Hi all, just checking in after a weekend of good eating snatched from the jaws of defeat. On Friday DS came and cooked tea for us, but it was ready really late - 8.45pm - and I was so hungry I just hoovered it up. As it was delicious, but mostly made up of white wine, cream and pasta, with a few mushrooms and a bit of chicken thrown in, I can't imagine what level of biffing I achieved.
It didn't help that I ate about 1/2 tub of haagan daz chocolate, pralines and something else ice cream afterwards. Nobody else liked it very much as it was so rich, which I never find a problem.
Anyway, instead of just carrying on stuffing myself for the rest of the weekend, which is what I've done in the past, I got straight back in the zone, so hope I'm allowed to award myself a smug pat on the back.
Dinky - my trigger is any boredom and worry. I agree about exercise being a good response, but I am trying to stop seeing myself as helpless in the face of this.
Hope you all had a good weekend.
By the way, does everybody weigh just once a week?

encyclogirl · 18/10/2010 09:54

iluv & Guitar, I'm 5'2" at currently 9'9" I will say it only takes a few pounds of weight loss to make a huge difference at our height and weight.

I'm aiming for 9'5" which is exactly a stone lighter than what I started at.

encyclogirl · 18/10/2010 09:58

Sorry serial posting here...

Guitargirl that was a fab loss. Congrats!

Reptile, boredom is a major trigger for me too. I'm finding yoga in the evenings really helpful. Kind of fills a hole you know?

Buda, 2 pizza slices is not the end of the world by any means! You balanced it with some good choices earlier in the day :)

Okay bootcampies. Are we ready to go again this week?

Today's food is:

Porridge
Apple
Homemade Veg Soup, 3 ryvita, cottage cheese and sliced ham
Apple and Skinny Cappacino
Salmon and veg

encyclogirl · 18/10/2010 09:59

Oh god 3 posts in a row...sorry!

Reptile. I take a 'peek' on Monday's and officially weigh in on Fridays.

Today's peek was good :)

BudaisintheZONE · 18/10/2010 11:05

Morning all.

Well not a great weekend I have to admit.

Saturday - breakfast was 2 sausages and a slice of rye bread.
Lunch - chicken and bread.
Dinner - green chicken curry with rice
Also had crisps before dinner
Had Vienneta ice cream while watching X Factor

Sunday - 2 small slices of toast
Lunch - Fry up with a slice of rye bread.
Afternoon - 4 jaffa cakes
Dinner - roast turkey, roast potatoes, stuffing, carrots, peas and sweetcorn
followed by some apple cake and ice cream.
Then stayed up late watching Tv and had crisps, more stuffing and 4 rolos. Blush

Was def just picking for the sake of it.

Annoyed with myself.

I'm wandering in after reading iluvcake's thread about stuffing her face. Yesterday I was pouring boxes of mini smarties into my mouth and chain eating biscuits Blush. I need help Sad

I found posting on the 30day shred thread kept me motivated and ignited a spark of enthusiasm for exercise (sadly the spark has gone out this month) so i'm hoping the support of you guys will help sort out my biffing!

Vital stats... 5ft 9, 11stone 12lb. Would like to lose a stone and crack the sugar habit.

iluvcake · 18/10/2010 13:06

Hi justaminute! lol at the "pouring smarties into my mouth"-have been known to do that too. I've had a few slip-ups this weekend but on the whole, am sticking to it. Once you get out of the habit of mainlining sugar, it's so much easier and the highs and lows disappear.

This weekend, I've had porridge with 50/50 water and milk with chopped fruit and almonds both mornings.

Saturday we went sightseeing in London which normally for me would mean coffee stops morning and afternoon with a big slice of cake. I had the coffee but with fruit. Lunch was burger and chipsBlush-not great but I am sort of doing Paul McKenna too and stopped when I felt pleasantly full so I left a quarter of the chips and burger. Small snack when I got home of corn thins with hoummous and some hot smoked salmon. During X factor I couldn't hold out and had a choc chip cereal bar and a glass of wine.

Yesterday lunch was similar to previous night's snack and lamb with veg for dinner.

I then made some chocolate cupcakes for a leaving do and scoffed one and another laterSad. However, I'm finding that I can stop if I do slip up and am keeping the title of the thread in my head.

