I’m with you! I was consoling myself today by thinking that I will be an expert at maintaining.

Me too. You've got a chum here thinking skinny thoughts with you.

SignedUpAgain · 15/06/2026 20:19

lol we are definitely going to be good at maintaining- and sure isn’t that half the trouble usually!
im not piling it back on again. No way.

mounjaro has transformed my life.

wish people weren’t so judgmental about it. If they only knew.

SussexLass87 · 16/06/2026 08:59

Whit whoo @Gingercar 🤩

Well done everyone - maintaining is quite depressing but I keep telling myself that I'm doing all the right things.

On repeat. Because I'm terrible at being kind to myself. I think a lot of us aren't used to being kind to ourselves.

I forgot to order my MJ so I've been a week without it - I've gained 1/2lb but interestingly my knees and hips have been really aching! I had a hip replacement at 36 and MJ has been so good for the aches that I sometimes get from it.

Gingercar · 17/06/2026 12:43

Gah!
So last week I walked 10,000 steps more than I normally do on two days (one of them carrying the dog too!) and I started couch to 5k, so did my first three running days on three of the other days. So a very active week. And I ate sensibly. But I’m still sat here on my plateau!!! Last time the scales moved was on my MJ anniversary on May 20th (2lbs and I thought things were going to get moving again). So fed up. Although I have lost another inch everywhere. I’m feeling good, am still on track, but it’s so annoying! I’m so close to the -5 stone mark, I just want the scales to budge!!

Placestogo · 17/06/2026 14:22

@Gingercari am framing it as “body recomposition”. After having lost so much weight, my body is building muscles but still losing fat (due to increased physical activity) and muscles are heavier than fat and tbis is why the scales are not moving. And they havent moved much since january….
except the past two weeks or so they did!! And tbis morning i hit a new “low”!! 75kg. 🥳
i think my body has done enough recomposition and now i can lose some more weight.
please do NOT tell me my highly scientific theory is wrong!!!!!
i am worried about losing too much so i have reduced my maintenance dose to 1.75mg (down from 2mg).
im happy to go as low as 69kg (which would mean healthy bmi) but no less.

Gingercar · 17/06/2026 18:26

i think you’re right. You’ve reminded me of when I last got to goal (30 years ago!) I was trying to get into the airline as cabin crew and there was a (very low) height/weight limit. I had my first interview scheduled in 10 days time and couldn’t shift the last 4lbs. I was a size 10 and a lifeguard (had to train three times a week) and did a lot of mountain biking. The doctor told me to stop exercising for a week. I did and the 4lbs came off. I felt wobblier but I weighed lighter.
But I’m not stopping exercising now, I’m just into my stride! We go on holiday on Monday and I’d just have liked to have had a little whoosh before we went!

I wonder if the fact that I’m titrating down and widening the gap between Jan days might be a factor? I’ve gone from 12.5 to 7.5mg in the last month, jabbing every 9-10 days.

DBatteryBand · 20/06/2026 07:07

Crikey. After weeks of not losing anything, I've lost four pounds this week! I haven't lost that much in a week since last September. I have been eating mountains of those fancy Isle of Wight tomatoes from M&S this week - maybe that's what caused it. Or maybe the battery needs changing on the scales!

Gingercar · 20/06/2026 10:06

That’s fabulous! Well done.

<rushes off to buy tomatoes>

ElsieJay · 20/06/2026 15:26

Hello all !

That must be really frustrating, @Gingercar , especially after all the walking at the horse trials and starting Couch to 5K. I keep reading up on that , but that’s as far as it has gone ….🙄 Maybe the tomatoes @DBatteryBand recommended will get me moving!

I haven’t weighed since we arrived here, but am not doing well food-wise, although I am definitely walking more.
Tonight we are going out for a Mexican with DD, DSonIL and DGS, which I’m looking forward to . We’ll miss out on seeing DGD this time as she has an exam to resit and some lab work to finish.
Thankfully I have two unopened pens waiting at home - think I’m going to need them 🙄.
Had an e mail from my provider ( Asda) yesterday, asking if I’d be interested in hearing about the new Wegovy tablets .
Has anyone any thoughts on these ?

Onwards and (however long it takes us ) downwards!

Gingercar · 20/06/2026 16:16

Sometimes I wonder about trying Wegovy because MJ had so little affect on me. I wonder if it would be different.

Megsdaughter · 20/06/2026 17:04

I went over to Wegovey last September. Still losing although have slowed down the last month. From my tracker stats I average 1.7lbs a week. This month so far though I have only lost 2lb.
Im with Swift Doctor and have had an invite about the tablets. Thought they would be good as going on holiday would be easier to take with me. Im on 1.0mg on the injections. The equivilent tablet is 4mg apparently. I pay £99 for the injection the tablets would be £119! So Im sticking to the injections. Plus going up to 1.7mg made me very sick so not sure 4mg would be good for me.

