23 weeks til Xmas - who'll join me in a LBD challenge?

buttonmoon78 · 17/07/2010 11:15

I bought some wonderful red shoes a couple of weeks ago and they'd look fab with a LBD. The trouble is I wouldn't look so good in one! I really want to wear them at Christmas so would love to look good in a LBD by then. I'm thinking that a couple of stones would be a good place to begin.

So, my plan is...
I've already given up alcohol (a short term thing as I love it) on the basis that cutting down makes me miserable - I find it easier to have none than some and then stop!
In September, my youngest starts nursery so will be joining a gym.
I WILL do my pilates dvd & use my gym ball more.
I WILL start running again.

Any other chubby ones who fancy joining me? The more the merrier

Altogether now... jingle bells, jingle bells

Morning all! I'm back and I'd love to say tanned and toned but we'll have to settle for the former. I'm still shaking my head in some amazement that after all the lovely french wine, cheese, bread etc I've consumed that I've actually lost (only 0.2lb I admit but it's still not on me!). Must be more calorie burning properties in lying in a hammock reading than I had realised!

Anyway, glad to see motivation's high, welcome to those who joined whilst I was away. Proper WI Friday, so am being good now.

Oh, and my gym induction's booked for first day of term - a week on Wed!

Good to see you back Button! Grin Great that you've lost as well - keeps the motivation going a bit...!

We've been away this weekend so I'm back on the fruit and water during the day until Friday - I find when I'm at work I can do fruit throughout the day and tons of water no problem - it's the weekends and holidays that are the killers - I don't seem to be able to drive the car without a large bag of Haribo within reach at all times... Hmm

buttonmoon78 · 31/08/2010 14:03

Oh, I know - those long journeys are a killer! DD1 wanted to put the clock to zero when we started so take pity on me - in the last 2 1/2 weeks we've done over 2.5k miles! Imagine all those sweets!

Just made a rice salad which was rather delish for lunch. Have 'this is the first day of the rest of my life' on constant loop in my head. Been to Tesco, did the biggest shop (ever) and resisted the temptation to get lots of naughty last week of hols treats. Got loads of fruit&veg, lots of good lean meat. So am ready for the off. Also got some nice new leggings and an exercise vest for the gym next week.

Bring it on Grin

Welcome back Button - brilliant loss and so motivated with it- hope your motivation spreads- I am toying with the idea of gym as well - just doing swimming and one class a week at the moment with the shred but i think variation will help keep me going.

MostlyLurking · 02/09/2010 09:37

Button, tell me about your rice salad please, could be just what I'm looking for in a work lunch.

Have been very good this week, scales say 11 1 this morning so I am pretty Smile.

buttonmoon78 · 02/09/2010 21:40

Cooked rice (obv), can of mixed beans in vinaigrette (Tesco) and a can of tuna. Simple, easy. Yum!

Not cutting and pasting as I have gained but lost iyswim. Down 3lbs this week Grin, so 11 stone exactly.

Never considered myself a yo yo dieter but can see this happening now. Really need some motivation to keep losing.

DottyDot · 03/09/2010 09:10

maybe we should do a big countdown in weeks (then days...) to Christmas.

It's now 16 weeks and one day until Christmas

Shock

I need to keep going - I've been here (at my current weight) so many times before - I need to get past it - this week feels really important to me... HELP!!!

MostlyLurking · 03/09/2010 09:13

16 weeksShock

DottyDot · 03/09/2010 09:54

I know....

The other thing I thought I'd do is try to add something extra or do something different each week - so this week has duely been assigned Smaller Portions Week Grin.