Today has started well. Porridge again and luch of rye breas, low fat hoummous and smoked mackerel with strawberries and youghurt to follow. I'm also drinking a litre and half of water instead of the three cans of diet coke I used to have.

Getting the blood sugar levels right help so much in keeping the cravings at bay. Then, when the cravings are in your head instead of your body(IYKWIM!)it's easier to distract yourself with something.

I also started to 30 day shred a while ago but I need to start it again.

iluvcake · 18/10/2010 13:07

Buda, fresh start for the week ahead!!

How are you getting on today?Smile

BudaisintheZONE · 18/10/2010 13:29

iluvcake you sound like you are doing really well! I think you will find not having the diet cokes should make a huge difference to you. There is lots of research showing that they cause cravings.

I am doing ok today. Breakfast was porridge and a banana with some flaked almonds. Lunch was bad though. Sandwich with white bread and cake. However it is all gone now so am back on track. Dinner will be sausage and lentil casserole.

Miserable wet day here so dog got a short walk. Cleaner here so didn't fancy doing any exercise in the house but will do my cross trainer tomorrow.

CheeeseOnToast · 18/10/2010 15:37

hi everyone

OK weekend this end - not great, but I had the means to make it a lot worse!

Saturday: special k, lunch was salad and hot smoked salmon, dinner was three slices of pizza (blush) and two glasses of red.

Sunday: special k, lunch was bacon roll consumed during my ten mile bike ride then dinner was chicken thighs cooked into a stew with lots of veg. Lots of rice for DP but I only had one small spoonfull. No wine.

So overall, the pizza wasn't great but I could have had far more to drink (I left a bottle of wine unfinished! Shock) and the bike ride might have smoothed out any other rubbish moments.

Stat-wise, I'm also 5'3 like iluvcake and guitargirl. I started at 10stone in...can't remember, July? - and I'm now 9 stone 2. My aim is 8stone 7. I've not been exercising lately as I've had a chest infection and not quite back to fit yet, although I've started walking to work every day (three miles)... but I do get the tube back Blush

Food today, so far so good - special k for breakfast, salad for lunch (tomatoes, cucumber, celeriac and grated red cabbage and carrot - no dressing) - and not sure about dinner. I am meeting a friend for a drink (probably red wine again Blush) and DP has just had some fantastic news about a job he's gone for which means there might be some more celebrating later... Grin

justaminute · 18/10/2010 17:49

Oooh cheeseontoast - I like the sound of "fantastic news" - I'm excited for you and we've only just met Smile

It's day one and I'm doing OK ish. I have had a packet of wotsits but no sugary naughties. I just took the lid off the biscuit tin then realised what I was doing and put it straight back on!

I'm starting to get a headache, not sure if it's tiredness or sugar withdrawal.

BudaisintheZONE · 18/10/2010 17:58

Cheeese - sounds good. Great news!

justaminute - if you have a headache drink lots of water and take painkillers if necessary.

Been good other than lunch. Have sausage and lentil casserole in the oven. Hope it's nice.

Guitargirl · 19/10/2010 08:01

Hi, have not been doing well. Biffed like there was no tomorrow on Saturday. Good on Sunday and biffed again yesterday. Cross with myself. If I carry on like this I will have put on by Friday. Feel free to roast me...

justaminute · 19/10/2010 12:00

Guitargirl - STOP the biffing - you have 3 days to redeem yourself don't let last weeks weight loss be in vein - says she who keeps losing and gaining the same 3lb. Wink

I managed to resist all sweet temptation last night and even managed to shred, still feeling a bit headachey.

encyclogirl · 19/10/2010 22:53

Hi girlies, hope all biffing has now ceased!

Just completed my hour of yoga, apparently Sam Cam practises for an hour a day too.

If it's good enough for Sam Cam...

Still on plan over here. I think it's pretty easy to stay disciplined once you get in the zone. It took me a full year to find my way into the zone proper, but now I'm here, I'm not budging!

Pu-erh tea definitely helping. No carbs in the evening definitely helping. No eating after 7.00pm definitely helping. Same breakfast everyday definitely helping.

Well done on resisting temptation Justaminute. I know that headachey feeling. It does pass.

Buda, tell me about your sausage and lentil casserole. Sounds so yum!

