June 2026 Mounjaro Starters

rosecbrm · 28/05/2026 11:49

Hi all,

Ive bit the bullet and have ordered and been accepted to start mounjaro through Voy.

something I’ve been debating for a while but finally decided to try it. I had a baby last year and have managed the get back down to pre baby weight, but still have a bit extra to lose, I want to lose around 1.5/2st.

I regularly exercise through swimming a few times a week but diet is very up and down hence being at a standstill with my weight, so wanted the extra help to create some better relationships with food. I’ll be good all week and then ruin it in a few days with takeaways and snacks!

Nervous but excited!

Wanted to make this thread for anyone else starting their journey soon! Anyone else in the same boat?

Current weight: 12st 10 / 5ft5

Goldpanther · 09/06/2026 21:24

I've got my 4th jab at the end of this week.

I had the most horrendous diarrhoea and vomiting last night, but apparently it's normal in week 3? But it's put me off going up to 5mg so I am going to stick with 2.5 for my next order.

I'm down 2.7kg (6lb) in 3 weeks, which I am very pleased with. I have another 10kg to go, so I feel very optimistic I can hit my goal weight this year.

Mistymoomin · 09/06/2026 12:26

I took my first dose of Mounjaro on Sunday and about 3pm on Monday the cramps started and I was on the loo until the early hours. It took 3 Imodium to finally calm it down. I have made it to work today but I can feel it grumbling again, though I have only needed to go once. I also feel like I could happily never eat again right now. I’m even struggling to drink but I’m forcing down electrolytes. I was 1kg down from yesterday on the scales but I think that was mostly my soul leaving my body.

On Sunday I am going abroad to stay with family for a week, and while I can of course control how much I eat I won’t have much control over what I eat as they’ll dictate the meals. I’m thinking to not bother with the second dose and just start again when I get back. I can still fit in the remaining three within the 30 days even if I do that.

Has anyone else had this and can give me a bit of hope, as right now I really can’t bear the thought of feeling like this any longer!

I can’t advise on the travelling/ continuing etc but wanted to say that I had a pretty brutal start over the weekend with vomiting and headaches and feeling like I didn’t want to continue, but suddenly by Monday I felt a lot more acclimatised and have felt really great the past few days, so know never know, it could well calm down for you?

Dozymoo42 · 09/06/2026 22:52

Well officially took the plunge and did my jab tonight!

13stone 13 lbs starting weight -starting on 0.25mg ozempic ideally would like to get down to around 11 stone but what I really want to see is a difference in my blood sugar which is currently sat at 66.

edited to add in pen dosage

KittytheHare · 09/06/2026 23:03

Am so annoyed with myself! Went to do my third jab this evening, and the pen is almost empty! I knew I had mucked up the first dose but hadn't realised I had wasted that much. It’s €280 here got the 2.5mg pen, so I’m a bit gutted. I think I got about a half dose.
I have an appt next Tues at à pharmacy weight loss clinic, where I had planned to go up to 5mg, do hope that can still happen.
I only lost 600g this week, but added to last weeks loss that’s 6kg in total, so am happy with that overall.
Aaargh am so so mad about wasting that precious liquid! 😡

That's great progress so far!

I had to re read the instructions several times, I read the bit about priming, but it took me ages to realise the bit about giving the dose was on the other side of the leaflet. I could easily have just given myself the priming dose 😅

Aftertheharvest · 10/06/2026 09:20

A great first week for me - felt good and 4.4lbs lost. I know it’s likely fluid but feeling less bloated already. Have eaten healthily too but not deprived myself. Fingers crossed no change to side effects for week 2.

Oh no, that's a nightmare! I had been doing my OH's for him for months before I started so he was the guinea pig 😂
I watched a youtube video to make sure I was doing it properly the first time I did his which was helpful.
6kg is amazing progress, well done!

bananamachinewater · 10/06/2026 10:04

I had second dose last night...I don't know if it's my imagination but I don't feel the same suppression that I had after the first dose. Still able to make good choices but last week I had to force myself to eat for the first 2 days and only started feeling hungry again for the last 2 days.

Sleepeazie · 10/06/2026 11:18

Second dose today.

starting weight 12:7.2 and weigh in today 12:1.5, so almost 6 pounds. Very happy with that.

have calorie counted all week, but have averaged what I’d apparently need for a 0.5lb a week loss (1800 calories) and have had a few social occasions- so lots of alcohol.

concentrated on protein and taking my collagen too.

