@MoneyJoso I’m on about an 11st loss now. I don’t have loose skin in the way that sometimes you see on social media posts from people who have lost lots of weight. I am amazed that I seem to have got away with it mostly, given that I am nearly 50 and was obese for nearly all my adult life. I have a bit of crepey saggyness on my upper arms, but nothing terrible considering. I won’t wear sleeveless tops but I never would or have so I don’t mind. I have crepey inner thighs which is the bit that surprised me, but it’s not too bad and again I don’t ever wear anything where it would show and I never have or want to, so I don’t mind. It’s actually getting better I think now as well looking at it today.

My stomach is soft and squishy and there’s a bit of an overhang, but I have had two pregnancies and very large babies, with two c sections. So it was never going to be ideal. It looks fine in clothes and the overhang is not an apron that hangs lower than my actual stomach area. I need to pull my finger out and lose another stone or so to get properly to my target weight and I think when I do that it will be reduced further.

Boobs, well they have shrunk and have definitely lost volume in the upper part, but they aren’t too bad overall. I am a 36B and I very much like having a small chest, better for running!

MoneyJo · 05/07/2026 11:35

Thanks @SilenceInside I always appreciate your experience and knowledge in WIL posts.

PositiveAttitude · 05/07/2026 13:20

Hi, @MoneyJo

I have lost 7 stone over the past year and am heading (too fast) towards the big 6-0!! 😲
I am pleasantly surprised, to be honest, that my skin is looking ok. I have bingo wings and a big tummy with overhang still, but I have had 9 pregnancies, so that is not too surprising! But sucky pants have become my friend!
My legs are the best part of me at the moment with just a bit of crepey skin at the top. I have not worn a bikini for 40 years and I do not intend to ever wear one again, and clothes cover me ok.
As others have said here, I would prefer a few rolls of wrinkles than them all to be filled out with fat.

TragicMuse · 05/07/2026 15:23

I have always worn short sleeves and not really cared about my arms and I don’t seem to have acquired a hang-up about the sag!

Like you @PositiveAttitude, my legs appear to be my best feature, albeit with the crepey top-of-leg. I have no issues with shorts - I went out in shorts yesterday, to actual shops! And I have worn a bikini, though only in the garden!

I do think that some of it is down to the thing I mentioned a while ago, the invisibility of normality. Once one is in a more average body range and not obviously an outlier, people just don’t look or notice. I look at people because my OCD hasn’t got the memo yet and I’m still inwardly comparing myself - the lifelong habit of ‘how much am I going to stand out?’ - but most ‘normal’ people who have never been significantly overweight don’t have that kind of internal monologue.

People can think what they want, I don’t care. And if anyone says anything, well, my OCD has already run every possible scenario and comment and what I’ll say in return. It does every time I step out of the house. And nothing anyone says is ever going to be worse than what I’ve imagined or actually had shouted at me. Seriously. If self-analysis was an Olympic sport I’d be on that damn podium. Every time. There is literally nothing someone can think to say to insult me that I haven’t already heard or thought of.

So I’m taking the chance to wear all the things I never did because I can!

HOWEVER, it’s taken me a long time to get here! And it’s ok if you aren’t here or aren’t yet! Just don’t let fear of other people’s useless opinions and bad energy hold you back from what you want to do, wear, be.

AlicesMum2025 · 05/07/2026 16:32

I've lost just shy of 10st (9st 12.5) and I have pretty saggy skin. I'm 47.

The fronts of my upper arms were bad for a while, if I held my arms straight down to my side then the fronts looked all puckered, but it's shrunk a bit now. I do have bingo wings but I'm hopefully they'll shrink a bit in time. I think weight training is really helping with that because I have visible muscle now which has filled the skin out a bit.

My belly is quite jiggly and hanging down a bit but it's not quite an apron yet.

My thighs are bad though. From my knees up they look like melted candles and it all jiggles when I walk.

Boobs are still looking ok though.

But somehow I've got to the point where I don't really care. It's the trade off for losing so much weight and I'd rather saggy skin than be like I was. I go out in shorts down to mid-thigh, wear cycling shorts in the gym, sometimes run in a sports bra so my belly is out, wear sleeveless tops, and a bikini top in the garden. I went over 15 years covering myself up, wearing black and hoping no-one would notice or comment on me, that I don't want to do that anymore. I'm proud of having lost so much weight and the saggy skin is just proof of where I've come from.

