23 weeks til Xmas - who'll join me in a LBD challenge?

I bought some wonderful red shoes a couple of weeks ago and they'd look fab with a LBD. The trouble is I wouldn't look so good in one! I really want to wear them at Christmas so would love to look good in a LBD by then. I'm thinking that a couple of stones would be a good place to begin.

So, my plan is...
I've already given up alcohol (a short term thing as I love it) on the basis that cutting down makes me miserable - I find it easier to have none than some and then stop!
In September, my youngest starts nursery so will be joining a gym.
I WILL do my pilates dvd & use my gym ball more.
I WILL start running again.

Any other chubby ones who fancy joining me? The more the merrier

Altogether now... jingle bells, jingle bells

1lb down for me - yes has been very quiet on here so shall we start a new one and a count down to christmas - i have changed my target to 8st 10lb which will round it off to 3 stone in total since May. And BMI of i think 22 - now not using food focus but continuing on roughly the same foods etc

coffeekaren That is amazing. You must feel so pleased with yourself. Well done.

coffeekaren · 09/10/2010 19:09

Thanks FoundWanting - i am quietly pleased - this is my first ever proper diet at 40ish - as i had resigned myself to always being the little one who is very chubby (polite way of saying it) with very big boobies. I was very low for a long time after DS2 who has long term health probs and my confidence was rock bottom. But in May I had a notion to give it a go and as a result my confidence is slowly coming back and for the first time in really 15 years am enjoying buying clothes and letting myself be in photos. But thanks again FoundWanting.

FoundWanting · 09/10/2010 20:44

So pleased for you. I was always a 'big' girl but had plenty of confidence. After 3 babies and approaching 40, that had started to slip. I started WW to encourage my sister who was about 6 stone overweight, but never having dieted properly before, I didn't expect too much.

In the past, I was happy if I got down to a size 14, but once I got into eating differently I just kept going. At my lightest I was 9st 6lbs but I did look a bit gaunt. Now I'm a comfortable size 12 and love the fact that I can shop anywhere, just about everything I like suits me, and I've got so much more energy. I'd still like to get back to under 10 stone but that's really just a numbers thing - 9st 13lbs would be fineGrin.

coffeekaren · 10/10/2010 20:25

FoundWanting it is the shopping and engery which is one of my biggest motivators and really the confidence thing. As i am fairly short i think the late 8s will be just fine - will be a 10 - 12. Well done also and how is your sister doing? I think also i have been surprised that i can actually loose weight which sounds bonkers but when i found i could do it i kept going. Now in the stage of maintaining and loosing less and as my eating habits have completely changed as taking up swimming etc it is fairly straightforward. That and the major issue that i have no clothes as dp kindly took most of my old clothes to a charity shop and now slowly building up my wardrope.

FoundWanting · 10/10/2010 21:00

Yes, that's it! It suddenly hits you that you can do it.

Size 10/12 is lovely, isn't it? No shops out of boundsGrin.

DH took enormous pleasure in going through my wardrobe going, "Too big. Too frumpy. Shapeless." etc. etc Although we met when I was big, he loves the body-confidence I have gained and that now I love to dress up because I know I look good.

Listen to me bragging - must be the wine.Blush

I've got two fantastic dresses for Christmas/New Year. My favourite is dark blue, one-shouldered, full-length, slaahed to mid-thigh. I feel like a screen siren in it.

Pasted the list without commenting.Hmm

So, I've put on 3lbs since I last weighed. Stood on the wii fit this morning in my undies so that DCs could have a good laugh. Where did that come from? On the plus side, it tells me I'm 25 - ha!

We've got our first dressy Christmas 'do' on the 21st December. I am going to start something on Monday. Any ideas? Bread has got to go, but can I live without carbs when it is so cold? If I start properly on Monday, that will give me 7 weeks to lose 7lbs. Do-able, I know, if only I can kick-start my weight-loss somehow. (Notice how I have casually abandoned my original target, I just want to be under 10 stone now).

Anyway, if I start a new thread on 1st November, are any of you going to come with me? And what should we use for a title?

By the way, nice to have you back mmmwine.

Belle03 · 27/10/2010 10:29

I'm with you!
I'm struggling terribly & have been good, am wondering if it's due to my contraceptive implant- haven't lost much since having that put in Hmm
I need less carbs to get rid of the bloat & more exercise & I think we all need each other! Not sure about new thread name will get thinking
Wanting I feel the same, it's so hard to not eat carbs when it's cold, what are you trying?
Lurking/devastated are you still around?? how's things?

FoundWanting · 27/10/2010 10:39

Hello, Belle. Don't know about the implant, I'm afraid. What does your GP say?

I don't know what to do. WW has worked for me in the past, but now I can't be arsed to count points. Same with Atkins, worked really well in the short-term, but it is so restrictive.

I'm definitely going to stop eating bread, and going to try to drink more water. As for exercise, I walk miles when DCs are at school (no choice), but nothing else.