My best suppression days were Saturday and Sunday. Although it’s been there all week.

Lets hope the second week is equally successful.

TheLoupGarou · 10/06/2026 12:18

JuniperRosy · 09/06/2026 09:57

Just did my first weigh in and second jab, I’m 5.5 pounds down! I know some will be water weight/bloat as I was on my period last week but still really pleased. I also started to feel the hunger creep back in over the past couple of days, although managed to stick to my calorie deficit. Hoping that the suppression was last a bit longer with the second jab.

Are there any other veggies in the group? I’m finding protein a bit of a struggle.

@JuniperRosyi am not a proper veggie as I eat fish, but i don't eat meat. I am also struggling a bit with protein - having nuts and seeds with greek yogurt and fruit at breakfast. Adding chickpeas to salads for lunch (or tuna/prawns, but that is no good for you) and tofu/fish based stuff for dinner.
I bought high protein cottage cheese, but it tastes kind of like sadness.
Do you like eggs? I hate them, which is why they are not on my list.
On the plus side, i have no problem getting enough fibre...

sweetpickle2 · 10/06/2026 12:40

Second dose today, am taking 6.25mg out of a 12mg pen.

Haven't lost anything this week which is surprising, especially as I've gone from no jabs for months straight to 6.25. I've definitely been eating less and tracking my calories- hopefully there's a woosh next week!

Hi! How are you getting on with the side effects? I started on Saturday and I was great for the first two days, afterwards the sickness and trips to the toilet have been awful! It’s enough to stop me taking the second dose! Please tell me it gets better! I’ve hardly eaten and I’ve been drinking as much as possible!

I’m not a veggie but I do love veggies! I need loads of fibre to keep everything moving and I batch cook lentil dal every week for lunches. Easy to freeze in portions, or lasts a few days on the fridge. Sometimes add an egg or two cooked fresh. My version without any oil has 300 cals per portion and 17g protein and 10g fibre.

HelicoPie · 11/06/2026 08:20

Half way through week two and delighted to have passed the 13stone barrier. Now found to 12st 13 which is 8lb down. This stuff is magic!

Notweirdatall · 11/06/2026 17:42

I did my second dose today, and lost 8.5lbs which I am very happy with, even if some of that was a few days feeling off colour.

Hoping not to get the sickness etc in week 2 but feel much better hydrated and know what to expect! Onwards and upwards…

QueenStevie · 11/06/2026 19:01

I took my second dose on Saturday but I can feel the suppression wearing off today. I've actually been properly hungry today for the first time since I started and I had a small wispa when I got home as I couldn't wait for tea. I don't think I'm eating enough protein so I need to work on that. I've definitely been drinking more water though. I'm going to weigh in the morning and then third jab on Saturday morning. Going to have to use some willpower to get me through tomorrow I think especially as it's wine Friday!

HNAN36 · 12/06/2026 09:19

Week 1 complete. Just about to take my second dose.

SW - 80.15kg/12.8st
CW - 77.85kg/12.3st
total loss 5lb

Impressed with the results. I have been averaging about 1200 calories a day. I have given myself an eating window of 10:45am (my break at work) until 6pm. Then been averaging 20 minutes of exercise at home each day sometimes more sometimes less,

This is an example of what I have eaten:
10:45am: protein yogurt and protein granola
12:45/1:00pm: chicken salad wholemeal wrap or sandwich. Or honey mustard chicken pasta salad with protein pasta.
3:30pm: carrot and cucumber with hummous/ apple and protein bar/ fruit and nut mix
5:30pm: omelet/ chicken stir fry/ low fat sausages and Mediterranean vegetable roasted in the oven

I haven’t felt suppression but not massively 🤷🏼‍♀️ I think I will go up a dose. I have heard some people doing different doses rather than jumping up to 5, going to 3.75. Anyone done this or consider it?

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 12/06/2026 10:07

I’ve just done my third jab/second weigh in and I’m 7.5 lbs down in two weeks, and I’m delighted with that. I’m getting reminders to order my next dose…so interested in opinions! Does everyone go up to 5, or do some of you stay on the 2.5, if it seems to be effective? I have brought my last two injections forward by a day each so I could get to having the jab on a Friday as I wanted the highest suppression over the (tempting!) weekend. So 1st dose Sunday, 2nd Saturday, 3rd Friday (today). However, I’ve definitely noticed the suppression wearing off towards jab day! Seem to get 3 or 4 high suppression days, then o notice it creeping back? And I’m aware that I’ve been dosing every 6 days so far. Pondering if an increase to 5 would carry me over the full 7 days?

