Hi all,

Ive bit the bullet and have ordered and been accepted to start mounjaro through Voy.

something I’ve been debating for a while but finally decided to try it. I had a baby last year and have managed the get back down to pre baby weight, but still have a bit extra to lose, I want to lose around 1.5/2st.

I regularly exercise through swimming a few times a week but diet is very up and down hence being at a standstill with my weight, so wanted the extra help to create some better relationships with food. I’ll be good all week and then ruin it in a few days with takeaways and snacks!

Nervous but excited!

Wanted to make this thread for anyone else starting their journey soon! Anyone else in the same boat?

Current weight: 12st 10 / 5ft5

Some great results here! I am on week 3 of 5mg - I had obv started with 2.5, utterly mucked up the pen, so only got 2 doses of that. So officially I’m on week 6.
I’ve had great results thus far - my starting weight was 69.9kg (and I’m short, 5 ft 3). My current weight is 59.7kg, so à decent loss in six weeks.
I had been fairly side-effect free until this week, when I seemed to get a really strong appetite suppression with intermittent nausea. It’s nothing that will put me off - I think MJ is a miracle drug and it’s so rewarding to find previously snug clothes baggy.

Blythwind · 04/07/2026 21:44

Just finished my first pen, and used the golden dose.

Down from 14st 7 to 13st 5. No side effects so far other than constipation.

Ive got another 2.5 pen ready in the fridge but think I will go up to 5 after this one

Good morning. Everyone is doing great, it's so motivating to see everyone's losses. Does anyone else weigh daily or do you all just weigh once a week?
I weigh daily, but accept that some days I will gain. Yesterday was the first day I think I've eaten 'normally' since I started 2 weeks ago. We went for a day out at a national trust site and walked 25000 steps. We had a picnic with hummus and cocktail sausage with pitta bread, vegetable sticks and fruit, and then got a frozen pizza deal with fries and garlic bread for dinner. Was actually surprised I only gained 300g because my portions were basically the same as I would have eaten previously. I was also worried I'd have side effects but still have had nothing - no constipation, burps or nausea, but maybe a little fatigue.
Now need to decide what pen to order for week 5, might stick with 2.5mg as I've lost 4.5kg so far

HelenDenver · 05/07/2026 08:28

I am weighing myself about twice a week. Well done on 25,000 steps, that’s brilliant!

I think I will probably go a second month on 2.5 and see after that.

Shortsally42 · 05/07/2026 09:22

@Midgetwithaplan Yes I weigh daily when I'm being sensible.
I find weighing daily a really good way to maintain a weight. It also-ran helped me get used to small fluctuations.

That 300g could just a little fluid or inflammation from exercise. Doesn't sound like you've eaten more than the calories you'd have burned.

Shortsally42 · 05/07/2026 09:27

Great to hear so much good progress.

Does anyone have any NSVs (non scale victories)?

I have two. Firstly I can see some weight loss in the lower part of my thighs. It's also noticeable in jeans and I'm really pleased about that.

I've also become more interested in cooking different foods again. I lost the love for a bit so this is a good sign!

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 05/07/2026 10:03

@Shortsally42 my non scale victory is usually noticing my kitchen apron ties have a bit more length to them 😂 but I haven’t done any baking recently, (the only time I wear the apron!) so will need to check today.

I did a sneaky weigh in this morning and I’m officially one stone down, which I’m over the moon at! I’m going to mentally mark each half stone/stone as my ‘success’ guide, so I hopefully don’t get disheartened thinking about the big picture. I do have a loose big picture plan though. I have an interim goal I’d like to get to, which is my pre-cancer weight - I used to get weighed every week prior to the chemo session, so I know what I started out as before piling weight on during my treatment. After that, I think I’d like to aim for my goal, the ‘beginning of my relationship’ weight 😄 (the weight I was when I met my partner) as I felt pretty confident then. After that, I dunno…I’ll see how I feel. I was shocked yesterday when I looked up the NHS BMI recommendations…my ‘goal’ weight is still 2 stone overweight 😕

Anyone else setting mini/interim/final goals?

Shortsally42 · 05/07/2026 11:19

Like your nsv and your goals @TwoBigNoisyBoys

I have 3 goals. Weight at last weight I stopped at, weight that would mean I've lost 100 pounds since I met DP (most not on Mounjaro) then weight I just like the number of.

I'll be happy with any of those goals. The middle one sounds like the best to aim for.

Midgetwithaplan · 05/07/2026 11:27

My NSV is the packet of hobnobs in the kitchen. They've been open for a week, I've had 2 on thr first night they were opened and I haven't been back to them. They'd normally be gone in 1 sitting!
My kind of scale victory is getting below 74kg, it sounds daft when it's still 6kg overweight but it's the weight where I start to like my body, I can look in the mirror and see a waist, some definition I my back and fewer rolls of fat everywhere!

HelenDenver · 05/07/2026 11:44

@Midgetwithaplan ooh good one! Mine is a very nice looking bar of chocolate from Waitrose which I got with a voucher and which has sat untouched in the fridge since I’ve been on Mounjaro.

ElviraZoffany · 05/07/2026 12:16

@Shortsally42 Yes, I weigh daily just to make a habit of checking in with myself and the plan. It does mean you have to chill when it goes up a bit though.

Jab 3 Day 2 and I’ve made it to a 10lb loss. I wonder if I can lose another 4 over the next 2 weeks and make it a round stone off for pen 1?

