He tripped on a pavement and went down like a sack of spuds. Just shows how easy accidents can happen

26inprogress · 21/06/2026 08:34

Poor DS Jins, I remember my sister doing similar in Corfu years ago. It can be quite easy to break bones can’t it. He must have been in agony. Well done mum!!
happy holidays Zempy, hope you have a an amazing time!
@Polkadotdashglad you’ve finally got it sorted, what a faff 🫣.
i can’t take MJ now until after my op, so that will have been 3 weeks, I’ve been struggling this week, probably stress related I think but I’m determined to reign it in. I came across a wasps nest in our greenhouse yesterday and have about 20 wasp stings, even the dog was frightened hearing me screaming, bloody things, so painful, itchy and swollen 😫. At least I know I’m not allergic to the stings I guess!

have a great Sunday everyone, I’m cold plunging and saunaing, maybe more cold plunge I think! Ds is cooking a Father’s Day dinner for DH too.

Zempy · 21/06/2026 08:47

@26inprogress Thanks, I am waiting for my delayed train to airport.

That sounds awful, wasps are nasty bastards. 💐

Polkadotdash · 21/06/2026 09:15

@26inprogress I’m not sorted with my pen. Lotus don’t respond to customer service over the weekend so I’ve got to wait for them to open tomorrow and hope they agree that the pen is knackered. They kept sending me messages on Friday saying ‘just try with another needle’ but even if I could get it to work I know don’t know how much I managed to inject before it jammed and then I don’t know if the pen will give me 4 full doses now. I just want a new one. But they obviously don’t want to give me one!
Im so bloody hungry and grumpy now. Also had my usual thing of going out yesterday thinking I looked nice until I saw the photos this morning. I really do not look any different to when I was 15 stone. I don’t even know how that’s possible. I’m now wondering just exactly how much weight I would need to lose to look less matronly. I could be looking at another two stone or more. So depressing. Honestly if I had money I would chuck it at the problem. Can you get liposuction on your face? 😆
I also know I’m going through a phase of thinking ‘if only I could buy the most perfect, slimming outfit I would be acceptable’. I’m wasting my Vinted money on buying more and more things that I think will work and then having to sell them on. My husband gently mentioned this yesterday. I’m not in a good place with my relationship with my body.

Polkadotdash · 21/06/2026 10:28

Ok - Face lipo is a thing!! I never knew this. For the money I’ve spent on MJ I could have had my face hoovered and look thinner than I do now! My moon face could be GONE.

Jins · 21/06/2026 11:32

@Polkadotdash as I look in the mirror at my wrinkles I’m not so sure I shouldn’t have stopped a stone ago. I really feel for you - you need a change of luck soon so I think we should all shout out to the universe on your behalf. Your body must be under such stress between the post operative nonsense and the miserable work situation. It’s no wonder really that it’s not playing ball on the weightloss front.

Today is the big family get together and I’ve been busy in the kitchen making things I can’t eat! Salads next! Can’t wait to get together as my niece has given my brother a fabulous gift of a trip to New York. I’ll be pointing that out to my lads all afternoon

Polkadotdash · 21/06/2026 12:50

@jins and all you got was a trip to a&e from your son! Milk that disparity HARD!

My husband hates Fathers Day. He’s at work today. I just texted him to ask if he want to use the Tesco vouchers and go to Pizza Express for tea (oh! Such luxury 😂). He said he’d rather not. 🤷‍♀️

HeidiLite · 21/06/2026 13:33

ouch @26inprogress that must be very painful! I never realised I was allergic to wasps as mum and I always get huge massive swellings from any sting that stay swollen for days and days, so I thought that's what wasp stings are like. Then DS was stung on his lip and it went down in like an hour. Apparently not normal to have your hand twice the size a week later and mum and I are in fact allergic (confirmed by testing). Not anaphylactic so far but I am a bit panicky around the beasts.

