Hi all,

Ive bit the bullet and have ordered and been accepted to start mounjaro through Voy.

something I’ve been debating for a while but finally decided to try it. I had a baby last year and have managed the get back down to pre baby weight, but still have a bit extra to lose, I want to lose around 1.5/2st.

I regularly exercise through swimming a few times a week but diet is very up and down hence being at a standstill with my weight, so wanted the extra help to create some better relationships with food. I’ll be good all week and then ruin it in a few days with takeaways and snacks!

Nervous but excited!

Wanted to make this thread for anyone else starting their journey soon! Anyone else in the same boat?

Current weight: 12st 10 / 5ft5

Impressive weight loss everyone. I am still in week one, and feeling OK.

I hope to stay on 2.5 dose for a long time. interestingly, no side effects, so far.

Lost 3 lbs today, but guess that is water. Next week should be more interesting.

Is anyone else out there in their 70,s.?

Wow! Only just 30-40 minutes ago took my 5th dose, 1st dose of 3.75mg. Feeling so nauseous. Is that even possible? How quick did you all get side effects? I didn’t really feel nauseous with the 2.5mg dose, even the first time I took it.

I think because it goes straight into your blood stream, side effects will be quicker than a tablet. Hope it passes soon x

Early weigh in for me (usually Sunday) as we are away over the weekend, and I have lost another kg despite a fancy lunch out this week. And my BMI is now just below 40, woo hoo!!

Wow this is really good! Are you exercising aswell?

Wow this is really good! Are you exercising aswell?

Yes - gym around 3x per week, using the exercise bike and a few of the weights machines. I was doing that reasonably consistently before MJ though so I always have that habit, which is good!

AplineDaisies · 03/07/2026 12:09

Hello
Can I join? I had my first dose last Friday of Mj. I'm stunned to have lost 7lbs. I guess it's water mostly
I've not had time to put proper eating plan or exercise in plan though so that's not good.
This week is also going to have little space to think but I am off cakes, biscuits and crisps.

HelenDenver · 03/07/2026 12:13

Welcome @AplineDaisies and great first week loss!

Openmouthinsertfood · 03/07/2026 15:13

Hello everyone, sorry I just disappeared. There were some men outside digging and drilling on Monday and all of a sudden they go quiet (It was between 2-3pm so not clock off time.) and I lose my tv channels (Sky puck.) Internet is gone too. Manage to get in touch with Sky, there is indeed a fault outside and it's affecting the whole block and an engineer will be out within 24-48 hours. I knew it was the workmens fault! I was soooo bored without tv and internet. 😅
I'm going to catch up with what I missed, might take me a while, I think there's a few pages.
I took my third 2.5mg dose on Monday. I did it in the thigh rather than the stomach to see if it would help with the nausea. It certainly did, so well that it's not working this week! All my cravings are back and I only have an appitite for sweet food. I've also been proper belly rumblingly hungry a lot. I have one more 2.5mg dose to go next week then onto the 5mg so if no joy nnext week, hopefully the higher dose will do something.
I also bought a kettlebell, only 2kg but I've been practicing my kettlebell swing. It's so hard not to power yourself from your hips and use your thighs instead! 😅I also bought a treadmill that has arrived today.
Is anybody else dreading the next heatwave? I've seen different predictions for my city from different weather forecasters. One would be hot but I could handle it, the other is back up to the early 30's! 😲

HelenDenver · 03/07/2026 15:18

Oh no, no internet is a nightmare! We will have that next week when they are digging things up for the electricity, but I’m going to go into the office and leave DH to deal with it 😀

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 03/07/2026 19:52

Hi everyone, I’ve did my weigh-in this morning, and I’m 12lbs down since the end of May, so I’m really chuffed with that. I’ve just had my 1st 5mg jab. I was going to do 3.75, but decided to bite the bullet and go for the 5 instead. Almost straightaway I’ve had a funny kind of burny feeling in my tummy, but no idea if it’s a side effect or just because I’ve had two small Jack Daniels and Diet Coke 😂 anyway, hope youve all had a good week, I’m enjoying seeing all your stories and progress 😊

LetitGoDLP · 03/07/2026 19:54

@HelenDenver sp great you’ve gone under 40! I love a bracket change. I’ve worked out where I need to be to be just overweight rather than obese now so that’s my first target made.

HelenDenver · 03/07/2026 21:28

Thank you @LetitGoDLP ❤️

well done on your loss since May @TwoBigNoisyBoys

HelenDenver · 04/07/2026 07:14

Jab 3 today then I will weigh again Monday morning as we are away. Need to fill out my questionnaire in the next few days to get the next pen and decide if I want 2.5mg again.

