some companies really don't get that shit customer service will cost them a lot more than just replacing a few pens.

Have gained a little weight again, so need to be more careful. Have been eating more, especially bread, carbs always do it.

We’ve finally got round to booking for a swim at the only inland brine pool in the uk. We’ve been threatening to do it for years but something has always got in the way. So Friday morning’s activity is sorted. I actually struggle with salt water swimming quite a lot as I naturally float far too high and it really affects my stroke so the plan is to try to work on my butterfly which has really suffered since the broken shoulder.

I didn’t gain my traditional post jab pound yesterday and I was so busy I forgot to eat (love that so much) so hopefully I’ve got some capacity for some ice cream with some cherries I’ve been preserving since getting back from my holiday. Preserved cherries became quite the addiction in Crete although I adore cherries anyway. I’ve got a big bag of home grown strawberries in the freezer ready for jam making as well.

myladyjane · 24/06/2026 08:49

Well I wore shorts in public for the first time since I was 8 yesterday.

just back from a few days away where I ate what I fancied but walked and swam every day and I am 2lb down today weirdly. I have a few more days off work so going to see if I can swim today as well.

dds have prom tomorrow so this morning is last minute prom bit shopping. They are going to roast (but look beautiful)

HeidiLite · 24/06/2026 08:54

@myladyjane shorts first time in decades is certainly a NSV!
I wore a mini skirt yesterday, which I have never done, even not as a teenager. Always hated my legs.
But now I felt great! And it's so comfortable in current weather.

Ooh that sounds amazing Jins, on all counts! How are you preserving the cherries? We’ve been buying massive trays of those and strawberries the past couple of weeks, fab time of year for fruit!
Well done on the bikini @Wtafmakeitstop, I have been wondering about the same, and have a high waisted one in a basket but I can’t get over my loose skin!! It most def won’t be worn to Tesco though, what’s that about!!
good luck with the running @PenelopePitstopPersists, 10k is amazing!! Furthest I’ve ever run is 5k- once! When I tried to start running earlier this year I injured myself so taking that as a sign!!
@Zempy fab nsv! Hope you’re having a brilliant time!
@Polkadotdashhope pengate now sorted?!
@HeidiLite and @MJallthewayI know what you mean too, MJ has really been a life changer. I’ve had a challenging week and put a pound on but I know with a few days of focus that will disappear.
I’ve been feeling pretty grim after waspgate! They finally seem to be going down and getting less itchy but it’s been pretty hideous, I’ve not been out the house as the heat makes them horrific!
Laptop etc couriered back to my ex workplace this morning so waiting for pay day on Friday and hopefully that’s that!
have a good day everyone

eta I hadn’t seen your posts before posting ladyjane and Heidi. Well done on the shirts and mini skirt! Enjoy the swim and hope the girls have an amazing time at prom!!

Jins · 24/06/2026 10:07

@26inprogress I've been combining the one hour method with a traditional 10 day method so I followed the instructions in the screenshot to start with. Then I drained the syrup off and let the cherries cool. For the last few days I’ve been bringing the syrup up to boiling and then pouring it over the cherries and letting them cool in it. They did taste a wee bit stewed using the one hour method but they have a bit more bite to them now.

I’m really into old school bottling and preserving. I’ve got jars of jam, chutney and sauces from things we’ve grown and last year I bottled a huge crop of morello cherries from our tree. Not many on it this year though.

Tried to edit to add the pic but it won’t let me

Wtafmakeitstop · 24/06/2026 13:07

@jins butterfly?? Very casually dropped into your post but that makes you superhuman in my view - I swim a lot but haven’t ever mastered that one.

Jins · 24/06/2026 13:26

Butterfly is one of those strokes really isn’t it? Back in my youth I used to race and I always had to do butterfly in the medleys. It sort of clicks if you don’t drown first and then feels quite comfortable and logical. Since my shoulder broke and my other one froze I don’t have as much shoulder mobility and can’t get my arms synchronised for the up and over as well as I used to. Hoping the brine will keep me afloat enough to do it and when I can do a width I’ll call it quits 🤣

Wtafmakeitstop · 24/06/2026 13:39

Well I’m impressed! Maybe I should have another go, I just seem to sink lower and lower in the water!

Jins · 24/06/2026 16:22

@Wtafmakeitstop have a go with short blade training fins. It made a big difference for me. Getting that undulation is so hard when you’re sinking 🤣

MJalltheway · 25/06/2026 07:57

Plan for today - hide in the coolest spot in the house that I can find until today is over 🥵
my brother is in London and they hit 40 degrees yesterday. We're in the southwest and more storms are due today I hear. The one on Monday knocked out our router so hoping we avoid a repeat of that!
ive bought an absolutely mammoth amount of clothes in the sales, working my way through what to keep nd what to return. It's such a novelty that everything fits. I've just ordered everything in a size 12 and it all just fits. Now I'm focussing on whether it suits me instead of whether it disguises me.

Polkadotdash · 26/06/2026 09:06

Pengate continues on. Lotus absolutely refuse to answer the phone or to call me back. I keep getting emails from them that read like AI ‘we understand that this must be frustrating for you’. They won’t do anything until Eli Lilly have ‘investigated’. I mean, what is there to investigate? The pen jammed. Anyway, this could take three weeks to hear from them. So in the meantime I just have to suck it up. I’m not ordering another pen as this one is going to be my last one anyway. But it’s absolutely shocking customer service. I’m convinced they think I’m lying so that I get a refund. It’s a good job this isn’t life saving medication. I didn’t previously think about how casually I would get treated if something went wrong.

