Brilliant @MooBaggage

Interesting week here - I gained 2lb and lost 2lb so net constant. I am going to go up to 7.5 tomorrow.

Onegramatatime · 23/07/2026 09:24

@MooBaggage , while my body grumpily looses weight that made me laugh.
Well done on your 2lbs loss! How are you feeling now post-cataract surgery? Are you back to yoga?

I am reducing my mounjaro dose... last week i looked in the mirror and did not like what I saw. I looked loose and saggy.
I am happy i have lost weight..can't believe i can now cross my legs!! I go up stairs without panting, chest tightening or feeling faint, my blood markers are all massively improved, my joints are less painful but I did not like the start of sagging skin i saw. Especially as i have been very careful to lose weight slooooooooowly.
I have taken my eyes off the ball recently tbh, i have not been strength training consistently, haven't been eating enough protein and my water intake has been subpar. So it was bound to reflect in how my body looks.

So i am reducing my Mounjaro dose to reduce my appetite suppression/sateity. I need to slow my weight loss a bit more so my strength training and body recomposition catches up a bit.
Onwards and downwards!!

@Onegramatatime that's spooky because I was somewhere yesterday and noticed how I was crossing my legs - like, actually crossing them and not hefting one over the other at right angles - they actually cross like a 'Normal' now! 😀

My eyes are good - the most recent one is still a tiny bit sore and gets tired when I do lots of screen work, but tons better. I can exercise from next Wednesday when I hit the 4 week post-op mark. Can't wait - am going to hit the yoga mat and the weights hard as my body has missed it!

Congratulations @MooBaggage You are amazing! 8 stones down is wonderful.

@Zebracat As it happens, my Eufy scales suddenly stopped working. My new ones came yesterday. So, fresh in my head;

Download the Eufy App on your phone
It will direct you through everything - sex; height; DOB, etc. Set goals.....
Pop the batteries in the scales
Make sure bluetooth is on
Stand on the scales

and that is it! Hope they help. I love and hate them all in one😂They are obviously my best friend when they show good things!

6 pounds to go to get to the top of healthy BMI. On I plod. Am more diligent with my arms exercises after committing to myself. It is a 6 minute routine FFS. Just get on and do it is my mantra. I have also bought an exercise bike. Half decent but not the full blown peloton - that would be too far. Hasn't come yet. Had to research "easy-to-build"....I am sure there is an irony there during my "I must move more" endeavour.

Thanks everyone. This is a great thread and glad to be on it.

Woofwoofwoff · 23/07/2026 09:58

Hi everyone.

start date Jan 25 315lb (bmi 51)
current weight 193 lb (bmi 32 ish)
using 15mg for about 12 months now .

struggling atm as lots of end of term/ holidays coming up that will stall me

husband is considering the tablets for next month. (He lost 4 stone last year on the jabs , but we couldn’t afford both of us on them and he’s put back on 2 stone )

I don’t have a target yet but my next mini target is 180 lb which should get me to just overweight bmi 29.9 🤪🤞

GiveMeWordGames · 23/07/2026 09:59

Woo hoo for 8 stone loss @MooBaggage !!👏🍾 Well done. That's incredible. And being sooo close to BMI <25.

@SmallTreeDeepRoots you can absolutely do that. 💪

@SecondCircuit I've been hopeless at keeping up the weights in the crazy weather. It's become very sporadic with me. And the heat definitely messes with metabolism.

I'm quiet because I'm bumping along in maintenance fairly ok. As I've mentioned on the maintenance thread, it's booze that I'm having to be careful of. I'm still on 5mg, aiming to move down to 2.5 in late summer. But while my appetite/eating is pretty stable, the aspect of MJ that massively reduced my desire and ability to drink seems to have gone away. And in this weather, in the summer holiday period when my work is quieter...guess what I love doing. 😅Anyway, at least I'm still around 10st 11 give or take a couple of pounds so we're basically good.

MooBaggage · 23/07/2026 10:09

Hi @Woofwoofwoff 😊👋 Wow - you are doing brilliantly - what a fantastic loss so far!! My original target was a BMI of 29.9 - felt impossible but I had to set myself something and today I'm 21lbs lower than that - so I know it's doable and you'll get there 😃

I'm glad I've had my summer holiday breaks done as they definitely stalled me - but what can you do - life is for enjoying and if this is an indefinite way to live, there are going to be periods of time that are more indulgent than others, or out of routine. I think for me, the MJ means I can get back 'on track' much more quickly afterwards, rather than think fuck it and put all the weight back on.

