So today is D day! Diet starts today, I have my first slimming world class tonight and i am feeling quite motivated. I think I probably have around 3 stones to lose, but i would be happy to even lose 2. I just feel fat and unhealthy and have never been this big before!

So today is day 1 of sorting myself out! Just wondered if anyone else was starting today too, not just slimming world, but any thing, and wanted to have somewhere to chat, swap ideas, or get some moral support?

A mere half pound this week ... but given the two curries, three pints of cider and wall-to-wall biscuits yesterday, I think I got off lightly (ho ho). And the half pound took me to my first half stone. :)

Lulumaam · 28/09/2010 20:42

well done candy, moo and mrs..

brilliant!!!

i've had a good day, so settling down with my syns.. half a bag of monster munch and a crunchie !! no wine today

gone a smidge over 15 syns but not had any dinner .. had massive lunch and loads of fruit, so it will all even out ! LOL

ditavonteesed · 28/09/2010 21:06

yay 2lbs, considering how badly I feell off the eagon at the weekend am well chuffed.

ElizabethWakefield · 28/09/2010 21:20

Well done ladies, there are some really good losses going on!!

Rial, glad your DS seemed to have a better day today hopefully tomorrow will be even better!

I have been okish today. First day of my 3 day course at work. I decided just to bring my own food with me. So I brought 2 alpen light bars (2 are a healthy extra and they are really nice) so had one at the morning break and one at afternoon break, when everyone else had cakes.

Then at lunch i brought a chicken salad, but also managed to eat, a small (buffet sized) chicken mayo wrap and a small (about the size of a 10p) raspberry tart. So not too bad, could have been much worse! So i have used no other syns today, so think i should be ok.

Will try to do the same for the next 2 days (minus the wrap and tart Wink)

lost 1.5lb this week, quite relived as have found it hard, due to child induced lack of sleep

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 28/09/2010 23:10

Welcome MrsMojo. Well done everyone, good losses all round.

Elizabeth well done with the course. I love Alpen lights, I think I possibly prefer them to cake, well nearly.

2 friends who were doing SW (not at my group but we were texting regulary) have decided the time isn't right for them at the moment. I'm really grateful for this thread, it is a great support in between meetings, thank you Elizabeth for starting it.

Seeing as we're nearly into October I've decided to set myself a challenge, 6 or 7lbs for the month I think, will decide which when I've had my WI on Thursday.

Keziahhopes · 29/09/2010 00:02

Hi, lost half pound this week... pleased as felt stuck a few weeks ago.

There are some great losses this week Smile

upsydaisysexstylist · 29/09/2010 08:36

Ooh like the challange idea, I want to reach my club10 by the end of Oct; 7.5lb away. Am outing myself as someone else who needs to lose a lot of weight 5st1.5lb away from my target. I set mine for half a stone over the top of a healthy BMI for my weight as will still be breast feeding and am unsure how accurate BMI is at that level. Plus would be thinner than I have ever been in my adult life.

ditavonteesed · 29/09/2010 09:34

I also think challenges a good idea, I have decided to base all my graphs and how much I have lost, got to lose on the ww scales, which are weighing me 5 and a half pounds heavier than my wii scales. apparently we are going to dtart doing xmas challenges next week.
wondered about getting some of those tone up trainers for taking dog out, what so you think, any good or a load of marketing bull.
I do think this last few weeks I have thought ab out little other than food, what can I have next etc, which makes me hungier than normal. going to be worth it in the end though, does seem a very long way off today.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 29/09/2010 13:32

Well done Kezia Smile

Upsydaisy, I've got 6 stone to go. I'll see tomorrow my loss then decide for October as there have been 5 WIs this month and I want to calculate my average over the 5 weeks.

Dita I'm not sure about those trainers, I reckon they'll be really comfy but am not convinced about the toning.

I am a bit stressed atm as was working out finances for next month. DH was made redundant at the end of June, about two weeks before I joined SW. He went freelance a few weeks ago so I've been sorting that out having spent the last two days doing my tax return. Could hear the dog up to something but was concentrating too much to stop .

