My first jabs arrived today. Thinking of starting Wednesday which is technically end of April but wanted to start a new group for anyone starting soon!

Nervous but kind of excited for good results. Watched a YouTube video instruction for the pen before, I might get my husband to do it for me!!

Anyone want to join me and share / support each other??

FFS, weighed myself this morning and I have gone back up to my usual weight after losing over 2kg on first week. Disheartened to say the least. I’m not counting calories, but I’m definitely eating less often and I think also eating less food overall. Getting 100g of protein per day. Eating my usual healthy mainly unprocessed foods. Maybe I’m one of those people who don’t get weight loss results from glps? Husband says to keep calm and carry on. So jab number 3 tonight. Sympathy or words of wisdom welcome…

MrsO2b · 16/05/2026 09:38

Hi everyone. Can I join you please, I could do with the support.
I took MJ for 4 weeks last year, but the side effects were so extreme for me that I stopped. I've now plucked up the courage to try Wegovy, as supposedly fewer side effects, and took my first jab on Monday. The only side effects I've had so far are being more tired - like in bed by 9pm tired, but that's ok, and I'm sleeping really well, and being absolutely freezing cold, which are both common side effects apparently. As to appetite suppression, I don't seem to have had any of that so far. I'm being very mindful if what I'm eating though. This stuff is expensive so I want to give it the best chance! I snuck on the scales this morning but they havnt moved since monday. 😣
My problem is Hashimotos and an under-active thyroid, which will fight against me every step of the way, so I'm expecting any weight loss to be very slow, but hopefully I'll get something.....eventually! Has anybody else on W had weight loss in the first couple of weeks, or has that only happened when you've increased your dose?

KittensAndCupcakes · 16/05/2026 09:50

@MrsO2b welcome. I’m the misery story above your post. Very interested in what you wrote about thyroid. I went to my GP to check he was ok with me going on GLP. I’ve had a slightly underactive thyroid for years and he said we could try levothyroxine which might help with weight loss. Are you on any thyroid meds?

suneetime · 16/05/2026 10:12

Sympathy from me @KittensAndCupcakes I think it’s usual to go up and down a bit though. Do you weigh weekly or more frequently?

I’m ok with drinking loads of water but I’m struggling with the protein and am going to have to try and increase that. The target seems so high. Weigh in day and jab 3 tomorrow for me.

KittensAndCupcakes · 16/05/2026 10:29

@suneetime Thank you for sympathy. I’m weighing weekly. I’ve just been reading up on water loss/retention on MJ esp at start. Might explain my regain. Totally hear you on the protein target being high.

Yeah, he's a fibber. My doctor said "everybody I've prescribed this medication to has gone on to lose a lot of weight"....he lied!
It's not impossible, but it is a fight, and expect it to be very slow. Saying that, if you feel you need thyroxine fight for it! There's no such thing as "slightly under-active". You're either normal or you're not.

I've had Hashimotos Thyroiditis for nearly 50 years. That's autoimmune thyroid disease. I'm on 175mcg thyroxine per day, plus T3 which is another thyroid hormone. You need to be guided by your symptoms - tired all the time no matter how much sleep you've had, depression, brain fog - can't concentrate, forgetful, cold all the time, aches and pains, no enthusiasm for anything especially exercise, all of which have an impact on the weight issues, erratic periods, hormones all over the place and 100 other things. But like I say, you have to advocate for yourself. Doctors don't seem to have much training on thyroids, which is silly because you're thyroid is responsible for so much in your body. They give you a little packet of pills and send you on your way.

Obviously if you don't feel like you need meds, if you're managing ok, then dont take them. Once you start replacing your thyroid hormones with tablets your thyroid reduces the amount it naturally makes, then it becomes dependent on the pills. But I was so bad I didn't know what day it was.
Fingers crossed for both of us that the jabs help. How are you doing in them so far? I took my first wegovy in monday. So far no weight loss, but also very minimal, bearable side-effects, so I'm hopeful. Onwards and downwards! ❤️

KittensAndCupcakes · 16/05/2026 12:49

@MrsO2b Thank you - really, really useful info. Hope the Wegovy works for you. Sounds like you had a rotten run with MJ. MJ side effects for me so far are mainly gastric (down tummy aches and an episode of the runs) and then some unexpected benefits for other health conditions. I’m on 2.5, halfway through my first pen.