And on top of all of this, the 12.5mg dose has completely put me off food, combined with the heat so I’m living on very little and I’ve still gained a pound. FFS. That math ain’t mathing!!!

Polkadotdash · 26/06/2026 09:25

I just looked at my weight tracker and I’m currently the same weight as I was the week after Christmas! CHRISTMAS! Not a time a year known for living on salads. Fuck’s sake!

PenelopePitstopPersists · 26/06/2026 11:00

@Polkadotdash look at Sally Gunnell on Facebook, she’s articulated gaining weight in the heat very well. Sweat affects sodium levels/body chemistry. You haven’t gained fat, it’s fluid regulation/retention.

HeidiLite · 26/06/2026 11:55

oh how annoying @Polkadotdash , really shit customer service.

I am home again, it is quite warm indeed, but it's not even that bad now I have a lot less natural insulation.

Have a problem though - I have not yet found a non-wired bra that gives anything close to a support of a wired one. I wear soft ones casually, but wired give just so much better lift for work and going out. But -they hurt! I have no fat on my sternum so the bra wires really press and rub. Bras are the right size but wondering if I should maybe try some other brands..
Of course anything beyond a B cup is pretty much non-existent locally, so would mean a lot of ordering and trying.

OP posts:
Polkadotdash · 26/06/2026 12:03

@HeidiLite the JL Sofia smooth underwire bras are comfy I find. I think John Lewis deliver internationally?

HeidiLite · 26/06/2026 12:13

oh yes that looks promising.

Well the outdoor brine pool was a winner. It felt like being on holiday as there’s a big patio and garden area and a load of loungers.

It’s not as briney as I expected and i didn’t get the buoyancy boost I’d hoped for. It was also heaving so no attempts at butterfly. However I managed to do a length of front crawl in 16 strokes (both arms) against DHs 22 so that’s improved significantly.

May weigh today as it’s a bit cooler.

Zempy · 27/06/2026 08:38

I am home again. DS was here for the week I was away, and he is dyspraxic like me. So I now have a list of “all the broken things” he has managed to achieve in just a few days. Including a window.

I love that boy but 😡

DGmaintaining · 27/06/2026 18:11

Happy heatwave everyone…I think like last year I’m not finding this so bad with a lot less body fat and don’t appear to be sweating at all.
I am finding that because I’m not reacting with the usual overheating signals (sweat, exhaustion) I’m suddenly very trembly or very light headed. Is that an MJ thing or an everyone thing in this 37C heat situation?
Anyway, glad we got AC installed in Autistic DS bedroom…there’s no way he would have survived this week without trying to claw his skin off. And we’ve decided to save up to do the whole house next year. I think the solar film on the front windows has helped a bit, but not enough.

You’d think with the heat I’d be wanting salads but I’ve craved carbs this week and had burger and chips, tuna salad and chips and pizza. I’ve also not exercised since Tuesday as it just seems insane to heat myself up first thing.

I lowered my dose last week from 2.5mg to 2mg which maybe explains the carb craving. But I was just feeling tired on the 2.5, and face was looking gaunt, so it was time to come down again. Weight was still stable on 2.5 so wasn’t a scales thing.

@HeidiLite let me know if you find a decent wireless brand, I’m also feeling like I’d rather go without. I have a super soft sports bra I bought from Primark in Spain that I would happily wear everyday as the cup shape is quite nice but it’s a bit chunky on the straps and can’t be worn under light coloured tops.
I have lost a lot of volume from my boobs, so a well shaped soft cup is hard to find. All my bras are moulded and under wired from M&S.

@Polkadotdash face lipo is a thing? I’m the opposite, I lose fat from my face first, which means I could look like a skull from the neck up but still have chunky thighs and a round tummy.

@Zempy hope DS hasn’t broken anything too valuable!

Sizing continues to perplex me. Uniqlo skirts in a small do not fit, Uniqlo small culottes and small cotton sleeveless top fit very well.

HeidiLite · 28/06/2026 18:22

DS's birthday weekend done, that was exhausting, but they had a great time and are now playing with their gifts. Did the treasure hunt type of game where you need to run around the town doing various tasks - kids loved it. Still extremely hot here, but thunderstorms coming and tomorrow should be a pleasant 30 degrees.
I am nearing my non-scale goal - today at the kids' party place, the game organiser commented what fabulous arms I have 😁Heading to gym now to make them even more fabulous.

OP posts:
Polkadotdash · 28/06/2026 22:33

oh @Zempy how on earth could he manage to break a window? The stuff that kids come up with to test us is never ending it seems.

@DGmaintaining turns out face lipo is a thing. It’s on my list for my lottery winner era. 😆 I don’t think I would ever have ozempic face. I have massive hamster cheeks that resist any kind of reduction.

I’ve spent the entire day nursing an absolute shocker of a hangover. Went to a 50th birthday party and absolutely did not realise how much wine I was drinking. Then I had a rum cocktail which was an absolute amateur decision to take. I’ve been in bed all day. I am no longer rock and roll.

HeidiLite · Yesterday 05:56

@Polkadotdash I have complained about it before. Not only will I feel horrible after drinking, it doesn't even make me happy. Also with you on the hamster face topic. Mine has now disappeared, but whenever I gain weight, face is the first to blow up. I have several friends who never gain weight in their face - even when they get chunky around the middle, face stays slim, with cheekbones and jaw. I look like Hello Moon.

Zempy · Yesterday 06:05

I’m still having problems opening various apps with my face since losing weight. It’s so annoying! I try to puff it out a bit but some apps are resistant to that.

Got to try and get the window sorted this week. And I am back to work after a week off 😡
