So today is D day! Diet starts today, I have my first slimming world class tonight and i am feeling quite motivated. I think I probably have around 3 stones to lose, but i would be happy to even lose 2. I just feel fat and unhealthy and have never been this big before!

So today is day 1 of sorting myself out! Just wondered if anyone else was starting today too, not just slimming world, but any thing, and wanted to have somewhere to chat, swap ideas, or get some moral support?

Looking at it there is no way I could eat that much at breakfast. I might take out the bacon....

Melty · 04/10/2010 22:42

Keziah, youre probably ok to be losing even when ttc, provided you eat a balanced diet, and dont deprive yourself. (The key is balanced)
And to be fair, if you do SW, its very easy not to deprive yourself!
I think you have to add dairy HEs. But your consultant should advise, and if you have to maintain for a while, then so be it. Priorities and all that....

Elizabeth, 8lbs is still a fair old whack, and if your initial target was 2 stone, youre quarter of the way there. Dont get despondant, Keep it up.

Melty · 04/10/2010 22:55

Nikki,
Why dont you have beans on toast, or drop the beans completely for breakfast if it seems too big.
Can you drop the butter and go for a low fat spread? or is that sacrilege. (Save the syns for a glass of wine!)
You might start off wanting to do big breakfast, but I think it wears off pretty quickly. (All that time over the cooker!)
Have a look at normal recipes and adapt to suit.
There are a few good sites with recipes, slimmingeats and minimins for example. Keep it varied, so you dot get bored, and dont allow yourself to get hungry.

I think everyone starts off having enormous portions, but it settles down, and you gradually start getting full with smaller portions, or perhaps your brain gets into gear and realises that you are full...
That has been my pattern in previous SW experiences.

And dont worry about a huge plate of salad, if you were to count the calories in a bug plate, without dressings, youd probably have about 40 calories!

Lulumaam · 05/10/2010 07:05

drumroll please !!

After my eating fest this weekend, I am still 2.5 lbs down.. ! joint slimmer of the week , so that's slimmer of the week two weeks on the run !! a total of 12*lbs off in three weeks... really pleased and feel super motivated for this wekk

ditavonteesed · 05/10/2010 07:35

lulu Envy well done that girl. EW 1/2 lb a week is really good (repeat that to self) and you are a quarter of the way there and it really doesn't feel like we have been doing this for that long.
really worried I haven't lost according to my wii scales and weigh in night tonight, I will be gutted and probably never go back as I am really struggling to afford it.
I think you all chat in the evening, I always get on in the morning to pages of chat.

well done everyone, what great losses.

DontCallMeBaby · 05/10/2010 07:55

I'm usually on briefly in the mornings Dita. :)

A tip with the Wii scales - I usually weigh at the beginning of my exercise sesh, and then again at the end. My weight usually goes down by a pound ... I know it's not 'real', but the difference to my moral between having lost versus maintained since last time, or maintained versus gained, is huge.

ditavonteesed · 05/10/2010 09:33

I am going to have to be so good this week, got a wedding at the weekend, so if I want a decent loss I can't have any other slips, wonder if I can bank points??? will be drinking vodka and diet coke (I know already got the vodka bottle for my handbag Blush) but the food is likely to be really fattening isn't it?

Lulumaam · 05/10/2010 11:47

you could take the long term view that you can have 70 - 100 sins a week , and save them all

fill up on salad/fruit/fizzy water/diet drinks befro you start eating..try to take the better options, and if you can't or don't want to , just bugger it and have a greaat time!

Lulumaam · 05/10/2010 14:31

had big lunch today,,

jacket potato, tin of tuna ( in spring water not brine ) mashed with a chopped spring onion and 1.5syns worth ( i level tbspn of light salad cream) - this tuna filling made enough for today and tomorrow's lunch - i then melted 42 g of low fat cheese on top of it, so like a tuna melt - healthy extra A...

I was stuffed to the gills.

and virutally syn free.

am finally gtting to grips with the fact you can do this EE plan and eat a lot and lose weight , it's like magic!

if i get 2 lbs off this week, i'll have lost a stone in 4 weeks.

Lulumaam · 05/10/2010 14:33

if anyone else has any recipe ideas, let's share!

i know we have some more earlier in the thread

dizzytrout · 05/10/2010 14:44

QUICK I NEED HELP!!!

Oh dear, I've totally lost the plot with my eating habits, had dd's christening this weekend and just ate like a pig from friday until today Blush

I'm getting weighed tonight....

Been in this position before, I was doing really well, had a bad few days, put weight on, then I never got back on plan. I need a kick up the backside, I really do!!!

ElizabethWakefield · 05/10/2010 15:56

Well done Lulu, you are doing so well Smile

Dizzy, I was the same this weekend, honestly, you could not imagine the amount I had, and it was all bad, I have decided to just put it behind me and try to do the best I can this week (as go on holiday for a week on Monday, so know I wont be that good that week)

Just put it behind you, whatever the outcome is tonight and start again.

I am starting to feel like I am stuck in a bit of a breakfast and lunch rut (I have both in work, due to my part time hours) I am not due a lunch hour or anything, but I do take something to eat, just eat it while working, but I feel quite limited in what I can have.

For breakfast every day I am having weetabix, skimmed milk and a banana. Then for lunch mostly varying between either a tuna or chicken salad. But I am starting to get bored of it and also feel that now it is starting to get cold, I'll want more than a salad. I am planning on making homemade soup, but just haven't actually got around to it yet.

