Anyone else waiting for this? I am, let’s start a thread to see how we all get on. I have two stone to lose. My DH said yesterday that ‘I am a bit plump’. Upset, though it’s true.

OP posts:
CrotchetyQuaver · 09/07/2026 18:30

Mine is on its way
I have 3 stone to lose to get to the top limit of "acceptable" BMI range.
Im 62 next month, learning more about myself every day. I'm almost certainly undiagnosed ADHD (waiting for a diagnosis under RTC if it ever happens). I gave up smoking again in January and 10kg has gone on since, I'm not over eating, this happened the last time I gave up 2010-2020, it's some chemical type thing and I hate it. The weight melted off without trying last time I started smoking again and I didn't eat any less. The smoking helps enormously with not just the weight but clarity and calmness and general getting on with stuff, but it's not good and very expensive, waiting to see once I've ramped up the dose if it's more expensive than smoking

Solasum · 09/07/2026 18:42

Shameless plug, but I went for Voy, and have a code that is mutually beneficial in case anyone wants one by PM. I am hoping the low dose works for me, because I can’t really justify spending a fortune on myself long term

FlipperSkipper · 09/07/2026 18:54

I am so tempted but I’m worried about what my husband will think. I know that’s ridiculous. Does the packaging make it obvious what it is?

rivalsbinge · 09/07/2026 19:16

Mine is due for delivery tomorrow!! Ekkkkk

@FlipperSkipper mine was a plain cardboard box.

When I started MJ, I was overeating. Felt very hungry all the time. Craved sugar. I injected and for 24 hours I continued to feel hungry. Was so disappointed and was convinced I would be one of those folk it didn't work for. And then a few hours went by and it dawned on me I hadn't thought about food. Then more hours. Then I realised I didn't fancy anything sugary. Was really subtle rather than an obvious lack of appetite but it made such a huge difference.

Good luck 🤞

Thanks for posting this. I took my first pill today and have felt zero appetite suppression. I've been as hungry as usual. Fingers crossed it will improve.

Nope and if it says pharmacy you just say it’s vitamin supplements 😂

(but in reality you shouldn’t have to hide it)

Do you feel better on Wegovy pills?

So far so good, the injections made me feel ill within hours. Tomorrow will be day 3 and not felt bad yet. Hope I haven’t just jinxed myself

If anyone would like a discount code to get £60 off Voy, private message me.

Ireolu · Yesterday 07:01

I started in Wednesday as soon as it arrived! Rubbish at reading instructions so probably didn't take it as it was meant to be taken but was keen to start so I did..with the heat im up by half 6 so its easier to take then have my usual morning coffee 45 mins later. I think I have noticed a difference in a few short days with reduction in hunger and early satiety but may all be in my head. I have 8kg to lose and hopefully keep off. I have used MJ in the past. I like the flexibility with this. I used MMP.

Learningdutch · Yesterday 07:36

Blue Light are doing discounts on some suppliers, first order only I think.

Beesclover · Yesterday 07:54

Have the pills kicked in for anyone yet? I'm still waiting for a reduction in appetite.

Bluepoppy21 · Yesterday 08:53

Mine are due to be delivered this weekend.
I’m 5’ 7’’. I have lost 2 stone very slowly with SW but am now stuck.
I have a further 3 stone to lose.
I’m a reward/ comfort eater (with wine) so hoping this will reduce those noises.

Roundisashape · Yesterday 09:21

Mine got here on Wednesday, I was also super excited to get going so ended up fasting until they arrive. Id like to know where this restraint has been previously!

I felt quite sick on taking the tablet, which made me very nervous for the rest of the day. But I noticed yesterday I didn't snack at all and didn't think about food outside of mealtimes. Might all be in my head, but I'll take it.

Jess2002 · Yesterday 10:13

Day 2 for me. First day felt a bit sick in the morning but a peppermint tea sorted that out pretty quickly. Have had zero appetite since yesterday afternoon, had to force down a bowl of yoghurt and berries for dinner! Was not expecting to feel the affect’s so quickly but I’ll take it! Going to focus on protein with every meal and strength training 2-3 times a week to make sure what comes off is fat and not muscle! Cautiously optimistic so far

The main medications currently are semaglutide and tirzepatide but they then have branded names as some countries (possibly just America but I'm not sure) had to have different names for insurance purposes. An insurer might allow an American patient one medication to treat their diabetes but not the same named medication for another patient without diabetes but who wanted it purely for weightloss.

Semaglutide is branded Wegovy or Ozempic.

