So today is D day! Diet starts today, I have my first slimming world class tonight and i am feeling quite motivated. I think I probably have around 3 stones to lose, but i would be happy to even lose 2. I just feel fat and unhealthy and have never been this big before!

So today is day 1 of sorting myself out! Just wondered if anyone else was starting today too, not just slimming world, but any thing, and wanted to have somewhere to chat, swap ideas, or get some moral support?

I'd be interested in the roulade lizzylou. Good luck for tomorrow Smile

Lizzylou · 19/10/2010 14:23

OK, SW Roulade (my DH said it tasted like Arctic roll!):

4 eggs
few drops vanilla essence/extract
4 tbsp sweetener
Strawberries or Raspberries (I had blueberries as well)
1 tsp baking powder
1 tub Quark

Seperate egg whites & whisk until stiff.
In another bowl mix egg yolks, 1/2 tub Quark, 2tbsp of sweetener, tsp baking powder and few drops essence.
Fold in yolk mixture to whisked egg whites.
Place mixture onto a lined frylite baking sheet and bake for 10/15mins Gas 5 (I set it at 170c, mines a fan oven)
Mix rest of quark, 2 tbsp of sweetener, few drops essence and the fruit in a bowl.
When cake is cooked and cooled spread quark mix over and roll into a roulade.
Chill in fridge for 1 hour.

A lady at group had made it with a tsp of cocoa powder in the filling (think that means it is another syn for whole thing).
It was nice, the cake is sort of pancakey, yet it is still substantial because of the quark.

whatkungfuthat · 19/10/2010 14:37

Thanks Lizzylou, sounds lovely. I'll try it Friday for the weekend Grin

kkfairybrains · 19/10/2010 14:51

tawdryhepburnedatthestake · 19/10/2010 16:03

Hello everyone.

Had first weigh in today, and I've lost 2lbs! Long way to go, but it's a start Smile

Just a couple of questions - has anyone had trouble registering with the online support thing? When I enter my details it tells me that I've already registered, but then doesn't recognise my email address Confused

Also, does anyone know how many sins Sainsbury's Be Good To Yourself 3% fat sausages are?

Well done to all losers, and by the way, some fab recipes on here, that pasta sounds lovely.

tawdryhepburnedatthestake · 19/10/2010 16:04

Oops, I meant syns

Also, did I read on here that Mikado biscuit thingies are 1/2 syn each?

desiretochange · 19/10/2010 16:24

Have my weigh-in this evening so fingers crossed some unwanted lard has left this wobbly body Hmm
Was very good for 3 days, bad for 2 days and trying to get back on track for other 2 days so will be absolutely amazed if there is anything off.
Need to read through this thread properly and pick up on all the tips because at this stage help is most definitely required [hgrin]

candyfluff · 19/10/2010 17:01

hi ladies not been on lately but wanted to check in with you all as i feel like giving up its so hard and im hungry most of the time
last week i lost 3 pounds so 9 in 5 weeks (crap) and then today despite following the plan and doing aqua areobics i put on a pound so only 8 pounds in 6 weeks -where am i going wrong
have tried baking lots of low fat desserts and to be honest they were all horrible

DontCallMeBaby · 19/10/2010 17:04

Tawdry, the chilled Cumberland BGTY sausages are 1/2 syn, the frozen ones 1 1/2 - don't know why so different!

Weigh-in tonight - see what damage all the eating out and being ill has done.

Lulumaam · 19/10/2010 17:31

i had a rubbish week where i gained 1/2 a pound, looking back over my food diary, i had alcohol and loads and loads and loads of potatoes, i know they are free.. but maybe they just don't work in bulk for me..

i stuck to rice , meat, veg, no alcohol, EE plan but fewer syns and more protein and lost 5 lbs. so i think you sometimes have to tweak and don't forget all your superfree foods

Lulumaam · 19/10/2010 17:33

candy, you shouod absolutely not be hungry, not when you can eat jacket potatoes, pasta, beans, meat etc

what you eating in a typical day and are you keeping a food diary?

good luck for weigh ins everoyne xxx

Melty · 19/10/2010 17:37

KKfairy, well done!.
Tawdry, we have to start somewhere! " lbs a week is a good thing.

