I asked my legal AI tool to draft a letter for you, in case it's useful:

To: [Pharmacy customer service email address]
From: [Your name and email address]
Subject: Faulty Mounjaro KwikPen — Order [order/reference number] — Formal request for refund under the Consumer Rights Act 2015
Dear [Pharmacy name / Customer Service Team],
I am writing about a Mounjaro KwikPen I purchased from you on [date of purchase] under order reference [order/reference number]. My proof of purchase is attached.
The pen is faulty: it [briefly describe the fault, e.g. "the injection mechanism broke and will not dispense the dose"]. It is therefore not of satisfactory quality and not fit for purpose.
When I contacted you about this, I was told to raise the matter with the manufacturer. I do not accept that response. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, my contract of sale is with you as the retailer, not with the manufacturer. A manufacturer's warranty is an additional benefit and does not replace or reduce your statutory obligations to me.
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods you supply must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described (sections 9 to 11). This pen does not meet those standards. Because the fault has arisen within the first six months, it is presumed to have been present at the point of sale unless you can prove otherwise.
On that basis, I require the following remedy:

  1. [Choose the remedy appropriate to your timing and delete the others:]
  2. Within 30 days of delivery — I am exercising my short-term right to reject the goods under section 22 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and require a full refund of [amount] to my original payment method.
  3. After 30 days — I require a replacement at no cost to me. I understand that, for safety and regulatory reasons, a returned medicine may not be re-supplied; if a compliant replacement is not practical, I require a full refund of [amount] instead.
I appreciate that a prescription medicine cannot simply be resold, but that does not discharge your obligations under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If you cannot provide a repair or replacement within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience to me, you must provide a refund. I have retained the faulty pen and its packaging (including the batch number) and can provide photographs on request. I am also reporting the device fault separately to the manufacturer and to the MHRA Yellow Card scheme; that report is a patient-safety matter and is separate from this refund request. Please confirm within 14 days of the date of this email how you will resolve this matter. If I do not receive a satisfactory response, I will escalate the matter, which may include contacting the Citizens Advice consumer service and Trading Standards, pursuing a claim against my card provider, and, if necessary, bringing a small claim through Money Claim Online. I look forward to your prompt reply.

The power of the Mumsnet community @Polkadotdash🥰, we’ve all got your back, you should definitely send this letter.

BreezyPeer · 10/07/2026 08:15

@Polkadotdash definitely send the letter and let us know how you get on. These things are too expensive for this sort of messing around

BreezyPeer · 10/07/2026 08:54

Morning losers and maintainers!
Just back from Rome
walked 20,000 steps a day ate loads of Gelato, half pizzas etc etc and I’ve put on 3.75lb! Not bad and I hope it will come off this week as it has put me over the 70kg/11 stone that is my ‘top acceptable weight’
I took my gym gear with me but I didn’t do any workouts so I need to do one today and book for Pilates for Monday.
@HeidiLite and others- enjoying the bra chat. I went through a phase in my weight loss where my bras all hurt so much but I think that was because they were too big and also because I had got so depressed with looking ‘big’ that I stopped buying quality. I have replaced all my bras with better ones (from Marks) which I know isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but do seem to suit me.
@26inprogress hoping your recovery goes well
@jins what a complicated set of things you have to go through to get your insomnia medication.
@Zempy lovely to hear from you about sweets! I bought a lot of sweets recently for a ‘candy buffet’ at a party. I have another party coming up in the next couple of weeks so the left overs are waiting for that. I managed to leave most of the jars at a friend’s house but because of the hot weather, the chocolate ones have ended up on my fridge. I’m lying, they have ended up in my stomach- no wonder I have put weight on 🤣

HeidiLite · 10/07/2026 09:08

@BreezyPeer I love Rome so much, can't wait to take the kids one of those years. And yes that's very moderate weight gain and will be at least partly just water retention due to carbs.

