June 2026 Mounjaro Starters

rosecbrm · 28/05/2026 11:49

Hi all,

Ive bit the bullet and have ordered and been accepted to start mounjaro through Voy.

something I’ve been debating for a while but finally decided to try it. I had a baby last year and have managed the get back down to pre baby weight, but still have a bit extra to lose, I want to lose around 1.5/2st.

I regularly exercise through swimming a few times a week but diet is very up and down hence being at a standstill with my weight, so wanted the extra help to create some better relationships with food. I’ll be good all week and then ruin it in a few days with takeaways and snacks!

Nervous but excited!

Wanted to make this thread for anyone else starting their journey soon! Anyone else in the same boat?

Current weight: 12st 10 / 5ft5

I started at the end.of March and have lost 31lbs so far so good luck to everyone on here xx

HelenDenver · 29/06/2026 22:47

I am eating a lot more calories than those who have mentioned their calories! I guess I can cut them a bit if the week 2 weigh in doesn’t show a loss.

HelenDenver · 29/06/2026 22:49

That sounds awful @ElviraZoffany ! Is there anything you do fancy? I have some high protein pitta breads which are easy to eat with some dip so feels like a good balance but not too taxing to make or eat.

olivietolivie · 30/06/2026 06:27

Well my first week having restarted completed and I have lost two pounds! I’m absolutely delighted. I’ve just checked my stats last time and I actually lost half a stone in my first week Shock although that was with a starting weight of 16 stone as opposed to 13 stone 6 (now 13 stone 4 yay). I think I prefer it this way around. Eating more. What I didn’t do last time was exercise because I was so big and hadn’t been exercising previously. But this time I have been exercising consistently so it is already a part of my daily routine so I want to be sufficiently fueled for that. All in all, really pleased!

HelenDenver · 30/06/2026 06:34

Brilliant stuff @olivietolivie

bananamachinewater · 30/06/2026 07:15

Also weighed in this morning and another 1lb off this week which was a nice surprise as I wasn’t expecting it after having the day out. So 13lbs in total over 4weeks 🙌🏼

Midgetwithaplan · 30/06/2026 07:36

Morning, well done for all the losses and thank you for all the tips for what to eat and how to survive in the heat.

Just done my first weigh in after jabbing last Tuesday and I've lost 6.6lbs/3kg to go from 77.5 to 74.5kg. No real side effects at all, didn't feel very hungry most the week, but often don't when it's really hot and work has been stressful so that also reduces my snacking. Have drunk a huge amount of water and feel like I've mostly eaten hard boiled eggs and cucumber!

Will take my 2nd jab when I get in from work just before I go to bed. Have a good day everyone!

ElviraZoffany · 30/06/2026 09:04

@HelenDenver It’s so weird, when I take a bite, I just can’t chew it!

I feel empty this morning, so I’ll try and capitalise on what I can get in for breakfast (eggs, spinach, mushrooms). I’m not much of an evening eater at the best of times. 6pm and I’m done, so I’m going to make a cooked late lunch today too (salmon and quinoa), then save the lighter meal I’ve been eating for lunch for early dinner.

Using Nutracheck has been a really eye-opener. This is going to take much more planning around nutrients than I thought. I’m currently averaging 30g protein and 10g fibre a day. 😬

Safe to say I’ll be sticking to 2.5 for my next pen!

ElviraZoffany · 30/06/2026 09:09

@HelenDenver Forgot to say, I’ll look out for the High protein pitta. The Warburtons high protein bagel thins make be throw up and my eyes swell, so I’m clearly allergic to something in them, potentially the navy bean flour.

HelenDenver · 30/06/2026 09:25

@ElviraZoffany a teaspoon of chia seeds has 1.7g fibre, if you can bear to sprinkle a couple on some yoghurt or something. They don’t taste of anything (to me, anyway) and might help as an easy add

rosecbrm · 30/06/2026 09:34

Unfortunately I think I’m going to have to stop mounjaro! I have had a really bad bout of diarrhoea and nausea which is the second time this has happened. First I think was a bug, but this time I’m sure it’s a response to the medication unfortunately! Gutted as was really excited about the fact I’ve lost 1st already and continuing to progress, but it’s not worth the risk of feeling rubbish!

going to try and keep in the same routine and eating habits though - albeit harder without the medication!

good luck all! X

oh no, @rosecbrm I'm sorry to hear that. maybe the wegovy injections or upcoming tablets will work for your system better. take care x

wendyla · 30/06/2026 09:50

So first set of 4 injections complete and started on injection 1 of round 2. Stayed on 2.5 mg, mainly cause I’m on a 5 day residential course from tomorrow and didn’t want to risk an uptick in side effects!
So happy with my progress; 5.5kg down in 4 weeks and although I have masses to lose, the amount to lose has fallen below 40kg, which for me is massive.
Excited for the next 4 weeks!

HelenDenver · 30/06/2026 09:56

Well done @wendyla good idea not to move up given the residential

littleraecloud · 30/06/2026 09:58

I'm so sorry to those who are having bad side effects! Such a shame.

