Hi all,

Ive bit the bullet and have ordered and been accepted to start mounjaro through Voy.

something I’ve been debating for a while but finally decided to try it. I had a baby last year and have managed the get back down to pre baby weight, but still have a bit extra to lose, I want to lose around 1.5/2st.

I regularly exercise through swimming a few times a week but diet is very up and down hence being at a standstill with my weight, so wanted the extra help to create some better relationships with food. I’ll be good all week and then ruin it in a few days with takeaways and snacks!

Nervous but excited!

Wanted to make this thread for anyone else starting their journey soon! Anyone else in the same boat?

Current weight: 12st 10 / 5ft5

Day 7 and 7lbs down. Will do my second jab this evening so I can sleep through the nausea. Felt a bit rough the first day but that passed and no real symptoms since. Drinking at least 3l water daily. Lots of food aversions so navigating my way around what I can eat. Trying to drink my calories and get as much protein and fibre as I can. Hope everyone is doing well x

Hi, can I join you as I've just started MJ (did my first injection Tuesday night). I ordered it over the weekend after a holiday where I realised my eating was out of control, I wasn't hungry but I couldn't stop eating everything that was available and came home at 77.5kg and decided it was time to try it.
So far I haven't had any side effects but I haven't felt hungry at all, but I'm not sure if that's the heat rather than the jab as I don't often feel hungry when it's 30+°.
My weight today is 75.9kg, but i know that's all water from.the excesses of my holiday (but it was those extra 2kg I gained on holiday that pushed my BMI high enough to qualify).
Looking forward to seeing how i get on

MammaGnomes · Yesterday 09:43

@Midgetwithaplan I’m starting this week too. I’ve had a notification to say it’s being delivered this morning and plan to do my first jab tomorrow evening. Wasn’t sure if I should join here or wait for a July one.
im really nervous about side effects, good to hear you haven’t had any. What kind of meals have you been eating? I’m not really organised for tomorrow’s evening meal.
nervous and excited in equal measure

Just done my first jab - I’m so nervous about side effects.
I have a hen do this weekend but it’s a quiet one (day time) and I’ll be driving!
One question I do have - what f your not eating as much do you find you get low blood sugars? Feeling weak etc? And what do you do about that?

HelenDenver · Yesterday 09:59

Hello @MammaGnomes and @A671090 @Midgetwithaplan I’m also in week 1 (first jab was on Saturday).

I had bad burps on Sunday but otherwise no side effects. I’m tracking what I eat with nutracheck and haven’t felt faint or anything

Midgetwithaplan · Yesterday 10:05

Going to be honest, I didn't really eat at all yesterday, I know I need to (I'm actually a prescriber who supplies MJ) but it was so hot day that I ate 2 slices of pizza I had leftover in the fridge at work on Tuesday and 2 sweets, and drank about 3.5l of water as it was so hot! I'm at home today and its already 29° in my house so going to eat some hard bolted eggs in a minute but no real plans after that! Whats everyone else doing for food in the heat?

HelenDenver · Yesterday 10:11

Cold and high protein - cottage cheese, yoghurt, fruit, salmon fillets

LibbyL92 · Yesterday 10:24

Second jab on Tuesday, still no side effects, don’t feel any different. Wondering if I need to up my dose.

Second jab on Tuesday, still no side effects, don’t feel any different. Wondering if I need to up my dose.

2:5mg is the “introductory” dose and I think most people increase it from there.

wendyla · Yesterday 11:00

I backtracked on raising my dose from week 5, as after my 4th injection, for the first time O had stomach pain/cramps. Not sure if it was the MJ or the heat but I’m on a residential course next week so decided to play it safe with another 4 weeks on 2.5.

Interested if anyone else was pretty much side effect free till week 4?

ElviraZoffany · Yesterday 11:10

@LibbyL92 Are you eating any differently and are you losing weight?

Coming to the end of Wk1 and I don’t “feel” much effect from it either. I read lots of experiences before starting and was expecting to feel nausea, uncomfortable fullness and burping etc but the only effect on me so far is as if I’ve downloaded a mindfulness around food programme into my brain!

I’m losing weight and I’m feeling in control of what I eat for the first time in my life, so I’m happy with that!

Also, I believe the first dose is still active in your system when you take the next one, and so on, so there’ll be a culminative effect.

I will need to order as soon as it opens for me, as I only got three needles in my pack, and, although I’m tempted to go up, I think I’ll be sticking with 2.5 for pen 2.

