@HeidiLite honestly teen years have been a rude awakening here. One of mine is not a sharer so you have to sort of weasel out what’s wrong and it kind of explodes. The other shares loads of stuff which is good but sometimes a bit uncomfortable as I hear things I’d prefer not to to be honest.

@DGmaintaining I am sorry he’s having a tough time. It is very hard when they are unhappy and we can’t fix it for them like we used to be able to.

weirdly I seem to have lost a dress size without losing weight and I now appear to be a 10 in some stuff. I have been walking and swimming quite a lot so presumably I have toned up some bits.

DGmaintaining · 05/07/2026 11:29

@myladyjane well done for all the swimming and toning up!

Official weigh in today and am down to 59kg which will be my monthly low as I’m on day 3 of cycle today. Happy with this. So will stay on 26 clicks of a 5mg one.

Gym later with PT. I’ll be bringing DS2, so he can have another session familiarising himself with weights and machines.

Polkadotdash · 05/07/2026 23:11

Solidarity @DGmaintaining teen years are a strange mix of letting them make mistakes and helping them through the healing process. Today I’ve got one dealing with first heartbreak and the other off on a lads holiday (where his mates have already ticked off infected sunburn, a chipped tooth, a panic attack and too many vodka shots on the first weekend). I feel constantly out of my depth!

26inprogress · 06/07/2026 08:11

Thanks all, feeling much better, cramping and tired but ok! Trying to avoid the codeine today as I’m sure that’s not helping!! I’ve been spending my time ordering lots of clothes for my holiday!! Some are due to turn up today so hoping they are keepers!

well done @Jins on body fat. I keep looking at Renpho but I’m scared about body fat levels still, can’t figure whether mine is loose skin or fat, how do I know the difference?!

sorry to hear about ds @DGmaintaining, social media def puts a different perspective on things to when I grew up, really scary and difficult as parents as we didn’t have to navigate it so all new. Really hope he’s ok. Well done on the weight loss and gym too!!
Ds (17) seems to be going through a cba with parents phase, we get occasional grunts and attitude but that’s it. We’ve always been quite close so it’s been challenging and I think I may be being a bit emotional and defensive which isn’t helping 😳. He’s off on a 2 week expedition with school next week than back for 6 days and off to Boardmasters ( god help us, my heart said NO but I know I need to give him independence), will be v little sleep that week here!)

@myladyjanewell done! I had similar earlier this year, went from a 12 to a 10 with no further weight loss, still don’t understand why!!

nsv here, I think my turkey neck is slightly improved! Still there but not as pronounced. Jabbed 5mg on Friday and it’s definitely doing its job so will weigh on Friday.

have a good week losers/ maintainers!!

26inprogress · 06/07/2026 08:13

Sorry @Polkadotdashhope lads holiday uneventful! And heartbreak recovery ok. Also hope you get some answers on your pen and that work ok, what a nightmare..

Zempy · 06/07/2026 09:00

@polkadotdashit is so hard supporting them through heartbreak without sounding either cynical or patronising. Or maybe that’s just me! I am meeting DD for lunch as part of her heartbreak recovery. She’s 29 and it doesn’t get any easier.

@26inprogress my turkey neck is definitely improving. Quite significantly really. I did use Prai cream religiously so maybe that helps?

Enjoying not having to wear chub rub shorts this summer!

Jins · 06/07/2026 09:19

I’m off to dig out the Prai cream!

I bloody loved being mum to teenagers. I had to have a time I loved I guess as I was bored through the baby stage, irritated by the preschool stage and really hated primary age. There were occasions when I had buyers regret with both of them. Absolutely adore them now thank goodness

HeidiLite · 06/07/2026 10:03

we haven't entered teenage years yet so will see - DC1 just turned 13. I am certainly not a baby person and have enjoyed them more and more when they are getting older. But will see when hormones kick in..

MJalltheway · 06/07/2026 12:45

My eldest has just officially left teenager stage and turned 20, which seems crazy. I really loved the baby and toddler stage, I miss it a lot and can't wait for grandchildren. We've got off fairly lightly with the teenage years so far (touch wood!). It probably helped that I had already gone through menopause before we got to teenage years.

is anyone thinking of potentially switching to the new tablets? I'm pondering whether to give it a go but before MJ I had previously tried Saxenda which didn't work for me

myladyjane · 06/07/2026 19:41

Ohhhh neck cream wise can I recommend this:

https://amzn.eu/d/00WZfe0e

i got prai in my M&S advent calendar and then did a bit of research and this got really good reviews and i have been really happy with the results. It smells quite strong but i like the gua sha bit on it.