Went down to find she had ripped one of the big cushions you sit on off the sofa and was ripping the stuffing out of it. Luckily it's underneath but at the front. Usually this would be enough to send me running to the biscuit tin. I resisted but didn't half feel sad for a bit. Have cheered up and am going to grab some food from shops so I can feed us all later as cupboards bare.

findingtheRialme · 29/09/2010 16:31

well done on the lossesSmile

can't believe it but I am ill again, felt like I'd been run over by a steam roller last night, and was overcome with weakness in sainsburys! (buying hideously expensive ingredients for DS1s cooking lesson today, which has been postponed til Friday, ingredients left at schoolHmm), cue shivers and sweats and head feeling like it would fall off and eyes feeling like they would explodeSad. DH has been in charge all day as I have been sleeping, but now all the boys are home it's like a warzoneSad I want my mum!

My next challenge is to lose 5lb, which will take me into the next stone bracket, the next number seeming to be my stumbling block - I think I have got to ??st 1lb, but don't seem to be able to get below it.

thanks for the kind words re DS3 and nursery MCM, I think I will see how next week goes and then decide (just in case it is me like everyone thinks), we had trauma this morning at getting dressed time cos DS3s pants were with DS2s uniformSad

Lulumaam · 29/09/2010 17:44

hope you're feeling better soon ria

I am feeling really bloated and heavy today and convinced i've somehow put the weight back on Hmm

today i've had -

2 sliced nimble ( h ex b ) with quark and smoked salmon, which are free

nothing mid morning except black coffee as i was too busy

lunch was two turkey rashers, sauteed potatoes and an egg all done in frylight, and free

dinner has been chilli ( extra lean mince) loads of tomatoes and beans and rice , all free

so nothing wierd

went to about 17 syns last night on recount, but have only had 1 syn today ( milk in tea this morning, found a sweetener i can tolerate in tea )

so not sure why this is

ElizabethWakefield · 29/09/2010 18:05

I was better today at my course, I brought a salad and my alpen bars again. Although there was a lovely tomato soup as part of the lunch, so I decided to have a cup of it.

I have such a sore throat and am loaded with the cold, and it was so nice and soothing! It wasn't like a cream of tomato or anything so not sure what the syns would be??

Decided not to try to go to the other class tonight, mainly because it started a minute ago and I am just in Grin

I normally only work part time hours when DD is at school, but this course is 9-5.30 everyday, so I am trying to juggle having someone to look after DD every morning before school and also in the evening until I get home, so I'm really finding I am less organised that normal. So I have nothing really I can have for dinner! Will go to Tesco later.

I feel awful, I just want to eat buttery mashed potatoes and thick white bread Blush

findingtheRialme · 29/09/2010 19:05

Sad EW hope you feel better soon.

lulu - do you think it could be the rice? I remember an old Rosemary Conley book, she said not to eat rice before WI.Hmm

just spoke to my mum, she said I am ill because of stress - when I started school (screaming all the wayWink) she ended up with bronchitis! Have to be better tomorrow as she has offered to come round and help! Am trying to sit up!!!

deewillow · 29/09/2010 19:27

hi there, can i join this thread as a newbie Smile. I had my first weigh in at slim world meeting this morning....numbers were about as expected really. I'm a re-joiner to slim world. Was a member back in 2002-2004 when i managed to lose 5 stones Grinbut
over the last year or so about 1 1/2 stone have crept back on....mainly due to red wine, divorce and a new man who can cook!
after a tussle with my favourite jeans at the weekend i decided to nip it in the bud before it gets any worse and re-join. Lots have changed - this new extra easy thing, so I'd love the support and advice of you fellow s-worlders please.

Lulumaam · 29/09/2010 19:39

welcome dee Smile
not sure it's the rice, think it might be hormonal? just feel BIIIIIG.

going to have some fruit & fat free yoghurt now and a biscuit ( 3.5 syns) so will have had a really light day on teh syns.. 4.5 in total , so i hope, psychologically , i'll feel lighter and therefore better

ElizabethWakefield · 29/09/2010 21:13

Welcome Dee Smile

I have felt really bloated today too Lulu, maybe it is the weather!