I'm getting the hang of eating less crap and I've addded more water into each day, but my portion sizes are still bordering on the ridiculous, so am going to try having smaller breakfasts and dinners (not too bad on lunches) each week....

coffeekaren · 03/09/2010 12:37

Well done mostlylurking and dotty great about the comments Smile. Well a 3lb loss ffor me too - quite amazed as working to a food focus loss of 1.5lb a week but think it is the extra exercise - also rather cuffed as now under 10stone and bmi of 26 - started in may with a bmi of 30.1 so am pleased managed to keep going and now enjoying the healthy sorry for rambling and drink loads of water dotty it does help.

coffeekaren · 04/09/2010 22:01

Dotty but that is the point you are less than in July - and it has been the holidays -and it is absolutely yonks until christmas and people are commenting about your loss.

cheaphawaiian · 05/09/2010 10:17

DottyDot and coffeekaren - fantastic losses you two. Well done.

Very last day of the holidays and I have stayed the same as the first day. Amazing. DH has been at home for more than half the time and he is the world's greatest diet saboteur, so I am feeling really pleased with myself.Grin

Back on the school run tomorrow which adds 4.5 miles of walking into my day. If I can whittle away 0.5lbs a week, I'll be at target by Christmas. If only I didn't have so many birthdays between now and then, it would be easy.

Hope you all have a good week.

MostlyLurking · 05/09/2010 10:47

Well, I have lost and gained and lost and gained.

11 1 today after a comfort fest last night, feeling very down atm. Start of new academic year tomorrow so I am seeing this as my new year iyswim. Will spend this evening planning my new regime of eating and exercise, have half heartedly planned a walking route around my town, quite hilly but will only do this after dark Blush.

cheaphawaiian · 05/09/2010 16:19

Sorry you are feeling down. Is it just that you are not losing, or is there more?

Are you following any particular diet?

I'm only a bit taller than you, and I was a lot heavier before I started. Are you drinking plenty of water? What are you weaknesses? (Cheese and bread for me!)

At 11 stone, you can't be so big that you can only go out after dark. What help do you need?

MostlyLurking · 05/09/2010 19:06

Cheaphawaiian, thanks for the reply, was just venting really.

It's not really the weight issue, it's life getting in the way. Very long story short, not totally sure after this week if dp is still or wants to be dp. After dark going out is due to xh and stalking, don't ask!!

I'm just trying to follow a healthy eating plan, to be honest food doesn't really bother me, it's the exercise that I really need to crack into.

Am feeling a little more positive now, back to work tomorrow, have made soup for lunch to take in a flask and I WILL walk tomorrow evening.

Have been away for few days so sorry am late posting. Am gutted I've only lost 1lb coz I've been SO good but I haven't exercised so that must be rectified this week. I'm hoping now the kids are back to school & I'm back at work I can be more motivated & feel positive again. Has anyone got any good tips or good recipes? I'd love some new ideas
mostlylurking hope you're OK Smile
Hope everyone has a good week, we can do this!

cheaphawaiian · 06/09/2010 12:23

Belle yes, we can do this. I'm feeling all 'new year, new start' this morning as 2 of my DCs have started new schools today.

mostlylurking sounds like you've got a lot on your plate - try to be kind to yourself.

Are you getting enough sleep? Some time ago I read an article about sleeping yourself thin. (Yes, bizarre, must have been in the dentist's waiting room.) Basically, if you body isn't resting for long enough it hangs onto fat because it's expecting a high energy demand. The author made some connection between soldiers in the trenches and the fact that they spent a lot of time waiting around but weren't able to sleep, and gained weight on normal rations.

Whether or not there is any truth in it, I couldn't say but, I'm extremely good at sleeping so I like it!

buttonmoon78 · 07/09/2010 12:23

I am so excited! Gym tomorrow! Am in a really good place to start going.

Am aiming to get a shed load of cardio in while I lose the first stone then add some weights to tone.

Am also proud of myself today - had porridge for breakfast, but no snacking at all! Lots of water but off now to make lunch. Am thinking tuna salad is calling.

Have not done really well this week til today but the thought of the gym is really motivating me. Can't wait to get there!

How's everyone doing? good couple of days for me (thank god!) now term has started & we seem in a routine again Have been really good with food & drunk lots of water, DH late home both nights so was too knackered to go for a run but will try tomorrow.
Good luck at the gym button