BreezyPeer · 10/07/2026 09:42

@HeidiLite I went with my teenage ds. It was brilliantly teen friendly if a little hot!

26inprogress · 10/07/2026 12:13

@BreezyPeerwe took our ds ( who I think is the same age as yours if memory working-17?) to Rome last November and agree. Such a fab place for that age, history at every corner and fabulous food. Those pounds will soon be gone!

Jins · 10/07/2026 13:29

Corsica and Rome are both on our list for when DH finally retires.

I’m definitely reducing my dose next jab. I’m down to 8st 6.2 this morning and I was hoping to sit tight for a while and let my skin catch up.

Zempy · 10/07/2026 15:26

I also LOVE Rome and have been three times. I would go back every year if I didn’t have so many new places on “the list”

Weighed in today and am only 8:1 which surprised me as I have eaten so much cake/chocolate. I went for a walk at lunchtime and will do plenty of steps over the weekend.

Is everyone going to try to stay up to watch football on Saturday? I usually go to bed at 9 😆

I am going to theatre Saturday afternoon, on my own as a little treat.

Polkadotdash · 10/07/2026 20:59

Thank you all for coming up with the complaint letters for me. You are stars. I wasn’t sure if the Consumer Goods Act 2015 applied to prescription meds but it looks like it might if you buy them privately (rather than via NHS). I’m going write to Lotus directly with my complaint. What is really annoying me at their moment is that they are spamming me with promotional emails about how great their customer care is, particularly their pharmacist support. Grrr. I just need to regroup a bit this weekend to get a bit of energy to get it done. The weather is wiping me out at the minute.

Jins · 11/07/2026 08:47

I won’t be staying up to watch the football @Zempy but I don’t watch any sport except for Olympic swimming. I think DH is going to the local with his mates but he’s going to have to hide in a corner with a poor view so he doesn’t humiliate himself with his lack of knowledge.

We had a lovely morning on the river yesterday. Me with my trusty kindle and DH in his kayak. He’s been trying to perfect rolls for years despite self appointed expert guidance so I offered to go and help. Obviously as I’ve never even sat in a kayak I’m a perfect trainer so off we went. In twenty minutes he had it cracked with the help of some YouTube videos and me filming his attempts. I’m so pleased for him but even more pleased that I’ve proved to be more use than a bunch of self important men. 😆

I’ve got a bit of festival outfit sewing to do, namely a skort with very deep pockets, then I need to get the caravan ready for a weekend off grid which won’t take too long but does involve finding stuff. My overexcited friend is nearing peak so we’re in for some fun

BreezyPeer · 11/07/2026 10:20

Morning 🌅 losers and maintainers!
@Zempy Rome is amazing! I love the ‘ open any church door and there’s a carrivaggio’ aspect of the whole thing!
Saturday afternoon solo theatre sounds like fun! I have a family bbq which is going to be Hot 🔥
I will probably try to watch the football especially if I can find some fans to watch with! If I’m at home by then, maybe just the first half?
@Polkadotdash don’t let them get away with it! The pens are so expensive now it’s ridiculous that they haven’t responded more positively
@Jins festival seeing sounds fun and extra deep pockets are surely a daily necessity?
a woman with YouTube and a genuine desire to help is going to beat testosterone fuelled ‘experts’ every day!
nearly caravan time! I’m looking forward to hearing all about it xxx

tinyemmy · 11/07/2026 12:23

Hello! I managed to turn off notifications and stopped getting updates. I hope everyone is doing ok!

@PolkadotdashI had similar with a broken pen over 6 months ago, it went to Eli Lilly who I pushed and pushed, they eventually said they lost i and would replace it but that still hasn't happened. I email Get a Drip every few days, I do need to write something stronger, perhaps I will use the letter here.

I went off mj at the end of December, mainly because I was titrating ADHD medication. I've finished titration and whilst the medication has helped, it hasn't really helped with my binge eating (as it's worn off by the end of the day).