If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it. There is a fridge, kettle and microwave in my work, but due to the no lunch break, I don't have a lot of time to actually make something, so needs to be quick.

just start again from tonight or tomorrow ... write it off and start afresh!

butternut squash soup - use ready prepped squash, red lentils, veg stock, onion , garlic, blend it...

Lulumaam · 05/10/2010 16:11

one of my best lunches is turkey rashers, fried eggs and sauteed new potatoes.. i boil the pots the day before.. and just fry them off in frylight. it is so filling.

jacket potatoes with beans, cottage cheese, chicken and apple & salad cream, or tuna red onion and salad cream all good fillings and the salad cream is 1.5 syns for a level tbpsn of light cream.

ditavonteesed · 05/10/2010 16:27

dizzy, stop and get back on track from now, no guilt, but if you don't you are letting yourself down, you are letting us down and it is not acceptable Wink
don't really have any good recipes, tend to eat whatever is to hand and I'm a rubbish cook.

breakfast, fruit and yoghurt, different cereals, hard boiled eggs (pre prepared), 2 bags of crisps and a mars bar????
weigh in in 2 hours, how can I lose weight between now and then?

Lulumaam · 05/10/2010 16:37

a good filling brekky is

scan bran , 2- 3, although i find two is filling enough.. with quark and smoked salmon and lemon juice.. i also take that to wrok as a mid omrning snack.. you can have 5 scan bran as a healthy extra b, the quark and salmon are free on EE

findingtheRialme · 05/10/2010 17:03

oh bugger, funeral today, went to Morrisons on way home and bought a healthy wrap for lunch, but since getting home from the school run I've had hula hoops and choc buttonsBlush

on the plus side I am wearing a skirt and top I've never been able to get on beforeSmile

DontCallMeBaby · 05/10/2010 20:54

Just squeaked in to weigh-in after a meeting at school - I was so hungry I think my intestines were starting to digest themselves, so I would have been REALLY disappointed with anything less than a reasonable loss! Yes, rationally I know that hungry does not = thin, but I can't help it. Anyway, down 2.5lb, yay!

kkfairybrains · 05/10/2010 23:30

Hi ladies! anyone mind if i jump in on the thread?
Started sw 3 weeks ago now after havin first baby, dd who is 12 weeks. Never done sw before so stil newish to me but finding it good so far and never feel deprived. Have dp doing it too which is a great help! Was very motivated at the start but was crap at the weekend but was stil down 1/2 lb this eve at WI. Bringing my weight loss to the grand total of 4 & 1/2 lb! So coming off slowly but surely.
Looking forward to the journey with all you ladies and think this thread is going to be a great help

Lulumaam · 06/10/2010 06:57

that's great ria and DCMB !!! well done

welcome, kkfairybrains

the more the merrier x

ditavonteesed · 06/10/2010 07:46

he kkfairybrains, your first born is 12weeks old and you have the togetherness to go to sw, am well impressed I think I was still in my pj's.
DCMB brill loss, well done.
I lost 1/2 lb, am quite disappointed but I have got a really upset tum and am reall bloated so I wonder if I have actually lost a little bit more, anyway at least it's off. told I can bank points for the wedding and also that I am not eating enough (ie all my points).

we are doing a contest to lose 10lbs by xmas, I was hoping to lose a hrell of a lot more than that tbh.
wondering when I amj going to start to notice my weight loss, think that would really spur me on a bit.

Melty · 06/10/2010 08:17

Morning. My work trousers are looser and a bit baggy round the bum, but I can't get into my 16s yet. Which leads me to belive that squeezing into a size 18 doesn't necessarily mean you are a size 18.
Not had too bad a week so far. Although had lovely curry last night (bill granger adapted -love his recipes) and thought I hadn't eaten enough superfree so ate an enormous orange. Remembered the large pile of spinach mixed through curry afterwards.
Was completely stuffed.
Having porridge and fruit every morning- its so cold these days! Occasionally bake quorn sausages the night before and have them reheated in morning with poached egg.

Don't be disappointed with half pound losses. Slow and steady is def the way forward.
One of my friends has done lighter life twice. Both times has lost bucketloads of weight and clearly the counselling didn't help because she's back into bad habits again.
We will be fine.
We just have to retrain our brains!

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 06/10/2010 08:37

Am a little late but a belated welcome to Nikki and KKfairy.

Any loss is good in my book, gains are the ones that are a PITA. Dizzy, I lost the plot last night but am getting back on it today, I refuse to undo my good work.

I've seen a job I could apply for as haven't has a 'proper' job for 11 years now since DD was tiny. I had a little business for the last few years which survived the recession but has pretty much committed suicide in the last month. This is the first time I've seen something that would mean I could get a foot back in the door so am mulling it over. If by any miracle I got it I would be so busy I wouldn't have time to stuff my face !

ditavonteesed · 06/10/2010 09:06

wynken that is really odd, I applied for a job yesterday, waiting to hear but got a reply straightaway saying they couldn't open my cv and to email it again, so am pleased that at least the application form I filled in for them obviously passed. am really excited but scared at the same time. and there would definatley not be time for eating.

Ninjacat · 06/10/2010 09:29

Well done on the loses this week Smile

I weigh in tonight and I'm expecting a gain as have been totally off the wagon for a bit.

Feel like I can climb back on now though. So it'sbeen fruit for breakfast and supper will be cauliflower and potato curry. Just have to come up with a good lunch option.

I have real problems if I'm out and get hungry. What is a good option for a shop bought lunch or snack?
