I know this is a weight loss thread . apologies
,but I noticed a few people saying they also have ADHD..and I just wondered if they had similar issues..I keep feeling faint when I stand up .I'm on 54 mg of concerta xl..blood pressure was 122/70 when I went on medication, and now it's 118/67.
I've asked on nurodiverse Mumsneters and just thought I'd ask on here .
I've notified my ADHD provider..but no response
Just wondering if I should keep taking it ,or it's normal and it settles down in time ..it's all a bit new to me as I'm only on week 5 x
Thanks for reading, sorry to derail thread a bit x

Not ADHD either but that blood pressure is spot on and the difference is negligible, if you take your BP 3 times it's likely to be different every time

@TragicMuseI've had a constantly runny nose for absolutely ages for no apparent reason - never considered it could be MJ related, googling it says it might be!

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 19/05/2026 11:52

@Springflowers2
I get an occasional dizzy feeling myself, even after over two years on MJ.
It's to do with my blood pressure dropping a bit every now and again.

Yours may be due to the Concerta plus the MJ. However, the readings you've posted are totally normal.

Blood pressure changes all the time, in all people.
You won't get the same reading, even if you take it a minute apart. That's the same for all people.

What I'm trying to say is, go with the flow. Your body will settle itself down.
There's no need to stop taking either of your medications.

EnterSandfan · 19/05/2026 13:58

@Springflowers2 ADHD here but I'm not on medication for it, and yep I have really bad headrushes and almost fainting when I stand up too quick. My blood pressure is always fine at the docs, so I think it's just the mounjaro lowering blood pressure in general and then standing up too quick after sitting for a while. I don't think it's anything to worry about :)

~~
TMI incoming everyone 😆 I've been slack on the diet front lately and I've been hovering at the 206/205lbs mark. Well since Sunday morning I've had another bout of the most awful diarrhoea non stop (sorry! Happens to me occasionally!) and I know it's just water weight but the scales said 201.9lb this morning..sigh, I know when I'm eating again and not losing fluids that number will go back up, but my god it's weird to see the number soooo close to being under 200 for the first time in my life 😆 what a tease!

Springflowers2 · 19/05/2026 15:01

@EnterSandfan ..I didn't think it could be the mj .
Thanks xx

Last night, I injected 2.5mg, from a 5mg pen. I felt mildly nauseous yesterday and I haven’t felt a raging hunger today, but I still have lots of food noise and definitely don’t feel like I have done every other time I have injected.

Do I take the rest of the dose today and then start with the regular 5mg on Sunday, or do I stick it out for a bit longer?

The dr left it up to me. I know it’s only a temporary blip, but I am spiralling slightly having gained 6lb in a very short space of time. In fact, such a short space of time it really can’t be based just on calorie intake.

I don’t mind being patient with the weight loss, so long as I feel more back in control and I think I need to quieten the food noise a little more to be able to do that

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 19/05/2026 21:01

I'd say that following any significant break it would be sensible to build back up following the guidance. I know it's frustrating and you want to get back to where you were but you need to acclimatise your body to the medication again.

I'd say see how you feel after another day or so @OvertiredandConfused - let your body re-adjust. I know exactly what you mean about the control - this is just as important as movement on the scales, it's about the sense of wellbeing it gives you when you don't feel like you're at the mercy of your appetite/brain. But maybe just take a longer term view - you'll get back to where you were, you'll find your own way through!

tescovaluebread · 20/05/2026 21:53

NSV!!!
Mother in law just said (and said it so quietly and concerned whilst holding my hand) that I have lost enough weight and if I lose anymore I'd disappear. 😑
I'm 13st5.. . So I highly doubt that. 😏
I told her thanks!! That's sweet to say but I actually still weigh more than your son. And she was shocked "oh really?? You don't look it!"
The concerned comments start... But I'll take it as a compliment because Lord knows, compared to my old 23st self, I probably do look like I'll blow away. 🤣

(if not clear, this is post is dripping with sarcasm, I hate people commenting on anyone's bodies whether fat or slim. And hate the feeling to have to justify further weightloss as if I need to get the approval from a third party before continuing.)

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 20/05/2026 22:12

Funnily enough I've started getting similar comments this week - they aren't faux concern I don't think, but just people genuinely not realising that the size I am currently is still overweight - I think it is just so hard these days to judge what is big and what isn't, and I've lost so much that they can't comprehend that there is still more to lose.

