So today is D day! Diet starts today, I have my first slimming world class tonight and i am feeling quite motivated. I think I probably have around 3 stones to lose, but i would be happy to even lose 2. I just feel fat and unhealthy and have never been this big before!

So today is day 1 of sorting myself out! Just wondered if anyone else was starting today too, not just slimming world, but any thing, and wanted to have somewhere to chat, swap ideas, or get some moral support?

Hi everyone, just popping in quickly to see how everyone is doing? I see everyone is doing well!! Excellent Grin

I've had a busy few days, my mum finally got her operation, but took an allergic reaction to the anesthetic and was quite ill. She was allowed home on Friday later evening, but I had to stay with her (a nice night on a cold floor Grin)

On the plus side i have been running about mad for days and have been really good on the diet so can't really complain!

It is half term here next week, so we are off on holiday tomorrow until Friday, just down to Butlins at Skegness (we got it free with tesco clubcard points) never been before and not really sure what to expect, have read/heard mixed reviews, but as it was free we will make the most of it anyway!! Smile

Will try my hardest to stick to the plan as best i can, but as it will be eating out all week, I think it will be quite difficult!

Melty · 10/10/2010 16:40

Canndy, you know what, its just a blip. Circumstances change and we have to just get through it, and if that meant you didnt eat as well as you would normally, then so be it. You are back in the right frame of mind now as regards eating, so it wil be fine in the end.
Hope you are feeling stronger. x

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 10/10/2010 17:59

Candy one thing I am learning that is different to my previous goes is to draw a line under binges/bad days and not let them get in the way of shifting this blasted weight. I've wasted so many years letting gains completely derail me. A pound or two goes on, plan goes out the window and a few weeks later another stone has gone on.

A pound and a half is well within the limits of the amont peoples weight fluctuates over the course of a day. This timd next week you could be 2lbs lighter which will make you half a pound lighter than before.

We're just back from the beach. DH did the last coat of varnish over our hall floor which he sanded to stop the mudbath that was our hall carpet. So we went out for lunch (I was very good, the food was rubbish), went to pick up Plog who had stayed at the dogsitter for a couple of nights. Blasted animal ate their cat flap, I couldn't believe it. Am amazed that she'sprepared to have her back another time. Was all set to go home after that but decided it would be a shame to waste the weather. Absolutely gorgeous it was and we all paddled(apart from DH who is so stiff he can hardly walk!). People were down there in bikinis, not at all like October.

candyfluff · 10/10/2010 18:31

can i ask if you don't mind what weight and height you all are and what sort of weight loss you would like to achieve?

candyfluff · 10/10/2010 18:32

ha! Blush

Rockchick16 · 10/10/2010 18:38

I am on week 3 of SW. I weigh 12stone 10 and I'd love to be between 10 and a half and 11 stone. I'm 5ft 7.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 10/10/2010 18:43

I am 5ft 6 and weigh 17 St 5lbs. I am going to be 11st 7lbs Christmas 2011.

Melty · 10/10/2010 18:50

I am 5ft 9 and weigh 16 5 (-11.5lbs)after 3 weeks of SW (doing it without the group but with friends support and here Smile )

Id like to be 11 stone eventually.

Wynken is right. the odd blip is to be expected, just dont let it derail you completely. Have a look at the SW website for some real life stories, you dont have to be a member to read them.

SW Success stories
It may give you a boost. Some of them have lost huge amounts of weight.
If they can, we can!!

DontCallMeBaby · 10/10/2010 22:25

I am 5'4" and currently 11st 11.5lb (last weigh-in, down from 12st 7lb). My initial goal is 10%, so 11st 3lb - which IIRC puts me quite close to 'normal' BMI (although I may have worked that out back when I thought I was an inch taller). I'd like to get to about 10st 10lb, which is what I was when I found out when I was pregnant with DD, and what I was a month after she was born (not for happy reasons, I might add, but it was a good weight for me). More importantly, I want to get my waist measurement safely under the 35" limit - it's currently right on it, having been 37" when I started with SW.

