Hi all,

Ive bit the bullet and have ordered and been accepted to start mounjaro through Voy.

something I’ve been debating for a while but finally decided to try it. I had a baby last year and have managed the get back down to pre baby weight, but still have a bit extra to lose, I want to lose around 1.5/2st.

I regularly exercise through swimming a few times a week but diet is very up and down hence being at a standstill with my weight, so wanted the extra help to create some better relationships with food. I’ll be good all week and then ruin it in a few days with takeaways and snacks!

Nervous but excited!

Wanted to make this thread for anyone else starting their journey soon! Anyone else in the same boat?

Current weight: 12st 10 / 5ft5

Excellent @HelenDenver !!

Has anyone had a really stiff pen?

My first one was fine, I could squeeze the plunger and hold it in place with one hand. But the second one has been really stiff and I could only push it down a little way before needing to manoeuvre around and push it down with my two thumbs. It means I’ve wiggled the needle around or pressed it into my skin too hard and I’ve had a decent bruise every week for the last month!

HelenDenver · 15/08/2026 10:15

Thanks both ❤️

Elvira, my pens have all been fine, easy to plunge.

Shortsally42 · 15/08/2026 10:44

@ElviraZoffany My current pen twists on itself but nothing moves so I just use the same needles as those for the 5th dose.

Probs you are having don't sound good..

ElviraZoffany · 15/08/2026 11:22

@Shortsally42 @HelenDenver

Well that gives me hope that the next one will be a smoother plunge and that this last one was the outlier!

HelenDenver · 16/08/2026 06:50

Side effects of 5mg seem ok so far. I was extremely tired yesterday and basically napped and read, but that may well have been heat and work stress. Stomach felt full even when I hadn’t just eaten which was a bit uncomfortable and felt nauseous first thing, but otherwise nothing too bad.

Seagullsandsausagerolls · 16/08/2026 11:35

@ElviraZoffany my current 5mg pen is like that. Thankfully I'm on my last week.

13.9 this week so another 1lb BUT I'm incredibly shocked that I've lost anything as I've eaten out twice and had pavlova both times. My friends don't know I'm on it as they're very judgmental about them (plus it's none of their business) so it was awkward.

Back to normal from today though. The eggy burps after were just not worth it,

HelenDenver · 16/08/2026 12:43

Bit less tired today and made it to the gym (though too nauseous to do weights)

Not that interested in food but managing to eat enough

HelenDenver · 16/08/2026 12:44

@Seagullsandsausagerolls I think pavlova is lighter in calories than other desserts, for the volume, especially if there are more berries and meringue to cream.

I have only told a couple of friends as I CBA to deal with any judging!

childfreebychoice · 17/08/2026 16:21

Not a positive update for me this week, with a 1lb gain.

I was in Edinburgh Wed-Sun so didn't expect a loss, but was really hoping to stay the same as I made the best choices I could, walked loads and even went to the gym twice while I was away. Onwards and upwards though, and I'm targeting a 3lb loss this week to make up for it (my average is 2lb). Wish me luck!

Start date: 15 June 2026
Starting weight: 18st 7lb
Current weight: 17st 7lb
Loss so far: 1 stone
Initial target weight: 12st 6lb

Hey guys! I’m tempted to restart my MJ journey - I stopped after my first pen as I had a sickness bug after week 3, and then on my 4th dose had a bad bout of diarrhoea which I put down the the MJ.

However, I think it could’ve been a multitude of things.

I lost 1stone after my first pen, and was so excited to continue but I think I just got scared and decided to quit without knowing exactly what caused the diarrhoea.

anyone else have this at all? Or stopped and restarted with any side effects?

ive managed to keep the 1st off after stopping at the end of June, but I wanted to continue to lose!

Glad you have posted again @rosecbrm and well done to have kept the loss off

I think we were unlucky to start it just as the heatwave started, which wasn’t good for general wellbeing even without any side effects!

rosecbrm · 17/08/2026 19:59

@HelenDenver thanks lovely, how are you getting on?

Very true! I think my stomach was probably still a bit unsettled from the bug also potentially!

I’m just scared to spend the money on it again and not get on with it I guess 🙈

Doing pretty well - I have just stepped up to 5mg and feel pretty hunger suppressed and a bit uncomfortable in my stomach but otherwise ok. I have lost 19lb so far which I’m really happy with!

rosecbrm · 17/08/2026 20:55

That’s amazing @HelenDenver👏🏼

Welcome back @rosecbrm!

