Hi all,

Ive bit the bullet and have ordered and been accepted to start mounjaro through Voy.

something I’ve been debating for a while but finally decided to try it. I had a baby last year and have managed the get back down to pre baby weight, but still have a bit extra to lose, I want to lose around 1.5/2st.

I regularly exercise through swimming a few times a week but diet is very up and down hence being at a standstill with my weight, so wanted the extra help to create some better relationships with food. I’ll be good all week and then ruin it in a few days with takeaways and snacks!

Nervous but excited!

Wanted to make this thread for anyone else starting their journey soon! Anyone else in the same boat?

Current weight: 12st 10 / 5ft5

Hi Helen, Thank you. That last 11 minutes of the match lasted so long didn't they?! 😂Congratulations on losing so much! I felt nausea in week 2, could hardly eat. Must admit, I did feel wierd all day the other day. Couldn't put my finger on it, just didn't feel 'right.' Maybe it was the jab? As for feeling sick, I used to panic if I felt nausea but I was surprisingly calm about it as I kept telling myself it meant the jabs were working and if it meant I was losing weight I could put up with it! 😅I hope you feel a bit better now, hopefully your symptoms won't hang around long.

Hi Sleepeazie, how are you finding the 5mg overall? I know you haven't been on it long. It's good your plateau seems to be ending. They're so frustrating!

HelenDenver · 06/07/2026 20:36

Thanks @Openmouthinsertfood I have had a big mug of tea and that has helped. Although I did then get the hiccups, much to DH’s amusement!! I will have an early night too, I think.

Sleepeazie · 06/07/2026 21:26

@Openmouthinsertfood i am overall okay on 5mg. My reflux has stepped up, so I’m really having to think about avoiding fat and spice.

I have some digestive enzymes, as I used to suffer from slow digestion - so I’ve been taking these before my meal the last 2 days, as they contain lactase to digest fat.
It’s helping with the discomfort but I’m still sulphur burping, just quite quickly after eating!.

Today is day 4 of my 5mg jab, and I’ve not been thinking about food- but I am managing full (smaller) meals at mealtimes.

I have just had a Bakewell slice (my first sweet treat craving on mounjaro). But one was enough and I savoured it, rather than hoovering it up.

Overall, I think 5mg was the right choice for me.

Midgetwithaplan · 07/07/2026 08:41

Morning, jab 3 due today. I've just weighed on and I'm 73.2kg so I've lost 0.9kg or 2lb in week 2. I've felt hungrier than I did in the first week, but only hungry enough to eat my meals, no snacking, if that makes sense. I had an email from Bolt asking me to order my next pen do I think I'm going to get the 5mg and potentially count clicks/use a syringe to do 2.5 or 3.75mg depending on how im feeling. Overall I've lost 4.3kg or 9lbs in 2 weeks.
In my head I have a target of losing another stone at least before September as I'm going on holiday and starting a new job with an old manager, so would rather be looking and feeling better about myself before then.

HelenDenver · 07/07/2026 08:43

Well done @Midgetwithaplan !

JuniperRosy · 07/07/2026 10:24

Jab 6 today, first of my second 2.5mg pen.

Another 1.8 pounds down, bringing my total loss to 13.2 pounds. That first stone achievement is within touching distance, hoping I can get there this week.

A NSV for the week, I wore a pair of jeans that were starting to feel a bit tight before MJ and now are much more comfortable to wear, and even have a bit of a gap at the back!

HelenDenver · 07/07/2026 11:22

@JuniperRosy that's great! As a similar NSV, I feel my gym leggings are a bit less of a struggle to get into these days :)

childfreebychoice · 07/07/2026 16:05

Yesterday was weigh in/ jab day number 4 for me and I'm another 2lb down. I had a weekend away with a few drinks and less control over food than usually, so I'm pleased with that!

Starting weight: 18st 7lb
Current weight: 17st 13lb
Loss so far: 8lb
Initial target weight: 12st 6lb

childfreebychoice · 07/07/2026 16:06

Well done @JuniperRosy Fingers crossed for the stone milestone next week!

Openmouthinsertfood · 07/07/2026 19:41

Thank you for your reply Sleepeazie. I haven't been too bad with the reflux luckily. I already take Omeprazole for GERD though I have had a couple of wakings with acid reflux. I have plenty of Gavascon in! 😅I recently bought Pepto Bismal, I know it's not specifiicaly for reflux but thought I'd try it as it's cheaper, and to see if it tastes better!
Well done everyone on all yoour loses! And the NSV! I did my first ever plank last night. 😁Did you get the email through from Mumsnet about an at home workout? The plank was one of the exercises suggested so I tried it. Didn't half hurt my back! Read this is quite common and means your back muscles are taking the strain instead of tummy muscles. I found a modified version, planks resting on your knees. I did it today and no hurty back, yay!
Hi Helen, how are you feeling now? Did a good nights sleep help?

HelenDenver · 07/07/2026 20:10

A plank! That’s brilliant!

I am feeling loads better today, thank you @Openmouthinsertfood Not sure if that was a jab side effect but if it was, they really haven’t been too bad in total for me.