TeamsThemeTune · 16/05/2026 13:45

If anyone is interested, I downloaded an app called methreesixty which someone on another thread referenced.

You use your phone to take a couple of photos and it gives you like a little anonymised 360 degree body scan figure. You can then use a little slider to show what you'd look like at a lighter weight. You can then take progress photos as you go along.
It also provides various body measurements (although I've no idea how accurate they are and can't be bothered to find my tape measure). I was horrified to find it reckons my body fat percentage is 39.5% and my surface area is 20 square feet! If that hasn't put a rocket up me, I don't know what will!

7238SM · 16/05/2026 14:24

Hi there, I had my very first dose yesterday after deliberating for months. Late 40's, BMI of 39 and never been this big in my life.

I had terrible indigestion before bed but read this is common. It took me ages to sleep lastnight and kept waking in the night. It might be peri though. I'm reading threads with interest especially those a few weeks ahead of me in their journey x

Teensknowitall · 16/05/2026 16:34

MrsO2b · 16/05/2026 09:25

Can I ask if you lost any weight on your initial .25 dose, or did it not start until you increased? Currently on .25 but nothings happening

I was on 0.25 for the first month. Started mid Feb Been on 0:5 since then and have gone from 170-143 pounds. Want to lose another 7 pounds . Have still got some suppression I'm finding , but not always easy to resist chocolate. I do limit carbs and intermittent fast as well which is a game changer for me I feel . Good luck 🥰

Keep going , it’s likely the initial loss was water - I was the same , a few lbs went on and I was thinking it wasn’t working . I wasn’t drinking enough water and I had a few no movement weekends where I was stuck in a car for 5 hours all four days .
it WILL work . I have finally gone down another lb this morning at LAST ! So am half way through does 4 of 2.5 and have lost 7 lbs , which I feel is actual fat loss . I drank much more water this week and it worked . I also did more exercise

KittensAndCupcakes · 16/05/2026 17:57

Thank you @mollio That’s all reassuring to hear. Esp as super hungry right now, but it is jab night so hopefully things will settle and I’ll have the same kind of results as you.

@Teensknowitall Are you on MJ or Wegovy? Your outcome is pretty much exactly what I want weight-wise!

mollio · 16/05/2026 18:01

I’d like some advice - I ordered the 5mg pen for my next month and am having the wobbles over it . I ordered a pack of insulin needles from Amazon to get the extra golden dose out and then to maybe use less that 5mg over a longer period ( keeping the pen in the fridge ). It’s much cheaper to do it that way and I could potentially do 3.75 instead of 5 next week …. I was really sick when I jabbed this week on 2.5 but today I’m fine and can eat no problem etc . If there was crap in house I would in danger of eating it ! Am freezing cold all the time and constipated still . Not sure what to do - maybe I will do the 5 and see what it feels like …. It’s v v expensive here in Ireland 300 euro for 5mg and then 50 euro on top of that for the prescription. Is it the same in the UK ?

Wegovy. 0.25 for first month and 0.5 for the last 3. I’ve got two more doses on this pen, then think that will be it for me . I can’t afford to pay for it anymore tbh unless my referral code is used. I had no side-effects while I say none I have had a couple of mornings with very slight nausea which lasted just a few minutes. I have been constipated a couple of times but I take Chia seeds and sunflower seeds with porridge a couple of times a week so that seems to sort that out. I do drink plenty of fluids and to be honest I couldn’t have asked for anything better. I am reasonably fit for a woman of my age… 50 I walk lots and go to the gym a few times a week. It’s definitely given me the boost I need to hopefully be able to do it on my own once this pen finishes.

Hensandhearth · 16/05/2026 19:06

Hi

I’d love to join please. Had my first MJ jab yesterday and today I’ve been very sick followed by a lot of nausea. Hoping that this will pass as it’s pretty rotten.

i need to lose a lot of weight (5/6 stone) and years of diets haven’t worked. My hope was to lose at a slow steady rate over a 2/3 years. The cost of the terrifies me but my weight is starting to impact my joints and I loathe myself.

im not sure I want to share widely in ‘real life’ so it would be great to have a place to chat about it all x