I totally get that other people don't feel the same way, and I completely understand it, but I just wanted to share a contrasting view.

AlicesMum2025 · 05/07/2026 16:45

In other news, two milestones for me today.

I'm overweight 🎉🎉🎉🎉 No longer obese. I'm sure some people would be horrified that being overweight is something to celebrate but I'm sure you all understand why I feel so glad about it. My BMI was 54.1 when I started and I've lost 62.7kg/9st 12.5lb. I'm on the home stretch to target now 🎉

Secondly, I ran a 2k race this morning, the first time I've ever done anything like that in my life. Even at school when I was fit and skinny I wasn't a runner. I walked 300m of the course, but that was the plan that I'd decided beforehand. I've been following the None to Run programme because Couch to 5k was too advanced for me when I started. I wholeheartedly recommend it if you've thought about running but feel intimidated by C25K. N2R starts with 30s running and I struggled to do that at first, so today was a massive achievement. I was one of only three adults in the race unaccompanied by kids so I felt a bit self conscious at first but I gave myself a talking to and I'm happy with how I did.

I have a fitness challenge coming up in August that I'm training for and I impulsively entered a 5k in September. Who even am I!!!

The only bit of loose skin that bothers me is my arms. I have massive bingo wings and they are now getting crepey. I've also noticed that the excess skin/fat kind of pools around the top of my elbow which is even harder to hide. I think the reason it bothers me is that it will always be an indicator that I used to be fat - in the future it would be nice to masquerade as someone who is just naturally slim and with these arms ill never be able to do that. I'd still rather be slim with loose skin than fat though! And maybe one day I'll be able to afford the surgery, although I'm a bit worried about the scars (I dont heal well).

AlicesMum2025 · 05/07/2026 17:08

Just sharing some progress pics if anyone is interested. I've lost a whole person off my body. My goal weight is 60kg so I've lost more than I eventually want to weigh. Can't get my head around it.

I know that there are some new people in this group so hopefully this helps you trust that mounjaro can absolutely work for you. I still have around 20kg/3st to lose but I'm confident that I can do it.

@RenegadeKeeblerElf I know what you mean. I have a bit of overhang on both my elbows and knees. Like you say, it will always be a giveaway that I was once very much larger. I was fortunate to receive an inheritance a few years ago and I've mentally allocated some of it to cosmetic surgery in several year's time once I know how much my skin shrinks and if I feel self conscious about it. I might like to get a tummy tuck and boob lift. Luckily I tend not to scar too badly though.

Fffreeeeezing · 05/07/2026 18:50

NSV of the day, I sat in an egg chair for the first time in my entire life. And I’m still alive and the chair is still intact (example pic attached for those of you not familiar with every fat persons nightmare seating scenario)

Wow @AlicesMum2025 what amazing stats and progress you have made, you look fab! My next goal, about 10lb away is to be just overweight so I can imagine how great that must feel!

EnterSandfan · 06/07/2026 04:14

I've stayed up for the football and am scoffing chocolate to take the edge off 😆 the scales will probably tell me off

MoneyJo · 06/07/2026 07:40

Thanks for the replies about loose skin. Good to know.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 06/07/2026 13:01

Wow @AlicesMum2025what an inspiration you are!!!!
You have done so well!
I have included my stats… I am just hovering above 30BMI still and just want to be under 90kg now.
But near enough lost 7 stone which I am very happy with. Loss is so slow now, I would be happy with another 2 stone off but need nearer 3 to be normal BMI. Not sure it’s possible for me 🤷‍♀️

I did start CT5K January, took me til May to finish the program as I did it slower. So brilliant and have tried hard to keep it up.

I’m taking 11mg right now, using an old style 10mg pen. I have one 12.5mg ready but that’s a new pen. Considering best options, buy 10mg (use 5th dose) or buy 12.5’s, basically same amount in them as an old 10…. Or go 15? This would mean using beyond 30days. Anyone do this?

Total loss 107lbs/7st 9lb

PositiveAttitude · 06/07/2026 13:18

@EnterSandfani was awake watching the football and then went into work this morning. Pepsi has got me through the morning, but I have also eaten non stop because the tiredness has made me so hungry! 🤦🏻 A very good game though!