Could have written this exact post myself. I’m going back and fifth as ideally I don’t want to take more than needed, and do t want to completely lose hunger queues as I think long term that may make it harder to come off. I’m also not seriously over weight - in that camp
of trying to get from 13.5 stone to around 10. But, I am currently thinking…get the 5mg pen. But, take a slightly smaller dose (3.5) week one and see from there? It’s not a financial thing, I’m just keen to stick to the lowest effective dose.

Sleepeazie · 12/06/2026 10:33

I’m also unsure about staying on 2.5 or moving up to 5.

i have no desire to eat on days 3 and 4, but am definitely hungry ish on days 1, 6 and 7. Although i do get full quicker and so can stay in a calorie deficit.

I first tried mounjaro for 5 weeks back in Feb 2025, and (along with an issue with pen arriving defrosted) I had little to no suppression on the first week of the second pen - and I think this contributed to me giving up.

so my instinct, I think, is I will go up to 5.

im not having any side effects either, and can eat spice and fat etc

iluvlucy · 12/06/2026 10:44

Excuse me jumping in here but I might be able to offer some useful advice as someone who has completed their journey.
I started April 2024 at 96 kg . I reached goal 62kg and BMI 22.5 in January 2025.
So 5st 2.4 lb loss.
previously :

high bp
high cholesterol
Weight related osteoarthritis in knees
sleep apnoea.

All resolved . No medication for over a year. I maintain on 7.5mg.

The more you have to lose - will almost certainly correlate with how insulin resistant you are to start with. Which will inform how you move up the doses.

For me, this meant I followed the ‘instructions’ going up the doses after each pen until I was at the top 15mg. This also meant that I didn’t really get much suppression at all until 7.5mg and therefore little weight loss.. so if it’s not really happening yet - that is absolutely normal !
All the posts on here about people staying on 2.5mg and losing steadily is infact, very unusual. As 2.5mg is a therapeutic dose. Which means it’s not actually intended to have any effect at all except to introduce your body to the drug.

If you are lucky enough to be losing already - that’s great. However I would hate people who have just started their first pen and haven’t dropped a lb so far - to be disheartened or believe it’s not working for them to give up. It all depends on your own personal hormonal make up. Some will get all the effects on the lowest dose and many many more will need to go to the top to reach goal and titrate down to find the balance of controlled appetite not surpressed. In order to maintain.

My weight gain was not due to an unhealthy diet. I’ve always cooked from scratch and enjoy it. I just had way way too much of it.

Also - side effects. To read on here, you would believe they are inevitable. It’s not. I have never had a one. I have at least 15 friends on them that I know of - and none report or display any symptoms. So whilst all drugs can cause side effects, they are the exception rather than the norm.

rosecbrm · 12/06/2026 11:12

great to see everyone’s doing well!

Just in relation the the previous posts, I have just done my 3rd jab at 2.5mg and have lost 8lbs in the first two weeks which I’m really delighted with!

I’m actually going to stay on the 2.5mg dose for next month as at the moment, it is working for me. I don’t get a huge suppression past day 4, but I’m working hard mentally to change my behaviours towards food and snacking (which was the main reason I started), and that is motivating me enough to carry on with the same routine I have with the higher suppression the first few days after injecting.

I think it’s all relative to your own experiences, for me I want to try stick to the lower does whilst it working and I’m not getting many side effects and I’m losing steadily. I know this will plateau as time goes on and at that point will re-evaluate going up or not.

Goldpanther · 12/06/2026 14:03

I've just ordered my second pen I've stuck with 2.5mg because I am feeling the suppression.

I'm down 4kg (8.8lb) in 3 weeks and am very pleased!

Wishiwasatailor · 12/06/2026 15:48

3rd dose today and I'm 5kg down! I'm aware most of this will be water weight but I'm eating my protein, drinking more water than ever and aiming for 30g of fibre a day. Can't believe it's been so easy!

wisteriaoverbarefeet · 12/06/2026 16:14

Wow, some great losses! I’m jabbing tomorrow and currently 4lb down. Has anyone still had really high suppression on day 7? I have zero appetite and nothing sounds good to me, I don’t even enjoy the food when I’m eating it, such a weird feeling! My husband looks at me like I’ve gone mad when I try and explain it to him. I struggled to eat over 1000 the first few days but have managed 1300 - 1500 the second half of the week. Only a week in but I am loving it, it’s the most positive I have felt about losing weight in years!!