This is only anecdotal but do you remember if you had eaten some high fat foods around the time you injected?

I've noticed a few people that have had this issue had eaten high fat foods for a one last hurrah. Not saying that was you but it might not happened again. We are all different though...

rosecbrm · 17/08/2026 20:57

Thank you @Shortsally42!

I had just come off holiday and took my fourth injection on the day we got back, so potentially could be related to just eating more etc before taking it.

I experienced the diarrhoea around 2/3 days after injecting!

I was the same as you, same symptoms about 2/3 days after injecting. I think it settled for me about 6 weeks in, and now I'm almost on my 4th pen and it hasn't returned.

HelenDenver · 17/08/2026 22:19

I’m not following my concentrations on shotsy or anything but I do think 2-3 days after might be the peak of the MJ in your system, as the prior dose dwindles and the new dose takes effect.

rosecbrm · 18/08/2026 06:48

yes I’ve read that too, was strange for me though as weeks 1 & 2 I had no side effects at all!

@Openmouthinsertfooddreams are very clear and could have really happened. I wake wondering if something happened. Or something happens during the day to trigger a memory and I have to try and determine if it was a dream or not 😂 it’s so weird. I remember this happening when I was given oral morphine years ago.

@JuniperRosykeep us posted on the side effects. I feel like my weight loss is slowing a bit and I think I will do 5mg after this pen. I have a holiday and 2 weddings coming up so decided to stick taking 3.75mg from a 5mg pen. The side effects were quite intense the first 3 weeks. I managed to get 6 doses of 3.75mg including the golden dose from a 5mg pen.

Oo where did you get a 5mg pen from that included the golden dose?

petitdonkey · 19/08/2026 08:07

Hi @rosecbrm - I made a thread on here from my sick bed after dose three left me knocked for six (on my holiday!!). Someone advised me to try splitting the dose so for a couple of weeks I did 1.25 on Monday and Thursday which worked out great for me. This week I did a full dose and was fine.

I feel my progress has been slow but then today I weighed and realised I’ve gone from starting weight of 13st 6 in early July to 12st 4 today- there’s no way I could have managed that kind of loss on my own!

rosecbrm · 19/08/2026 08:14

Wow that’s amazing @petitdonkey, well done you!

strange isn’t it, after my 3rd dose I came down with a terrible sickness bug (definitely that as daughter and husband had it), so I had a weeks break before taking my fourth dose where I had the bad diarrhoea.

splitting the dose is a good idea to see how your body tolerates it! I’m glad you seem to be doing ok with it now!

I need some advice, I’ve been here since the beginning but just been reading everyone’s updates. I started on 5th of June. I’ve lost 16lb in 10.5weeks ish. I felt great in the beginning, loads of energy, high suppression but the last few weeks, I don’t have a lot of suppression even in the first few days and the fatigue is flooring me - I’m napping most days around 5pm and my weight is fluctuating instead of just going down as it had been. I’m still on 2.5, took my dose on Monday and have 2 left plus the golden dose. I need to reorder but just don’t know whether to increase or stay on 2.5. I eat over 100g of protein, drink water and do all the things to stop you feeling so tired. My thinking is if I’m going to feel rubbish should I just go up and at least then the suppression should increase and the weight loss? Has anyone gone up to 5mg and felt completely fine? Should I do 3.75 instead? Sorry for the long post but my brain is Confused

HelenDenver · 19/08/2026 12:11

I went up to 5mg after 2 x 2.5mg needles and I felt a bit rubbish for a few days with fatigue and funny feeling tummy (wasn't sick but felt it). Doing OK now.

However, I didn't have bad or long lasting side effects on 2.5mg either so it may be that I react quite well.

16lb in 11 weeks or so doesn't seem bad - has there been periods where you haven't lost at all or has it been quite steady? I'm at 19lbs lost - started a couple of weeks after you but have loads to lose - so not super different.

Shortsally42 · 19/08/2026 19:26

@wisteriaoverbarefeet What's the rest of your diet like? Are you eating enough carbs? Carbs are your short term energy source. I see lots of people who are tired admit they have cut right down on carbs.

You wouldn't expect your car to go far without fuel (or electricity in some cases). Don't treat your body differently.
Of course you'll probably reply saying you are actually eating carbs too so 😊😊
