23 weeks til Xmas - who'll join me in a LBD challenge?

buttonmoon78 · 17/07/2010 11:15

I bought some wonderful red shoes a couple of weeks ago and they'd look fab with a LBD. The trouble is I wouldn't look so good in one! I really want to wear them at Christmas so would love to look good in a LBD by then. I'm thinking that a couple of stones would be a good place to begin.

So, my plan is...
I've already given up alcohol (a short term thing as I love it) on the basis that cutting down makes me miserable - I find it easier to have none than some and then stop!
In September, my youngest starts nursery so will be joining a gym.
I WILL do my pilates dvd & use my gym ball more.
I WILL start running again.

Any other chubby ones who fancy joining me? The more the merrier

Altogether now... jingle bells, jingle bells

Definitely! And thank you for putting that song in my head just as I'm about to go to bed...

buttonmoon78 · 19/07/2010 21:39

Oh dear. Sorry.

I'm off to bed with the vain hope I'll be 2 stone lighter tomorrow...

Night!

DottyDot · 20/07/2010 17:55

woohoo - good day today (so far...)! Sticking to meals only - no snacking - hurrah! Now I just have to master the art of not raiding the sweet tin once ds's are in bed and I'll be sorted..!

buttonmoon78 · 20/07/2010 20:53

Well done Dotty! Not a bad day here either here at Moon Towers.

OP posts:
DottyDot · 20/07/2010 21:43

good for you Button..!

sweet tin is in tact and today's the first day in living memory I haven't had anything naughty at all...

dickyduckydido · 20/07/2010 22:06

I was doing really well until my home made veg and tomato pasta sauce suddenly acquired chorizo and garlic bread miraculously put itself in the oven....

On the plus side, no snacking or stealing DCs leftovers!

enjoysthesunshine · 21/07/2010 07:56

I am feeling very virtuous. Made a big batch of fudge for the teachers last night and didn't even lick the spoon!!! I thought hard about my favourite jeans that I want to wear come Autumn and strangely enough it worked.

Then I managed to avoid having something sweet with my evening cuppa by doing my nails - so now I am enjoying my very pretty nails too!

not sure how long this sort of will power will last. School holidays start tomorrow.....

Mommy2BubbanHun · 21/07/2010 08:13

Can I join you?

I think I've got about 10lbs to lose to get to my ideal weight (9st 9lbs). It may not sound a lot but I know from past experience that the summer holidays are danger time for me. Not walking 5 miles a day on the school run and kiddies' treats clogging up the house!

Not too worried about losing over the holidays, so long as I don't gain like last year (over a stone - sob). Then, hopefully, I'll be able to whittle the rest away between September and Christmas. It would be really good for me just to keep an eye on things for the next six weeks. Is that ok?

buttonmoon78 · 21/07/2010 14:32

Whatever you want is fine with us - we're a very forgiving bunch. Well I am anyway! Welcome aboard. Cut and paste yourself into our list and update on Fridays (if you want to - would you rather wait and post your WIs after the hols?

OP posts:
buttonmoon78 · 21/07/2010 16:29

What's on the menu tonight then ladies? We're having chilli prawn pasta (again). DD2 went for an impromtu tea with friends on Monday night and was devastated to miss it so by popular request we're having it tonight. Still no wine though. Am beginning to really miss it!

Also, am planning a little pilates sesh tonight. Am feeling in the zone...

OP posts:
AlCrowley · 21/07/2010 16:44

Spag bol with hidden carrots and courgette for us tonight. Mine will be more sauce than pasta, although I am allowing myself a sprinkling of cheese after restraining myself at the chocolate vending machine while taking DS swimming this afternoon.

Then planning at least a 2.5k run (possibly 5k if I can manage it) and my toning DVD when the children are in bed.

Really tempted with a sneaky midweek weigh in at the moment. My official WW day is Monday but I really want to know how I'm doing.

buttonmoon78 · 21/07/2010 17:06

I think that a sneaky WI is no big deal. In fact I did one this am! I'm of the opinion that if you know how you're doing then there can be two benefits:

  1. it can spur you on to better efforts, seeing results and all that jazz
  2. if you have a sneaky one and then at your official WI the news is not great, if you're sneaky one was ok then it's like a little consolation.

Well done though - no choc and plenty of exercise?

OP posts:
enjoysthesunshine · 21/07/2010 17:25

Wow AlCrowley I am impressed by your jogging and toning. I have to work at the exercise side of things. My mind is keen but it ain't happening. Have to find time/energy between cooking/cleaning and breastfeeding these days. Trying to cook and clean energetically and trot up and down to school. Kids on the trampoline at moment. I had a go at it myself the other week and nearly died. I don't know how they can jump for so long? (and not wet their knickers )

Didn't manage to avoid delicious piece of fudge this afternoon. Still, I remind myself I am trying to balance weight loss with eating like a normal person. And normal people are entitled to the odd piece of fudge right?

buttonmoon78 · 21/07/2010 18:35

Indeed they are sunshine. That's why I'm aiming for 2 stone over the next 4 months. After all, if I ate celery for 4 months I'd be giving Paris Hilton a run for her money (really? no) but I don't want to get it off then see it all pile back on again. I'm fat because I love food so a life with no nice food in it is no life at all. I just need to moderate things a bit!

I have a small pack of buttons waiting in the fridge as we speak!

OP posts:
DottyDot · 21/07/2010 19:22

Blimey charlie - another good day for me..!

Had crispbreads with cheese for lunch, with some melon, then just had chicken casserole with rice for tea, so not too bad.

No snacking so far and have even had a few glasses of water

I so don't do healthy living!

But this is the time to start - although have just started my period today (TMI??!) so feel the size of a large barn... Hoping by next week I'll feel slim and waif-like

buttonmoon78 · 21/07/2010 20:48

No such thing as TMI here. While we're at it, had a smear test today. Feel like I've been hoofed in the belly. Hence chocolate buttons in the fridge!

OP posts:
AlCrowley · 21/07/2010 21:06

I had a smear the week before last. Ended up on my side with my bum facing the nurse as she couldn't find my cervix any other way. Then it hurt and she took ages. THEN she said she wasn't sure she'd got enough and I might need to go back If it was half as bad, you deserve the buttons buttonmoon .

No run tonight, I'm so tired I could go to bed right now... Stuck within my points today though which is an achievement since they reduced them when DD started weaning.

Hello all can i join - tried to do the july 8lb challenge but started mid way through. Never watched what i eat and drink before and never weighed myself since DS2 who is now 4 - got a shock early June and i was nearly 12 stone. Using food focus and have discovered skinny cow ice cream and swimming and to my dismay legs bums and tums which kills me - so hope to get to my ideal weight by christmas and treat myself to a lovely new boden dress - feeling better already since june which has motivated me - weighed myself last friday and so here is hoping for a little more lost

Evening all. Not much to report today - did ok but not brilliant.

Also, found out DH is moving to a new project next week and will now be away from home 3 nights a week - there goes my exercise time...