Unlikely, as I’ll be on holiday for the last week but I can try!

Third jab doesn’t seem to have had as strong an effect as the second so far.

Hystersister26 · 05/07/2026 13:18

6th jab due today however drank too much wine last night so might wait till tomorrow when I feel less queasy. I didn't manage to force the dial round last week for golden dose but bought some syringes instead. I took 3.75 last week and will do the same this week, next pen will be a 5mg.

Had stayed the same last week but this week have lost 5lbs which I'm guessing is over the 2 weeks. Total loss is 12lbs.

I mentioned earlier in the thread that I was on mounjaro to help shift post hysterectomy weight gain so I could wear the dress I had bought for my son's wedding this week. I'm pleased to report it fits and I feel comfortable in it. I am 12 weeks post op and feeling a lot more like myself again.

HelenDenver · 05/07/2026 13:21

Aww so glad your dress fits @Hystersister26

Good loss @ElviraZoffany and fingers crossed there’s lots of light and lovely food on your holiday.

I took jab 3 yesterday and I didn’t get a headache this time so that’s good.

TheLoupGarou · 05/07/2026 14:20

@Hystersister26that is brilliant news re: dress! Really glad it fits 🎉
Jab 6 for me today - week 2 of 5mg.
I lost just over 1lb this week, which I am very happy with as I was away for a few days and eating out/had a few drinks.
Start weight 13st 11.6 lb current weight 13st 0.5lb (11.1lb total in 6 weeks)
REALLY hope I can get into the 12st bracket this week 🤞 part of me wishes it was coming off a bit quicker, but the way things are at the minute feels sustainable. I will stick with 5mg for my next pen i think.

Non-scale victories - my face definitely looks slimmer and all my clothes feel a bit looser - i am wearing a bra today that was way too tight 6 weeks ago! I've also been getting back into cooking - my ds13 said "mum, you are suddenly making loads of really nice things" 🤣 so I will take that win!

ElviraZoffany · 05/07/2026 18:23

That’s amazing @Hystersister26 !

I can’t wait until I feel a bit better in my clothes.

Wigwambam65 · 05/07/2026 18:57

My MJ has just arrived - it’s in the fridge till I decide when to take it. I’ve a couple of questions if you don’t mind - I haven’t read the whole thread so apologies if this is covered already.

how long does it take to feel the effects? I work in an admin job towards the end of the week. Am thinking if I am going to feel a bit off I would rather that happened on the days I am at work.

Is there a better time of day to take it Ie morning/evening/just before bed ?

Starting at 11st 7lbs
Would like to be 10st

bananamachinewater · 05/07/2026 20:23

My goal was to fit into some of my pre-pregancy clothes (DS is 3 in November 🤦🏼‍♀️) and also to feel good in my wedding dress in September.
NSV was my sister commenting today that I look great and she could tell I’ve lost weight 🙌🏼 we were out for lunch and felt really comfortable in jeans, albeit they are still 2 sizes bigger than pre-pregnancy 😂 but it’s a start because 2 months ago those jeans were uncomfortable.
Think I will try my wedding dress on again maybe next week and see where I’m at.

I think this is something that varies so much from person to person that it’s impossible to say…I felt superhuman for 3 weeks, no negative side effects and zero food noise from the morning after first jag. After 4th/5th dose I’ve had some nausea and diarrhoea/constipation on and off throughout the week. Some people feel some negative side effects immediately.
Personally I take mine in the evening but I don’t think it would make much difference to me now, I just took the first one then because I wanted to go to bed and not think about it.
I do think that because it’s a jag people overthink it a bit more because it feels extreme? If it was a tablet people would prob just take it and see how they feel.

I’m wondering about just getting started at bedtime tonight … I’ll decide in the next half hour or so 🤔

Openmouthinsertfood · 06/07/2026 04:39

Good morning. Anyone else awake after watching the footie? I must admit, I have insomnia so was awake anyway. It was so tense I kept having to change channel and back again to check the score! 😅
Wow, just catching up, some really good losses and NSV!
I weighed yesterday, I could have lost between 3/4 of a pound to 2lbs. (As last week I kept getting different results on the scales.) I just took dose 4, 2.5mg, of my first pen. Injected in my stomach again this time and feel slightly nauseas again already so hopefully it'll work this week! I go up to 5mg next Monday.
I've lost 7 1/2 lbs so far. I have stopped taking Gliclazide (Upon medical advice.) as it kept giving me hypos. Found out it causes weight gain anyway!

HelenDenver · 06/07/2026 07:08

@Openmouthinsertfood congrats on losing more than half a stone, yay! Fingers crossed the change of meds helps too.

ETA I didn’t watch the footie but I woke up at 4am, checked the score and was most confused it hadn’t finished. Then I couldn’t get back to sleep until it did!

HelenDenver · 06/07/2026 07:16

Delayed weigh in as I was away yesterday - lost 1.7kg in the last 8 days, hoorah! So that’s 3.8kg/8.4lb so far.

(which is a whole baby DS1 😀)

Sleepeazie · 06/07/2026 08:59

Some great losses. I had my my first 5mg jab on Friday. After 1 month on 2.5, and it seems to have broken my mini plateau.. as I’m down to 11:13.4, which I saw 12 days ago, but then immediately put 1lb on that wouldn’t shift 🙌

HelenDenver · 06/07/2026 17:00

Feeling a bit nauseous and weird today, first time that’s really happened.
