So today is D day! Diet starts today, I have my first slimming world class tonight and i am feeling quite motivated. I think I probably have around 3 stones to lose, but i would be happy to even lose 2. I just feel fat and unhealthy and have never been this big before!

So today is day 1 of sorting myself out! Just wondered if anyone else was starting today too, not just slimming world, but any thing, and wanted to have somewhere to chat, swap ideas, or get some moral support?

I tend to go for packets of grapes or pineapple.
And I always have a banana in my bag.
Have a low fat M&S chicken on wholemeal, subtract the bread as a HE
Pret a manger and Eat do fresh soups which are normally not too bad.

kkfairybrains · 06/10/2010 10:52

I always like an omelette if at all possible for lunch ninja. Really keeps you full too
I have no choice to be up and about cause had to go back to work when she was 3 weeks! Shes a great sleeper though so thats half the battle! Not always easy to make the right food choices though when your so busy. As in i havent had the time for brekkie yet so i get that hungry that i go for the quickest option whixh isnt always thw best. It will be porridge and berries when i do evwntually get it though!
Anyone know if there is syns in plain flour?

Melty · 06/10/2010 11:47

Yes, 28g flour is 5 syns on all plans.

dizzytrout · 06/10/2010 12:03

Thanks EW, Lulu and Wynken :)

And Thank you Dita, that stern talk has shamed me in to getting back on the wagon!! Wink

I am armed with salad and vegetable sticks today, along with cottage cheese and all things healthy!

P.S. It wasn't too bad, only put on 1/2 lb - phew!

xx

ElizabethWakefield · 06/10/2010 15:03

Well done on all the loses! Everyone is going so well!

Welcome KK Smile

Dizzy, that wasn't too bad at all! I love the feeling of relief of stepping onto the scales and seeing that it isn't as bad as you thought!!

I am struggling a bit today, my mum got taken into hospital yesterday and is getting an operation to remove her gallbladder right about now (if all has gone to plan) I feel a bit stressed about it, and that is normally a time when I would stuff my face, so really going to try to be good!

I have heard nervous energy burns calories, so here's hoping! Every cloud has a silver lining!! Smile

Welcome newbies, kk I've found my energy levels better with baby on SW as am not skipping lunch and necking half a loaf of white bread at 4pm. Cous cous is good quick lunch with lots of veggies and some protein. Have some days resorted to making lunch night before when my 2 are both finally asleep.

Hope your mum is OK EW, waiting is the worst bit. Lost another two and a half pounds when weighed last night, so 18lbs off now. Not sure my xmas wish should have been to rock the sexy sectary look in a dress I've seen in Dorthoy P's , bet rest of groups were more sensible. Still 6 years of pregnancy and breast feeding have left me feeling frumpy

DontCallMeBaby · 06/10/2010 19:04

I think that's an excellent Christmas wish! Why the hell not? Link to dress?

I haven't filled in my wish; I'm thinking of giving the sticker to DD. I'm not really that motivated by stickers. :) I'm motivated by numbers, and by diminishing muffin top. Not quite so pleased about having to constantly hoick my top down today because my work trousers have turned into hipsters, but it's in a good cause!

findingtheRialme · 06/10/2010 20:08

yup, link to dress!

well done lossesSmile

EW, and speedy recovery vibes to your mum.

findingtheRialme · 06/10/2010 20:09

well done on* losses Smile Blush

findingtheRialme · 06/10/2010 20:09

ooops, that not meant to happen either

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 06/10/2010 20:29

Hope your Mum's op has gone well EW. Mine is coming out when I'm thin (so next year then!). Fingers crossed she makes a speedy recovery.

Dita, I'm wimping out of the job, it's too far and I don't want to make life more stressful. So am going to do some voluntary work to ease myself back into the world of proper work. I shall keep my fingers crossed for you.

Good loss Upsy, you've lost a similar amount to me, I'm on 17.5lbs plus or minus whatever happens tomorrow. Would love to see the dress.

What's all this Christmas wish thing ? I can't stay to group tomorrow as have to take DD to the orthodontist. She's not impressed she has to come whilst I weigh but that is tough as I need the discipline of going, especially after last night's er, episode.

ElizabethWakefield · 06/10/2010 21:05

Thank all for the good luck vibes unfortunately the op didn't go ahead!

She was taken in first thing yesterday morning, to prepare for the op first thing this morning, then this morning it got moved to this afternoon, I phoned at 4 and she still hadn't gone to theatre. She then phoned me at 4.45 crying saying they had cancelled the op, were sending her home and would give her a new date in about 8 weeks. She hasn't been able to keep food down for over a month so she does actually need the opAngry So she has been so pumped full of premeds she doesn't think she can come home alone so I have to go and get her.

Drag DD with me get there about half an hour later and just as I arrive they make the decision to keep her in after all!! But by now there is no bed for her, her bad has been taken in the space of 30 mins.

So I take her down to the cafe (as she hadn't eaten since dinner the night before) while they find her a bed, she gets taken to the ward at 6, but we are not allowed in cos visiting doesn't start to 7, so we hang about for an hour and finally get in. Honestly!! What a carry on! So fingers crossed it will now go ahead tomorrow.

