Hi all,

Ive bit the bullet and have ordered and been accepted to start mounjaro through Voy.

something I’ve been debating for a while but finally decided to try it. I had a baby last year and have managed the get back down to pre baby weight, but still have a bit extra to lose, I want to lose around 1.5/2st.

I regularly exercise through swimming a few times a week but diet is very up and down hence being at a standstill with my weight, so wanted the extra help to create some better relationships with food. I’ll be good all week and then ruin it in a few days with takeaways and snacks!

Nervous but excited!

Wanted to make this thread for anyone else starting their journey soon! Anyone else in the same boat?

Current weight: 12st 10 / 5ft5

I went up to 5mg last Friday, and my suppression is about the same as the 2.5, to be honest. I haven’t really eaten much at all, but I’m aware I’m not getting anywhere near enough fibre and protein. What’s everyone doing to hit those targets? I’ve been on the pen since 31st May and I’ve lost 1stone 3lbs, but I’m still at the high end of the obese spectrum, and need to lose another 3 or 4 stone. I’m conscious of muscle loss so really need to focus on getting the right macros now…but it’s hard when I just don’t fancy anything 🤷🏼‍♀️ anyone got any tips?

Sleepeazie · 16/07/2026 10:07

@TwoBigNoisyBoys i find scrambled egg and mushroom is my friend or a jacket potato with butter and cheese (on week 1 of 5mg this would have gave me cramps though).

i’m not great with fibre though, so am adding fibre bars and veg to help, but still falling short.

HelenDenver · 16/07/2026 10:09

@TwoBigNoisyBoys I am tracking on Nutracheck and find fibre harder than protein. M+S have a range of soft drinks called Pop Marks that have 7g of fibre per can which is useful on days where I am struggling to hit 30g.

HelenDenver · 16/07/2026 10:14

Prawns are practically all protein and quite easy to pick at (if you like them) from a packet of cooked ones in the fridge.

M+S have some nutrient dense crackers made of seeds that have 4.6g protein and 3.3g fibre for 3 - crisp and easy to eat, could pop a bit of cottage cheese on for more protein.

ETA I also eat the bean pouches - lentil-dhal type stuff

Good morning all ❤️ Week 4 completed and weighed in at 13st 8lb so 5lb lost this week which I’m amazed at! Jab 5 this morning and feeling fine. Worked hard to up my protein this week and drunk at least 3L of water daily. Hope everyone has a good week 🥰 x

Openmouthinsertfood · 16/07/2026 11:01

Hello everyone. I find I prefered the 2.5mg pen to the 5mg. Mind you, it's only my first week on 5mg?
I don't actually feel sick today!!! Yay!!! I am dying for a decent drink though. I have a nurse coming out to do a fasting blood test (Thyroid and to see how the Mounjaro is affecting my diabetes.)
Oh, you didn't see but she just turned up. I'm going to have a lovely drink of PepsiMax. 😃

HelenDenver · 16/07/2026 11:22

Well done @Chiffchaff7 and glad you have stopped feeling sick @Openmouthinsertfood

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 16/07/2026 11:44

Thanks for the replies, I’ve got some prawns in the freezer that I’ll defrost and I’m currently boiling some eggs! I’ve had my go-to breakfast (oats, chia, splash milk, Greek yogurt, chopped apple and blueberries with a drizzle of peanut butter) but I could only manage half of it. I know it’s not ideal, but does anyone use any shakes, protein powders etc? I’m juts worried that after losing this first stone I really need to examine my macros and ensure I get it right. I want to keep my muscle and face, if possible 😂

childfreebychoice · 16/07/2026 14:51

@TwoBigNoisyBoys Fibre One bars are my go-to when I'm low on fibre and for protein I snack on flavoured chicken breast chunks or protein yogurts. At lunchtime today I wasn't feeling very hungry, so I made a smoothie from Greek yogurt, chia seeds, a banana, frozen berries and a splash of milk - it tasted good and was high in nutrients, plus fibre and protein.

Openmouthinsertfood · 16/07/2026 14:55

Thanks Helen. I did a bit of housework and took a Sainsbury's delivery. Felt a bit off but no where near what I have been, so hopefully over the worst.

LetitGoDLP · 16/07/2026 16:38

@TwoBigNoisyBoys i have had the myprotein powder, they have fruit flavours that are clear, I don’t like milkshake or creamy drinks so they work for me although I’m starting to wonder if they are giving me heartburn so keeping an eye on that. Fibre is definitely the one I’m struggling with.
Weight loss is going great and 27.5lbs down in almost 7 weeks. Conscious this is a lot but I’ve a minimum of 8st to lose.

Openmouthinsertfood · 16/07/2026 18:37

Thank you LetitGoDLP, for the reminder. Have now sorted out a shake and protein bar. I was worried about lack of protein. I'm vegetarian so less options but also I've not been eating much anyway.
Congrats on the 2st down!
I realised why I didn't feel so sick today, I forgot to take my medication! 😂We'll see what happens tomorrow...