I'm away this weekend but only UK based couple of nights, so should be fine. Then my next holiday is at the very end of September - with my Mum, so alcohol will be required.... 😬 But until then, I think I can keep in a routine and hopefully knock a few more lbs off before my next period of indulgence..!

@MooBaggage congratulations! 8 stone is a phenomenal achievement.

Hensandhearth · 23/07/2026 10:43

My join you please? I’m 11 weeks in and just over a stone down. I have at least another 6 stone to loose. My weight loss feels a lot slower than others have been. I’m starting to realise that for me it’s going to take a couple of years to get to goal….. but I’m hoping a that maybe the slow steady weight loss will help me. Fingers crossed the time will help build healthy habits around food choices portion size and exercise.

MooBaggage · 23/07/2026 10:49

Hello @Hensandhearth 😊👋

We're all about the slow and steady around here! Sounds like you're losing at just over 1lb a week which is perfect - but I know how you feel re: the time stretching ahead and realising it's such a long journey. I reckon I'll get to my final goal in about Jan/Feb 2027, (BMI of 23. something) which will be 2 years from starting, as I'm losing around 2lb a month (ish) now.

Are you doing any exercise stuff yet? I'm rubbish at anything cardio but can recommend getting hand weights (I started with 3kgs and use them and some 5kg ones) if you haven't got any and having a go at home - I feel tons stronger and fitter since using them. I am also newly addicted to yoga 😀 I did tell myself I'd get on my bike from May 2026 and have used it exactly once... 🙄

Hi tha ky pi for such.a lovely welcome and congratulations on your achievements.

i have a an Achilles tendon issue so im limited exercise wise and slowly building up walking and seated weights under the direction of my physio. I can and do swim at least once a week which I’m started to really enjoy. I need to increase the swimming to 2/3 times weekly 🏊🩱

Hi! I’m losing pretty slowly as well and I’ve realised that to stay healthy throughout this process, this actually is the best way for me. I’m 7.5kg down after 7 weeks and also another 37kg to go, so I’m in a very similar place to you.
Just think of where you are now compared to when you started and keep doing that every couple of months. It’s so worth it for us all!

SmallTreeDeepRoots · 23/07/2026 11:54

Hi @Hensandhearth ! I’m fairly new too and this is such a lovely thread full of people slowly and steadily reaching their goals. It gives me so much hope to see that we get there eventually if we keep going.

HelenDenver · 23/07/2026 12:38

Hi @Hensandhearth I’m on week 5 with just over 5kg lost and a lot still to go. First goal is 14kg off slow and steady and then I’ll set another goal.

Cheesecake53 · 23/07/2026 14:23

I am on the beginning of losing 42kg (or 6stone plus something) too. It is so daunting. I did my first injection last Friday. Not having to thinking of food all the time is brilliant!

McGuyverTheCat · 24/07/2026 07:10

Hi all I’m a long term lurker and have enjoyed following your journeys! I started on MJ in May 2025 and have lost just over 6 stone. Starting weight 17.11. Currently 11:8 with a BMI finally under the magic 30 so I’m now merely overweight not obese (original BMI was 44).

I am starting to slowly reduce down my dose so each month I buy a smaller pen. Hoping to get to maybe 5 and stick there.

I am actually very happy with where I am and how I look so my target is 11:4 and I find I have no desire to be smaller than the size 14 I am now. Everyone here seems to be chasing a BMI under 25 but I don’t believe I want to. Does anyone else feel like this? I’m finding myself spending a lot of time worrying what I should be aiming for rather than celebrating where I am.

I swim 3 x week and when I started so could barely swim more than 4 lengths. Yesterday I swam solidly for an hour, doing 40 lengths non stop! I am amazed at what my 52 year old body can do!! I also have hand weights, an exercise bike and walk a lot. I try to do two things off my list each day.

i put on my size 14 jeans the other day and they are a little roomy! And this is my progress belt - my thumb is where I started. So I thought you might enjoy it with me!

Mounjaro/Wegovy with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 13!
HelenDenver · 24/07/2026 07:22

Congrats MacGuyver!