(I collect mine from a clinic so don’t have to worry about post)

ElviraZoffany · 04/07/2026 08:19

Well done everyone!

Jab 3 for me today too. And a 3lb loss this week, so 9lb off in two weeks.

I think I’ve got the hang of this now - two days eating barely anything, two days eating a modest amount and two days eating pretty well. I must plan meals and shop accordingly so I can keep up with protein and fibre in each of those phases - feeling a bit bunged up today!

I’ll be going away in the middle of week 4 and it’s going to be scorchio ☀️ so I had planned to skip the week 5 jab rather than carry it around with me as I’m travelling to two destinations. I don’t want to ruin a brand new pen if it overheats but most of all, I don’t want my kids to see it and I imagine I’d have to show it to airport security. I’m going solo as DH is working, so I can’t afford to have any side effects and we’re attending a big event that I want to enjoy.

Does this sound sensible?
What are others experiences of skipping a week? Will I be ravenous and put it all back on?!

HelenDenver · 04/07/2026 08:45

@ElviraZoffany are you flying from a uk airport? I believe that they all now don’t require toiletries to come out of bags (this is true for LHR and LGW but do check others!). However, this may not be the case on your flight home

HelenDenver · 04/07/2026 08:49

I find the merchant gourmet pouches (dal, tomatoey lentils etc) really helpful for quick and easy protein and fibre - you could sling a couple in your holiday case if you like the sound of them.

HelenDenver · 04/07/2026 08:52

If you have your next pen already, could you take jab 4 from that, leave it at home in the fridge, and then take your current pen with you to use the last dose as jab 5? Then you could bin the empty pen and not bring it back. It means both go a little way past 30 days so it depends if you are comfortable with that.

ElviraZoffany · 04/07/2026 09:23

@HelenDenver Oh you're good! That would be a plan. I just counted up the days and both would be last used on day 29. My brain says this can’t be right though (I do have dyscalculia)!!

5th jab due 18 July (on holiday)
First pen 20 June / 27 June / 4 July / 18 July
Second pen 11 July / 25 July / 1 Aug / 8 Aug.

Funnily enough, I’ve just discovered the merchant gourmet pouches too. I might take some with me, thanks!

ElviraZoffany · 04/07/2026 09:25

I have kept it in the fridge since day 1 and already have the second pen ready in there too.

No, that’s right! Sorry. Even better! So you will have used the original pen on its day 1, day 8, day 15 and day 29. And then the new pen on its day 1, day 15, day 22 and day 29.

(am glad we did this calculation as I think I will need to do similar in early September when I’m traveling!)

ElviraZoffany · 04/07/2026 09:43

Excellent! That would make it so much easier to manage, especially if LHR won’t need to check it on the way out. I just need to hide it in the fridge for a couple of days then.

dinosaursroar1 · 04/07/2026 11:05

Well done on some amazing losses everyone! Just catching up after a hectic week.

End of week 4 weigh in and I’ve lost 18.6lbs so far, which I’m really happy with. Started my second pen this morning, so jab 5 of 2.5mg.

I’ve bought some weights to try to do some arm exercises every day as my biggest fear is ending up with lots of loose skin on my arms.
I really need to work on upping my protein but finding it a bit of a struggle. I do eat meat but I’m not the biggest fan of it so have quite small amounts with meals so want to try to find some easy ways to add extra in. I’ve seen a couple of you have suggested chia seeds added to yoghurt so will pick some of those up next week. I’ve also bought a protein chocolate mousse to try as that’s 20g of protein per pot, hopefully it will be nice but I’m a bit fussy about things like that so expecting to find it inedible 😂.

HelenDenver · 04/07/2026 15:05

Do you eat fish @dinosaursroar1 ? Pre cooked salmon fillets and the m and s prawns with grains and edamame work well for me on protein.

dinosaursroar1 · 04/07/2026 15:17

@HelenDenver I’m not a huge fish eater but I do love prawns. Thank you! Absolutely would not have realised they were so good for protein if you hadn’t suggested them

Seagullsandsausagerolls · 04/07/2026 17:32

After all the drama with Med Express my pen arrived on time.

Fifth injection tonight and I'm down to 14s, not a huge loss but I seem to be averaging about 1.5lb a week which is a respectable loss, guess Im impatient especially when I see people losing so quickly!

Honestly that’s a great loss…only my first week was a bigger loss which I assume was water weight, the rest has slowed to somewhere between 1-2lbs.
Well done 🙌🏼 think of it as a long game!
Losing too quickly will also mean more muscle loss and potentially more loose skin as well