I did also have one other interesting reaction - I was chatting to a colleague who is also on MJ and one of the anaesthetists overheard, he congratulated her on her loss (20-odd kg) but when he heard how much I'd lost in less than a year, his immediate concern was for my liver function - that it would be a shock to my liver. I thought that was really interesting - of all doctors I think that anaesthetists have the best understanding of how the whole body works and so that really did make me stop and think.

tescovaluebread · 20/05/2026 22:25

@RenegadeKeeblerElf I've lost so much that they can't comprehend that there is still more to lose.

This is a great way to phrase it and sums it all up perfectly.

The anaesthetists comment reminds me of something :
There's a Instagram influencer who has gone through massive weightloss and speaks to this effect and there's a sketch of him comparing the weightloss to the comments. The video starts with a 1st loss, 2st loss no one said anything, 3st and 4 st people saying "well done, good for you etc" ... Then when the weight really starts to down 7st,8st,9st loss, the comments slowly change from positive to " be careful, you're losing muscle, you will gain it back, don't lose anymore "...

it's a very interesting video to watch.

MoneyJo · 20/05/2026 22:42

I would love to see that @tescovaluebread - who is the influencer?

tescovaluebread · 20/05/2026 22:49

@MoneyJo it was a while ago that I watched this, last year? But let me try and find it because I want to see it again. I don't remember his name, I just remember what he looks like because he was quite young. I'll deffo come back to you.

MoneyJo · 20/05/2026 22:51

Thank you.

TragicMuse · 20/05/2026 23:07

I got told I was tiny yesterday - in a conversation only full of praise for my efforts, no fake concern at all. I’m not tiny, I still weigh more than a stone over ‘healthy’ bmi. But I am so much smaller that I probably look tiny compared to what I was!

mounjaroatlast · 14/05/2026 17:37

Hi, can I join? Not sure if I will lose 10 stone, but certainly do with it.

Starting weight was 138kg, or 21.7 stone according to google. I am quite short so have a high BMI.

GP was finally allowed to prescribe MJ, (I asked last March but didn't meet the criteria) so have started near the end of April this year.

I have T2 diabetes, HH, GORD, galllbladder problems, IBS

I did 3 weeks on 2.5 then felt it wasn't doing anything, so switched to 5mg on Monday. I have lost 3kg now over the 3.5 weeks.

I have had terrible IBS and diarreah since I started the med, and since upping to 5mg, had really bad stomach problems, and central heartburn/pain caused mainly by the gallbladder I think.

Reading online, it seems like all these things ease off after a few weeks.

Can anyone give me hope that things will get better? or am I destined to have the runs for ever while I am on this jab? Things weren't that great before due to all the other gastric issues.

Surgeon will take my gallbladder out if I can get 5 BMI off, which is 2-3 stone, so that is my first goal.

Have you tried taking probiotics?

Ketra · 21/05/2026 09:55

So, my whoosh from last week continues - another 3 lbs this week meaning I've lost 9lbs in 2 weeks whereas the previous 8 weeks I lost 12lbs total. Just proves how much my body holds onto weight when I am ill, so whilst I want to get back to a more realistic 1-2lbs loss a week, this last 2 weeks has basically reset my trajectory back to where it should have been.

It also means I am now 8 stone down (I like nice round numbers), and officially below 200lbs (by 1lb).

I also had my first "you look healthy" comment in work last week - I've had a few people whisper asking if I've lost weight, but hadn't heard the healthy euphemism until then.

EducatingEater · 21/05/2026 10:03

NSV: my boobs are stupid big and cause horrendous backache. They make me look completely out of proportion too, even at my biggest people were surprised if I wore something that showed I did have a waist (especially as I'm high waisted) even when so big because my boobs make me look even bigger.

Because of this I have a really bad time shopping and wear clothes bigger than the rest of my frame because of the boobs. I'm sure several other ladies unfortunately understand all too well.

Anyway after being a little irritated at 2 weeks maintain this last Monday, last night I did the measurements at the week point of starting.

I've lost 14.5 inches from my body and 4 of those are from my chest alone.

No wonder I was able to have a shift around of clothes from this weekend and get out some dresses and tops from my "to come down into" stock 😁😁😁 I had been noticing for a couple of weeks that they were even bigger than usual above my boobs (tale as old as time, they make me wear a bigger size to go around them so there's lots of extra material at shoulders and the very top of tops and dresses etc.) so it was very nice to be able to get some out already and bring dome smaller ones down, even if they are largely from yours clothing which is known for generous sizing!

My department director has finally noticed my weight loss! I wondered if she was being polite but she finally cracked today! I think it’s hilarious!

MrTiddlesTheCat · Yesterday 09:00

A disappointing 0.3 kg loss for me this week. So I'll be tightening up my meals this week.

On a positive, look what came up on my newsfeed.