@Reginaphalangeeeeei use a 15mg pen and have just gone up to 12.5mg a week. Yes, it means that the pen may be used for longer than the 30 days, but I am not worried about that. It keeps the cost down for me and that is why I do it. With he new pens coming in I intend to still do whatever I need to to keep the cost down as much as possible.
Before I go up a dose I also do a number of 6 days gaps and a few 5 days even. For me this means I don't get the peaks and troughs where I lose in the first few days and then eat too much in the days before my next jab.

BritbirdUK · 06/07/2026 13:47

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you all had a good weekend. I had my first social event after starting the jabs. Luckily it was with our close friends, one of the few people who know. I was really good, didn't drink (despite them living 3 doors away) and kept my food to a minimum. I am definitely still hearing a lot of food noise though but appreciate that this will happen until I get that balance and perhaps go up a dose. I am enjoying doing lots of cooking atm - thankfully I haven't lost the pleasure of food (yet) and am cooking everything I can from scratch. Last night I did pulled pork with a homemade sauce which was delicious although I did add a little too much chilli so it was quite spicy. What would normally have been 1 meal for us and a lunch is looking to do 2 main meals so pleased with that. Tonight I am making a pasta dish with the leftover sauce - I always do too much so we have enough for a pasta the next evening. First time I will be having pasta since starting so will be interesting to see how it goes.

Have a good week all!

Thanks@PositiveAttitude
so this gives you 6 doses of 12.5 from 15 pen (if you golden dose). That is only 1 week over the 30day open period. Assume you keep in fridge.
you noticed any reduced effectiveness for last dose?

TragicMuse · 06/07/2026 17:18

I made some incredible meatballs! 83 calories and 10g of protein for one and 3 is a decent amount for lunch! Thrilled to bits

Yes, I do keep it in the fridge, although when I was away one time the last dose of 1 pen was out of the fridge for the week before I took it.
I have not noticed ANY decrease in effectiveness at all.
Yes, I get 6 doses from each pen. I pay £266 per pen so it works out at £44 per dose instead of the £66 it would be if I was taking it "properly". I know I could get it cheaper using discounts every month. But I prefer to stick with the same provider and use medicine marketplace as they seem to be cheapest as a regular price. I have to remember to order every 5-6 weeks and have a spare pen always in the fridge.

PositiveAttitude · 06/07/2026 17:28

Sorry. Also meant to say that I was using a 15mg pen when I was taking 10mg. So it went well over the 30 days. Still no loss of effectiveness ever noticed.

Ooooh this sounds great do you have a recipe please?

Newmummy343 · 06/07/2026 17:29

Ooooh this sounds great do you have a recipe please?

I sort of eyeballed it, but it's this, more or less:

500g 5% fat minced pork
500g 5% fat minced beef
around 10g finely grated parmesan, or grana padano or pecorino romano
small bunch of basil
third to half a packet of leaf parsley
some bread - if I have stale bread I would soak it in a bit of milk and use that, but if I don't, I use 2 slices of warburtons medium sliced, which I toast to dry it out a bit
teaspoon of dried garlic powder or granules. Or fresh if you like - a nice big clove, two if you prefer, but you want hint of garlic, not overpowering.
salt and pepper

If it's toast whizz it with the herbs till you have green breadcrumbs!

If it's soaked bread use as is, you want it softened and squashy.

You don't need to whiz the soaked bread.

Chop the herbs finely.

Grate the cheese. Or use the already-grated fresh parmesan.

In a large bowl put the minced meats.

Add the breadcrumbs or soft soaked bread and all the other ingredients.

Mix well, hands is best, till all the ingredients are nicely combined.

Make one small patty and fry it first to check the seasoning. Also, cook's perk!

Adjust if you need to.

Then portion - I got 23 from mine. You can do whatever size you want really! I have a little scoop which is a good size but a spoon will do!

Then you can either:

Fry them in some olive oil
Do them in the airfryer
Do them in the oven.

Timings are a bit vague, they took maybe 15ish minutes in the airfryer, a bit longer in the frying pan with some regular turning to get them brown all over.

Good with a tomato sauce and pasta.
Good on their own!
Hot or cold!
