What a fab NSV @MooBaggage . 👏

Sometimes I feel my brain has finally caught up and other times I open something I've bought from Vinted and think "ah, shit, no way" and then it fits perfectly or with room to spare.

Questions1234 · 02/08/2026 09:57

Well done @MooBaggage - a great NSV!

I massively struggle with my brain keeping up with my body changes. I’ve been stable since Easter ish, and while I now don’t get a massive shock when seeing a photo/glimpse in the mirror, I still have WTF moments. Recent one is I’ve come on holiday to discover I no longer float 🤯🤯. I mean I do if I actively tread water (I’m not a stone!), but I used to be able to just lie back.

NewbieMJ · 02/08/2026 10:00

That is such a brilliant post @MooBaggage It brought tears!

Congratulations❤

Yesterday I was thinking it was pretty poor then I remembered I was due to jab today. It's actually been fine really. Nothing like my first few weeks on 2.5 but I feel like it's a more practical level where I don't want to eat all the time but don't have full suppression so I'm learning to live with food if that makes sense.

Sorry..i missed your reply.

It does make sense. Hope it stays manageable for you. A good way to kinda practise for when you wean or stop MJ.
I am scared of the hunger and food noise coming back should/when i stop MJ.

Yes I am a bit too.
Interesting but today I've had about 800 calories and really don't want anything more so I guess I'll embrace it for today. I would be surprised if it continued like this tomorrow! Just checked my shotsy app and I'm at peak MJ in my system so that makes sense.

MoneyJo · 04/08/2026 13:49

Whoop whoop! I have just passed the 4 stone mark today! That's since I started cutting sugar 18 months ago. 2 stone 10 down since starting MJ.

I never really expected to get here. Still another 4 stone 9 to go but almost half way. Moving up to 7.5 a couple of weeks ago has made a big difference.

Thanks! On my current dose I don't really fancy many treats so it may have to be a non consumable 😀

@MoneyJo thats brilliant, well done

Yep - I'm with you! I'm actually wondering whether 15mg is too high for me - the suppression is really strong and I'm just not wanting to eat at all at the moment. I moved up because the weight loss had completely stalled and it does seem to have kicked it back off, but I'm thinking about reducing slowly back down to 12.5mg from next week, as I don't like this slightly nauseous feeling all the time... My impatience to lose this final half a stone possibly clouded my dose judgment - every day's a school day...!

I vote we have non-edible treats - is it time to buy smaller clothes yet?! 😊

Ooh yes I might just pop over to vinted for my treat!

SecondCircuit · 04/08/2026 18:39

Well done @MoneyJo !
And yes to a non food treat.

ANutAsBigAsABoulder · 04/08/2026 19:29

Hello everyone, I’m rejoining after taking an MJ break from April/May til a few weeks ago. I plateaued and got fed up, plus had some big expenses, but have started on 2.5mg again. I lost 28kg in a year, put 5kg back on while off MJ, and aiming to lose 30kg to get me back down to a healthy weight.

SW: 119.3kg
Got to: 87.9kg
Back up to: 93.7kg
CW: 91kg
GW: 64kg

For an interim goal, I’d like to get to 84kg to give me 20kg to go. It feels good to be able to get that down in writing.

HelenDenver · 04/08/2026 19:44

Hiya @ANutAsBigAsABoulder sounds like a good interim goal

I am on week 7 and have decided to go up to 5mg for my next pen. Feel like I need a boost to the suppression as the snacking urge is creeping back a bit!

GiveMeWordGames · 04/08/2026 19:51

Excellent milestone @MoneyJo . Well done. I am thirding approval of a vinted treat. Well deserved! Welcome back @ANutAsBigAsABoulder .