Wow @ElviraZoffany that's quite some suppression! Have you tried the huel light drinks? I had one last week and the whole thing was 190 calories with 29 grams of protein. Quite nice too. I had it over a whole morning. Like you, inputting everything into nutracheck really highlighted I wasn't getting enough protein so something like that is a really easy way to get some in. It might be easier for you too, as you're struggling to eat much. 😔

Jab 2 just done. Another 3lbs down this week, so 6lbs loss total in 2 weeks. I'm really happy with that!

Seem to have a higher calorie intake than most at between 1300-1500. A couple of days have been higher tbh as I am still getting hungry.

JuniperRosy · 30/06/2026 09:58

5th jab today of 2.5mg and another 2 pounds off bring me to 11.5 pounds in 4 weeks. Really pleased with that!

I took the golden dose of my pen and was much easier than I expected. I bought some insulin needles as back up, but managed to force the pen, just wrapped a towel round the end to help with grip. Still waiting on my next pen as Bolt has messed me around, they took the payment but then my order didn’t process until I chased, so think I will switch suppliers after that one.

JuniperRosy · 30/06/2026 10:03

@ElviraZoffany wow sounds like you are a super responder! How are your calories averaging over the week? If it’s still really low then I’ve seen some people microdose with 1.25mg (30 clicks of the pen) so maybe something for you to look into?

ElviraZoffany · 30/06/2026 10:28

Oh no @rosecbrm! Maybe try a different form when you’ve recovered from the experience.

@JuniperRosy @littleraecloud I have an unfortunate sloth-like system, so everything tends to hit me harder - alcohol, hangovers, medication side effects. I can well imagine I still had a decent amount left of the first jab when I took the second. I’m going to make a huge effort today to feed up so that I can exercise and stoke the furnace a bit in the hopes of processing it better!

Products like Huel have never been on my radar because I can’t tolerate artificial sweeteners (I’m a bloody nightmare, me!) but I’ll look into it. I think an unflavoured protein powder might be my best option.

@HelenDenver Thanks for the reminder, I had some in the back of the cupboard, so just had some with some Fage yoghurt.

littleraecloud · 30/06/2026 10:48

Ahh I see. To be honest, I'm quite a sensitive soul too so I was fully expecting to have terrible side effects etc but luckily all has been fine. Really sorry it's not been so easy for you.

A few other things I've used to up protein:
-Jasons seeded sourdough protein bread (10g) per slice
-edamame snack pots
-chickpea 'tuna'
-lentils, lentils, lentils
-tofu or tempeh nearly every day
-chickpea or lentil 'pasta'
-kallo lentil cakes
-Surreal granola & alpro yoghurt

Might be obvious that I don't eat meat, dairy or eggs & do eat all these things anyway but this is basically my mounjaro diet, lol.

What's everybody else eating?

Jhutcher · 30/06/2026 11:09

I think I might not cope if I didn't eat meat, eggs and dairy as that seems to make up most of my diet now. I've found the NHS weight loss app useful for tracking activity, calories and weigh-ins so far.

I've found Lidl's protein drinks and yogurts a real help in boosting protein at a reasonable cost. In terms of 'real food' its been chicken, lean sausages and Veg. I seem to have gone off most carbs - but a homemade ramen with udon noodles has been great for a high protein, liquid and filling meal for the days before the next jab if I've got a bit more of an appetite. Averaging about 1,500 calories as day... little lower on the first few days, little higher on the last few.

4 weeks in (5th Jab, golden dose of 2.5mg due tomorrow) and lost 19lb or 8.6K in new money. a high starting weight though.

Started a fair amount of exercise as well... an added benefit of general energy boost and no peaks and troughs in sugar levels. We've got 6 young children so it was always put-off before.

My other OH is still very skeptical about it all - worried about its long-term impact. I agree that there is some unknown about it - but there is plenty of evidence to show the long-term impact of obesity so I am trying to keep that in mind.

Has anyone else noticed any other positive elements other than energy levels and weight loss? I have quite a few problems with an ankle joint that I am sure the weight loss is helping, but almost instantly this seemed to ease and from what I've read it might have something to do with anti-inflamatory benefits?

HelenDenver · 30/06/2026 11:14

@littleraecloud I’m eating more than 1500 🙂 I put a goal of 1lb loss a week in nutracheck and am staying under that recommended number. I don’t eat my exercise calories though as too unreliable. Will see if it’s working at my second weigh in!

These are great food suggestions @littleraecloud - we’re pescatarian but eat mainly vegetarian . I've upped the seeds and now including Chia which id never tried until now. Adding frozen edamame to everything going. Looking forward to trying the lentil cakes. They sound great. Otherwise having a third of a portion of my usual meal and bulking out with salad: veg and adding a salmon fillet / tofu : boiled egg for more protein.

I have to say in all my years of yo yo dieting, slimming world, weight watchers etc, I’ve never been half as aware of protein and fibre as long as I’ve been losing, and do wonder if that had been my biggest issue throughout- definitely feel like these are good adjustments for future health 🙌

justsaxy · 30/06/2026 15:31

Just weighed myself and I am 3 kilos down in 3 weeks! Feeling quite happy
