Is anyone else suffering reflux? I had it bad and thought it had subsided, but it’s back and really getting me down. I was sick on Sunday morning (before eating anything), and not sure if it was something I ate on Saturday or extreme reflux.

I’m trying to reduce portion sizes even further to try to avoid it, but so far not working. I hate the bad taste in the back of my mouth, but worse is I’m worried about doing damage to my oesophagus if this persists. My FIL died of oesophageal cancer and my dad died of stomach cancer, so this makes me nervous.

Has anyone had this and it’s gone away? Or found anything that helps relieve it? I really don’t want to have to quit before I’m ready because of this.

WoIsMe · 18/08/2026 16:31

I haven’t with Wegovy @TerrorAustralis but I had it really badly in one pregnancy and I found chewable Rennies really helped. Do you think any particular foods are triggering it?

TerrorAustralis · 19/08/2026 02:31

@WoIsMe I haven’t been able to identify triggers. I had been drinking peppermint tea, but stopped after reading that peppermint can make it worse (apparently it relaxes the oesophageal sphincter).

I’m consciously limiting the volume of food I eat to try to avoid it, with little success.

Today feels slightly better, but it’s jab day, so the semaglutide in my system will be at its lowest.

Anyway, week 8 weigh in and I’m 4kg down, so 0.5kg per week. Although this includes 2 weeks where I lost nothing because of a holiday, so it will be interesting to see if the average changes over time.

Hi folks. Just took my 3rd jab. Have felt clothes getting looser and starting to see more waist definition. I'm on Voy app and it's fab. Really pleased I started. Just one day of feeling nauseous but took an anti nausea tablet. Still get peckish but fill up on protein and fibre. I can't eat a full steak or any other piece of meat. Have been doing Joe Wick's Menopause strength training. That's made a massive difference when I now try on coats and jackets.

Astravanga · 19/08/2026 17:14

Congratulations on your progress @LuckyHazelFox

@TerrorAustralis I haven't had reflux with Wegovy but eating little and often really helped when I had it during pregnancy.

It likely is side effects, some people just don’t notice any until their second or third injection on that dose. Hopefully it’ll settle down but you could drop to 0.75 instead? How are you feeling now? 🫶🏻

Outnumbere · 20/08/2026 08:44

Thank you @Trumpton
I'm better now..Just a rough 24hrs.
Hopefully a one off.
If it's same next week I'll consider dropping down.
I'm doing this to feel better & give me more energy with my son. Defeats the point if I'm too ill to play

WoIsMe · 20/08/2026 09:06

Glad to hear you’re feeling better now @Outnumbere that sounds like a very distressing experience. Are you certain it was a medicine side effect or could you have been actually ill with something?

TerrorAustralis · 20/08/2026 11:44

@Astravanga I didn’t have full on reflux during pregnancy, but did have heartburn. I found a pinch of bicarb soda in water was often enough to neutralise it. But with this, it doesn’t touch it.

I got some chewable antacids that are having little effect. I think I need to get extra strong antacids or go onto something like Zantac if this keeps up!

@Outnumbere that sounds horrendous. I hope those symptoms pass.

TerrorAustralis · 22/08/2026 10:30

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

I now have a theory about my side effects, based on a comment someone made up-thread, ages ago. I’ve been alternating sides of the stomach to inject on. And my side effects seem to change week to week. So my theory is now, left side good, right side bad.

Not sure whether to keep alternating to see if the side effect pattern continues, or to try two weeks of left side to see if the side effects stay minimal & manageable.

Whatever you think works for you, keep doing it. I've had one day of side effects (nausea) coming into my 4th week. I've injected on stomach, thigh and leg, different sides.

WoIsMe · 22/08/2026 13:07

People do report personal effects of different injection sites. I’ve done thigh, upper stomach and lower stomach on both sides and the only difference I notice is a lingering pain at the injection site, and more likely to bleed at the thigh so I just rotate around my abdomen now.

I tried my thigh once and bled too, so have kept to stomach since.

blibblibs · 22/08/2026 22:30

I always bruise when I do it on my thighs.
I've done stomach the last two times without bruising but the weight loss has stalled a bit. Not sure if it's related, probably not. It's more likely that I need to go up to 0.5 but the constipation is still bad so I'm reluctant to increase, but I do need to order my 4th pen next week sometime so I'll need to make a decision.

WoIsMe · 23/08/2026 07:27

It’s my week 14 weigh in today and I’m down 14 lb / 1 stone / 6.5 kg! 💪

@blibblibs I’ve been mixing chia seed into yogurt each day and I bought some dates and prunes for snacks to help with constipation. It was pretty bad last week so I bought some Movicol but it’s horribly sweet which p it s me off it a bit. What have you tried to get thing moving?

blibblibs · 23/08/2026 11:41

WolsMe I have chai seeds every morning in my overnight oats and I definitely get my 5 a day. I've been taking senocot every day but it's making no difference. So I bought califig on Friday and that seems to have helped but I'm not sure I can take that all the time. I've also got stitches in my scalp which hurt like a bitch if I strain even a little bit!
I've lost 16lb in the last 11 weeks but I've been gaining and losing the same 3lbs for the last 3 weeks or so but I think I'll have to stay on 0.25 for another month while my head heals and my bowels don't move.
It's nice getting that first stone off though. Trousers fit better and jackets now do up comfortably.

WoIsMe · 23/08/2026 12:44

Clothes fitting better is a great feeling, isn’t it @blibblibs? I’m still the same size but I needed a belt on my trousers today as I was constantly hoiking them up.

TerrorAustralis · 23/08/2026 14:28

@blibblibs have you tried a stool softener as well as the laxative? It might help, just make sure you’re drinking plenty of water.

TicklishBiscuit · 23/08/2026 16:13

I moved up to .5 a couple of weeks ago and the constipation kicked in. I bought some prune juice and I have a small glass in the evening and that seems to help a lot.

Did you have any side effects on 0.25?

Not really. A bit of slight nausea and tiredness. The prune juice is definitely helping.

If we all started in June just wondering why the doses are on the low side for you all . I thought it was to go up every month . Currently on 1mg and honestly it is only now I feel any weight loss progress . But I do feel nauseous for the day after injection. I will finish the month on 1 mg but should I stay on it or continue to go up in dosage ?

Depends on how you can cope with the regular nausea. You can always give it a go and go back to 0.5 if it's too much. If you're losing more weight on this dose though, might be worth giving it another week or two?

I’ve done two months on 0.25 mg and I’m on my second month of 0.5 mg. You don’t have to move up a dose every four weeks.