Still not had dinner, DP is trying to concoct something in the kitchen, using chicken, chillis, peppers and yoghurt as we speak.....just leaving him to it and hoping it is edible and ready soon, I am so tired!!

It could well be stress Rial, hope you feel better tomorrow Smile

OP posts:
DontCallMeBaby · 29/09/2010 22:01

Lulu - hormones, gas, or something you ate yesterday? I find that eating something a bit 'wrong' the day before makes me feel bad the day after.

I am SO tired - I've had my swimming lesson, and it's made everything hurt, including my brain! Who knew swimming wasn't just madly thrashing up and down the pool and hoping not to drown? I can't remember what each bit of me is supposed to be doing, and I keep forgetting to breathe.

JustGettingByMum · 30/09/2010 10:43

Hi, I joined this thread a couple of weeks ago, but have been off to Italy for a holiday with my DH so haven't posted for a while. Had my first SW meeting since returning, last night and have managed to lose 1/2 lb despite the holiday.

This means I've lost 6.5lbs this month, I keep telling myself that's good considering we were away for a week, and we had my birthdaty and our wedding anniversary this month too, BUT it feels low Sad

Will perservere though, as I am still focussing on losing 20 lbs by xmas (interim target, more to follow....)

Hope everyone else is doing well, have only skimmed the posts so am a bit out of the loop.

ditavonteesed · 30/09/2010 12:05

just getting by, that is amazing considering all those th8ings, sounds like you have had a really full month, If you can lose during that imagine what you can do on a normal month.
I am feeling all inspired again today, the lady who runs our playgroup has lost 2 and a half stone this year and looks absolutly amazing. hgelps me stay away from the biccies.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 30/09/2010 13:00

Justgettingby, I think that is brilliant for the month. My monthly target is 6lbs for October so you've done 1/2 a pound more than that despite being in Italy.

I lost 2.5lbs today so am pleased with that. We had a stand in leader today who said that her groups are struggling a bit at the moment as foods they've been eating all summer just aren't hitting the spot at the moment with people craving more comfort food with the change in the season. I guess that's something to take into account when meal planning.

Anyone else decided how much to aim for in October?

Melty · 30/09/2010 13:17

I deal with my stresses by baking. Now I'm going to make everyone at work fat [evil] because instead of wolfing down my cakes, I am getting a big kick out of everyone else doing that Rolling eyes and sighing thing as they bite in!!
I cooked a recipe from slimmingeats last night. (Warning, it makes enough for 4!)
Nasi Goreng
I have just had it for lunch. Its unbelievable, it tastes so good, and its a non expensive dinner. (Mince/rice/onions/peas and peppers) I ate mine with extra superfree veg today.
Im stuffed.

Lulumaam · 30/09/2010 16:14

6.5lbs in one month inlcuidng holidays is still a great sustainable weightloss.. i think that is the key.. a few pounds off a month is likely to stay off isn't it?

well done too wynken

agree re summer food not hitting the spot.. i don't want salad anymore!!

had chilli last night and for lunch today - extra lean mince, toms, beans , tabasco.. had rice last night, none today.. have had scan bran for H ex b today and they seem to fill you up really well

not sure what to have for dinner

prob eggs and turkey rashers..

ditavonteesed · 30/09/2010 16:25

hmm just cooking sausage mash and gravy for dinner, I have quorn sausages and going to do my mash with mustard instead of butter. yum.
have decided that I want to lose 9lbs in oct, slightly high target but I really need to kick start. have you seen those inncoent veg pots on offer in tesco's, might have to try some of those for lunches they look lush.

findingtheRialme · 30/09/2010 18:10

that recipe looks nice melty. may try that.

have done an online shop today as there's no way I can drive to the supermaket tomorrow. am glad I can edit it til 10pm, am sure I've forgotten something!

have ordered in for the boysBlush