@Questions1234 the floating thing is really interesting. When we went on holiday in June it was just after all the publicity in the UK about water danger and Float to Live. I was trying it in the pool. I hate putting my ears under so that didn't help but I was definitely conscious that I didn't seem to float as well as I used to when I was made of a larger percentage of fat. 🤨

MooBaggage · 04/08/2026 20:36

Yep - really similar experience here re: swimming! I've always loved swimming and do quite a bit of it, but am finding it much harder work these days - I just don't float like I used to..! I miss the fat floating days, but accept that it's possibly even better for me now I have to work at it...😁

MoneyJo · 04/08/2026 20:39

Wow I hadn't thought about floating. I've always had a very positive buoyancy 😀 not been swimming for a while.

MiaN · 05/08/2026 07:14

Can I please join in? Starting monjaro end of next week.

MoneyJo · 05/08/2026 07:56

Welcome @MiaN you might also want to join the group for August 2026 starters but this group is so helpful too.

HelenDenver · 05/08/2026 08:37

Morning @MiaN !

Mid week weigh in, lost a bit but excitingly my body fat percentage is down more than 4% since I started in late June. Now at 50.1% so hopefully will drop below 50% before too long.

MooBaggage · 05/08/2026 16:17

Hi @MiaN - you are very welcome! Good luck starting on MJ and please shout if you have any queries - the knowledge and support from people here is just brilliant 😍

MiaN · 06/08/2026 06:12

Can I ask if you have any tips for me? What do you find most helpful in terms of typical meals, do you take any supplements - I keep seeing collagen being mentioned. Anything you wish you knew?

I have to say I am dealing with the emotional disapointment that I have not been able to deal with the weight myself, something will never think of anyone else but I am glad I made the fist step. I am meeting my doctor on Monday, follow up from initial consultation and set to start next week. I just don't want to be stupid, I want to give myself the help I need and there is no good reason not to

MoneyJo · 06/08/2026 06:41

@MiaN please don't beat yourself up about needing the jabs. There's a very short series on radio 4 that I listened to before starting which really helped me understand that it's basically a chemical issue - I am lacking a certain hormone which leads me to overeat, and the jabs provide that hormone. Worth a listen.

BBC Radio 4 - The Hunger Game https://share.google/EHcHU4jC4AsVIXlGd

I had a really interesting chat with a friend after listening to this, where I discovered why I needed the jabs and she didn't. It was basically what is being said in this podcast.

MoneyJo · 06/08/2026 06:46

Also in terms of tips, the main things are:

  • drink more water
  • prioritise protein (cottage cheese is a wonder! Plus tuna, eggs, chicken
  • increase your level of exercise even if you're just walking more to start with
  • you don't really need supplements but I have got into the habit of having electrolytes first thing. Maybe it makes a difference but it definitely makes me drink half a litre to start the day
  • aim for a sensible loss and you will hopefully avoid most side effects. 1 to 2 pounds a week is ideal.
  • track your calories with something like My Net Diary. Be honest on there! I was amazed at how many calories I was eating before I started so maybe start now as a comparison for once you have the jabs
  • weight regularly but also take measurements of your boobs, waist and hips. It's fascinating watching those go down.

All the best!

HelenDenver · 06/08/2026 06:53

Hi @MiaN

I am 7 weeks into my journey and I relate to the emotional feeling of “I should have been able to do this alone”

But obesity is a medical condition and you wouldn’t judge other medical conditions for needing support (an inhaler for asthma or whatever).

I hope that once you start, those feelings go away.

In terms of tips, I am finding the Nutracheck app invaluable. You can try it free for 7 days and then it’s a one off payment of £40 for a year but I had paid by day 3. I use it to make sure I am eating enough protein (varies with body weight but I target about 110g a day) fibre (ideally 30g a day) and water.

It also can be used to track exercise. If you can manage it, regular resistance training will help you to maintain muscle mass (ideally weight loss comes from lost fat not lost muscle).

I also find fancy scales useful that track fat percentage, BMI etc as well as weight. Mine are Etekcity and link with an app on my phone. I read this before I picked them
