Hi all,

Ive bit the bullet and have ordered and been accepted to start mounjaro through Voy.

something I’ve been debating for a while but finally decided to try it. I had a baby last year and have managed the get back down to pre baby weight, but still have a bit extra to lose, I want to lose around 1.5/2st.

I regularly exercise through swimming a few times a week but diet is very up and down hence being at a standstill with my weight, so wanted the extra help to create some better relationships with food. I’ll be good all week and then ruin it in a few days with takeaways and snacks!

Nervous but excited!

Wanted to make this thread for anyone else starting their journey soon! Anyone else in the same boat?

Current weight: 12st 10 / 5ft5

Thank you for sharing your long term weight loss @durdledorisI read through so other threads before starting. It was helpful to read others journeys.

Well done everyone, great losses. I will be having my 5th dose on Friday. I am going to try 3.75mg.

I have been having protein yogurts and granola (both from Aldi) for breakfast with fruit to up my protein intake. I am not a vegetarian but never been a huge meat eater. Also got some protein bars but only use as a snack when I am on the go at work. Also used a high protein pasta from Tesco to make a pasta salad.

Mostly just been eating smaller portions of what we eat as a family. I love cooking and cook mostly from scratch so easy to calorie count and we do eat fairly balanced meals anyway. Although I don’t feel like eating a great deal anyway.

Oh no @rosecbrm! Maybe try a different form when you’ve recovered from the experience.

@JuniperRosy @littleraecloud I have an unfortunate sloth-like system, so everything tends to hit me harder - alcohol, hangovers, medication side effects. I can well imagine I still had a decent amount left of the first jab when I took the second. I’m going to make a huge effort today to feed up so that I can exercise and stoke the furnace a bit in the hopes of processing it better!

Products like Huel have never been on my radar because I can’t tolerate artificial sweeteners (I’m a bloody nightmare, me!) but I’ll look into it. I think an unflavoured protein powder might be my best option.

@HelenDenver Thanks for the reminder, I had some in the back of the cupboard, so just had some with some Fage yoghurt.

I'm the same as you, feeling the effects on 2.5mg and can't stand artificial sweeteners/flavours or the taste of protein powders.

I have the same breakfast most days to try up my fibre intake- I mix 1 Weetabix, 100ml milk, 1tbsp chia seeds (like overnight oats) then top with 100g full fat greek yogurt, and eat about 100g raspberries on the side.its about 400 calories and 10g of fibre.

Raspberries are a really high fibre food (expensive though)

Then I am exceptionally boring and have chicken, avocado, peppers and maybe a small wrap for lunch most days that's about 50g protein and 10g fibre.

HelenDenver · 30/06/2026 20:33

I have overdone it on the protein today by about 20g after all my wise words 😀

Notweirdatall · 30/06/2026 21:35

I had no idea raspberries were quite so good for fibre @Goldpanther - I have them in the garden - will go and pick
now!!! 🍇

Shortsally42 · 01/07/2026 04:12

On the fibre front, would definitely recommend some soluble fibre too. It helps to prevent constipation. Pears, sweet potato and oats are some examples.

Good news for me. I'm no longer in the obese category. BMI is 29.8 but I'll take it!

LetitGoDLP · 01/07/2026 06:17

That’s great @Shortsally42

ElviraZoffany · 01/07/2026 08:03

I did better yesterday: 800cal, 18g fibre, 46g protein. And I feel much better for it this morning too. A cooked lunch and light dinner is the way to go for me.

Week 2, end of day 4/start of day 5 (jabbing at lunchtime is a pain to keep track of!) and I feel hungry this morning.

@Shortsally42 Yay! 👏 Well done!
@Goldpanther That sounds like a great meal. I’m planning my food shop today, so will incorporate some of these suggestions.

HelenDenver · 01/07/2026 08:06

Oh, yay that you feel a bit hungry and managed a bit more food!

bananamachinewater · 01/07/2026 10:03

I tend to find the less I eat, the less hungry I am if that makes sense? If I have something first thing, it seems to set me up for eating better throughout the day.
Also I am very boring at the moment...lots of chicken, rice and veg with a bit of seasoning chucked on. Made some turkey mince to have with rice or pasta and veg too. I much prefer a cooked meal. Usually have a protein yoghurt for breakfast and then 2 cooked meals. Fruit if I want a snack.
Also picked up a few M&S Count on Us meals to have when I'm short of time/can't be bothered. The braised steak and root veg mash one is lovely!

Shortsally42 · 01/07/2026 12:43

@bananamachinewater I'm the same. If I happen to skip a meal it's much easier to skip the next.

I make myself eat at regular times. I know otherwise I'll slump. Like fuelling a car, can only go so far on an empty tank

I still enjoy eating and aim for 1700 calories a day. I know in a few months time I may feel completely over food, as I did last time but hoping the effect isn't as bad second time around....