@MJalltheway I haven’t looked at the tablets because I understand wegovy isn’t as good re the anti inflammatory effects and I really value those.

I finally found my login details for my RENPHO account after being logged out two weeks ago. Weighed in. To my delight I’ve gained 3lbs in a fortnight. How is this even possible? I’m living on salad at the moment. I don’t have breakfast unless I’m in the office and I take my fruit and Greek yogurt in. How can I gain weight on 1300 cals a day? What is wrong with me???????

Jins · 08/07/2026 08:54

You are a medical mystery @Polkadotdash. I’ve never subscribed to the calorie approach to dieting as for me it matters greatly where those calories come from. I have gained weight in the past on a similar intake and can totally sympathise. High protein, moderate fat and below 50g carb is the only way that works for me. The other thing that crosses my mind is that you are unhappy in your job and have had problems outside of work which all add up to a lot more stress than you need which never helps.

Oushk kindly sent a reminder that my maintenance plan is due to expire so I’ve replied in some detail to explain why I’ve moved elsewhere. I wouldn’t rule them out for the future but their approach doesn’t work for me at the moment.

I had a couple of great charity shop finds yesterday, a blue leather hotter bag in the perfect size and shape for shovelling everything in on those sort of days and a pair of weird fish lightweight gathered trousers. Total of £8. The trousers are size 10 and too big but it doesn’t matter too much for that style.

Just over two weeks until the festival and my friend is getting overexcited already 😆. Really looking forward to some chilled out chatting time and as it’s on the West Mids showground there’s plenty of opportunity to pop into Shrewsbury for a mooch. Hope the dry weather holds.

Current dose of 5.8mg seems to be suiting me but may drop down a couple of clicks for my next jab

Wtafmakeitstop · 08/07/2026 09:17

It sounds like there are quite complicated instructions on when you can take the tablets. I was reading after an 8 hour fast, with up to 120ml of water, then wait half an hour before having anything else. Seems a bit of a faff to me as I already have medication I need to take first thing in the morning, but I guess others might think that's fine. I'm still MJ anyway so not thinking of switching but just noticed that detail.

HeidiLite · 08/07/2026 09:17

I just bought this dress (in blue) for my holidays next week - can't wait to wear it.
https://oglmove.com/products/cooltouch-square-neck-sleeveless-bra-dress?variant=50887101841654
It has a built in bra - before weight loss, no way it would have been able to handle the watermelons I was carrying around. And it's tight and unforgiving around the waist - which is not a problem at all, as there's no stomach rolls to hide. Shopping and getting dressed is just so much more fuun now.

Of course I have already checked what gyms I have near the accommodation.

26inprogress · 08/07/2026 09:27

Hi all
ooh, that’s nice @HeidiLite. Where are you off to on holiday? Have a fab time!!
great bargains @Jins!!
likewise @PolkadotdashI need to watch where my calories come from, like Jins, high protein, lowish carbs for me but agree with Jins, stress produces cortisol which is not your friend with weight loss, your body goes into fight or flight mode and tends to hang on to the calories. A few years ago when I had a particularly stressful time and couldn’t shift/ was putting on more weight, I spoke to a nutritionist friend who, as well as recommending lots of sleep, exercise and healthy eating that I take the following ( obviously you’d need to check you were ok to take them depending on health conditions etc
magnesium glycinate
Ashwagandha
omega 3 supplements ( or omega rich foods)
Vitamin D
Good quality protein at breakfast- I had eggs or Greek yoghurt

Some maybe worth a shot? Good luck, I can only imagine how bloody frustrating it is.

HeidiLite · 08/07/2026 09:29

@26inprogress we're going to Corsica, can't wait.

and I also agree that it matters where calories are coming from. I have been eating more bread and croissants than usual and can certainly feel it, even if calories have been reasonable.

OP posts:
Polkadotdash · 08/07/2026 15:36

Thanks all. I really don’t know what the problem is. I think I’m just a freak! My plan to make the 12.5mg pen last over the summer obviously hasn’t worked as I have this faulty pen. I’m not getting anywhere with getting an answer on a refund or a replacement so that’s it for me. I’m off the jabs. Really gutted. I can be the experiment to see how quickly I pile back on the 24lbs I lost. I reckon by Christmas.

Zempy · 09/07/2026 07:20

Can’t wait to hear reviews of Corsica @HeidiLite.

