Hi all,

Ive bit the bullet and have ordered and been accepted to start mounjaro through Voy.

something I’ve been debating for a while but finally decided to try it. I had a baby last year and have managed the get back down to pre baby weight, but still have a bit extra to lose, I want to lose around 1.5/2st.

I regularly exercise through swimming a few times a week but diet is very up and down hence being at a standstill with my weight, so wanted the extra help to create some better relationships with food. I’ll be good all week and then ruin it in a few days with takeaways and snacks!

Nervous but excited!

Wanted to make this thread for anyone else starting their journey soon! Anyone else in the same boat?

Current weight: 12st 10 / 5ft5

I'm not logging things on nutracheck or anywhere regularly. I will occasionally put something in there just to check how many calories to give me an idea but I have to make this sustainable for me in the future and I know I will never be able to be strict enough to log on a regular basis. I wanted to have a glass of wine last night and I wasn't going to but then I thought that I have to live as 'normal' as possible, otherwise I will never stick to it. As soon as I start being restrictive, I go too far the other way. I was proud last night though as DH opened a bag of fizzy sweets while we watched a film and I had 2 - only 2! Usually I would have scoffed loads.

I have realised, thanks to checking on nutracheck, that my supposedly 'healthy breakfast' of greek yogurt, granola, seeds and a drizzle of honey is over 500cals though so that's a bit of a bummer. Although I do think it's stopping me getting constipated so it's swings and roundabouts really.

I am so much enjoying the lack of focus on food all day. I am not constantly thinking about what's next to eat and that is what I wanted.

Sleepeazie · 07/06/2026 09:47

I had my jab on Wednesday a.m last week.

i immediately felt suppression and it has been even stronger the last 2 day.

ive eaten in a 500 calorie deficit everyday (apart from yesterday where it was around 200). I’ve also drank alcohol in largish quantities as I’ve had a couple of occasion’s.

The only side effect is heavy face sweating after lunch a couple of days and trapped gas.

im a daily weigher and am thrilled with the results:
w= 12s 7.2
th -= 12s 6.1
fri = 12s 5.5
sat = 12s 2.4
today = 12s 3.5 (so a little rise, after 7 cans of corrs yesterday no doubt).

it’s a wander drug.

I would recommend rethinking this. The key to being successful is knowing exactly what you're eating, protein and fibre especially as well as calorie content. If you're not losing or slowly losing further down the line, your tracking will help you figure out where the issue is. You're not aiming to eat as normal as possible to begin with, the reason we're all on this journey is because our normal eating is not 'healthy'. Tracking will make you think twice about everything you eat and eventually it will become habit. I'm 10 months in and i've been tracking since day one with nutracheck. I'm now going down to maintenance and still tracking. Never under estimate the usefulness of nutracheck :)

I think the opposite to this! But I eat the same thing for breakfast and lunch most days, dinner is different each day. I think the key to my success will be learning what my new portion sizes should be, and trying to be more intuitive.

I used to have 2 Weetabix with milk, 100g greek yogurt, chia seeds for breakfast everyday(like overnight oats, but with Weetabix). I'm learning this is too much so I've adjusted my portion to 1 Weetabix with milk, 50g yogurt, same amount of chia seeds and it's fills me up. Then when I come off I know this is my new portion size to maintain.

Hystersister26 · 07/06/2026 10:32

First week done and I have lost 3lbs. Really pleased with this and looking forward to what this week brings 😀

A tracking app will make sure you're aware of your protein and fibre intake, both of which are crucial! Calorie deficit is great however if you're not hitting the right amount of protein and fibre, you're going to see some really negative effects. It's not all about lower calories going in.

TheLoupGarou · 07/06/2026 15:02

First week done! I weighed myself this morning and have lost 4lb, i am really pleased!
I have been tracking what i eat, as i do find it hard to get enough protein - fibre no problem. Also making a huge effort to drink plenty of water.
I'll do my second jab later on as I am working today - waiting til my shift finishes just in case of any side effects.
I would normally be a real grazer - i haven't really felt like snacking at all this week. I also feel more satisfied after what is probably a 'normal' portion of food - just stopping eating when i am full feels like such a game-changer. It sounds ridiculous when i type it, but before i would have just absent-mindedly kept eating and cleaned my plate.