ElsieJay · 21/06/2026 11:29

What prompted you to switch to Wevovy, @Megsdaughter , if you don’t mind me asking ?
I was wondering about using the new tablets for long-term maintenance once I’ve used the two 5mg MJ pens in my stash - assume the provider advises you what dose is suitable.
It did say there are more stomach-related side effects with the tablets, though, which is quite off-putting.

Megsdaughter · 21/06/2026 16:47

@ElsieJay Money 😆 I couldnt afford to stay on MJ so went to Wegovey. Until I tried to go up to 1.7mg I hadnt had any side effects either apart from constipation but prunes sirted that. I had had nausea, sickness and constipation on MJ though so for me it has been a better product.

ElsieJay · 21/06/2026 21:05

Thanks, @Megsdaughter - the financial implications of staying on MJ for maintenance certainly aren’t looking great for me either.
I wonder if there’s any hope the prices will drop to a manageable level in future ?
Seems like Wegovy is working well for you, especially with regard to the side effects .

Gingercar · 22/06/2026 10:17

Oh my goodness I think I’ve possibly just experienced my first side effects after 13 months! I woke up at 4am with a really awful ache under my ribs. Googled and convinced myself I’d got pancreatitis! Thought at one point I might have to go to hospital as it was getting so bad. Not good as we are going on holiday today! I went for a shower at 6am and the hot water helped. I started burping loads. Felt much better. Went back to bed and have just woken up feels fine.

Very strange. I jabbed 7mg last night. It was 12 days since my last jab. I’ve been titrating down from 12.5mg for the last six weeks, with jabs over 10 days apart.

Anyway, I mow n rd to run round packing and organising, I’ve lost 2 hours!

ElsieJay · 22/06/2026 22:51

Oooh, that sounds nasty, @Gingercar - hope you’re fighting fit for your holiday now.

DBatteryBand · 23/06/2026 06:22

Hope you’re ok, @Gingercar . Enjoy your holiday!

Gingercar · 23/06/2026 20:16

Thank you ladies. I’ve been right as rain since. Very strange. Must just be a blip. And we’re having a lovely time, albeit hot!

Apprenante · 23/06/2026 20:27

Very pleased you're feeling better @Gingercar . Maybe it was a coincidence rather than a SE.
Have a brilliant holiday!

DBatteryBand · 23/06/2026 22:18

The dreaded Mounjaro burps, perhaps. I have only had a proper attack of them once, and to my embarrassment didn’t realise until DH woke me up to complain my burping was keeping him awake. Not my most alluring moment.

Two lovely NSV this week. I never wear dresses, but yesterday I wore one to the shops and a very nice woman stopped me to ask me where I bought it and to tell me it really suited me. Then I had a ‘fuck it’ moment and bought my first pair of shorts for about 35 years. I’m not going to wear them down the street, but I will wear them in the garden in this hot weather. I had a sudden inner menopausal woman rant about why can everyone else in the world wear shorts and not me…until it dawned on me that I can wear shorts if I like. So I am. Hurrah!

Gingercar · 23/06/2026 22:48

Hurrah indeed!
I’m wandering around in shorts and vests, even swimming costumes, and feeling happy (and feeling cool! How many summers have I sweated it out in jeans or oversized t shirts because I was too ashamed to wear less). I swam today. I adore swimming. I haven’t swum for over 10 years, too embarrassed to be seen in a costume. I’m sad for myself that I missed out on so much. This summer has been so much nicer feeling good about myself.

That's just amazing - congratulations lovely x

Apprenante · 24/06/2026 12:07

I've been wearing shorts all week - or a sleeveless! dress - as the temperature in Central France has been high. It seems cooler here but not by much . French women in the area where I've been look very stylish in loose, shapeleess, cotton or linen dresses so I'm giving that look a go now I'm home. I think we just have to brave.
A gain of 2kg during the week - much less than I deserved after bounteous consumption of cheese, bread, wine, dessert ...

@Gingercar, as a French speaker tell me, Pourquoi est-il si difficile de dire non en français ? Je trouve qu'il est bien plus facile de dire « oui, bien sûr » ou « d'accord, juste un peu plus ».

Gingercar · 24/06/2026 12:35

Oui, tu as raison. Mais je ne sais pas pourquoi. 🤣 🇫🇷

ElsieJay · 24/06/2026 22:29

@DBatteryBand and @Gingercar - what lovely NSVs you’ve both had !
Summer of 2026 is all about “joining the fun”.

@Apprenante - isn’t it maddening how French women always look stylish, even in the crazy weather we’re having in Europe right now….. 🥵