Well done on the losses so far @childfreebychoice

I just smashed a new recipe - Joe Wicks Creamy Bean Mash from his Protein in 15 book. 9g protein and 7g fibre per portion, had it with fish and peas.

bananamachinewater · 07/07/2026 21:34

I’m due my 6th dose tonight and first from second pen but I'm going to delay it, I’ve had some weird virus for the last few days and had zero appetite at all!! Very strange symptoms, felt like the start of cystitis at first but didn’t come to anything then I had sore skin all down left side so thought maybe shingles but then that went away, no rash. Last night I had horrendous chest pain and had a funny turn thought I was going to pass out! Actually went to a&e it was that bad but obs all came back normal and they said they’ve had multiple people in reporting the same symptoms and it’s viral. I’ve slept all day today and still exhausted!!
Didn’t weigh in this morning so will try to do that tomorrow if I’m feeling a bit better. Hopefully delaying the dose doesn’t set me back any but I doubt it as I just can’t face food at the moment.
Well done everyone on their losses and NSV’s 🙌🏼

HelenDenver · 07/07/2026 22:10

Oh poor you @bananamachinewater that sounds rough!

Openmouthinsertfood · 08/07/2026 02:33

Oh bananamachinewater, that sounds nasty! I hope it passes asap for you. Have you been told not to take the pen if you feel ill? I was told that (And also not to take Merformin, a diabetes drug, if you feel ill. I've never been told that before in all my years of taking it. The nurse telling me says she hears that a lot!).

Helen you're a bad influence and made me buy a book. 😂I looked up Joe Wicks Protein in 15 and it said it has plant based recipies (I'm a veggie.) but I couldn't see the list of them. Spotted his Veggie Lean in 15 and bought it from the marketplace on Amazon for a few quid. Then I remembered I don't like cooking and avoid it as much as possible! 😅Lol. Seriously, I have been looking recently at veggie meal ideas so this wil be excellent. Looking forward to it arriving. Thanks for the tip off! 😃

HelenDenver · 08/07/2026 06:56

@Openmouthinsertfood i hope you enjoy the book! I think it was right to pick the other one - there’s quite a lot of meat and fish in the protein one.

HelenDenver · 08/07/2026 07:13

PS I went to take a pic of the recipe list but there isn’t one! Just the sections. Some of the lunchbox inspo and easy peasy dinners are plant based but they are all mixed in.

bananamachinewater · 08/07/2026 13:14

Thanks, I do feel a tiny bit better today but have still basically slept most of the morning and have zero energy/appetite!
I didn’t actually consult anyone about delaying, I just felt awful last night and couldn’t face doing my jag so decided myself to skip it.
I did weigh myself this morning and lost 4lbs this week which is up from the 1-2lbs I’d been losing the last few weeks, probably because I’ve been struggling to eat about 600cals for a few days with this virus. That’s a total of 1st 3lbs off which I’m really happy with.

bananamachinewater · 08/07/2026 13:15

I’ve actually resorted to buying lucozade for some calories today because I just can’t stomach food. I’ve also been going dizzy/black out every time I stand up so thinking blood sugar maybe a bit low from lack of food

HelenDenver · 08/07/2026 14:02

That’s awful! Definitely get some liquid calories if you can

Shortsally42 · 08/07/2026 16:24

Sounds horrible @bananamachinewater Hope you feel better soon!

NSV for me. My summer clothes from last year fit just fine (again). Quite relieved!

HelenDenver · 08/07/2026 16:44

well done @Shortsally42 !

littleraecloud · 08/07/2026 19:02

So sorry you've been so unwell @bananamachinewater hope it passes soon!

Jab 4 yesterday. After no movement on the scales last week I decided to be quite strict this week with keeping calories lower & today think I've made myself feel ill in doing so. The heat probably doesn't help.

Currently trying to stomach some dinner.

Nsv though is that the trousers I wore to work today felt definitely looser around the waist!

ElviraZoffany · 09/07/2026 07:08

I hope you feel better soon@bananamachinewater

I’m plodding through a slow loss week 3 and still struggling to eat well. I’ve gone right off all the good foods I ate continuously throughout the first couple of weeks and between the suppression, the aversions, feeling bunged up and bloated, a busy work week and the heat, I just can’t be bothered to eat. I’m actually going in to the supermarket today rather than shopping online, so I hope to be inspired and find something different to make.

I’ve noticed something strange this week. The flab on my arse and thighs has become very squishy rather than solid. I can grab it and squeeze it like a stress ball. It’s so weird. It doesn’t feel like it’s a part of me!

Right, I’m off to do 15 minutes on my new vibration plate to see if I can get my incredibly slow digestive system moving!

Chiffchaff7 · 09/07/2026 07:13

Good morning ☀️ Week 3 and 3lb lost making it 15lbs lost in 3 weeks. Weighed at 13st 13lbs and it’s the first time I’ve been in that bracket for a very long time. TW is 12st (I’m tall). Will see how I get on. Definitely in a good routine now. Jab 4 today and suppression still super high so will stay on 2.5 for as long as possible.

Hope everyone is doing well ❤️

ElviraZoffany · 09/07/2026 07:54

Well done @Chiffchaff7 that's a fabulous loss!
