23 weeks til Xmas - who'll join me in a LBD challenge?

buttonmoon78 · 17/07/2010 11:15

I bought some wonderful red shoes a couple of weeks ago and they'd look fab with a LBD. The trouble is I wouldn't look so good in one! I really want to wear them at Christmas so would love to look good in a LBD by then. I'm thinking that a couple of stones would be a good place to begin.

So, my plan is...
I've already given up alcohol (a short term thing as I love it) on the basis that cutting down makes me miserable - I find it easier to have none than some and then stop!
In September, my youngest starts nursery so will be joining a gym.
I WILL do my pilates dvd & use my gym ball more.
I WILL start running again.

Any other chubby ones who fancy joining me? The more the merrier

Altogether now... jingle bells, jingle bells

Well done everyone

As I have only done it for a couple of days I was expecting only a miniscule loss, but was quite impressed with mine! I guess maybe the gym does help after all, I will just have to put up with being the red faced, ugly, sweaty one!haha

I am never going to get into a LBD at this rate. After three days of hectic work, my dh bought us all a Chinese takeaway as a thankyou. Paul McKenna said you could eat anything so I did.

ln1981 · 30/07/2010 22:43

HI guys. Hope you all have had a lovely few days.
Only managed to lose 1 lb this week despite going for a wee walk every day with the kids and spending all yesterday in the garden, and then playing golf!!
Was also v. bad today as it was ds2's birthday today, and MIL always does a 'birthday tea', ie like the kind of food you would have at a birthday party! So so good, but so so bad for me-always eat far too much when its just spread out like that-am still feeling rather bloated atm in fact!

Well done to everyone who lost, and good luck for the next week.

rosieposey · 31/07/2010 08:35

Hello, can i join? I tried weight watchers a few weeks ago and failed miserably (like usual) but cant afford to go to meetings at the moment anyway. You seem like a nice friendly bunch and it would be nice to have diet buddies.

Im starting on Monday and today i will read right through this thread so far for some inspiration. I have about 6/7 stone to lose so loads and loads and loads but i have to start somewhere and Christmas seems like a nice goal - realistically i would like to be 3 stones lighter by them, i hope thats possible.

Belle03 · 31/07/2010 10:23

Hi rosieposey I feel the same as you- it's great to feel we're all spurring each other on. Hope you get some inspiration from the thread

MostlyLurking · 31/07/2010 11:30

Welcome rosie. I too am glad that this is a Christmas challenge because like Swans I had chinese last night and my motivation is wavering. Will be making lentil soup later and hopefully out for a long walk. I am amazed at how easily I can slip back into old habits when I was feeling so positive earlier in the week .

rosieposey · 31/07/2010 14:16

Thanks for the welcome Some good losses on the thread already!

Christmas seems so far away but i know from experience that it will come around really quickly.

Gahhh im going to have to get brave and post my weight up when i start. The weekends are my worst time tbh so next weekend will be a challenge. I have booked some hypnotherapy in the next couple of weeks (will try and visualise myself slim) so i hope that will help along with you ladies on this thread. It seems like such a lot to lose but im going to try and take it one stone at a time.

Lol @ Swans - i think you can eat anything as long as its less than what you used to eat, youve got to have the odd treat otherwise falling off the wagon becomes a distinct possibility.

DottyDot · 31/07/2010 18:07

Hi Rosie! My day's not going too badly today - we've been out at a friend's house for the afternoon at a little party-type thing - lots of pizza, biscuits and stuff around but I stuck to grapes and crisps which wasn't too bad.

Still not been brave enough to get on the bike yet - maybe after another couple of lbs have disappeared...

And no water today!! Will go and pour some now

ln1981 · 31/07/2010 20:15

hello rosie.

DottyDot-you clearly hae very good willpower

I had a mountain of sandwiches and crisps and dip (always my downfall!). Put a buffet in front of me and I will eat it!

Not done anything too strenuous today-a walk into town to get school shoes for ds1 and dd. They only have a couple of weeks left of the hols, and I have been putting it of for a while now. I am now £100 lighter after getting the shoes and otehr school related stuff!

I have been quite good food-wise though. I must drink more water however, thank you dottydot for the reminder!

CheapHawaiian · 31/07/2010 20:23

Well done everyone.

I haven't weighed this week as I haven't been able to get on the wii. My own fault - I banned it!

