23 weeks til Xmas - who'll join me in a LBD challenge?

buttonmoon78 · 17/07/2010 11:15

I bought some wonderful red shoes a couple of weeks ago and they'd look fab with a LBD. The trouble is I wouldn't look so good in one! I really want to wear them at Christmas so would love to look good in a LBD by then. I'm thinking that a couple of stones would be a good place to begin.

So, my plan is...
I've already given up alcohol (a short term thing as I love it) on the basis that cutting down makes me miserable - I find it easier to have none than some and then stop!
In September, my youngest starts nursery so will be joining a gym.
I WILL do my pilates dvd & use my gym ball more.
I WILL start running again.

Any other chubby ones who fancy joining me? The more the merrier

Altogether now... jingle bells, jingle bells

PS mirrors are the devil's work - especially changing room ones, which aren't covered in dust (deliberately left on) and positioned at flattering angles!

DottyDot · 03/08/2010 19:06

aww - Button - don't be despondent - it's just a bad few days and you can start again - remember Christmas and long term goals. And this thread! You'll be fine - just keep going and try to imagine each day as a new one to conquer!

meanwhile I'm on a train back to Manchester from London and I'm STARVING... First time in the 3 years I've been commuting (I come down 1-2 days a week) that I've not bought any food or nibbles on the train! Home and dinner in an hour!

dillinger · 04/08/2010 09:29

Yes Button - treat each day as a new one. If it doesnt go to plan, dont beat yourself up about it just try again tomorrow.

I shouldve ran today but we all slept in and obv I have the children all day so no one to take over for half an hour. Im not confident enough to run on an evening yet.

Really need to get back on that shred dvd!

buttonmoon78 · 04/08/2010 09:31

Morning all! Feeling a lot more positive today and a lot less sick. So am back with a vengeance.

Have spent the last few days planning how to avoid a big holiday gain, think I've got a few tactics sorted...

OP posts:
rosieposey · 04/08/2010 10:08

Hello

Well had a bit of a slip up last night, but back on track today. I really really am going to have to stay off the scales every day as its putting me off a bit. Looking forward to Sunday though. Not sure i will have lost loads but 2lbs will be great.

Button glad you are feeling better today - where are you off to on holiday?

buttonmoon78 · 04/08/2010 10:47

France - we go every year. My tactics so far are:

  1. drink alcohol only when eating, no cheeky mid pm glasses of wine
  2. at lunch time, put food on plates then put the rest of the food back in the fridge to eliminate the possibility of seconds, thirds etc
  3. when we go to the lake, swim as much as possible, proper energetic swimming
  4. take trainers for a run (did this last year but it was too hot to run, proper heatwave)

I want to enjoy my holiday, but I would like to come back with less than a 7lb gain!

OP posts:
MostlyLurking · 04/08/2010 12:02

Glad you are feeling better Button. Def take your trainers, even a brisk walk around the lake would help.

I've been doing okish this week, bar the wine oops, must fit in more exercise myself though.

DottyDot · 04/08/2010 16:38

holidays are very tricky - we're off camping in North Devon on Monday for a week and I'm not sure I can do it without copious amounts of red wine and chocolate....

DottyDot · 04/08/2010 18:13

Aaarrggghhhh - why did I have a Starbucks Cafe Creme Frappucino today (and why did I then look up on the Starbucks website to see how many calories it was?!). Curse those architects for opening a brand new Starbucks in my work offices - and giving us 10% discount on everything..!

rosieposey · 05/08/2010 09:30

Dotty, i went camping a few weeks ago for 3 days and lost about 3lbs lol - its hard work!

Well its going ok here, i am quite hungry alot of the time but i keep telling myself its for a good cause.

MostlyLurking · 05/08/2010 10:23

,

Rosie, make some veg soup or something similar to fill up a bit.

MostlyLurking · 05/08/2010 16:44

well I took the plunge and bought scales - they have added 2lb to my weight so I am now 11st 1lb or it could have been the rubbish week I am having . So there we are, nearly back to square one.

enjoysthesunshine · 06/08/2010 08:08

The same Sad. On a positive note, I suppose I didn't gain. But I was really hoped to lose more before our holiday for a buffer. Just got to try really hard to stay the same (or less!) for two weeks. Hmmm tricky. Feel like I'm on a downward spiral. Beginning of the week full of motivation, last two days, none. Tired, sore throat and ear. I blame school holidays. Going to try hard today to be cheerful. I've just SQUEEZED into a pair of denim capri things that I used to wear a lot and have managed to do up the button, although I'm spilling over the top. Partly because I have so little that fits and partly because sometimes wearing something tight is a good reminder! I'm counting on a bit of give in denim through the day too....

Back in two weeks. Wish me luck - and no rain!

Scrap my 11 st 2 from yesterday, my wonderful new scales tell me that this morning I am 10st 12 so I'm going with that Grin so 1lb lost (yesterdays weigh in was clothed and mid afternoon, clutching at straws or what!). Having real trouble cutting and pasting list so if someone could kindly update me that would be appreciated. Next couple of days quite busy but will crack on with vengence from Sunday.

Good luck for weigh ins today and for those going on holiday Smile.

Oh no - you see, hols are definately exempt. After all, if you can't ever let your hair down then life soon becomes a bit dull...

Count me in. DD will be 1 at Christmas and still need to shift the last 1/2 stone or so of the baby weight and tone up.
Sending out motivational vibes to everyone!!

Not sure how to add myself to the list as I can't seem to copy it. Confused