There is a young woman in our SW group who has lost 7st in total. She looks amazing on it - she is young enough for her skin to have bounced back!

Wynken, I am somewhat in awe of your dog for eating a catflap. I thought my cats were quite impressive for having broken out of theirs, but eating one is in another league entirely.

Chathappy · 10/10/2010 23:05

Hi, (waves) Smile haven't had a chance to read all the thread but can I join please?

Just went to my first SW class on Wednesday - have yet again put on 3 stone in weight through pregnancy (dc3 born 3 weeks ago) and desperate to feel back to normal again! (I always go from a size 10 to a size 16 with each pregnancy). I'm about 5ft/5,1ft and weigh 12stone,12lbs at first weigh in (was about 9stone,12lbs pre pregnancy). Would love to eventually get back to my wedding weight when we got married august last year-I was about 8stone,10lb then (a good weight for my very short height!). I worked hard to get to that... Only 4 stone to go! (gulp)

Seemed to be doing ok on the diet since Thursday (still getting my head round it!) but then today I went for a pub lunch with dh,dcs and friends and ordered steak, jacket potato (and peas, tomatoes) and they brought it up with chips instead of the potato! They said it would take 10mins to get the blooming potato but everyone was already munching through their meals and I didn't fancy eating on my own after! I was sooo starving though so I ended up eating half the chips too and now I have no idea how many Syns that would be Sad... I only used 1 and half Syns the rest of the day so hoping the rest would have covered it...? Damn you pub!!

Sending lots of weight loss vibes everyone's way Smile

findingtheRialme · 10/10/2010 23:31

just want to put lots of blah at the top of my post cos I don't want the incriminating info at the top of the threadWink

beento mums today for lunch of yummy jacket spud (why don't mine ever taste like that),roast pork and veggies. wasn't rying too hard though so had lots of gravy and yorkshire puds. I have lost my mojo with this stupid poorliness.

I am approx 17st4 now, have lost 1.5stone in the last year (on and off several times dammit) and am 5ft10. I would love to be 13st and would like to go from my current size tight 22/baggy 24 to an 18. So still huge by some standards, but I really do have big bonesWink

glad your mum is OK EW.

upsydaisysexstylist · 11/10/2010 06:30

It's about finding the right weight for you, Rialme , I'm the same height as my sister but aiming to be a stone and a half heavier. 5ft 4 and aiming for 101/2 stone, my bones are bigger than my sisters and I don't run up mountains as a liesure activity, However if I look nice in a size14 and can go swimming with my boys with confidence I shall be a very happy bunny.currentlty 15st6lb having lost 18lbs

Lulumaam · 11/10/2010 07:28

weigh in for me tonight..have had a few more syns than usual this week, but still within what is ok, overall... hoping i'll have lost 2lbs minimum so will have my stone off. but DH working tonight, so got to take DCs wtih me, so i can't stay for the meeting.

hve a good day everyone x

ditavonteesed · 11/10/2010 07:36

hi everyone, well I doubt very much that I won't have put everything back on this weekend, was good though. was quite good at the wedding, meal was fairly healthy (apart from the choclate pudd but you know) drank diet coke and vodka so not too bad, then sunday morning, in the travel lodge from hell, with a hangover arfter not much sleep I got a McDonalds breakfast argh (it was so what the doctor ordered.) stopped at the services on 5the way home and got an m&s pasta salad, but then dh made a lovely healthy roast for tea.

I am 5'6" and weigh currently 12st 10lb (on the wii, am 13 at group), in an ideal world I would like to be about 9 and a half stone but I think about 11 will do for a start. wat to be a 10 which is what I managed before.
going to actually get on the scales in amin and assess the damage.

Melty · 11/10/2010 12:33

Just finished a lovely lunch.
Cooked a Gordon Ramsay Recipe last night. V easy, and plenty left over for lunch today.

Pasta with pancetta, leek and mushrooms

300g Pasta. (Recipe calls for shells but any will do)
3-4 tbsp Olive oil (I just used a couple of sprays)
2 medium leeks finely sliced.
125g pancetta or lean bacon sliced.
250g chesnut mushrooms sliced.
2-3 tbsp creme fraiche (I used fat free fromage frais)
Salt and Pepper.
Bunch Flat Leaf Parsley chopped.
Parmesan shavings to serve.

