23 weeks til Xmas - who'll join me in a LBD challenge?

buttonmoon78 · 17/07/2010 11:15

I bought some wonderful red shoes a couple of weeks ago and they'd look fab with a LBD. The trouble is I wouldn't look so good in one! I really want to wear them at Christmas so would love to look good in a LBD by then. I'm thinking that a couple of stones would be a good place to begin.

So, my plan is...
I've already given up alcohol (a short term thing as I love it) on the basis that cutting down makes me miserable - I find it easier to have none than some and then stop!
In September, my youngest starts nursery so will be joining a gym.
I WILL do my pilates dvd & use my gym ball more.
I WILL start running again.

Any other chubby ones who fancy joining me? The more the merrier

Altogether now... jingle bells, jingle bells

eek - so it's the weekend and full of temptation .

Have been positively angelic though so far - have made myself a big glass of ice water with lemon squeezed in it and am determined to drink tons of water this weekend - I'm seeing water as the answer to all my prayers...

And so far, although I made some scotch pancake mixture this morning for all of us, I've only had one myself!!

Buttonmoon - thought of you last night when I had 8 fruit pastilles in about 10 seconds...

DottyDot · 24/07/2010 22:35

Baaaaad day - after such a good start with the water and all...!

More fruit pastilles and a big meal at La Tasca. Sigh. One step forwards, three steps back...

coffeekaren · 25/07/2010 20:21

Hola all - dotty - hope it was nice at la tasca i do like that restruant. I am off on our hols on thursday so am going to weigh myself on wed and log it so to have it as a marker to myself when i get back on the 9th Aug. Off to spain and staying with spanish friends who eat fairly healthily but lots of it - my goal is to stay the same from the 28th July to the 10th august no loss no gain - but going to have to take it easy with the breakfast cakes, big lunches and very very late dinners - got my strategy but slightly worried will all go back to square one! and of course i do like a little cold lager (have stopped this and wine now for 3 months) but will limit to small glasses i think a day

buttonmoon78 · 25/07/2010 23:14

Evening all! Poor you dotty - I hate it when all your good work gets a bit sabotaged. Even if I'd have enjoyed the La Tasca too!

A good w/e I think - no seconds all w/e. And although I did have wine I really kept a handle on it so I'm quite proud really!

Funny moment tho... went out on the Solent in BiL's mum's DP's (!) boat. Fancied myself as a little Riviera chic yummy mummy. Then saw some real yummy mummy types looking fab in their tiny denim shorts etc. Deflated like a popped balloon! Hmm. Next year maybe!

Hi all can I join? Got to the point after last xmas where I truly noticed my weight (5'3" and 10st 11lb) and it was like an almighty kick up the arse. Anyway Im now 9st 9lb and whilst Id like to have acheived more by now at least its something. Id like to get to 9st as I was always around that weight before I had the children, depression etc.

I like to run but havent for 2 months now, Ive lost my nerve and get quite self conscious bordering on agoraphobic, really want to get back on it. Wanted to this morning but didnt so feeling pretty crap about that.

Best of luck everyone, and well done!

Hi Dillinger - of course, you're very welcome. You sound like you've had a tough time of it?

I ran for a while and loved it. I really enjoyed the feeling fo being able to run further each time (when I started it was walk run walk between lamp posts!). I find it hard to at the moment because dh works away so I've no one to look after dcs.

Anyway, welcome. I hope we can give you some confidence to get your mojo back.

SwansEatQuince · 26/07/2010 11:09

May I join you?

I am too ashamed to post my weight but my height is 5'5" and confidence is zero.
I have stopped eating bread, pasta and starchy foods plus anything with sugar in it (and subsequently feel mildly dreadful just now).

Would sheer physical work plus low carb burn off some of the excess weight? We have a month of very hard work coming up so there is little time to go walking or cycling.

Ideal weight would be 9 stone but this may be unrealistic.

buttonmoon78 · 26/07/2010 12:12

Hi Swans. Please don't feel embarrassed. Physical work is great because you'll get loads of toning done too.

Re your target - that would give you a BMI of just over 20. Why don't you start by aiming for your top end of the healthy weight range. I'd guess that to be somewhere like 10st10? Obviously, I have no idea how much you have to lose but even 7lbs at a time is a great, achievable target.

Post your weight if and when you're ready. There'll be no judgement here - just plenty of encouragement, good luck.

OP posts:
DottyDot · 26/07/2010 12:14

Swans - I know what you mean about posting your weight - but hey, mine's almost 3 stone heavier than anyone else's so try not to feel embarrassed and you don't have to.