I took the plunge a couple of days ago and picked a prescriber off the the list and have a pen arriving from IQ Doctor later today. I'm looking forward to getting restarted. I've put on a stone and the binge eating is just getting ridiculous.

I'm off on holiday in less than 3 weeks and I'd love to have lost half a stone by then - possibly not realistic... I wish I'd written down what I ate when I started the jabs. I was following slimming world so I'm pretty sure I skipped breakfast, had a protein yoghurt and oaty bar for lunch and then a normal meal. Evening wise it was probably a couple of hifi bars and maybe some fruit and yoghurt. The weight fell off me at the beginning, I'm really hoping the same happens. I'm on holiday in less than 3 weeks!

Please send any tips my way, I've forgotten everything!!

DGmaintaining · 12/07/2026 10:00

Hi all!

@BreezyPeer also love Rome, have been a few times but not with the kids. Think DS1 has mentioned it so needs to go back on the list.

@Polkadotdash hope you do send that letter. And I think focussing on de-stressing your life is a very good place to start.

@tinyemmy lovely to hear from you again. I remember you coming off WLI to focus on adjusting to your adhd meds. Good luck with the new plan.

@HeidiLite do you have any recommendations for where to stay in Corsica?

I’m back up to the 60kg bracket again. Less bothered by it this time, keep reminding myself that I’m on creatine so will naturally be a kg or two up. I’ve not done much exercise this week - blaming the heatwave for that! Will stick to 26clicks on the 5mg pen.

DS2 is a little better, he only has a week of school to go and tomorrow is a trip to a theme park which he is happy to do. We still haven’t heard from the school about moving him to a new tutor group, so that’s on the priority list for this week.

My job is calming down over next few weeks, it has been full on since April, so am grateful for the respite. A promotion opportunity has come up, and I’ve been told my name has been mentioned as a strong candidate, so we’ll see how long this respite lasts! Not sure if it’s MJ or age, but my energy has massively diminished for constantly working and spending evenings catching up on reading emails, documents and presentations. I do feel like I’ve lost a bit my superpower of high productivity. I wouldn’t mind if I’d replaced reading emails with something else in the evening like going to the gym or a hobby or cooking lovely meals (cooking when Im truly rested at the weekend does bring me joy), but I’m too knackered for all of that too.

tinyemmy · 12/07/2026 10:20

@DGmaintainingjust scrolled back to a previous message for the back story and agree with you on everything including domestic violence at that age. I feel like I'm putting some of my own insecurities onto my daughter. She invited mates back to ours to use the pool in our garden and I worry that I was really rude to them all as I just thought they were using her. She doesn't seem to get picked to be sat next to on school trips, didn't get invited to the fete at the rec but yet "friends" she's never mentioned before all ended up back at our house. I realised she was on her period too which also explained the awful behaviour in the last week!

I so worry for them! She also spends way too much time on her phone and the tantrums when I take it away are unbelievable. She often stays up all night reading (I did too at her age). She is my AuADHD child. Child #2 I this also has a more mild version but she is not even on the radar for anything (but I only got diagnosed at 45 so I think she will be like me and heavily mask)

On coming off the jabs I then went straight into Christmas so put on a few pounds, then skiing and put on 7lbs, I lost a bit but then went through a rough patch at work and started binge eating again. After a number of weeks of daily binge eating I decided enough was enough and it was time to jump on the jabs in the hope they will curtail it again 🤞

BreezyPeer · 12/07/2026 10:27

Morning everyone!
I can highly recommend Rome. I took my workout gear but walked more than 20,000 steps a day so I didn’t do any!
Just done my first one since coming back and really feeling it! 🏋️‍♀️
have a great Sunday, xxx

PenelopePitstopPersists · 12/07/2026 19:03

Hello everyone, I haven't caught up with everything as I haven't checked in for a while.

Not sure whether to jab or not really, it has been a two weeks tomorrow and I have neither lost or gained weight. I have got a pair of golf trousers that are my 'measure' and they fit well.