ByNiftyPombear · 16/05/2026 20:14

@mollio it sounds more expensive than what I’ve paid (£150-180) for the 2.5mg pens. No extra cost for prescription. Also thinking about going on a mid dose rather than jumping up. Currently am sticking to 2.5 but will see how the suppression continues. I’ve struggled a lot with acid reflux, it hasn’t made me sick but has completely put me off a lot of foods/drinks (tea 😫) it’s like being pregnant again. So don’t want to jump up higher then it start making me sick. So hard as such a variety of symptoms and everyone reacts so differently it seems! And like you, seems to vary from day to day for no obvious reason!

pinkballoons90 · 16/05/2026 22:29

Welcome @Hensandhearthand sorry to hear you’ve had such a rough start! Fingers crossed it will improve quickly and as seems to be the common consensus, eating / drinking does help the nausea. It sounds like you’re taking a really positive step in your life.

@molliogosh that does sound expensive?! I paid £196 from Superdrug for my 5mg pen. I’m also nervous to start it in case of bad side effects and wondering whether I can increase more slowly.

Hiya @Hensandhearthsorry that sounds rough :( did you watch what you ate in the day or two before you did your jab? I have heard that people have made the mistake of having one last blow out prior to their jab but it sets to work right away so can cause some nasty symptoms. Otherwise hopefully it was just a one off and your body getting used to it 🤞🤞

Hensandhearth · 17/05/2026 08:42

I do wonder if it was the food I ate Friday, no blow out but I had 3 slices of pizza. I have since seen cheese can make it worse so maybe pizza is not my friend on injection day!!

I spent yesterday eating soup, brown toast and drinking peppermint tea. Still feel a bit sore and queasy but so so much better than yesterday. Also I drank water (which to be fair I rarely drink enough of) and that helped.

i was severely sick when pregnant and I’m often sick before a period. So I wonder if my bodies go to for a hormone change is sickness.🤢

If it settles to this mornings level it’s totally manageable so hopefully yesterday won’t be the norm.. 🤞

NettleTea · 17/05/2026 08:59

just taken my forth jab. I have been prescribed the 2.5 again for next month, even though I tried to sneak the 5mg in so I could get twices as much!

Third weigh in and it was a surprise - I hadnt weighed myself yesterday but in the early part of the week it had been up and down, and hardly anything, but this morning shows 1.5kg off this week. I was pretty busy yesterday, ran a 3 hour foraging course but then came home and barely moved.

Im feeling very hopeful!

so far
starting weight pre MJ - 94kg

Pre first jab 92kg
week 1 90.5
week 2 89.6
week 3 88.1

suneetime · 17/05/2026 10:36

Great result @NettleTea

and fingers crossed on the nausea @Hensandhearth

2nd weigh in today. I work in stones still!

SW 14st 5
week 1 13st 13
week 2 13st 11

I’m pleased with that. I’ve also lost 2cm from my upper arm and waist and 3cm off hips. Although they’re all still huge! Highly recommend measuring as well as weighing for motivation. Planning on sticking on 2.5mg for my next order too.

madeinthe80z · 17/05/2026 11:26

Congratulations on the losses this week ladies!! I am keeping everything crossed for a loss this week but I have had 2 social events that have had me up at 2000 calories for the day each time so we will see! Going to drink as much water as possible before weigh in on Tuesday and hope for the best!

OP posts:
BonnieChaos · 17/05/2026 12:09

Can I ask what and how much people are eating? I took my first jab on Friday and the suppression is huge for me. Yesterday I had a really small ham roll at lunch time and had chicken, potatoes and veg for dinner. I ate dinner ok but felt sick after. Other than that I just drank water.

How much does everyone eat each day generally?

7238SM · 17/05/2026 12:57

May I ask about time of day morning vs night injecting int terms of side effects?

What day of the week is best? A friend takes hers on a Monday because she finds by the time she gets to the weekend, her suppression is slightly less so she can enjoy meals with family.

I started on Friday. IF you wanted to move my inject day, would you use it on Sat next week, Sun the following then the Mon? So moving it by 1 day a week or it makes no difference what day of the week you have it? thanks.

Kitten234 · 17/05/2026 12:58

@BonnieChaos im the same as you. take my jab on a Friday so suppression is huge on weekends. I’m averaging about 1000 calories a day. Not enough I know but it’s all I can manage on these days. I just prioritise protein and everything I eat is healthy. I have lots of water too. I’m also taking vitamins and collagen .
