23 weeks til Xmas - who'll join me in a LBD challenge?

buttonmoon78 · 17/07/2010 11:15

I bought some wonderful red shoes a couple of weeks ago and they'd look fab with a LBD. The trouble is I wouldn't look so good in one! I really want to wear them at Christmas so would love to look good in a LBD by then. I'm thinking that a couple of stones would be a good place to begin.

So, my plan is...
I've already given up alcohol (a short term thing as I love it) on the basis that cutting down makes me miserable - I find it easier to have none than some and then stop!
In September, my youngest starts nursery so will be joining a gym.
I WILL do my pilates dvd & use my gym ball more.
I WILL start running again.

Any other chubby ones who fancy joining me? The more the merrier

Altogether now... jingle bells, jingle bells

Is it normal to feel a bit unusual after a week of giving up bread, potatoes and cakes? A bit tired and not quite 'with it'?

I think I'm having notions for carbs, especially for something sweet and fruit is not satisfying the craving.

Anyway, I am all achy, eating bucket loads of fruit and veg and have no idea how much I weigh as the scales keep reading oddly - was 80k clothed and 83.7 unclothed so put on 3.7k in a minute .

You are all doing really well.

AlCrowley · 28/07/2010 21:56

Just popping in to say "see you in a fortnight" Am off on holiday in the morning.

Keep your fingers crossed for me that I don't put on too much weight while away!

DottyDot · 28/07/2010 22:30

Swans - I tend to feel crabby, obnoxious and have a cracking headache when I first cut out all the crap Lasts a few days and then life gets back to 'normal'....

Aaaarrggghhh - have been bad tonight - went to the pictures and shared a small sweet popcorn with dp. Didn't need it, wasn't hungry, but there it was...

I'll pay for it on Friday on those scales

No snacking at all yesterday, wasn't even tempted- what's happened to me??? Off for a run again tonight & am really looking forward to it

Rugbylovingmum · 29/07/2010 09:17

Hi all,

I've just added myself to the list. It's only 9am and I'm already craving a cinnamon pastry . I find that this first day of healthy eating is the hardest as I just keep thinking I could just have a pastry now and start my diet tomorrow. I have stuck a pic of DD on my desktop to remind myself I don't want to set her a bad example or be too unfit to keep up with her. I CAN break these bad habits! Going to do first run from the couch potato to 5k podcasts tonight - we've just moved house and our new estate has loads of 'curtain twitchers' so at least I'll be providing the neighbours with some entertainment .

Wow - just adding my name to the list makes me feel I'm on my way . Here's to a new LBD for xmas!

dillinger · 29/07/2010 09:44

Its amazing what this can do by way of support.

My 30 day shred dvd came yesterday so I had my first go with that this morning, my legs were wobbly afterwards, arms aching, but its all good. Am crap at crunches though, I have no co-ordination!

Looking forward to running later tonight or first thing tomorrow.

SwansEatQuince · 29/07/2010 10:08

I love this thread.

Today will be crazy busy as we are going to gather the hay. I am doing the bailing.

I took some bread last night as the craving was so strong but am not going to beat myself up although the bloating returned almost instantly. I have made a monster bowl of mixed fruit salad for lunchtime and gallons of water.

Good luck today everyone!

buttonmoon78 · 29/07/2010 17:33

I feel really grim. Had a smear test last week and have ended up with an infection so now on 2 courses of antibiotics. Pharmacist said 'NO alcohol' and I was about to have a tantrum when I remembered I've given up! I think it made her day...

Pills have made me feel really icky. They don't normally and I'm because it's a bit like morning sickness - if I eat I feel better.

OP posts:
DottyDot · 29/07/2010 19:44

sorry to hear about that Button I've not been for a smear for 23 years after my first and only one when I was 18 - way too traumatic to go back....

feeling a bit crap today - haven't eaten anything particularly naughty but I still feel overfull and a bit rubbish. Hmm - probably pre-Friday weigh in nerves

enjoysthesunshine · 29/07/2010 21:39

Poor you Button, I hope the yuck wears off soon.

Dillinger, I'm struggling to remember what crunches are! God, has it been THAT long since I did any sort of aerobics

I think that I have forgotten what a "normal" portion of anything is. I am trying not to snack between meals but then am too hungry at mealtimes and am finding that I am serving myself "just a little bit more"....not good, even if it is fairly virtuous food.

I think I'll try the 5 small meals approach next week - actually have something other than a cuppa for morning tea and afternoon tea and see if it helps.

Dotty, I too am nervous about tomorrow. I have walked and walked this week. Just makes my hips ache thinking about it.

buttonmoon78 · 30/07/2010 00:07

I know this is a confused face but it bears a stricking resemblance to mine at the moment, trying not to be sick!

I know I should go to bed to get better but every time I lie down I feel worse - like I'm drunk. Perhaps that's why she said no alcohol? Perhaps because you already feel tanked up? Bleurgh.

Not holding out much hope for tomorrow - have troughed all day. Maybe things will be better next week when I've got used to the pills.

OP posts:
buttonmoon78 · 30/07/2010 07:06

Well, it's not earth shattering but it's all in the right direction & at the moment even small things put a smile on my face!

Heading in the right direction although I am dubious about whether it is actually right. My scales gave me about three different amounts, this one felt about right!

MostlyLurking · 30/07/2010 08:33

Morning everyone and well done on your losses.

Button, hope you feel better soon, sounds rotten.

Dotty, how did you manage 4lbs .

Weigh in will have to be later today for me if I can be bothered to drive 30 minutes to my nearest Boots. So on that note, can anyone recommend scales around the £20-30 mark? Not holding out too much hope this week as I have done little exercise and it was my birthday and of course I was obliged to drink my body weight in wine .

buttonmoon78 · 30/07/2010 08:48

ML - I got some v nice slimline black glass ones from argos - I think they were about £15 with a reduction. Worth every penny. You know when you try to catch these digital ones out (no? only me?!) they get it right every time.

BTW, losses are cumulative. Though, am enjoying the thought of someone looking at this thread in a few months and going 'bugger me, how did you manage to lose 2stone? '

Well done ladies - let's keep it up!

Morning all, congratulations on the weight loses . Well I did quite well all day then it all went wrong in the evening. I was going to go out for a run while DP put DD to bed but he had to drive to the office to drop some papers off (over an hour away - grr) and by the time he got back - with a packet of giant buttons to 'make up for it' - I couldn't be bothered . PIL are coming over this evening so I'll have to go for a run on Saturday instead.

mostlylurking don't forget I'm about 4 stone heavier than most people on this thread, so me losing 4lbs is probably equivalent to someone else losing 0.5lb! The weight I'd love to get to by Spring is still 2 stone heavier than most people now!!

Water's helping a lot - just drinking tons of it which helps me to feel full...

buttonmoon78 · 30/07/2010 13:55

I agree. Drinking more is a big thing. I try to drink lots more water and peppermint tea too.

I know what you mean Dotty - my 'ideal' is significantly more than most people's starting weight! Do you also go when those skinny minnie celebs say they've lost 7-10lbs and dropped a dress size? We're talking a good 21lbs per dress size for me!