1 Put pasta on and cook until al dente.
2 Meawhile fry off pancetta until golden.
3 Add mushrooms and leeks, and stir over a high heat for 6-8 minutes until leeks are tender.
4 Drain Pasta and immediately toss with pancetta leeks and mushrooms. Stir in Fromage Frais.
5 Season with salt and pepper to taste
6 Scatter over chopped parsley to serve.

Grate a little parmesan over the top.

Almost syn free on EE. (Parmesan should synned but I didnt use much so I estimated 1/2 syn for me)
Huge pile of veggies in the dish, and it took me about a half hour including chopping.
Had it for dinner last night and brought it into work for lunch.

findingtheRialme · 11/10/2010 17:31

yum that sounds nice, might give it a go. don't eat cheese so won't need to syn the parmesan!

any tips on how to get out of bed in the morning full of life and raring to go, instead of feeling like I've been over-cooked and trodden into the carpet?

candyfluff · 11/10/2010 17:46

fingers crossed for my weigh in tomorrow - have been to water areobics today so hopefully that would of helped.

Lulumaam · 11/10/2010 20:06

well, that was disappointing ! 1/2 a pound gain wondering if my bad weekend is catching up with me from last week

looking at my food diaries, possibly had too many syns and too much potato.. also, had lots of activia, but the fat free vanilla and strawberry, which i thought was syn free.

anyway, going to go for it with a vengeance this week...

am disappointed, but it's a tiny set back.

was really hoping for a 2lb loss so i could get my stone off...
never mind.. onwards and upwards

upsydaisysexstylist · 11/10/2010 21:01

Yoghurts, sneaky things get you every time, my other half has been buying activia as on offer and full fat ones good for the toddler ( fairly low sugar), 16 for £3 I think.
Half a pound could be a big wee really, also think some weights seem harder to get below especially if they are ones you stayed at for a while. Not looking forward to my weigh in tomorrow as children's illnesses have curtailed my exercise and tiredness erroded my willpower

ditavonteesed · 12/10/2010 07:43

not looking forward to tonights weigh in, although according to the wii scales I am probably about 1.2 lb down, can't see how that is possible, I figure if I can manage cereal and veg soup today before weigh in should be good. really need to up my excercise, wondering about joining gym as kjt would then be free to take dd2 swimming which I am doing this morning anyway, would paty for itself as long as I took her every week. hmmmmm.

Lulumaam · 12/10/2010 14:28

good luck dita !

today I have had 3 x scan bran with light laughing cow, which are h ex A &B

for lunch i've had beef stir fried in frylight, garlie , chilli, rainbow stir fry veg from asda, and broccoli. dash of soy sauce too.

2 pieces of fruit, black coffee & diet coke

going to have the stiry fry again for dinner, with boiled rice as the kids will really enjoy it

not sure what to do re syns.. whether to reduce right down or not.. had been having 10 - 15 a day, might reduce to 8 maximum for a week and see what happens at weigh in on monday

findingtheRialme · 12/10/2010 14:56

good luck with the WIs.

went to my dance class this morning, and dancersize (I hate that word!)n afterwards. I had a good laugh and it cheered me up, but I am still crap! I was thinking of going to zumba tomorrow, but am not sure, and my dance teacher doesn't rate it when it's taught by a non-dancerHmm

need to reassess the food situation now, before I hit the supermarket tomorrow I think. The pressure is off with my studies as I've finished until next year, DS3 has settled much better at pre-school so I have decided to leave nursery for now, so that's another pressure off. Doesn't explain why i stil feel crap and on the verge of mild panic most of the timeSad, suppose I'm still getting over the virus?

DontCallMeBaby · 12/10/2010 17:02

Lovely DD has given me her cold. I feel like I have barbed wire in my throat and could really fancy some ice cream ... fortunately have none in the house. Not going to weigh-in or the literature festival event I have a ticket for - going to put down roots on the sofa instead.