Cheese, 9stone 2??? OMG you are my total hero. I would LOVE to get down there. 8" 7' really? You have to stay around and share your progress. What exercise are you doing on a daily basis.

I am 5'2" and last week weighed in at 9'9" Trying to maintain that for this week, or maybe do a bit better. I was 10'5" 6 weeks ago. I'm 45 so I assumed it would take an age to shift. Wrong! Apparently all I had to do was get a bit real about my portions, my snacking and my total lack of water consumption. Plus I added yoga in.

Okay, off to bed now. Talk tomorrow.

BudaisintheZONE · 20/10/2010 11:47

HI all.

Am zoning. Have been tempted by naughtiness but have resisted.

Not enough exercise as per usual. Although the dog's walks are shorter as I am walking faster! And the hill that used to kill me is a lot easier.

Encyclogirl - the sausage and lentil casserole was OK. Basically I baked the sausages and then briefly did them in a pan to crisp a bit. Fried up some onion. Added tin tomatoes, tin of lentils, tin of butter beans, tomato puree, stock, Worcestershire sauce and cooked.

OP posts:
justaminute · 20/10/2010 11:57

You sound positively glowing in that zone Encyclogirl - well done.

Buda - that sausage casserole sounds yum - I could do with some of that right now - it is freeeeezing at work today.

I'm still doing OK. I had a piece of apple cake last night (it has apples in it - one of my 5 a day?Wink) but it was my choice to eat it and enjoy it rather than stuffing my face with it to get a sugar rush.

It's still very early days for me the real test will be in 2 weeks when raging PMT usually takes control and I turn into a sugar craving devil.

dinkystinky · 20/10/2010 14:03

ILuv, Cheese - 10 stone is my goal weight! I'm 5 ft 4 but do alot of exercise so a fair amount of my weight is muscle mass. All those dreaming of v low weights, please bear in mind you need to aim for healthy weights for your lifestyle too - healthy and sustainable weights. 10 stone works for me as I know I can maintain at that weight - any lower I look ill and dont have the energy to do the exercise I need to do.

Have been off sick with gastric flu for a few days so who knows what the scales will say come friday Hmm

Guitargirl · 20/10/2010 14:59

Hi everyone, am doing ok food-wise today.

Been a very difficult week - MIL diagnosed with terminal cancer Sad Sad.

Am trying to stay focused with the eating/drinking as it helps my state of mind more generally to not eat crap but have definitely been emotionally over-eating. And drinking too much wine.

BudaisintheZONE · 20/10/2010 15:20

justaminute - you may find that with not having so much sugar that your PMT is not so bad.

dinky - wondered where you were. Gastric flu sounds yuck but could show good results on the scale!

Guitargirl - am so sorry about MIL. Very scary time. Sad

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 20/10/2010 16:38

Oh Guitargirl, am so sorry to hear about your MIL. My thoughts are with you and your family. Sad

dinkystinky · 20/10/2010 16:39

IME Buda, I tend to put on weight after an illness where havent been able to eat, due to sluggish digestive system etc afterwards....

BudaisintheZONE · 20/10/2010 16:50

Well that is just not fair dinky!

OP posts:
iluvcake · 20/10/2010 22:23

Guitargirl, so sorry about your MIL. Can't imagine how difficult things must be for you allSad.

Well, everyone sounds as if they are doing really well at the moment. We WILL do it!!

Over the past few days I've been zoning with a small "biff" every day ie a breakaway. I'm just finding it so hard to break that sugar habit completely.

On the positive side, I feel so much better and less tired that I used to. I'm having healthy low fat meals and having fruit and nuts or oatcakes for snacks. I'm not getting the shakes between meals and have noticed today the massive cravings (even if it's just a craving in my head IYKWIM) aren't there so much. It just shows how much better you feel when your blood sugar levels are not roller coastering.

I haven't done any exercise for two weeks as I hurt my neck last week. I've got a hardcore pilates session tomorrow and a boot camp style fitness session on Friday morning.

Dinky, hope you are feeling better soon-sounds nasty!

Encyclogirl, what is pu-erh tea??

justaminute · 21/10/2010 09:46

Guitargirl - so sorry to hear your news.

iluv - you seem to be doing well. I'm keeping myself busy to stop the mindless eating which in turn is making me feel more energised. The busier I am the more energy I have - it's a weird but good cycle Smile
