Hi all,
@GiveMeWordGames - I agree, I am sure we all know of many people that could benefit from WLI that do not have the means to fund it, sadly.
I don't believe WLI through the NHS should be available to just anyone who is overweight/obese as the NHS has a finite limit on resource. However, I do think the current NHS qualifying criteria for WLI is far too strict. DH does not qualify despite having several co-morbidities and his cardiologist believing he would be the ideal candidate. So whilst I had an initial BMI of 38, high BP, joint pain and osteoarthritis, I think maybe it is right I wouldn't have qualified for treatment on the NHS. But DH had an initial BMI of 48 (obviously lower now, but he is still classed as obese) with high BP, poorly controlled atrial fibrillation, T2D, high cholesterol, osteoarthritis and a consultant recommendation for treatment (and I am sure I have missed some co-morbidities off), yet he would not and does not qualify for treatment on the NHS.
We have been lucky enough to be able to afford to buy it for both of us, but that has come at a great sacrifice elsewhere and we have had to cut our cloth accordingly.
SW: 15st 5.5lb
CW: 8st 7.5lb
Loss: 96lb
Current BMI: 21.2
Target Weight 1: 12st 1lb (overweight BMI) - Achieved!
Target Weight 2: 10st 1lb (healthy BMI) - Achieved!
Target Weight 3: 9st 5.5lb (6st loss) - Achieved!
Final Target: 8st 8lb - 9st 1lb - Achieved!
After thinking I had cracked this maintenance lark last week, I have lost another 1.5lb this week and have dropped 0.5lb below my lowest target weight.
I've tapered down even more, my appetite is increasing and I am eating accordingly, but for some reason my weight continues to drop. I am trying not to obsess and worry about it; I am still nicely within the healthy BMI range, so I will continue to be sensible with increasing my food intake and decreasing the MJ dosage (as well as increasing the interval between doses). Hopefully, I will hit a plateau soon.