Heat wave warning for next week - for once I am not complaining about the business trip to Netherlands I have next week. I do like the heat but not over 37 degrees.

Wtafmakeitstop · 21/06/2026 15:10

NSV, I bought a bikini 🥳 First one I’ve owned in decades.

I’m still not totally comfortable but it’s a highish waist and we’re going to Spain later in the summer. I’ve always noticed that on Mediterranean beaches women tend to wear bikinis whatever their shape so I think I’l be OK

Polkadotdash · 21/06/2026 15:28

@Wtafmakeitstop huge news! A definite win.
I dunno about the rest of the UK but where I live women have a new habit of wearing bikinis to Tescos. I’m absolutely fed up of seeing tits in the fruit and veg aisle. Put it away, love!

HeidiLite · 21/06/2026 18:26

I saw some in Aldi in bikini too, must be a new fahion. Why? I always find supermarkets freezing, not like you need to strip off there.

OP posts:
discov · 21/06/2026 18:31

I am always freezing in the supermarket too!

Very glad to report I’ve lost 7lbs since starting back. I feel much more like myself again! Also it’s so bloody nice to stick on a pair of shorts in the hot weather and feel nice and cool. I spent 30 years agonising over summer and covering myself up feeling uncomfortable. It turns out I do actually love the heat I was just too fat to enjoy it!!

Zempy · 21/06/2026 18:51

32 degrees here in Dubrovnik. Off on a boat trip tomorrow. No bikini for me but I’m in my sixties and am very lumpy. I do feel confident in a tankini now though.

Polkadotdash · 21/06/2026 19:13

@HeidiLite and @discov exactly! Just stick a dress on over the top of it. I just find it very attention seeking. It’s one step away from being Bianca Cessori in my book. And no one needs that in Aldi.

PenelopePitstopPersists · 21/06/2026 19:48

Hello everyone, I’m 😱 at the bikini in the supermarket chat. I try not to shop in person tbh, I get two smaller Waitrose deliveries a week these days (now they have a delivery pass and I’m home alone a lot, saves me wasting any food).

I still haven’t lost (or gained) a bloody ounce. I’ve now pressed pause on my curely subscription because it seems pointless. My calorie intake is sensible, no more than 8400 a week, plenty of fresh stuff/food cooked at home. Perhaps this is it for me weight wise, I don’t think I want to eat less than 1200 cals a day and I don’t want to exclude food groups. Today I’ve had a soft boiled egg, thin piece of sourdough from the smaller end of the loaf, scrape of butter, salmon fillet and salad, small drizzle of homemade dressing, a few blueberries and a nectarine. Typical day apart from egg and soldiers is a weekend thing. That’s usually yoghurt berries and oats.

Really pleased I took MJ, but I’m definitely done 🙇‍♂️ ordering pens. I’ll use up what I have.

In other news have agreed to try training with a new colleague who runs marathons, 😱 I’ve never liked running but it is for a good cause and I sort of got roped in. Let’s see if my dodgy knee holds up. 🙏. I would never have done that pre MJ would I? Especially not at peak fatness.

HeidiLite · 21/06/2026 20:20

and don't get me wrong, I actually like how I look for pretty much first time in my life, so wear as little fabric as possible where this is appropriate. Beach, gym, night out - sure, crop tops and hotpants, here I come. Office or supermarket, I put clothes on.

Wow are you planning a full marathon, @PenelopePitstopPersists ?

OP posts:
PenelopePitstopPersists · 21/06/2026 20:47

😱 no @HeidiLite , sorry I didn’t write that very well! Not sure of what I’ll do, definitely not a marathon, but it will feel like one to me. 10k is the shortest distance so probably that (while others do the longer distances on offer). I’m not massively confident my old ACL injury will hold up but I’ll try and will just take training very very steady. The oldest person doing it in the team is 67 😅. I couldn’t think of a good enough reason not to agree tbh.

HeidiLite · 22/06/2026 06:09

yes I was thinking that full marathon is quite a challenge and time commitment. But races can be quite fun.