ElviraZoffany · Yesterday 11:15

@A671090 I haven’t felt that at all in my first week but it might be because I’ve made an effort to eat a small protein-focussed meal three times a day. I really want to avoid becoming nauseous.

eg fage Greek yogurt with granola, strawberries and blueberries or 1 ryvita with tuna and cottage cheese, and an apple.

dinosaursroar1 · Yesterday 11:52

I’ve just ordered my second pen this morning and stuck with 2.5mg. I’m losing weight and apart from the first few days I don’t have any side effects so seemed like the sensible option for me.
Plus I don’t really want to completely obliterate my appetite or feeling hunger so I’m kind of pleased that the effects do seem less that day or two before my next jab. I feel like that would make it harder to maintain weight loss if I haven’t had to deal with feeling hunger and managing that with making better food choices, which in the past I’ve been absolutely rubbish at.

sweetpickle2 · Yesterday 11:57

Still feeling nauseous/diarrhea and not able to eat much- means the scales have gone down (finally under 90kg!) but know I need to start introdcing food again. Cold and high protein is a good idea @HelenDenver!

KittytheHare · Yesterday 16:18

I’m now on my second week of 5mg (jabbed on Tues). This is week 6 after starting (actually started at the very end of May). Starting weight was 69.9kg and am currently 61.4kg so very pleased.
Side effects have been minimal for me, just an occasional feeling of nausea which seems to lift when I drink lots of water. Unexpected benefits are the disappearance of my various aches and pains, and drinking much less alcohol.

I find the alcohol thing interesting - I LOVE a glass of wine - it is my downfall - especially if I’ve had a tough time ! I’m kinda hoping MJ will knock that on the head a little. Mind you it’s 6pm on a Thursday and I’d normally be thinking ‘wine time’ and it’s not crossed my mind! Maybe placebo as only injected this morning!

HNAN36 · Yesterday 18:45

@KittytheHareI have ordered a 5mg pen but think I am going to click count and do 3.75mg. Did you notice a difference when upping the doses? Side effects? Did you loose more when increasing?

I am taking my 4th jab tomorrow but don’t feel like I have lost much this week. I am due on so that could be it too, plus the heat I haven’t had much of an appetite or done as much exercise 🤷🏼‍♀️🤪

Notweirdatall · Yesterday 20:42

Lost a pound in week 3 taking me to 13.5 lbs in 3 weeks which I’m surprised but delighted by! After several years of struggling to lose the menopausal weight this is brilliant!

bethmoo88 · Yesterday 21:22

Is anyone else feeling nauseous in this heat? I haven’t had any nausea in the few weeks that I’ve been on MJ, but I feel really sick this week. Wondering if it’s weather and MJ not mixing well together!

LibbyL92 · Yesterday 21:40

Definitely, but I’m on sertraline as well and I do think it’s that that isn’t reacting well to the heat

Ahh me too! But I’ve been on that a good while, and I don’t remember feeling sickness in the heat before. Maybe it’s a mixture of them both, along with my body getting by on a lot less calories than in the past (1400 or so, nothing too extreme). Roll on a bit of cooler weather

KittytheHare · Today 06:55

@HNAN36 I noticed a slight difference when upping the dose, but tbh not as much as I’d expected side effects remained minimal. My biggest loss was Wk 1, where I lost around 3.5kg, after that yhe weight loss slowed slightly but it’s remained relatively consistent.

HelenDenver · Today 07:10

Although I don’t feel my appetite is suppressed, it used to be the case that if I thought of a food combo or bought a new flavour of something, I would want to have it there and then. This week I feel like I can have a taste of a new product and put the rest away, or think of something I want to eat and decide to have it for lunch tomorrow, not at 11pm when I come up with it.

Thank you. My loss has definitely slowed this week. I am worried about the side effects though, like everyone life is crazy being a mum and with work. So I am going to try 3.75mg first. See how that goes 🙈

HNAN36 · Today 07:48

Sw 80.15kg / 12.8st
W1 77.85kg / 12.3st (-5lb)
W2 76.75kg/ 12.1st (-2.4lb)
W3 76.05kg// 11.13st (-1.5lb)
Total loss 8.9lb

I am so happy this is working for me. Now within the 11st bracket (just) 🙌🏻. I am going to move up to 3.75mg next week by click counting. Is anyone else doing the same?