Tirzepatide is branded Zepbound or Mounjaro.

In the UK we have Wegovy and Mounjaro. Both are GLP1s but Mounjaro also has a GIP so two ingredients that mimic natural hormones in our bodies to help us feel sated after eating and fuller for longer.

There are other drugs on the way -
Retatrutide has three ingredients but it's not legally available anywhere yet. Lots of people currently taking it are obtaining it on something called the grey market, essentially not legal.

Foundayo or orforglipron is a pill which is available in America but not yet approved in the UK. It's very similar to the Wegovy pill but somewhat easier to take as you don't need to take it on an empty stomach or abstain from eating or drinking for 30 minutes.

Mounjaro is only available as injections.

Wegovy is now available as injections or pills.

I don't think many people are able to source weightloss medication via their GP. The people who decide on where money is spent have set criteria to even allow a GP to prescribe and it seems to differ by where you live - the postcode lottery.

All UK online pharmacies have the same procedures and guidelines to follow as the ones on the High Street. They are regularly inspected and if they fail the inspection can be closed down.

If I wanted to start on the medication I'd choose the Wegovy pill because it's a little cheaper and easier than injections. I'd use the comparison site mentioned above. It does usually work but you do have to follow the links. The people who run the site are quick to correct any broken links and update the prices daily.

Hope I've covered everything.

I’m looking at the Voy site. When filling it in I’m confident answering that I have no health issues but I don’t know my BP reading and I don’t actually know my exact weight now and no scales at home. Is it best to have an appointment with my GP for a bit of a check up first and just make sure there are no issues before starting?

I’m fearful of hurting myself taking this medication- but more fearful of hurting myself staying so overweight! Probably because it’s all so new and all the terrible celebrity photos of people on mounjaro. It’s given me a bit of a fear of it all!

Might be easier to pop to boots and get a BP and weight reading?

although could be worth considering buying? Get a decent set of the body composition ones so you can keep an eye on fat vs muscle etc. not that I’m convinced they’re very accurate- mine are a cheap set though!

bp cuffs are reasonable too.

i was where you are. The mental and physical issues of being overweight though finally beat the fear of the medication.

SilenceInside · Yesterday 11:35

@Thehumblesmidge bear in mind with articles in the media that they are fishing for clicks and the dramatic stories get more attention. Also, they tend to feature celebrities who haven't confirmed that they have used a GLP1 but have had a dramatic change in appearance, for reasons they haven't ever discussed. All the celebrities that I have seen that have stated they have used Mounjaro look absolutely fine.

It's also not that new. I've been on Mounjaro for two years now, I don't look terrible and I have lost 11st or so. No terrible side effects either. I am the fittest and healthiest I have ever been as an adult.

Wow that’s incredible! Well done. I think I am going to go for it. I just didn’t know if ticking I have no BP issues and putting a rough weight would be fine 😬 I have no BP issues I know about but then again I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been now and not had any check ups.

I’m not great with medical things hence the apprehension but I do want to be where you are. I’m truly fed up with it all now.

Yes it’s at a tipping point now. I used to drop weight so easily. But after children and approaching 40, it’s just not the same. Are you taking the new pill?

SilenceInside · Yesterday 12:24

@Thehumblesmidge in my experience, the question about BP on the online consultation form is not because they need to know your BP, but because having high BP would mean you could qualify for WLI or tablets at a lower BMI. Usually it's a BMI of 30 to qualify but if you have a weight-related health condition like high BP, then you can get WLI from a BMI of 27.

I would try and get an accurate weight reading rather than guesstimating, if you can. Not that it would necessarily cause an issue, but because you'll want to know if the medication is working for you and whether you're losing weight quickly, moderately or slowly. Some GP surgeries have scales, or places like Boots might do. Or buy some scales, they don't have to be expensive fancy ones, £20 to £30 ones would do.

Most High Street pharmacies can take your BP (I've used a few online pharmacies and none have asked me for the actual numbers).

I do think you might struggle without weighing scales though. Most online pharmacies ask for evidence of your current weight. Some ask for a photo of the scales with today's date written on a piece of paper placed between your feet. Others want a video of you from the front and side before you turn the camera and step on the scales.

If you have concerns you could pop into your local pharmacy who provide weightloss medication. They'll undertake the necessary checks and if you're eligble probably prescribe and dispense. They probably wont be the cheapest but you can always go online for your next pen. Just keep a photo of the box with your details on it which any pharmacy will accept.

Good luck.