I am feeling lethargic and slightly grumpy this week. I have had both DC staying so bought too many sweet treats (then ate them all) which hasn’t helped.

I probably need to weigh myself and get it under control…

HeidiLite · 09/07/2026 07:59

@Zempy not our first time, I think the island has the best beaches in Europe. Nature is gorgeous, food is great. Service can sometimes be a bit rude and not super welcoming, but fine as long as you adjust your expectations..
Bit pricey but also quite posh in general.

@Polkadotdash I don’t believe in hugs but I am giving you a manly handshake and clap on the back. You have had a dreadful time and I really feel for you. I hope you are giving yourself some love and attention.

Jins · 09/07/2026 08:51

I don’t do hugs either but I’m making an exception for you @Polkadotdash. Please keep posting!

DH is totally fed up with work. There have been big changes to the business over the last year and he’s convinced they have all been introduced to make his life harder. He’s never been one for paperwork. We had a vague plan that he’d stay on reduced hours for 18 months or so but I think we need to sit down with our calculators. I’m just counting our blessings that he decided against buying in 25 years ago as he only has to give 6 weeks notice and he’s free!

Took DS1 for a check up yesterday and all is going well. He has to stay in the boot for another 3 weeks then should start physio. I don’t think we were fully aware that yesterday’s appointment was to see if the ankle fracture needed screwing but fortunately it doesn’t. He’s just grateful it’s not in a cast in this weather.

Zempy · 09/07/2026 09:25

@Polkadotdash you have not had a typical response to the medication, so maybe you won’t have a typical response to coming off it either? Keeping everything crossed for you.

Your description of Corsican hospitality made me laugh @HeidiLite. I’m used to Parisian levels of service hostility, and in a perverse way, I kind of respect and enjoy it. Definitely one for the list.

Polkadotdash · 09/07/2026 14:54

Thank you lovelies for your virtual hugs. You are a special little corner of the internet x

I’ve just had the email response back from Eli Lilly confirming that the investigation it did (one which consisted of not asking me any questions, asking for any evidence, photos, the actual pen) concluded that it was user error and no refund or replacement is due. Amazing how they can do that with the power of their minds only. Quite a talent.
Anyway, I still can’t get through to Lotus to discuss and with Lilly shutting me down, I have no option left but to accept that the pen is wasted (along with my £250). I think it’s disgusting that there is so little a legal framework to protect customers of online pharmacies. I had expected some minimum protections (like actually being able to talk to a human being) to be in place.

I am so sad that I have failed in my quest to become a normal BMI. Really sad. I feel like a total failure. Like every other diet I’ve ever been on and failed at and remained fat. I’m sure you know how that feels. It’s just an extra humiliation to lose £250 at the end of it all. I don’t suppose the outcome in terms of weight loss would have been any different even if the 12.5mg pen hadn’t jammed. But still, at least I could have tried.

HeidiLite · 09/07/2026 14:59

Oh that's massively shit @Polkadotdash . So how did they investigate, asked the moon and the stars?

And sorry you're feeling downm of course only understandable after all the effort you have put in.
What do you think about trying Reta when it is available? Seems to have really promising results.

OP posts:
26inprogress · 09/07/2026 15:30

Oh @Polkadotdashthat is completely shit, I can’t actually believe they can do this, it’s such a lot of money too, I’ve asked my mate chat for advice and this is what is suggests/ maybe worth a try? I’m also sending you a hug as this is rubbish. Please keep posting.

  1. Ask for the evidence. She should write to the pharmacy asking:
  • Why they have concluded it was user error.
  • What evidence they relied on.
  • Whether the manufacturer inspected the device.
  • Whether there is a written report.
  1. Remind the pharmacy of their obligations. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be:
  • of satisfactory quality,
  • fit for purpose, and
  • as described.
  1. Her contract is with the pharmacy that sold it, not the manufacturer. The pharmacy cannot simply pass responsibility to the manufacturer.
  2. Escalate the complaint.
  • Follow the pharmacy’s formal complaints procedure.
  • If it’s an online pharmacy regulated by the GPhC, she can complain to the GPhC if she believes the pharmacy has acted unprofessionally. The GPhC won’t usually order compensation, but it can investigate professional conduct.
  • If the issue relates to a defective medical device or medicine delivery system, she can also report it to the MHRA through its Yellow Card scheme.
  1. If she paid by credit card and the item cost over £100, she may have protection under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act, allowing her to claim from the card provider. If she paid by debit card, she could ask her bank about a chargeback, although this is voluntary and time-limited.
