Oh @PearlsTeapot sorry to read that - sending you an imaginary new treat ...

TheZingyFish · 28/09/2026 15:52

@PearlsTeapot We’re all here for you, you’ve done this before and can do it again. Try not to be too hard on yourself, we all struggle and need help in different forms.

Foolish1984 · 28/09/2026 16:15

I’ll be on week 7 as of tomorrow and I’ve only lost one stone exactly 🫩 I’ve definitely had suppression and tbh have barely been eating enough to sustain myself, along with making big changes to what I eat and increasing exercise. Yet all I’ve lost is 1 stone?! Very close to giving up. I’m paying an absolute fortune, but for what exactly? Bigger bloody all

Back in hospital 😢 sectioned again. In London again. Feeling very far from home.

What on earth for??? I’m sorry to hear this. I didn’t think they still sectioned people unless in extremely severe circumstances. They don’t currently do it at all in my local NHS trust.
Hope it all works out for you, anyway. I can’t imagine it’s nice for you. Do you have family support?

BritbirdUK · 28/09/2026 16:28

@PearlsTeapot I hope that you are able to get the support that you need. Take care of yourself.

BritbirdUK · 28/09/2026 16:39

Can I ask please, has anyone got an tips for consipation whilst taking MJ. I think I know what it is - the past few weeks I have been training our Christmas staff (I run a hamper company) and so my water consumption hasn't been the best and I am eating at weird times and defintiely not regularly. It is still non-processed foods but a lot less in terms of fruit and veg compared to before. I went shopping this morning and stocked up so hopefully I will be able to rectify the situation and get back to "normal" soon.

In other news I have officially been on MJ for 3 months. In that time I have lost the grand total of 4 stone, 8.4lb. My goal was originally 5 stone before Christmas so I am going with my stretch target of 6. But equally if that doesn't happen, as I know I am losing fast currently, then I am ok with that. I feel like I have changed a lot as a person in that time - I am still really overweight but I am walking faster, less sedentary and marginally more confident. People are starting to notice and some are commenting. My hairdresser came right out and asked me. But she knows me well and has done it herself so it was actually useful to chat. Another friend messaged me after my Mum posted a photo saying how she could see such a difference. That is a huge motivator even if I can't really see it much myself yet.

That's 2lb a week, that's a good loss. Can I ask what you were hoping for? I really don't think you should be disappointed.

Billybingbong · 28/09/2026 16:57

@PearlsTeapot so sorry to hear you're back in hospital. You know you're where you need to be right now, and we're all here willing you on for a fast recovery. Here's hoping you're back up north with your DW in no time xx

Billybingbong · 28/09/2026 17:10

So I got so fed up with yoyo'ing, and what felt like months of getting nowhere fast, I decided to do a complete reset, and stopped jabbing and weighing for a few weeks.

I decided today was the day to start again, and brave the scales, and I'm pleasantly surprised that I've only gained 2lb in that time. I'm still 8st 9lb down, so am starting strong. Jab done, let's get these last few st gone

One very happy NSV today, I've just bought my first ever pair of knee high boots, and they fit a treat, with room to spare 🥰

I hope everyone's doing good, it will take me an age to catch up with everyone's news!

TheZingyFish · 28/09/2026 17:19

Hi @Billybingbong, can I ask how long you were off the jabs for and what dose were you on before stopping and then you went back to? Did you start again at 2.5mg?

Possibly not a question to ask.

Many trusts still have the option but only ones that also have the correct MH facilities.

2lb a week is a normal amount to start with.
What did you expect?

Not a terribly helpful comment.

Billybingbong · 28/09/2026 18:05

Hi @TheZingyFish I was only on 5mg, and have only been off them for 3 weeks, so have gone straight back to 5mg. I was jabbing every 5 days, but am going to go back to weekly, and see how I get on for now. How are you getting on? I remember we started at the same time, it feels like eons ago now!!

More than 2lb a week! Surely I’ve passed the ‘to start with’ stage at 7 weeks?? 😕

52soon · 28/09/2026 18:45

@PearlsTeapot sorry to hear your news but it that’s where you need to be to get well it’s the right place to be. We’re all routing for you and hope you get back to your family soon.

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 28/09/2026 19:13

So sorry to hear you are unwell @PearlsTeapot but at least you are in a familiar place and know that you will get better in time. We're all behind you.

TragicMuse · 28/09/2026 19:31

I'm so sorry @PearlsTeapot and hope you are back on the way to recovery soon.

TheZingyFish · 28/09/2026 19:42

Hi @Billybingbong, I thought I was back on track last week when I hit 8st 13.5lbs off, but was away last week and have put 2.5lbs again. I’m currently on 12.5mg, so would worry about where I would step off and back on again. I’m still a size 30 and just under 16st so have a way to go yet.

I think I need a proper reset but am scared to come off in case I put too much on. I am going to have to really focus and almost treat this like a diet for the first time.

I don't think I lost much more than that in my first 7 weeks...

But it's not a competition. No-one is 'winning' or doing it better, we don't have 'slimmer of the week' - your experience is yours alone. And only you can manage those expectations.

Look, you can stop, or not, it's entirely up to you, and no-one here will be any the wiser. But what I would very much recommend is trying to avoid comparing yourself to anyone else.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a bloody miracle drug, I really do, but it's a long game, I don't think any of us here in this group would say it's been quick and easy. And we've all had to manage our own emotions about that.

Maybe give yourself a break?

flipent · 28/09/2026 20:54

@Foolish1984 2lbs a week is great. It’s likely to slow, 1lb a week is still good and many of us here are less than that as we get closer to our goals. If you’ve got 10st or more to lose, this is a long term commitment.

could you have lost that stone in 7 weeks without MJ? I could do this without MJ, and I’m 18 months into a long journey.

if you think you can do it without MJ and feel like it’s a waste of money then you can stop.

if you just want multiple stones to fall off you each week then you need to revise your expectations.

Whatever you choose to do, I hope it gets you where you want to be. A

The recommended rate for healthy weight loss is 1 to 2 lbs a week. More than that is what leads to the nasty side effects of rapid weight loss, from what I've read.

Springflowers2 · 29/09/2026 10:01

@PearlsTeapot ..we are all here for you ,and rooting for you to get well and get home again to your lovely family ..
It's been a long journey on this thread for a lot of us who started at the same ISH time ..and we have all supported each other in different ways with different situations..

I never said nor implied it was a competition??? I’m just as entitled to share my experience here as you are or anyone else, surely?