Candy, you must not be eating enough if you are hungry all the time.
I am never hungry except when its time to eat again! And if I do get peckish first of all I have a drink of water, beacause sometimes we think we are hungry but we are actually thirsty and then I have an apple or another piece of fruit.
Dont give in.
Just have a good look at what you are eating.
Write everything down before it goes into your mouth, because as soon as it goes in, we forget about it.
Are you eating enough superfree veg? Its got to be a third of the plate.
Are you counting your syns and your Healthy Extras properly?

The low syn dessert recipes are a bit pants to be honest. I have made that Roulade, and my friend thought she had gone to heaven as she had denied herself sweet stuff, but I wasn't that desperate for sweet stuff so could take it or leave it. It does taste a bit pancakey and not too bad though. I'm more of a savoury person.

If you need a sweet kick, use quark with splenda over fruit. It feels really naughty.
Or a merringue with fruit and a muller light, but actually I'd still go for the splenda with quark or fat free fromage frais!

It does work, but you have to be really honest with yourself. When you want to go for the chocolate fingers ask yourself do you really need it?
If you do, then go ahead, but dont pig out completely and get straight back on track afterwards.

It will be ok.[hug]

DontCallMeBaby · 19/10/2010 19:54

I've lost 2lb ... not actually brilliant over a fortnight, but actually rather amazing given that I've recently been mugged by a baked Alaska (and several glasses of wine, a pannacotta, and a selection of tapas).

Melty, you are obviously cut out for this stuff - there is not one iota of my person that would regard fruit with quark and Splenda as really naughty. I would feel immensely virtuous eating that, and would probably reward myself with Mikados.

I'm hoping to make my swimming lesson tomorrow, although I still don't feel 100%, and then I'll get back onto the Wii Fit.

I've just realised I forgot to syn all the honey in my hot honey and lemons ... at least the lemon is superfree. :o

Melty · 19/10/2010 20:11

Heh! I dont really think its naughty. Its just so creamy it feels naughty.

Melty · 19/10/2010 20:12

Forgot to say, well done on the loss. Smile

Lizzylou · 19/10/2010 20:26

Well done on the loss Don'tcallme, hope you are feeling better.

I know what you mean, Melty, I remember loving 1/2 tub of Quark with an Options sachet of hot choc in, almost like a choc cheesecake if you try hard enough Wink

I am terrible for sweet stuff and cheese, so anyway to get those two things into my life is a winner for me.

Lulumaam · 19/10/2010 20:46

that's great , dontcallme!!

i\ve just had a flake ( 8 syns!! ) as desperate for sweet/chocolatey stuff. i'd rather have that than an entire tub of quark and splenda Grin

altough quark is not so bad, once you're used to it

DontCallMeBaby · 19/10/2010 21:28

I have quark in the fridge - it may be destined to be. Baileys and caramel cheesecake, from the SW website ... though buying Baileys may be dangerous.

upsydaisysexstylist · 19/10/2010 21:36

Well done Lulu. Now can I borrow your drumroll, I have my club10 shiney pink sticker! Lost another 3lb this week, so 24lb since the end of August! Had lovely tea courtesy of my OH last night. Melty · 20/10/2010 06:51

desiretochange · 20/10/2010 07:07

Morning, weighed in last night and lost 2lb:) Going to try red week this week so if any one has any suggestions as to what an average red day consists of for them then all suggestions greatly received . .

Lulumaam · 20/10/2010 07:31

can't believe someone mentioned Baileys >

and well done desiretochange, a great loss!

i wonder how much we've lost on this thread all together. i bet it's a really fantastic amount!

well done everyone

i don't do red days, i am sticking to EE at the moment as it is working great x

desiretochange · 20/10/2010 07:47

Thanks Lulumaam, my problem is that I don't attend slimming world but have a copy of the Food Optimising book courtesy of a friend but it's really like information overload and I am finding it tough going trying to work it all out.
What is your typical EE day Lulumaam?

whatkungfuthat · 20/10/2010 08:44

Well done on the losses everyone Grin

I normally weigh in on a wednesday night but I'm going to try a new group tomorrow and see if its more established/informative. Off on a hunt for quark this morning, I've never noticed it in my local sainsburys Hmm
