by EE.

Dita, the Shred can make an amazing difference to your shape, it is tough going but does get easier.

Melty · 20/10/2010 21:14

Oh my God, we have lost a whole person, who is about 5ft 8 or so in weight.
Has anyone seen herGrin

All those people who have been feeling a bit down because they are not losing quickly enough, see how it all adds up....

Grizzly, thats pretty good going! Welcome to the club.
Kung Fu, Yay,another 2 lbs off.

That list is pretty impressive.

Melty · 20/10/2010 21:16

Whoops,That lost person is actually 5ft 10 in height, (or perhaps she is lying down?)

DontCallMeBaby · 20/10/2010 22:30

10st 10lb is kind of my goal weight - it's what I was when I got pregnant with DD (having dieted) and a month after she was born (PND as weightloss method, can't really recommend it). I'm not 5' 10" though!

ditavonteesed · 21/10/2010 07:11

ok someone has taken over my brain (naybe the tall girl) I woke up at 6.15, nobody else in house awake, so do you think I did
a, turn over and go back to sleep,
b, get up and do the shred dvd.
knew I wasn't going to get time later so I think my brain decided now would be a good time.
still on my own in the house, can just hear dd's getting up now.

Melty · 21/10/2010 07:31

Thats pretty imressive Dita.
Can you still move? Wink

As for someone taking over the brain, I think I was typing nonsense last night. That tall girl is still 5ft 8. I dont know quite how she grew 2 inches in the time it took me to realise I had typed weight instead of height.
My goal weight is 11 stone, and I am 5ft 9.
If I keep this up I expect to get there around Christmas time next year. (allowing for slowdowns and maintenance and the odd gain)
I dont think I can every remember being 10st 10, although at some stage in my life I must have been!

On saying that, my sil's sister is 5ft 10, size 10, has an 8 month baby and size 5 feet. And damm her, she is very nice too. Bitch Grin

Grizzlylou · 21/10/2010 07:41

Wow Dita, that is dedication for you, very impressive.

Melty, I am 5ft 9" as well, your SILs sister sounds exactly like my best friend, except her baby is older.

Sooo going to have to struggle to fit in exercise this week, bit hectic, will have to do a Dita I think .

Got a recipe for Syn free Lemon Curd yesterday at group, has anyone tried it?

whatkungfuthat · 21/10/2010 08:15

Melty, I am sure my loss this week was due to swapping to red for a couple of days, OH lost 3 lbs too. Back to EE today (spag bol) but we'll do another red tomorrow.

10st 10 is the very top of the healthy BMI for my height (5' 5") so I would love to be able to get to that, but I have a very long way to go Hmm

desiretochange · 21/10/2010 12:08

Have decided to aim for 10% weight loss, last week I weighed 12st 10lb, lost 2lb this week, so when I worked it out 10% weight loss for me (from last week) would leave me weighing in at 11st 4lb, still overweight but hopefully not as wobbly:):)

ditavonteesed · 21/10/2010 13:05

I think I want to be about `10 7, that is what I got down to beore and was a 10/12 and felt good about myself.
I am in agony. all my muscles hurt. that has got to be good. [hgrin]