I am a lot earlier in my journey but I am not sure I will aim for BMI 25 either. I weighed far too little in my teens and, once I started eating better, have been over BMI 25 since my mid 20s. But I was pretty happy with my body for 10-15 years at that level, before weight crept up into obese BMI.

I guess I’ll see how it goes in the coming months!

It’s a bit overwhelming looking at how much to weight needs to go. But the that first step is the start. It’s amazing to me not thinking about and craving food….

Cheesecake53 · 24/07/2026 09:11

@Hensandhearth that is so true. Suddenly there is so much time to think of other things :).

GiveMeWordGames · 24/07/2026 09:14

Oh, wow @McGuyverTheCat ! Love the progress belt. You've done so well!

While I have ended up with BMI <25 I've only gone down to 23 and I'm still very much a 14 minimum on top, maybe 12-14 on the bottom depending on brand, stretch of fabric etc. My original target range went up to and above BMI 25. Once I got there I just stumbled my way to what felt right and comfortable.

That was originally the same as you are now - 11st 4, which was exactly 6st off and at my height was BMI 24. Then I decided that as I plan to come off (albeit slowly) I wanted some wriggle room, so kept losing a little as I started titrating down. Which is how I've ended up pretty happy at 10st 11 for the last couple of months. I definitely don't want to go too low at my age - mid 50s.

Welcome @Cheesecake53 and @Hensandhearth ! You're both in the right place and off to a good start. 😃

Onegramatatime · 24/07/2026 11:56

@Cheesecake53 , welcome!! Your 2nd jab is today. How have you been feeling so far? Hope the SE have not been too bad.
a
@Hensandhearth , welcome to you!! Slow and steady is really good. Key thing is that it is steady. It's hard to not feel a little frustration with slow & steady especially if you want to see your losses go faster.

@McGuyverTheCat , what a journey! Welldone. Absolutely love your progress belt.

I am now aiming for a BMI of 22.5 about 60kg but initially planned to get to a BMI of 20.5 about 54kg which was my normal before I gained all the weight. I am currently 64.1kg and have lost 26.6kg.
I am 163.5cm tall with big bones but look quite small framed. So any little weight gain carries heavy and doesn't sit well. I am keeping an open mind about what weight/BMI I end up with. I want to see how the next two months go with strength training and how my body composition goes.

Cheesecake53 · 24/07/2026 12:47

@Onegramatatime thank you, I've had no SE so far (frantically touching wood).

A 26.6kg loss is absolutely brilliant!!

MooBaggage · 24/07/2026 12:58

@McGuyverTheCat I know what you mean re: chasing the BMI of under 25 - and I am one of those chasers!

My original BMI was 43 and my original target was to have a BMI of 29.9 as I couldn't imagine anything less. Once I got there, I knew I wanted to keep going.

For me, as someone who has been either overweight or obese (mainly obese!) since my teenage years, this is probably now an obsession, because I have never felt able/capable of getting anywhere near a Healthy BMI - so I want to prove to myself that I can do it. I feel like if only I'd had the medical support my body needed, I wouldn't have spent 40 years battling my weight, and losing.

I'll definitely start tapering once I hit BMI 24.9 - I have no desire to be small/skinny and with my frame (5'8", size 10 feet, enormous hands/long arms and legs!) I couldn't be anyway - I think I might end up being a size 12 - 14 and that will be amazing! If I finish up with a BMI in the 23s I'll be done - but if I'm always a BMI of 24. something that's great too - I just need to know I can do it 😬

OP posts:
Onegramatatime · 24/07/2026 13:39

@MooBaggage , you describe it so well.
I was chasing BMI of 20 because I wanted to prove to myself, I could be normal again. I could be me.

Obviously, with age, the loose skin coming with weight loss and better self-confidence, i have loosen my rigidity on that target - my normal has become a little bit fluid but I absolutely want to prove to myself I can be normal again.

GiveMeWordGames · 24/07/2026 20:36

@MooBaggage heavens, a size 10 in shoes! And I thought being a size 8 was annoying enough. My mum's a size 9 and she struggles. Where do you buy stuff?

I used to joke I was going to open a clothing shop called Orangutan for tall people with broad shoulders and long arms after a life time of, particularly coat sleeves, sitting an inch above my bloody wrists. It's better now the next generations are taller and longer but the 80s and 90s were slim pickings.