No idea really, I will think about it overnight.

Rome is fabulous, I used to go on the train for weekends with freinds quite a bit when I lived in Bologna. Never quiet was my experience, spring, summer, autumn, winter - all seemed to be the same level of business.

Sorry to hear about stressed teenagers. I had one very easy ride and one like riding the Hyperia. God knows how but I have only got about 8% grey hair and I am nearer 60 than 50. I was super strict on phone usage, both were given one when starting secondary school, fortunately the school they went to is in a mobile phone signal blackspot 🏆 . Beyond that Apple's screen time did a very good job. I didn't allow Tik Tok, facebook, instagram and all that crap and time on other apps was limited daily ... before a nighttime blackout. 👻neither of them made too much fuss about it to be fair, that was the way it was, both ND, they just accepted it as the rules of having a phone. Now we are out of teens I have to say that neither of them seem that bothered, mind you DS goes to sleep with an audiobook on and it is often still playing in the morning so I reckon his screen time is 24/7. I hope summer holidays take a bit of pressure off anyone who is stressed.

I've taken to having a can of ice cold Aspalls cider in the hot weather, I can highly recommend it 😅, 330ml = 152 calories and absolutely worth every single one of them.

Jins · 12/07/2026 22:31

Ooh. Cider in hot weather is perfect! We have a 12ft splasher pool (bought the first when DS2 was 4 and he’s now 28) but the last few incarnations have only been used by DH and I. It’s heated by solar and electric top ups and today the water was nearly 35 degrees. Guess where I’ve been all
day? Absolute bliss.

I finished my festival skort which is a winner despite bodging a waistband and the pockets are suitably huge. I’ll probably make another one at some point. We’ve also spotted potential river access from the festival ground so have checked the paddleboard and inflatable boat for seaworthiness. Last time we were at a festival with these friends we ended up carrying a kayak through security to launch it and they loved doing a thorough bag check of it 😆

thoroughly enjoying myself at the moment.

BreezyPeer · 13/07/2026 07:59

Morning 🌅 losers and maintainers!
@PenelopePitstopPersists I haven’t drunk alcohol in years and barely miss it but cold cider on a hot day is elite! It’s the way the sweetness is offset by the crispness of the apples 🍏 🍎
@Jins I love the idea of the festival security checking your kayak! You could use it to carry all your gear in 🤣
I am going to jab today, I haven’t lost anything after getting back from Rome so I need to get back on it. It’s been 12 days since my last jab and I am going to do 3mg again - this is part of my tapering but I can go back up to 4 ( or even 5) every 10 days if needed.
I’m not looking back to being back in work today, but I better get back to it!

myladyjane · 13/07/2026 09:00

I’ve lost yet more weight without trying. I am starting to worry a bit now. Seems a bit odd to complain but never in my life even on mj has weight loss been easy so it’s freaking me out a bit and I don’t know whether it’s worth a drs appointment or if that’s silly…..

Jins · 13/07/2026 17:01

It’s silly @myladyjane. I don’t know many people who haven’t undershot goal whichever method they’ve used. Obviously if it carries on for months it might be a different story

myladyjane · 13/07/2026 17:56

Ah @jinsI panicked and did an econsult and I’ve been told to stop taking it!!!!!!!! Because it’s been 3 months, I do have a couple of dodgy family history things and a couple of other odd symptoms which in isolation mean nothing but all together ‘need checking’. So I have to stop it until blood tests are back.

hopefully it’s nothing and is just the undershooting thing. I will 100% go back on as soon as I have the all clear, albeit back to 2.5!

Jins · 13/07/2026 18:04

Better safe than sorry @myladyjane. You’ll be fine I’m sure

BreezyPeer · 13/07/2026 18:34

@myladyjane i agree! Better safe than sorry

26inprogress · 13/07/2026 19:06

@myladyjanedef agree here, if you feel something isn’t right you should def get it checked out. Hope all ok.
