23 weeks til Xmas - who'll join me in a LBD challenge?

buttonmoon78 · 17/07/2010 11:15

I bought some wonderful red shoes a couple of weeks ago and they'd look fab with a LBD. The trouble is I wouldn't look so good in one! I really want to wear them at Christmas so would love to look good in a LBD by then. I'm thinking that a couple of stones would be a good place to begin.

So, my plan is...
I've already given up alcohol (a short term thing as I love it) on the basis that cutting down makes me miserable - I find it easier to have none than some and then stop!
In September, my youngest starts nursery so will be joining a gym.
I WILL do my pilates dvd & use my gym ball more.
I WILL start running again.

Any other chubby ones who fancy joining me? The more the merrier

Altogether now... jingle bells, jingle bells

Don't sweat it. Am currently on my millionth button. Back on the wagon again tomorrow!

Please can I join you? my weight seems to have been creeping up gradually & it's really peeing me off, am feeling down & have no energy.
I'd decided to weigh myself on a friday as well so my 1st weigh in for last Fri was 10st 13lb (I'm 5ft 4in)I want to get to 9st & feel energetic
Plan is: no white bread of white pasta (worked really well for me before), to get running/exercising again, no alcohol on school night.
Any tips for developing willpower? I seem crap when I'm at home & pick at things

MostlyLurking · 27/07/2010 08:53

Can I be in your gang as well?

Belle, you have inspired me to join with your no wine on a school night, roll on the next six weeks . On a more serious note, your weight and height are exactly the same as mine. I would love to be 9 stone but not sure if that is realistic as I cannot remember ever being that weight.

SwansEatQuince · 27/07/2010 09:05

I ache today after 6 1/2 hours of double digging, shifting big shrubs and moving gravel.
Evening meal was Quorn stew and a yoghurt. Gallons of water.

Willpower - just do not see the offending treat- don't look at it or don't buy them. They are gone in about two seconds but it takes so much longer to burn it off. Think about the LBD.

More digging today.

Belle03 · 27/07/2010 09:28

Mostly lurking- Will try to class the next 6 weeks as school nights! honest!
Please keep posting- I need someone in same boat as me. Do you have enormous boobs? If I was a b/c cup I'd only be 8 stone!!

MostlyLurking · 27/07/2010 09:38

Sorry Belle, pretty average on the norkage front, wouldn't make an iota of difference to my weight .

Seriously though, this is my first proper attempt to lose the lard and seeing you post exactly the same weight/height as me prompted me to join and I need motivation and a bit of hand holding.

buttonmoon78 · 27/07/2010 09:44

Welcome! I'm feeling better after my wobble last night so back on the wagon big time! I'm jealous of your hard work Swans - you'll have lovely arms by the end of the summer!

OP posts:
Belle03 · 27/07/2010 09:47

mostly lurking Am planning to go for my first run for about 2 yrs tonight, I used to run 3 times a week religiously after having my dd 4 years ago & the weight fell off & I felt fantastic, so full of energy. Are you planning to do any exercise? it'll really help get you motivated

MostlyLurking · 27/07/2010 09:51

I am totally in awe of Swans digging yesterday and agree with Buttons about toned arms (ponders finding an allotment).

Definitely not a runner although have started walking a lot recently which I plan to increase over the summer holidays. I think it's all a question of getting organised, route planning, ipod sorted, that kind of thing. I have the world's worst pedometer, just have to look at it and it adds 25 steps but I would like to have an idea of how far I have walked etc.

SwansEatQuince · 27/07/2010 10:50

I have a bodyprofile like him. Thin arms but identical body.

Feel much better after avoiding bread and cakes.

Am away to strim waist high dockens and nettles and hope the weather holds.

How many calories in 2 paracetamol?

buttonmoon78 · 27/07/2010 11:35

pmsl! He even has a spade!

All goin well here. Stocked up on fruit, back on special k diet today to help kick start things.

Hello Ladyhop! Nice to have someone in the 13s with me...

OP posts:
dillinger · 27/07/2010 12:53

Hello everyone, hope you're all feeling motivated

One thing that puts me off eating bad stuff is once I realise just how much work it takes to burn off the calories you've just eaten. That piece of cake just isnt worth it when I know Id have to run 3 miles just to get back to where I was before I ate it!

Not doing too badly today, took the children to a deli down the road where I bought a beansprout salad thing for lunch, the walk was about half an hour and Ive just done 20 mins fast walking on the treadmill.