Imo it's worth getting into good habits with eating on Mj. Otherwise down the line you may find yourself more tired, more side effects on hair and nails etc.

Hope everyone is still doing well.
I was wondering what people's motivations were for losing weight.

For me, it's about the risks of obesity. Obesity is such a contributing factor to so many diseases. I also don't want to be the fat one at work. Being healthy makes work easier.

LetitGoDLP · 01/07/2026 16:35

My reasons are plenty, my children deserve more and at over 19stone there are definitely things I wasn’t able to do with them, I need to live a much healthier life. The associated health risks of being larger, I’m in my 40’s and healthy so far but do not want to be fat at 50. Also, we are theme park fanatics and there are some restraints that aren’t comfortable verging on being unable to ride. I do not want to be doing the walk of shame because I was too fat to ride! I’ve recently started working as a TA and children speak their mind…

HelenDenver · 01/07/2026 19:46

A few… the person I see in the mirror doesn’t match the “me” I have in my head. I’ve been overweight most of my life but it kicked up with various meds and peri over the last few years, so I want to change that now, plus the kids are older and I have more headspace. Also, it would be nice to snore less 🙂

Great question @Shortsally42

M4trafficisfunnot · 01/07/2026 20:09

Hi I’ve been researching this for a while and even gone through the whole thing on the voy website. A few things are confusing me - if you sign up for 12 months and it says like £129 a month for 12 months that is only for 2.5 so as you increase does the amount increase? If you pick a 12 month plan - what happens if you have to stop eg ill or poor reaction ? TIA

ElviraZoffany · 01/07/2026 22:51

@Shortsally42
Because I’m avoiding life.

I don’t go out if I don’t have to. I hate having to dress for events that are supposed to be enjoyable. I’m embarrassed to be around other people because of my size. I don’t “wear the shorts”, I wish I could throw on swimmers and enjoy the pool. I’m setting a bad example for my kids and I want to be a happy, confident mum for them, and I want to stay alive as long as possible for them.

How I am now is not how I want to be remembered.

A671090 · 02/07/2026 07:19

2nd jab today. I weighed in this morning. I am 5.5lbs down. So I’m delighted with that but not sure if it’s too much (never happy) and I don’t think I’m eating enough.
I felt super nauseous over the weekend and that still comes in waves.
I also want to up my exercise! Joined gym on Monday so plan to get there over the weekend!

HelenDenver · 02/07/2026 08:31

Well done @A671090 I lost 4.6lb in the first week so I don’t think that sounds too much. I think a lot of people lose that sort of level in week 1 and then less the week after.

Nonononomaybe · 02/07/2026 15:26

3 and a half weeks in and I have lost 3.5kg, slow and steady and it’s so nice not to think about food all the time!

Chiffchaff7 · 02/07/2026 16:44

Week 2 and 5lb lost. Making it 12lbs in 2 weeks which I’m pleased with. Jab 3 this morning and feel fine, think my body is getting used to it now. Still struggling with food aversions and zero appetite but in a routine now and seem to be managing. Will see what this week brings. Hope everyone is doing well xx

littleraecloud · 02/07/2026 19:35

Wow amazing @Chiffchaff7 that's a massive loss!

HelenDenver · 02/07/2026 19:42

Was feeling a bit weak and tired tonight so I had a toasted protein bagel and it really helped. I guess I have cut back a lot on toast, bagels, crackers, pasta… my pre MJ diet was carb-heavy vs now!

HelenDenver · 03/07/2026 06:42

Early weigh in for me (usually Sunday) as we are away over the weekend, and I have lost another kg despite a fancy lunch out this week. And my BMI is now just below 40, woo hoo!!

HNAN36 · 03/07/2026 07:35

Well done @HelenDenver

We go away in 7 weeks so would be great to get into the 10st bracket 🤞🏼

HNAN36 · 03/07/2026 09:38

Wow! Only just 30-40 minutes ago took my 5th dose, 1st dose of 3.75mg. Feeling so nauseous. Is that even possible? How quick did you all get side effects? I didn’t really feel nauseous with the 2.5mg dose, even the first time I took it.

Sleepeazie · 03/07/2026 09:45

I’ve had an unimpressive last 2 weeks. Having started at 12:7.2 I got down to 11:13.2 but have hovered around 12:0.2 all last week.

I was due to start a new pen on Wednesday, but I didn’t due to bathroom work, a sthats where I take my jab (peace and quiet, away from kids and cats).

Yesterday I could have ate a horse, and came in 500 calories over maintenance. I was also craving carbs. I am possibly pre-menstrual (feel like it, but in Peri so who knows 😂).

Ive weighed in this morning at 12:2.5. So that 2 -3 pounds will be water and inflammation no doubt.

Anyway, I’ve just opened my new pen and have taken my 5th jab, for which I’m very increased to 5mg. Lets hope I have a better week.

Hows everybody else doing?