I'm starving, resisted eating anything in the hospital (wasn't too hard to be honest!!) or bringing anything in, so have a baked potato on the go!

I'll be glad when tomorrow is over!

I am missing my group xmas night next week, as I am on holiday...slightly disappointed, as there are gifts I hear. We got 2 options sachets each on Monday, and apparently the xmas gift is even better! Grin

OP posts:
ditavonteesed · 07/10/2010 07:29

better than 2 options sachetsa, surely not. sorry to hear about you and your mums days, sounds olike such a nightmare, crossing everything for it going ahead today.

I am not feeling too hot, last night I had the urge to eat a plate of chicken nuggets and chips, then went for a lie down about 6pm yesterday, just got up, not sure what that was all about.

Melty · 07/10/2010 10:56

Er, maybe your body having got used to being a temple on your healthy eating plan, didn't know what to do with the nuggets so flaked on you instead??
Do you feel ok now?

Anyway need advice, have to go to work meal tonight, and we are going to a Lovely Thai restaurant.
Any suggestions?
Cant do fish/seafood of any kind...

Ninjacat · 07/10/2010 11:30

EW sorry to hear about your mum. grr Angry

Ok so I faced the scales of doom and it was a gain as expected. 1.5lb to be precise which is not actually as bad as I feared especially as last week I was in tights and this week trousers (1/2lb?).

It was our christmas meeting and we had lots of tasters and stuck our wishes to a christmas tree. Had a horrid moment where half way through my friend and I snaffeling the goodies the leader said "and after the meeting you can help yourself to tasters" Blush

Made it all the way through until 9pm but then attacked a loaf with a pack of butter and had a very nasty accident resulting in the partial demise of both.

So today. Best foot forward. Porridge for brekkie with banana and 0% greek yogurt. mmm...

ps thanks for the lunch ideas. I'm storing them up

desiretochange · 07/10/2010 11:49

May I join please? Looked through Food Optimising book last night but felt like information overload, looking at the plans I have decided that the Green Plan is the one which would suit me, but planning is not really my strong point, so was wondering if someone could give me sample menu for couple of days till I get my head around the plan. Need to lose at least 3 stone:(

ditavonteesed · 07/10/2010 12:04

desire to change, if you look on the website they have sample menu's. hth, I need to lose 3 stone as well.

desiretochange · 07/10/2010 12:33

Thanks Dita, can I ask another question then, in the book it says you can have between 5 to 15 syns per day, but am not sure how many syns I can have because I am doing it on my own, not at a class, I am 5'3" and weigh 12st 8lbs:(

Melty · 07/10/2010 12:48

They recommend you have at least 5 syns day so you dont deprive yourself, but allow you to go up to 15. Generally, they say stick around 10 to maximise weight loss.
Youre in good company here Smile

findingtheRialme · 07/10/2010 12:53

start on the full 15 syns desire!

DS£ hasjust "shared" my salad sandwich, while his lovely cheese and ham toastie was cookingHmm am a bit hungry now, but WI tomorrow so i have to be good. thing is, I'm sure it won't be a great weigh in after starting to eat again instead of my 3 day diet of jaffa cakes and painkillers.

hope all is well today EW.

ditavonteesed · 07/10/2010 13:28

rial that is so cheeky, wouldn't be having that, can you have some fruit or something to fill up.

thinking of you ew.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 07/10/2010 13:43

Blimey EW, what a nightmare. My fingers are crossed for your Mum today.

Rial, Hope you are feeling better. I would eat something, fruit or maybe yoghurt to fill you up.

Welcome Desire. Green days are great for this time of year, very comforting.

Ninja, gains are horrid, I had a 1.5lb one a couple of weeks ago. At least it was only a partial demise of the bread and butter and not a total one. Do it again and we'll report you to the RSPCB&B!

Weighin this morning and lost 1.5lbs so am happy. Had to take DS to orthodontist so couldn't stay. Wasn't happy after that, 3 years, braces top and bottom. Removable at first then train tracks and head gear at night. They are going on just befor Christmas and I have promised I will also give up chocolate.

desiretochange · 07/10/2010 14:11

Thank you all for your welcome:) Going to sit down again with the book tonight and work out menu for week, am not great at planning ahead but really want to shift this weight.

nikki1978 · 07/10/2010 16:24

Day two here and it turns out I am an idiot. Did well on a red day yesterday. Decided I was going to alternate red and green days. Was half way through my lunch of a big jacket potato with tuna, light mayo and a bit of low fat cheddar when I realised I had eaten a bacon sarnie for breakfast (half asleep head thought I was doing a red day!).

ARRRGGGHHH!

So today menu will have been

B - 2 slice small loaf bread, light butter, 3 slices lean bacon, ketchup
L - Large jacket potato with tuna, light mayo and 10g low fat cheddar
D - Half packet Uncle Bens Express Mushroom Rice, sharwoods egg noodles and stirfried veg

Have I cocked up entirely?

nikki1978 · 07/10/2010 16:26

Thinking about it can I have the bacon as syns instead? Have cheese as healthy option a and bread and tuna as healthy option b but have only used 4 syns on butter and mayo (it was extra light).....