Desperate to run outside tomorrow morning but each morning I wake up and feel dread. I know once I start running I have the biggest grin on my face, and when I get in afterwards it feels like I could manage anything all day. Its just getting out the sodding door thats the problem.

ln1981 · 27/07/2010 14:30

Hello everyone.

Disappeared for the weekend- mixture of migraines and golf, but am ready for some hard work this week.
Am hoping to do half an hour of exercise 2-3 days a week to start with and see how i get on.

Before we moved house (which is now over 6weeks ago!) i exercised nearly everyday, as well as doing a 3mile walk 3/4 days a week. Have had a break as I had stopped losing weight, though im now more determined than ever!

Am about to take kiddies out for a wee wander just to get some fresh air, and see if ds2 will have a short nap (he gets up at stupid o'clock).

Hope everyone is ok.

buttonmoon78 · 27/07/2010 18:27

Special k diet was fine today. Took kids to McD's for tea but stuck to reasonably ok choices and am still within my calories for the day on food focus. So am quite pleased really!

Planning to do my dvd tonight once the grotbags are in bed.

Also - have made appointment to join the gym tomorrow ready to start in September. Feel good about that too!

I once had a WW leader who got a whole load of common fall off the wagon foods and then weighed out the amount of fat in each in lard. Somehow things seemed less appealing then! Must start visualising that again...

CheapHawaiian · 27/07/2010 19:41

Hi everyone. Hope you are all doing well.

Well, four days in to the holidays, and it is a nightmare. Without the two and a half mile walk that is my school run, I feel so sluggish. DCS spend all morning munching countless slices of toast, and it has been picnic-BBQ-picnic-takeaway-picnic-restaurant.

HELP!!

Button: What is the Special K diet?

buttonmoon78 · 27/07/2010 20:21

Bowl of special k for breakfast, another for lunch and 'normal' tea. I don't buy special k really, just use a cereal or own brand and I have a little bit more than the recommended amount! I also add strawberries or whatever is on offer. According to kelloggs you are meant to have fruit or special k bars for snacks but I stick to fruit or something else that's about 100 cals - I'd never waste money on special k stuff!

As long as you eat enough low cal stuff you really don't get hungry and I find it's a good way of getting 5 a day in.

OP posts:
CheapHawaiian · 27/07/2010 21:21

Thanks Button. I'm doing a shop tomorrow, hopefully without little ones in tow, and will stock up on healthier stuff. DH has been shopping for the last couple of weeks and he buys so much rubbish it's untrue. I should save a bit of money as well!

Also going to make more effort to get active in the mornings. At least it's cooler here now so not such hard work to move around.

dillinger · 28/07/2010 08:23

Get me! I got up at 6.35 and went for a run at 6.45. Granted I didnt run for the entire 25 mins I was out but I dont allow myself to walk for longer than 30 secs to a minute or so. Then I got home, showered and had a piece of granary toast with a boiled egg and 3 cherry tomatoes!

Hope everyone has a good day today.

Rugbylovingmum · 28/07/2010 08:59

Hi all,

can I join in please. I'm so so so sick of being overweight and I'd love to lose some weight before xmas. DD is 9 months old and I've just stopped bfing so DP can do bedtimes and I've no excuse for not going for a run in the evening - I am always saying I don't have time . I just seem to have been overweight for so long I can hardly believe I can lose the weight so getting some support on here will be great. I have 3.5 stones to lose which is scary.

My tasks for today are:

  1. put my couch potato to 5k podcasts on my ipod ready to start running tomorrow
  2. weigh myself so I know where I'm starting
  3. get online and buy a new sports bra as my old one is VERY tight.

Rugbylovingmum (5'4", ideal 10st): 13st 9lbs (ish, will check my weight today)

twolittlemonkeys · 28/07/2010 09:09

Lost a lb since I weighted myself last week. Got to do some exercise as well as watching what I eat, but hard to do so when I have kids at home all day. Come September it ought to be a bit easier to fit in some exercise. I've been really trying to reduce what I eat but evenings are my weak point - I just want to crash on the sofa with a bowl of brownies and ice cream

Welcome to rugbylovingmum
Can't work out how to add myself to the list above- will have another go later!
Feel really virtuous today- started my running program last night- lots of walking & running. I felt fantastic afterwards, can't remember the last time I felt full of beans at 10.00 at night. Still feel fab this morning & I want this feeling to stay!
dillinger I'm going to try & remember about treats being represented as lard, makes me want to heave just thinking about it
Have a good day everyone
