Anyone else waiting for this? I am, let’s start a thread to see how we all get on. I have two stone to lose. My DH said yesterday that ‘I am a bit plump’. Upset, though it’s true.

@Thehumblesmidge in my experience, the question about BP on the online consultation form is not because they need to know your BP, but because having high BP would mean you could qualify for WLI or tablets at a lower BMI. Usually it's a BMI of 30 to qualify but if you have a weight-related health condition like high BP, then you can get WLI from a BMI of 27.

I would try and get an accurate weight reading rather than guesstimating, if you can. Not that it would necessarily cause an issue, but because you'll want to know if the medication is working for you and whether you're losing weight quickly, moderately or slowly. Some GP surgeries have scales, or places like Boots might do. Or buy some scales, they don't have to be expensive fancy ones, £20 to £30 ones would do.

Ah ok thank you. I thought perhaps high blood pressure would be a risk and a reason not to take them. I’m really dreadfully clueless about it all. I’ve never had scales at home and always lost weight until I’m happy in the size of clothes I’m wearing/ how I’m feeling etc but that makes sense to buy scales and keep an eye on the weight loss more accurately

Most High Street pharmacies can take your BP (I've used a few online pharmacies and none have asked me for the actual numbers).

I do think you might struggle without weighing scales though. Most online pharmacies ask for evidence of your current weight. Some ask for a photo of the scales with today's date written on a piece of paper placed between your feet. Others want a video of you from the front and side before you turn the camera and step on the scales.

If you have concerns you could pop into your local pharmacy who provide weightloss medication. They'll undertake the necessary checks and if you're eligble probably prescribe and dispense. They probably wont be the cheapest but you can always go online for your next pen. Just keep a photo of the box with your details on it which any pharmacy will accept.

Good luck.

Thank you. I’m completely freaked out by the injections but interested in these new pills. Thanks for all the advice

How have people found the pill for feeling “hangry”. I get terrible hanger and don’t cope if I’m very hungry. The problem is I do then go bonkers and eat too much. Does it suppress that feeling? How do you find it changes your hunger cues?

SilenceInside · Yesterday 14:20

@Thehumblesmidge as @itsanamething says, thinking about it you will probably need scales as most places will ask for a photo or a video of you standing on the scales to prove your weight.

There are very few contraindications to taking Mounjaro or Wegovy, and the online consultation form will ask specifically about any potential issues. It will tell you if you are not able to be prescribed WLI based on your answers. Things like high BP are not an issue at all, they are in fact things that WLI are intended to help with.

All GLP1 medications, whether the injection or tablets, affect your hunger levels. They make you feel fuller quicker, and for longer. They also help to control blood sugar spikes too. I don't get hangry at all anymore, I don't get ravenously hungry like I did before. Even if I do feel quite hungry, I eat a reasonable amount and then I'm full and don't want to eat any more. That's why these medications are so successful at weight loss. They are synthetic versions of the hormones your body produces after you eat, but they last very much longer and you take them in much larger quantities than what would be produced naturally.

It’s worth remembering that some of the big scare stories have been side effects that are due to rapid weight loss, and would occur with any method that achieved this, and not specifically the injections. Lose too much weight too fast and you do put your body systems under strain.

Thank you that sounds like a dream. I struggle with hanger and feeling absolutely ravenous so portion control is hard

Yes I need to get my head around the dosage and when you come off them how you do it gradually etc.

I haven't been hangry at all. The closest I've been to it is when I've realized I am actually hungry but can't decide what to eat as nothing appeals.

Thanks for posting this. I took my first pill today and have felt zero appetite suppression. I've been as hungry as usual. Fingers crossed it will improve.

I think the pills are starting to take effect. My downfall is evening snacking, and last night I was lying bed at 11pm and realised I hadn't thought about eating after finishing my dinner at 7pm. Normally, I'd have some chocolate or an ice cream or a bowl of cereal etc. Last night I didn't even slightly feel the urge to snack.

Hi all..
Lots of weight to lose... and 20th wedding anniversary next year (30 years together). Bolt have approved my package and should be arriving Mon.

Determined to look better for Christmas.

Anyone else noticed the effect the hot weather has on food noise?

It made me realise how much of a real thing it is for me and GLP1 might just work.

YourCleverSheep · Today 20:23