HelicoPie · 07/06/2026 15:44

Second jab. Weighed myself - lost 6lb in week 1! Starting weight 13st 7.

no side effects yet so let’s see how week 2 goes!

wisteriaoverbarefeet · 07/06/2026 17:27

I did my 1st jab at lunchtime yesterday and the suppression is high! Is that normal so early on? I am having to force myself to eat, nothing tastes good and I feel full after a few bites, only side effect is a slight headache but that’s probably from not having caffeine. I have a coffee the minute my eyes open, I look forward to it everyday but this morning, didn’t want it at all! How is everyone getting a decent amount of fibre? I’m fine with protein but really struggling to hit 15/20g of fibre.

Notweirdatall · 07/06/2026 20:47

I’m on day 4 now, having taken my first dose on Thursday and feel actually ok today after quite a rough weekend. I was very sick on Friday night and it then triggered a migraine which I struggled to shift - I’ve eaten much better today and tried an electrolyte which worked wonders!

Notweirdatall · 07/06/2026 20:51

@wisteriaoverbarefeet, I think the fibre is perhaps tough! I’ve been ok ish with protein so far but will have to work on how much I can tolerate as the suppression is highhh like you!!!

I have this for breakfast most days and it gives me 11g of fibre which is a good start. You can also add a spoonful of chia seeds to yoghurt, soup and salad - a teaspoonful gives you 1.7g of fibre. This week I have averaged around 22g of fibre daily and I think this breakfast helps a lot

@wisteriaoverbarefeet I have chia seeds in hot water with lemon every morning, it helps with bloating and metabolism and also has 1.7g of protein as @Hystersister26 says.

QueenStevie · 08/06/2026 20:21

I went for a massage after work today and the therapist asked me if I'd lost weight 😲

HelicoPie · 09/06/2026 08:04

After second jab appetite suppression still really high and no side effects. What are people thinking about moving to the next dose?

bananamachinewater · 09/06/2026 08:17

I'm delighted! 6lbs down in first week including a meal out and a bottle of wine over the weekend. Aware this is probably a lot of water weight etc and that it will slow down but I'm happy with that as don't want it to come off too quick anyway.
Had very high suppression at the start but have been hungrier since yesterday although definitely still able to make better choices on what to eat. 2nd dose due tonight. A bit annoyed at myself for not starting sooner 😅

JuniperRosy · 09/06/2026 09:57

Just did my first weigh in and second jab, I’m 5.5 pounds down! I know some will be water weight/bloat as I was on my period last week but still really pleased. I also started to feel the hunger creep back in over the past couple of days, although managed to stick to my calorie deficit. Hoping that the suppression was last a bit longer with the second jab.

Are there any other veggies in the group? I’m finding protein a bit of a struggle.

dinosaursroar1 · 09/06/2026 11:31

I did my first jab on Saturday morning. Got weighed this morning and was 6lbs down which has blown my mind a bit. I know most will be water but I’m so pleased.

I definitely need to work on eating more protein but the appetite suppression has worked so well I’m eating small portions so I don’t know how I could easily up it.

Nonononomaybe · 09/06/2026 11:40

So having not felt much suppression or any side effects after doing my first dose last week I weighed myself today to find I had lost just 0.2kg 🤣 so went on to do my second jab and realised that last week I only gave myself the 2 click priming dose. Idiot!
So let’s see how this week goes!

Mistymoomin · 09/06/2026 12:26

I took my first dose of Mounjaro on Sunday and about 3pm on Monday the cramps started and I was on the loo until the early hours. It took 3 Imodium to finally calm it down. I have made it to work today but I can feel it grumbling again, though I have only needed to go once. I also feel like I could happily never eat again right now. I’m even struggling to drink but I’m forcing down electrolytes. I was 1kg down from yesterday on the scales but I think that was mostly my soul leaving my body.

On Sunday I am going abroad to stay with family for a week, and while I can of course control how much I eat I won’t have much control over what I eat as they’ll dictate the meals. I’m thinking to not bother with the second dose and just start again when I get back. I can still fit in the remaining three within the 30 days even if I do that.

Has anyone else had this and can give me a bit of hope, as right now I really can’t bear the thought of feeling like this any longer!

Can I join you guys just received my first pen of ozempic been popped on it for diabetic reasons but the weight loss will be massively helpful for me as I am type 2.

Am a little nervous to do the first injection 😬 is there a specific time of day that is better? Was looking at doing it this evening.

Any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated 😊

justsaxy · 09/06/2026 16:20

This thread is for people on mounjaro, may not be able to advice you as it’s a different medication. I haven’t looked but there are likely some more specific threads that might be more useful :)