I'd really like to get back on my bike - love cycling and find the weight comes off much easier, but at the moment I feel too embarrassed to get on it - have told myself I'll start cycling when I lose half a stone, but that's a bit daft really and I know it, just can't bring myself to get on the bike...

Hello all, can I join your gang. I set today as my date to lose my excess weight. Button kidly replied to my thread and invited me. I had my son 16 months ago and it is time this weight was gone.. I could use some support as I really am struggling to avoid the junk

I really want to lose 2 stone by christmas..

thislittlesisterlola · 26/07/2010 14:53

Hi all could I join you? Im looking to lose this baby weight and would love to look like me again by xmas- needed to lose a bit before being pg tbh but i shall glaze over that! Havent weighed myself yet i shall this afternoon. My aim is buy some gorgeous clothes that fit for wearing over the xmas period and winter. I am 5'6" and im guessing 10st 8 and i want to 9st ish. I will report back once weighed to shamefully put my correct current weight.

AlCrowley · 26/07/2010 15:01

Welcome to all the newbies.

It's my official WW weigh in day today and I've only lost 0.1kgs but that has given me my 7+ star so I've now lost a whole stone since I started and am just under 10 stone ready for my holiday.

Hoping to be good-ish on holiday as I don't want to gain too much while I'm away. Already got another stone and a half to lose when we get back so I don't want to add too much on top of that!

dillinger · 26/07/2010 16:29

Thanks any help to find my running mojo again much appreciated lol

Havent done too badly today so far though I did have a wagon wheel earlier Crap thing is it wasnt that nice.

Went on the treadmill aiming to do about 30 mins, gave up after 12.... just reinforces how much I farking hate trying to run on that thing and should be outside.

I also get a bit confused with trying to lose weight and running - ideally I dont want carbs but then surely theyre needed for energy? Then if I do get back to running the weighing confuses me with muscle weighing more than fat anyway. I dont know if I should be avoiding carbs (which bloat me to hell anyway) and walking more as exercise, or eating carbs and running. Can I avoid carbs and run or is it unadvisable??

dillinger · 26/07/2010 16:31

*inadvisable

buttonmoon78 · 26/07/2010 18:09

I'd say it was inadvisable - you need slow release carbs for energy. Do all carbs affect you or just bread / pasta? What about rice or other grains like quinoa? I'm always really reluctant to cut out a food group entirely.

Welcome to all new ones. Has anyone done this sort of thing before? Does anyone ever impose a limit? I'd rather not but I didn't know if there was some sort of thread etiquette!

OP posts:
dillinger · 26/07/2010 19:44

Id say white bread and potatoes bloat me the worst, possibly rice too. I should prob keep note of anything I notice and go from there. I sometimes have a piece of granary toast for breakfast and that seems fine, but any sandwiches, pasta etc later in the day are a real no no, I bloat and slump.

Cant help you with thread etiquette Im afraid

Dillinger - I have IBS which flares up from time to time. It's worth keeping a food diary for a few weeks. I find that different things can affect me sometimes more often than others, and that some things can affect me more at different points of the day. Personally, I find that wholegrain / granary affects me worse but I know that a friend of mine is the opposite.

DottyDot · 26/07/2010 21:12

Buttonmoon I think no limit or there'll be accusations of cliqueyness

Well, a semi OK day for me today. Had a handful (and I've got big hands ) of fruit gums after tea, but nothing else naughty and I think life without naughtyness wouldn't be any fun anyway

So, am hoping that generally being good and drinking loads of water will mean a slow but steady loss

goldenbrowne · 26/07/2010 21:23

Hi everyone !
I'd love to join your group. I'm a mother of
five children and have struggled to lose the extra 3stone I have put on since having my last baby - 3yrs ago !!.

I would love the extra support of others in the same boat as me

I've had a disappointing day. Cake at lunchtime and I've got the munchies now but I'm working hard at avoiding giving in. To be honest, I'm feeling bloated and yucky because (avert eyes if tmi) I'm constipated.... I'm drinking tons of water, eating fruit and vege so can't be sure why. Thinking it might be tea. Is that possible? I have been drinking more than usual this last week to avoid snacking.

buttonmoon78 · 26/07/2010 22:30

I never heard of tea causing constipation!

Had a crappy day. Just had a big row with (d)h over some non issue. Am currently hitting ds's milkybar buttons with a vengeance.

Shitty really

I will add my weight on tomorrow when I have been on some scales as my ones are not working... Want to get to 9 stone though and think I am 11+..

I didn't get a chance to eat dinner tonight as i started a new job so that is a plus but have drunk 1/2 a bottle of wine which is a huge negative...

where did my bloody will power go....