NSV

Looking at a hotel towel and not thinking “why are hotel towels always so ridiculously small”

PenelopePitstopPersists · 22/06/2026 07:04

I get @Zempy , I recognised not needing a bath sheet anymore last year.

I am no good in the heat, have woken up with a very stiff neck this morning from my fan blowing on me all night. Having a late start.

HeidiLite · 22/06/2026 08:16

I just can't stop marvelling. I've been pretty much the same weight for a year. Very little effort needed, if any. I pretty much eat what I want - yes my portions are certainly smaller than before, but I don't feel like I'm constantly counting every bite, like I have done for pretty much all my life. If weight creeps up a couple of kilos, just a tiny bit of restriction and back down it goes. And all I need is a tiny bit of GLP-1

Is this how normal people live??

OP posts:
Polkadotdash · 22/06/2026 09:20

@HeidiLite I laughed at ‘normal people’. I’m guessing that people who have never struggled with their weight just don’t realise how lucky they are to never have to think about it.

@PenelopePitstopPersists solidarity in the heat. I’m not coping very well at all. I’m absolutely miserable and exhausted. I feel like such a miser, wishing the lovely weather would stop but I just hate being sweaty hot and lethargic all the time.

MJalltheway · 22/06/2026 16:38

Melting into a puddle over here too, I loathe hot weather! Forecast is 40 here on Wednesday, surely they are going to have to close the schools at least for the afternoon? We are not equipped for these temps!

my DD is really struggling, we saw the GP about potential POTS the other day so now waiting for further tests on that but one of the symptoms is being unable to properly regulate your temperature. She's always hot, even when it's really cold out so this weather is awful for her.

i know what you mean @HeidiLite I've been at goal weight for a good 6 months now, with relative ease. I'm taking 5mg a week still. I have such a strong routine with food now, I'm hopeful that I will be able to wean down further but I'm not attempting that until after our holiday in a few weeks time!

Polkadotdash · 22/06/2026 17:24

@MJalltheway your poor dd. It must be awful. I’m waiting for the school to decide it won’t open on Wednesday. The kids have been allowed to wear their PE kit today although I’m not sure that being in sweaty navy blue polyester is much help!

I am totally pissed off with Lotus about this jammed pen. They asked for a video to demonstrate that it was jammed. The one I recorded was 30MB. I couldn’t attach it to an email so I had to download compression software. I’ve sent it three times now. Their customer service is only open between 12-3 so I was ringing and ringing and couldn’t get through. They finally responded by email at 3.30pm today to say that I would have to contact Eli Lilley directly to complain (like WTF?) and that I was free to order another pen from them at the same price in the interim. That sent me loopy. I contacted Eli Lilley. I got a load of nonsense from them about them looking in to it and getting back to me within 14 days. No one wants to deal with these issues at all. I’m now well beyond a sensible gap between jabs and I know I won’t get a full 4 doses from that VERY expensive pen. Anyway my husband looked up online to see if this is a common fault and it can be due to the needle not piercing the top of the pen properly. So I refitted another needle and wound it back to 1 to try again. Amazingly it has worked so I have at least been able to have a full dose today whilst I’m trying to get my money back. I’m too hot and crabby for this level of ‘couldn’t give a fuck’ for consumers.

Jins · 23/06/2026 07:50

That’s not great treatment from Lotus at all. Thanks for the warning.

Family day went really well on Sunday and my brother looks so much better than he did at Xmas. It was lovely to see my nephew as well. We haven’t seen much of him in the last decade which is a shame.

I’m almost back to pre holiday weight and seem to be getting pretty good suppression at the moment which is my favourite thing about MJ. DH and I went to the coast yesterday and decided to have lunch in a place that couldn’t cater for coeliacs at all so that I could legitimately order ice cream for lunch 😆. Did a quick scour of the charity shops with no luck but it was a nice day out.