Will weigh tomorrow if I can face it. Wish DH would go back to work, or at least stop buying/cooking such delicious, fattening stuff.

Have had a couple of good walks, but far too many calories.

DottyDot · 01/08/2010 10:20

honestly I tend to have no willpower at all - but I'm trying to see my eating habits as an addiction, and one I can beat, rather than just me being naughty, if that makes sense?! Seeing it as something I have to work at every day to beat is helping, bizarrely...

And against all advice ever written anywhere, I'm weighing myself every morning. It fluctuates up and down, so I'm not taking too much notice of the number, but it's helping as a reminder at the start of each day of what I've got to do.

OK, OK, lock me up now...

Belle03 · 01/08/2010 18:18

Crap. Had awful food day yesterday, had white bread toast then no lunch, got in at 4pm & ate bread again AAAHH!!
Just to top it off DP had done homemade pizza for tea & i bloody ate that as well!
Thing is, I feel so cross with myself & I really want to have willpower.
Also feeling crap coz I went to buy a swimsuit for my hols & couldn't find 1 to accomodate huge norks. Will wear the tent instead

Belle03 · 01/08/2010 18:18

Meant to add I did get up this morning & go for a run

rosieposey · 01/08/2010 20:31

Ok i kind of started today and am hungry this evening! Going to make a nice oxo and sip it like soup.

Belle, dont worry i think everybody has an off day, the important thing is to get back on the wagon. Well done for the run

Dotty - you are doing great too, i am the same wrt food addiction, i bloody love it far too much but i need to consume alot less of it.

Cheaphawaiian - hope your weigh in went well - sorry if i forgot anyone.

Im going to repost the stats and put myself on if thats ok (deep breath) I have lots to lose but given that i made a start today hopefully this is the start of something good. I too weigh every morning, i find its been helpful in reining in any additional weight because i dont want to get any heavier. I will try and not do it now ive started my diet but i cant promise

yeah weekends are not good for me either - or holidays and I've got 2 weeks off starting this Friday! Will be able to weigh in this Friday but then will miss a week (and then be mortified the week after when the number sky rockets.... )

rosieposey · 02/08/2010 14:11

I dont know how i will manage at weekends as its always the time that i have treats!

Still going strong today although i couldnt get to sleep last night as i was so hungry. Hungry today as well but im hoping that my tummy will shrink and i will get used to eating alot less.

My weigh in is on Sunday but maybe i should go Friday to Friday too as it allows for the odd slip up at the weekend.

DottyDot · 02/08/2010 17:35

Woohoo - got on the bike!! Big step for me as I always think I'm way to big to be seen cycling, but I did a quick 2 mile cycle down the back streets and it was great - I always feel so good after a bike ride so must do it more often!

dillinger · 03/08/2010 09:29

Good for you Dotty I didnt run for weeks after my first 5k in june - I felt v self conscious and lost my nerve. Started going out again last week and feel so much better for it. Keep it up!

Didnt run or do that dvd last night (I know Im avoiding it, I couldnt face it! Aargh the crunches) Went for a run this morning though, got further than last time before I had to walk for a minute, its good when you start to notice that you are progressing! I aim to do 5k non stop pronto, and then build on that.

Have taken measurements (arms, waist, hips and thighs, dont go there ) as muscle is more dense so weighs more than fat and I dont want the scales to discourage me once Im back up to speed again with the running.

buttonmoon78 · 03/08/2010 10:03

Well, everyone sounds like they're doing well! Am still poorly so not really up to counting calories. I'll pay for it Fri tho! Then only one week til our hols... And not even a whole lb off...

Oh. My. Word. My love handles have love handles. Caught sight of myself from an angle I'd not considered previously and it was nasty.

So even though I am feeling like hell on a bad day I'm back to the calorie counting. I'd like to think that I'll see a difference on Fri am but I'm not holding my breath.

We'll see...

aww - Button - don't be despondent - it's just a bad few days and you can start again - remember Christmas and long term goals. And this thread! You'll be fine - just keep going and try to imagine each day as a new one to conquer!

meanwhile I'm on a train back to Manchester from London and I'm STARVING... First time in the 3 years I've been commuting (I come down 1-2 days a week) that I've not bought any food or nibbles on the train! Home and dinner in an hour!