TheBlueDeer · 16/07/2026 18:58

If you don’t mind supplements, there are actually lots for fibre. The reality is, when in a large deficit you’re unlikely to be hitting ideal macros tbh, so don’t beat yourself up about it. For fibre there’s psyllium husk, chia seeds, fibre gummies, Biomel etc. when increasing fibre go low and slow as it can have the opposite effect and cause constipation if you increase too quickly (especially chia seed) and needs plenty of extra water too

TheLoupGarou · 15/07/2026 11:55

@petitdonkeyI felt most nauseous when going up from 2.5 to 5mg & found it was way worse when eating higher fat/cheesy/oily foods - also, drinking shed-loads of water (2-3L at least) really helped & it eased up a lot after the first half of the week.

I was away for a few days with dd10 and had to eat out - I tried to choose higher protein/fibre options & just chose 1 meal a day to be my main calorie intake and light snacks the rest of the time - e.g.
Brunch (cafe) - scrambled egg/bacon/slice sourdough toast/tomato & coffee
Snack - fruit pot/water
Dinner (restaurant) something like chicken kebab skewers/fries/side salad

I found i can tolerate a couple of glasses of wine as long as i stay well hydrated - I have two teens as well (boys) and honestly they pay hardly any attention to what i am eating/drinking - but you can always say your stomach feels a bit off or something if you don't want to tell them you are on MJ?

That’s so helpful- really practical advice, thank you! Have two very observant girls and one disinterested boy 😂

feel less nauseous today than I have been so hopefully I’m getting used to it!

I am almost at a stone loss. Just over 2 stone to go. I do feel like my weight loss has slowed and I was hoping to lose 2lb a week. Not sure I am ready to go up to 5mg as doing 3.75mg has come with worse side effects. I have just taken my third 3.75mg dose, I think I should be able to get 5 doses out of the pen. Also need to try the golden dose, again. I don’t think I was very successful. Has anyone bought some syringes to do this with?

I will see if the side effects settle more this week before ordering another pen 🙂

HelenDenver · 17/07/2026 10:31

Well done @HNAN36 ! I think you are averaging out at around 2lb per week? Take it easy with the side effects ❤️

Openmouthinsertfood · 17/07/2026 10:32

Good morning everyone. Can I share my good news? For the first time in weeks, I got a good nights sleep! I'm in the south and it's been too hot to sleep. Last night the temperature dropped and I got more than 2-3 hours, I feel like a different person! 😁
I hope you feel better today to all those feeling nauseous.

HelenDenver · 17/07/2026 10:37

@Openmouthinsertfood ah, that’s brilliant! Sleep makes such a difference.

I’m having a day off and getting my cut and colour done, yay!

It really does! Oh it's nice to get a new cut and colour. I hoe you enjoy you hair session. Just in time for the weekend. Is it a regular thing or a treat/reward?

I go about 3 times a year, and sometimes for a fringe trim in between. Love my hairdresser, we went through UCAS stress together as her youngest is the same age as my oldest!

Then I’m going into town for shopping - I’m having a bit of a beauty day. I shouldn’t buy new clothes for a bit with - hopefully - changing sizes… But I can’t slim out of eyeshadow and body lotion so that’s safe 😀

Oh so quite a treat? And a nice catch up too. I hope you find some nice lotion and beauty bits. Hopefully it's a bit cooler where you are and shopping will be enjoyable. Mind you, most shops have air con now don't they?

HelenDenver · 17/07/2026 23:31

I’ve had a lovely day! Got a serum and some foundation and a shimmer body spray (with a free gift of a little spf set)

And I walked nearly 18,000 steps and chose the lowest calorie option at The Real Greek that I could find on nutracheck. The peach Bellini doesn’t count as low cal 😀 but was lovely and I must have drunk 3 litres of water at least along the way.

Unisharp for the needles. It’s super easy. What went wrong last time?

Openmouthinsertfood · 18/07/2026 05:48

Sounds kike a lovely day Helen, and well done on the steps and choosing the low cal option!
Little sleep for me again tonight. Was too hot in my bedroom again and I just couldn't settle. Gave in and got up a while ago. I've had breakfast and just made myself a coffee to drink whilst Ancient Aliens (One of my favourite tv shows.) is on at 6am.

A671090 · 18/07/2026 09:19

4th injection on Thursday and the nausea is driving me nuts - I’m also feeling very fatigued I suspect because I’m not eating anywhere near enough.
Yesterday I had a weetabix for breakfast; lunch was a slice of French Stick about an inch thick with some cream cheese and a sliced cherry tomatoe (couldn’t face anything else) then last night was a piece of cod and some minted peas - couldn’t face the chips.
Ive said before I love cooking - always do everything from scratch but I don’t fancy anything at all!
I’m actually considering changing my injection day. I currently do it on a Thursday because I don’t work Friday, Sat or Sunday. But frankly the past three weekends have been a right off because I’ve felt so 🤒- so I’m wondering if I change it to Sunday night I can ride it through at work which will be a distraction!
Sorry that’s a real moan for a Saturday Morning!
